  • Reading Local Group Policy / Active Directory Settings

    - by Shinobi
I'm writing a C# program that will enforce password complexity in accordance with the Windows Group Policy setting "Password must meet complexity requirements". Specifically, if that policy is set to Enabled either on the local machine (if it's not part of a domain) or by the Domain Security Policy (for domain members), then my software needs to enforce a complex password for its own internal security. The issue is that I can't figure out how to read that GPO setting. Google searches have indicated that I can read GPO settings with one of these two APIs: the System.DirectoryServices library in .NET Framework, and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), but I haven't had any success so far. Any insights would be helpful.

  • Android 2.2 AVD: no Quick Search Box?

    - by Felix
I have recently updated my Android SDK to include support for Android 2.2 (API level 8). The app that I'm building integrates with the Quick Search Box (QSB) home screen widget, which I can't seem to find in this version (using both vanilla 2.2 and the Google APIs version). I was kind of excited when they announced that they have improved its functionality, but it seems there's no way for me to observe it. Is this normal? Are others experiencing the same issue? Or is this somehow related to my setup (running Archlinux and installed the Android SDK from the repositories).

  • Flash Player 10.1 for Flash Professional CS4 playerglobal.swc?

    - by TheDarkIn1978
Adobe released projector, debugger and plugin for Flash 10.1 yesterday. on my Mac i've installed the standalone player and debugger in Adobe Flash CS4/Players/ and Adobe Flash CS4/Players/Debug respectively. however, i think i need to download the globalplayer.swc for 10.1 so that Flash CS4 IDE is directed to use the new players. i've searched but i could only find the globalplayer.swc that was released during the 10.1 betas, and i'm not sure if that's the .swc i should use for the final 10.1 release. Adobe's site doesn't mention anything about replacing the .swc to use 10.1 in CS4, so i'm not sure if it's necessary. i've tried creating actionscripts to include flash.ui.Multitouch and flashx.textLayout and neither can be found. i have no idea how to make Flash Professional CS4 use the new APIs available in Flash Player 10.1 suggestions?

  • Need to preserve order of elements sent in JSON from Java

    - by Kush
I'm using JSON.org APIs for Java to use JSON in my JSP webapp, I know JSONObject doesn't preserve order of elements the way they are put into it and one has to use JSONArray for that but I don't know how to use it since I need to send key and value both as received from the database, and here I'm sending data to jQuery via JSON where I need the order of data to be maintained. Following is my servlet code, where I'm getting results from the database using ORDER BY and hence I want the order to be exact as returned from the database. Also this JSON object requested using $.post method of jQuery and is used to populate dropdown on reciever page. ResultSet rs = st.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM tbl_state order by state_name"); JSONObject options = new JSONObject(); while(rs.next()) options.put(rs.getString("state_id"),rs.getString("state_name")); response.setContentType("application/json"); response.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8"); response.getWriter().write(options); Thanks.

  • GData for my own API?

    - by Malax
Hi StackOverflow! Im currently planning to build an API for my service. I want to use GData because it fits the application scheme and there are libraries for many programming languages available. The first question that rose: Am I allowed to do that? I mean, Google put lots of work into the GData specification and have some sort of copyright. Does anyone know anything about this issue or did that before? You could extend the case if you want to specifically mimic an API which uses GData like the YouTube API to have my API 100% compliant. This is not my case, but I was wondering about that too. :-) Thank you for any input, Malax Edit: Note that i want to use it for my own service. So, I am implementing an API using the GData protocol, not using one of the Google APIs.

  • Google Maps geocoding (address to GLatLng)

    - by antosha
Hi, I am trying to draw a geodesic polyline with Google Maps JavaScript API from two address points. <script type="text/javascript">// <![CDATA[ var polyOptions = {geodesic:true}; var polyline = new GPolyline([ new GLatLng(), new GLatLng() ], "#f36c25", 5, 0.8, polyOptions); map.addOverlay(polyline); if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) { map.addOverlay(polyline); } // ]]></script> Could someone tell me how can I dynamically geocode an address into GLatLng coordinates? (I am a little confused after reading Google's API documentation http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/v2/services.html) Thanks :)

  • Where do you get ArcGIS development questions answered?

    - by nw
Where do you have the most success getting your ArcGIS development questions answered? ESRI forums? Stack Overflow? Google? Mailing lists? Blog posts? ESRI documentation? I can usually get answers to my ASP.NET/Oracle/JavaScript/C# questions in short order, but questions about ESRI products and APIs are a different matter. Posts founder in the forums, Google returns void, etc. I'm sure this is not uncommon for niche commercial products, but frustrating nevertheless. What works for you? Please share.

  • What file format contents starts with "URES"?

    - by Jordan
I have a number of files that contain data in a format I am not familiar with. All of the data files begin with the same byte sequence, presumably a file header, and the sequence is "URES". I'm assuming that these files are some kind of resource file, perhaps a collection of data or other files all embedded into one file; that's just a guess however. Does anyone know what format this is/might be? If so, how would I interrogate the file? Are there applications that let me open these kind of files? Do you know of any libraries or APIs that I can use to gain programmatic access the data?

  • How can I electronically transfer money to another account using Bank Transfer (BACS)

    - by Mooktakim Ahmed
I'm working on a project where we collect payments from users using credit/debit/PayPal payments. The service is taking payments from users on behalf of a 3rd party organisation. Once we take the payment, minus fees, we want to transfer the amount to the organisations bank account. For now, what we can do is pay the organisation using Online Banking BACS bank transfer. But I would like to know if there is a way to do this automatically using an API. If we need to somehow register the 3rd parties bank account details before making transfers, this is fine. We just want to automate the whole process, since at the moment the transfer is a manual step. Are there any gateways or APIs I can use for this? In the UK?

  • Using FourSquare API in a Rails App

    - by MikeH
Anybody have any good resources that might be helpful in trying to integrate the FourSquare API into a Rails app? I'm specifically looking for a good tutorial. There doesn't seem to be much out there yet. There are a few ruby gems, but they are pretty bare bones and I need a bit more hand-holding. Here is a resource that I've found so far: http://tedgrubb.com/ Stack Overflow won't let me include a second hyperlink, but you can also google: Foursquare ruby gem for another resource. I have not done much work with APIs in the past, but I am very comfortable with Rails. What I need is a little better sense of exactly where all the pieces fit. A basic tutorial is what I'm looking for. Thanks.

  • how to fetch app data(name, version, etc.) from android market?

    - by liuxingruo
As we know, the apps in the apple app store has a unique itunes link, and we can fetch app data about the app from app store through the link. I am wondering how can i achieve this in the android market, just like the website http://www.androlib.com/ did? As long as I know, each app in the android market has a ID, which just like "com.gabrouze.magic", and the QR Code can be viewed in "http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=qr&chs=135x135&chl=market://search?q=pname:com.gabrouze.magic". Thanks!

  • Why does Java read its default settings from the system

    - by Bozho
Java is reading the locale, timezone and encoding information (and perhaps more) from the system it is installed on. This often brings bad surprises (brought me one just yesterday). Say your development and production servers are set to have TimeZone GMT+2. Then you deploy on a production server set to GMT. a 2-hour shift may not be easy to observe immediately. And although you can pass a TimeZone to your calendars, APIs might be instantiating calendars (or dates) using the default timezone. Now, I know one should be careful with these settings, but are easy to miss, hence make programs more error-prone. So, why doesn't Java have its own defaults - UTF-8, GMT, en_US (yes, I'm on non-en_US locale, but having it as default is fine). Applications could read the system settings via some API, if needed. Thus programs would be more predictable. So, what is the reason behind this decision?

  • Language of variable names? (native foreign language speakers)

    - by Jj
We are a spanish speaking development team, we code in django and we all are pretty fluent in english, as all documentation, sample code, APIs, etc come in english. On our last project we chose to name all the variables, class names, modules, files and such in english, even though the whole application was in spanish, we kept a strings file where all our spanish was stored. We did this because it seemed more natural to read the whole code in one language, since keywords, constructs and dependencies have names in english. On new projects we are starting, we are having second thoughts about other teams mantaining our code or just having 3rd parties having to deal with templates or context in spanish. Do you know of any best practice on this matter?

  • Android RadioButton like Behaviour

    - by monxalo
    Greetings, I'm trying to create a single-choice android control, in a horizontal layout, by making use of the RadioGroup behaviour. I can assign the drawable just fine, but i would like to position the label of each RadioButton inside the drawable, is this possible using the standard APIs? <RadioGroup android:id="@+id/switchcontainer" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="horizontal" android:checkedButton="@+id/RadioButton02" android:padding="3dip"> <RadioButton android:text="id RadioButton02" android:id="@+id/RadioButton02" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:button="@drawable/radio_button" android:paddingRight="2dip" /> <RadioButton android:text="@+id/RadioButton03" android:id="@+id/RadioButton03" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:button="@drawable/radio_button" android:paddingRight="2dip" />> </RadioGroup>

  • Python/Django: Which authorize.net library should I use?

    - by Parand
I need authorize.net integration for subscription payments, likely using CIM. The requirements are simple - recurring monthly payments, with a few different price points. Customer credit card info will be stored a authorize.net . There are quite a few libraries and code snippets around, I'm looking for recommendations as to which work best. Satchmo seems more than I need, and it looks like it's complex. Django-Bursar seems like what I need, but it's listed as alpha. The adroll/authorize library also looks pretty good. The CIM XML APIs don't look too bad, I could connect directly with them. And there are quite a few other code snippets. What's the best choice right now, given my fairly simple requirements?

  • How do I display a local html file in a UIWebView?

    - by Thomas
I have a relatively simple question that I cannot seem to find the answer for. While doing the Google Maps Java API Tutorials, I ran into a problem. I can load an HTML file from the web, but when I try it locally, it just displays the contents of the file instead of running the script. Here's what works: NSString *url = @"http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/v3/examples/geocoding-simple.html"; NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:url]]; [webView loadRequest:request]; I want to store the HTML file locally and run it from the device itself, so I tried: [webView loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"geocoding-simple" ofType:@"html"]isDirectory:NO]]]; and it just displayed the contents of the file. What am I doing wrong here? Thomas

I have the following google chart code that im working with as an example: Type: Line Dimensions: 270x150 283,285,295,204,340,#41C0E4 64,120,130,170,175,180,#3962C2 1,2,5,12,28,34,#005E91 Bottom Label: test The following is the URL which generates the image below http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?chs=270x150&cht=lc&chtt=&chd=s:zz1l9,LWXffg,AABCFG&chco=41C0E4,3962C2,005E91&chxl=0:|test|&chxt=x My question is that i dont see the actual data in the url, but i see this chd=s:zz1l9,LWXffg,AABCFG That looks like serialized data, but im wondering how exactly that works, or how to encode/decode that to make the input of chart data dynamic via php.

  • Google AJAX Transliteration API: Is it possible to make all input fields in the page transliteratabl

    - by SolidSnakeGTI
Hello, I've used "Google AJAX Transliteration API" and it's going well with me. http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxlanguage/documentation/referenceTransliteration.html Currently I've a project that I need all input fields in every page (input & textarea tags) to be transliteratable, while these input fields differs from page to page (dynamic). As I know, I've to call makeTransliteratable(elementIds, opt_options) method in the API call to define which input fields to make transliteratable, and in my case here I can't predefine those fields manually. Is there a way to achieve this? Thanks in advance

  • Memory allocation included in API

    - by gurugio
    If there is the 'struct foo' and an APIs which handle foo, which is more flexible and convenient API? 1) API only initialize foo. User should declare foo or allocate memory for foo. The this style is like pthread_mutex_init/pthread_mutex_destroy. example 1) struct foo a; init_foo(&a);' example 2) struct foo *a; a = malloc(sizeof(struct foo)); init_foo(a); 2) API allocates memory and user get the pointer. This is like getaddrinfo/freeaddrinfo. example) struct foo *a; get_foo(&a); put_foo(a);

  • Can I get Raid disk status by using PS?

    - by David.Chu.ca
I have a HP server with Raid 5. Port 0 and 1 are used for data & OS mirroring. The software come with the Raid 5 is Intel Matrix Storage Manager and there is manager console as windows based api to view all the ports, including their status. Now they are all in Normal status. I am not sure if the OS/Windows has some APIs or .Net classes to access raid ports and get their status? If so, how can I use PS to get the information? Do I have to reference to the dlls provided by the Intel Matrix Storage Manager if not? Basically, I would like to write a PS script to get read status. In case any of port disk is not normal, a message will be sent out by growl protocol.

  • What can I access in Androids Native libraries? And How?

    - by Donal Rafferty
I am completely new to the NDK. I have done a couple of the tutorials including the hello from jni one and another one that calculates the sum of two numbers. They involved using cygwin and the ndk to create the library so file and I have a bit of a grasp on how to insert my own libraries into the libraries layer of Android. I have now been asked to access the native libraries on Android and see what I can use them for. My question is can I do this? The STABLE-APIS.txt document is a bit vague and mentions the following as Stable C++ API's in Android 1.5 cstddef new utility stl_pair.h Does that mean I can access them? If so then how do I go about it? I dont think that following the tutorials I have already done would be any help? Any pointers on how to do this or links to tutorials etc.. would be greatly appreciated

  • Facebook Connect auto-signon?

    - by mattbasta
So with all these fancy new APIs and such that Facebook is making available, I've noticed that on the partner sites (Pandora, docs.com, etc.), there is no login---Facebook automatically signs you in. You don't even need to press a button to connect if you already have a FB session established. Is this a feature of the new API? Or is this a Facebook partners-only feature? I haven't seen any information on whether this is possible for cool guys that don't run huge companies. Thanks in advance
