• iPhone - how to store documents consisting of multiple images?

  My iPhone (actually, iPad) app creates documents that consist of several images, plus a bit of metadata. What's the best practice for storing these sorts of documents on disk? I see two main options: Create a folder for each document, and store my images as separate PNG files within the folder (plus another little file for the metadata). Create a single file which contains all images and metadata. But I'm not sure how to easily do option 2. I think I can convert my images in PNG format to/from NSData, but then what? I'm still a newbie at Cocoa, but I believe I saw something about stuffing mixed data into some NSSomethingOrOther and having this write itself out to disk, and read itself back in later. Does this ring a bell with anyone? And, will it work with large binary blobs of data like my images? Or would you recommend I simply go with option 1?

I want to check whether this small image is subset of master image or not. important points are, smaller image might have different file format, smaller image might captured from comparatively different view. smaller image may have different light intensity.   Hello, I have looked for months now, for JavaScript-based HTML editor I can embed onto my web pages to replace a TEXTAREA, but to enable me to edit CODE in a friendly, closer to a real editor, way. All editors I've tried (RadEditor from Telerik, FCKEditor, TinyMCE, etc etc), do not trap the TAB key, very useful when editing HTML code onto a page, to help format the code properly. I'm not talking about syntax highlighting, as that would be an awesome plus. But I am mainly wondering if there is such an editor. I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

• Skyrim: Heavy Performance Issues after a couple of location changes

  Okay, I've tried different solutions: ENB Series, removing certain mods, checking my FPS Rate, monitoring my resources, .ini tweaks. It's all just fine, I don't see what I'm missing. A couple of days ago, I bought Skyrim. Before I bought the game, I admit I had a pirated copy because my girlfriend actually wanted to buy me the game as a present, then said she didn't have enough money. Sick of waiting, I decided to buy the game by myself. The ridiculous part is, it worked better cracked than it does now uncracked. As the title suggests, after entering and leaving houses a couple of times, my performance obviously drops extremely. My build is just fine, Intel i5 quad core processor, NVIDIA GTX 560 Ti from Gigabyte, actually stock-OC, but manually downclocked to usual settings using appropriate Gigabyte software. This fixed the CTD issues I had before with both Skyrim and BF3. I have 4GB RAM. A website about Game Tweaks suggested that my HDD may be too slow. A screenshot of a Windows Performance Index sample with the subscription "This is likely to cause issues" showed the HDD with a performance index of 5.9, the exact same mine has, so I was playing with the thought to purchase an SSD instead, load games onto it that really need it like Skyrim, and hope it'd do the trick. Unfortunately, SSDs are likewise expensive, compared to "normal" HDDs... I'm really getting desperate about it. My save is gone because the patches made it impossible to load saves of the unpatched version and I already saved more than 80 times despite being only level 8, just because every time I interact with a door leading me to another location I'm scared the game will drop again. I can't even play for 30 mins straight anymore, it's just no fun at all. I've researched for a couple of days before I decided to post my question here. Any help is appreciated, I don't want to regret having bought the game... Since it actually is the best game I've played possibly for ever. Sincerely. P.S.: I don't think it's necessary to say, but still, of course I'm playing on PC. P.P.S.: After monitoring both my PC resources including CPU usage and HDD usage as well as the GPU usage, I don't see any changes even after the said event.   I want to set GMT+5:30 as my timezone in jquery countdown. Start Time for countdown is 'Thu May 20 16:00:00 IST 2010' End Time is 'Thu May 20 17:00:00 IST 2010' as value. +330 is my timezone given in minutes. But my countdown starts from 00:35:00. • How do i convert hdb file? ... believed to be from act! source

  Any ideas ? I think the original source was a goldmine database, looking around it appears that the file was likely built using an application called ACT which I gather is a huge product I don't really want to be deploying for a one off file total size less than 5 meg. So ... Anyone know of a simple tool that I can run this file through to convert it to a standard CSV or something? It does appear to be (when looking at it in notepad and excel) in some sort of csv type format but it's like the data is encrypted somehow.

• Automated fake mailbox

  Hello, i'm about to start the development of a new automated-email application. The idea is that customers (or other external users) send emails to a mailbox and then an automated process will read them, extract their information and insert it into some database. It's a requirement that the emails have an standard format in order to be parsed (standard subject, etc.). The obvious thing to do would be to set up a process that periodically pools an ordinary mailbox, through pop-3 for example, processing the messages it finds. However, it would be for me much nicer to be able to process the emails as they arrive. I was wondering then, is there any way to set up a process that acts as a fake email-box? do you know about any open-source implementation of something like that I can extend?   Is there a simple way to create a BindingList wrapper (with projection), which would update as the original list updates? For example, let's say I have a mutable list of numbers, and I want to represent them as hex strings in a ComboBox. Using this wrapper I could do something like this: BindingList<int> numbers = data.GetNumbers(); comboBox.DataSource = Project(numbers, i => string.Format("{0:x}", i)); I could wrap the list into a new BindingList, handle all source events, update the list and fire these events again, but I feel that there is a simpler way already.

  Hi Team, While preparing a Word 2007 document, I made a mistake. (Not to say I don't have any other copy of the document) While formatting (as a try) I applied the style "Apply Style to Body to match selection". This caused the document to go totally in a wronfg format - having numbers even in tables. Have you ever faced this? Could you please tell how to correct it?   We are developing a rather large WPF based application and would like to include some automated UI testing in our test suite (which already contains a number of unit tests). The UI Automation Framework from Microsoft partly sounds like a perfect fit for programatically launching and interacting with the application in a test setup. However, I've struggled to find solid references for samples and experiences with the technology, the articles and small samples available on MSDN is not enough to convince me that it is a solid choice. So, does anybody have real world experiences using the UI Automation Framework in their test suite? What are the caveats and the gotchas? Any best practices when written tests scripts, can you "record and replay" to a scriptable format, how much should you facilitate the testing from the application, how did you incorporate it in the automatic build? Should we be looking in another direction than the UI Automation Framework? Feel free to post you experiences here or link to some good references I might have missed

• Problem retrieving Hostaddress from Win32_TCPIPPrinterPort

  I'm running into an odd issue retrieving printer port addresses. When I get all the entries in Win32_TCPIPPrinterPort, the HostAddress field (which should have the IP address) is usually blank/null, only the port name has a value. To make it a bit stranger, if a particular port is not in use by any printer, THEN the HostAddress will have the the proper value.   I've come up with a simple search view to search for records in my app. The user just enters all parameters in the search box then all this is matched against the database, then results are returned. One of these fields is the phone number....now in the database it's stored in the format XXX-XXX-XXX. • PHP-GD: Dealing with Unicode characters

  I am developing a web service that renders characters using the PHP GD extension, using a user-selected TTF font. This works fine in ASCII-land, but there are a few problems: The string to be rendered comes in as UTF-8. I would like to limit the list of user-selectable fonts to be only those which can render the string properly, as some fonts only have glyphs for ASCII characters, ISO 8601, etc. In the case where some decorative characters are included, it would be fine to render the majority of characters in the selected font and render the decorative characters in Arial (or whatever font contains the extended glyphs). It does not seem like PHP-GD has support for querying the font metadata sufficiently to figure out if a character can be rendered in a given font. What is a good way to get font metrics into PHP? Is there a command-line utility that can dump in XML or other parsable format?

  Anyone know of a Python module that can pull Tag data from multiple media formats? Trying to build an app that allows for manipulation of ASF (Windows Media Player files, ie WMA, WMV, etc), ID3, including both ID3v1 and ID3v2 (MPEG files, ie MP3), MPEG Audio Bit Stream (ie ABS, MP1, MP2, MP3), MPEG Program Stream (MPEG movies, and DVD and HD DVD video discs, ie MPG, MPEG, VOB, EVO), and ISO Base Media File Format (eg QuickTime, MPEG-4 and iTunes AAC files, ie QT, MOV, MP4, M4A, M4B, M4P, M4V, etc). Don't need ALL of that but just most standard consumer formats like mov and mpeg. I can't seem to find a good module to support that or a library. Any recommendations?

  I would like the user to select the time in javascript and to avoid selecting the wrong time. How should i do it? Is there some kind of javascript or jquery widget? or should i show the format and allow users to write it in (and i guess check it with regex)? i think these should be valid 1 (1s) 1:5 (1m 5s) 1.5 (1s, 500 milliseconds. not to be confused by the above) 1:2:02 (1h, 2m, 2 seconds) 1:2:2 (1h, 2m, 2 seconds) 1:2:20 (1h, 2m, 20 seconds) I dont want the user to be confused. • What is the regular expression for valdating a 'price' in a jtextfield

  I want to validate a jtextfield as user inputs a price of some item. I have a perfectly working code which beeps and discard if user inputs some character that doesnt match the regular expression.(for regular expression "[0-9]+" it accepts any number of digits and beeps if a letter is given as input) But the problem is I want to validate an input like "12500.00". Format should be any number of digits before decimal point and two digits after the decimal point. eg: ddd.dd I tried the following regular expression. But the i doesnt allow user to input "." character. It allows user to input any number of digits but when "." key is pressed input is not accepted. here is the regular expression I used. "[0-9]+ | [0-9]+. | [0-9]+.[0-9]{1} | [0-9]+{2}" important: user input is validated character by character as the user inputs them to the jtextfield.

  When I have to render textarea content to the front end I usually pass it thru a function that converts newlines to <br/> tags and double newlines signal paragraph tags so blocks of text get surrounded by <p> and </p> tags. To save time I usually use a ready made PHP function from the wordpress codebase. You can get the link from the man himself: http://ma.tt/scripts/autop/ If you check it out you'll see it does some heavy lifting with about 20 regular expressions. I know I could use a wysiwyg editor (like TinyMCE or CKEditor) that can format the data on the client and then send it to the server (most of them add <p>..</p> tags by default) but I want to know the experience of others in handling raw textarea input and then displaying it on the front end.
