    Hi there, I am looking to add some dynamics to our corporate website. This is a secondary role so I'd rather not be spending a ton of time on it. At this point, all I need is a simple PHP script where a non-technical user can pull up and manage the records in a MySQL table. There's only one table of data to be managed; it's just that it will be accessed and updated quite frequently. I recall that Grails' default scaffolding feature has precisely this: list of entries with the ability to add, edit and delete, with no nonsense. What would be the best tool to use for this? I would rather not be writing it from scratch, as this will take me quite some time. It seems like the kind of thing that ought to exist somewhere. Thanks!

    hi, so I have this simple for loop to echo an array: for ($i = 0; $i < count($director); $i++) { echo '<a href="person.php?id='.$director[$i]["id"].'">'.$director[$i]["name"].'</a>'; } The problem here is that when more than one element is in the array then I get everything echoed without any space between. I want to separate each element with a comma except the last one. I cant use 'implode' so I'm looking for another solution... Anyone?

    I have a MySQL database with some URLs in it. One URL per row. Each URL has my script on it. What I am wanting to do, is check if the file is still there via a PHP script. Not check if it 404'd, but rather check if it has been modified or replaced. Is this possible? If so, how would it be accomplished? I was thinking making the remote file echo some string, and having the local file check the page for that string, but that seems a little inefficient and sloppy.

    Hi guys, hopefully you can help me here. I have some code (please see below) which takes the current time, then adds specific seconds to the time and re-displays the time 1 minute in the future. Instead of the time being the current time, I want it to be a time which I set - say 9:30. Then I want to be able to add, for example 65 seconds and it shows me 9:31. Please can you show me how to change it from current time, to a specific time I can set myself.     Hi, I have a login page. User first enters information and submits the form. And I have a php script that will see if the user exists. If( authenticated == true) { // I do a redirect } else { // I want to popup an error message on the same page. } 1) I'm not sure how to show the popup message, I would like to make my div element visible with an error message returned from the server, I would have to use Ajax, right? But how? Or are there alternatives which are just as good.

    Until now, most of my PHP development had been done on a Mac in TextMate. For a new client I need to work on a secured windows box, and I was wondering which IDEs I should be looking at, as someone used to working with TextMate. I've tried the 'E' editor, and I'm unconvinced. I've tried IDEs on the Mac, and they always seem like poor relations... but given that I'm having to move development platforms anyway, is there something better I should be looking at? Are there any decent text editors out there that I'm missing?

So will 1000 requests which came at the (relativly) same time be fully responsed faster than C# .Net programm perfoming algorithm 1000 times in while loop? So we input same data, we perform same algorithm, which is written in a wary same way (respecting language diferencis ofcourse), outputing same data (lat us say saving it to file for tham to be relativly equal) Who will be faster on some 1000 times of performing O(NN) algorithm, in which case (if it is possible) one will owerrun another?

    Hi, I am having a problem. I have some prices in a checkout displayed, they are "discount prices." How can I get these values from my page and add them together to display in a new div? I have two prices for two products 1000 and 2000, I want to be able to add these together to make 3000 and display it as a total in a new div. Example of what I'm going for here. Now, before the votes to close it's not as open-ended as you might think. I'm not asking purely what is the worst feature or what feature would you really like to remove purely arbitrarily. Yes, there may not be one correct answer but I suspect there will be many similar answers which will provide me with a good idea of things I might be doing wrong, even inadvertently.

    I often find myself storing data in a mysql database, and then wanting to display all sorts of stats about my data, specifically stuff like 'how many rows do I have for this date, or that date'. Does anyone know of (or could write) a good tutorial on this subject? Ideally a good tutorial would overview: Best practices when storing the data (i.e. what formats to use, how to use them servertime vs. generated time, etc.) Best practices when selecting data from the database with php (i.e. how to sort rows by date, how to retrieve only rows from a certain date, or a certain hour, etc)..     Hi, We have a web application that creates a dynamic PHP page with all the MySQL stored details a user has entered via a number a forms. So far so good, but we want this information stored some how to be refereed to at a later date, as an administrator can make changes to the data, which reflects on calculations that are worked out from this saved data. When going back over this saved data we need to be able to see all the information submitted for that particular calculation, so if that data has changed we will see what is was relating to that calculation. Now we have thought about maybe a snapshot when the calculation is done, pdf of the webpage or something similar would do, but is this simple to do? I hope this makes sense...

    So a user selects from a drop down list a value. I take this value, put it into a variable, then select from the database the ID value of that table A holding the selected value also. So now I'm trying to use that ID value to get to a many-to-many relationship table that has the selected value from table A to a different table B. The many-to-many relationship table has both IDs. How can I compare this using PHP? So it would be like: $A = $_POST['a']; $sql = "SELECT a, aID from TABLEA WHERE a = $A"; What do I do then to compare the aID with the many-to-many relationships table, then get the other ID in that table and then take that ID to get values from table B?

I need to call a variable located in that script within another function further down the same class.     Let's say you've got a table with a timestamp column, and you want to parse that column into two arrays - $date and $time. Do you, personally: a) query like this DATE(timestamp), TIME(timestamp) , or perhaps even going as far as HOUR(timestamp), MINUTE(timestamp b) grab the timestamp column and parse it out as needed with a loop in PHP I feel like (a) is easier... but I know that I don't know anything. And it feels a little naughty to make my query hit the same column 2 or 3 times for output... Is there a best-practice for this?

First step: What I want to do, is to extract and thus have the following string: "Well, I need some help as you can see." Second step: I would also like to convert the <CUSTOMTAG> and </CUSTOMTAG> to something else, like <e> and </e> for example, and finally have the following string: "Well, I need some help as you <e>can</e> see."   • How can I handle validation of non-latin script input in PHP?

    I am trying to adapt a php application to handle non-latin scripts (specifically: Japanese, simplified Chinese and Arabic). The app's data validation routines make frequent use of regular expressions to check input, but I am not sure how to adapt the \w character type to other languages without installing additional locales on the system (which I cannot rely on). Previous developers to have worked on the app have simply added needed characters to the regexes as the number of languages we supported grew (you frequently see "[\wÀÁÂÃÄÅÆÇÈÉ... etc" in the code), but I can't really do this for all the alphabets I need to support now. Does anybody out there have some advice on how to tackle this?

    This is about a classifieds website, where anyone may post classifieds. I have a security database which I intend to fill with information about the user who posts the classifieds. I intend to record information such as IP, name, tel, email, classified_text, classified_title etc etc. The reason for all this is that sometimes people become victims of fraud (fake classifieds etc). So I wonder, what information is possible to get from the poster which may help in tracking him/her down? IP is a given, but what else could be useful? And I would much like examples of how it would be useful also, as well as the code for it please, like $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']. And btw, I use PHP and have Sql as a database. Thanks

    Hi everybody! I am loading an xml in php via simplexml_load_file(). I load the file with that: $xml = simplexml_load_file('flash/datas/datas.xml'); And the access my content like that: $descText = $xml->aboutModule->chocolaterie->desc The text from desc is well registred in my $descText, but all the <br/> of the text disappear... So my long text is on a single line, not so good :-/ Do you know how to solve that? Is there a special traitement to do one the $xml var? Or someting else? Thank you in advance for your help!
