  • How do I call setattr() on the current module?

    What do I pass as the first parameter "object" to the function setattr(object, name, value), to set variables on the current module? For example: setattr(object, "SOME_CONSTANT", 42); giving the same effect as: SOME_CONSTANT = 42 within the module containing these lines (with the correct object). I'm generate several values at the module level dynamically, and as I can't define __getattr__ at the module level, this is my fallback.

  • Why is my Drupal Registration email considered spam by gmail? (headers included)

    I just created a Drupal website on a uni.cc subdomain that is brand-new also (it has barely had the 24 hours to propagate). However, when signing up for a test account, the confirmation email was marked as spam by gmail. Below are the headers of the email, which may provide some clues.   • Nginx settings are screwing up my Drupal form submissions, how do I fix?

    How do I tell Nginx to "ignore" specific URLS or pages on my web site? I run a Drupal site where anonymous visitors get served via NGINX while logged in users get served via Apache. We do this to keep the load down and scale better. It works great, except, since we set up nginx, a good number of Drupal forms no longer work. For example, before installing Nginx, if you created a new article, then clicked "edit" and edited the article. You could click "save" and your changes to the article would be saved. After setting up nginx, when you make edits and then click "save," the page simple refreshes, but now with "nginx-index.php" inserted into the URL. And your changes to the form were not actually saved to the database. So if you go to edit an article, you'll be on domain.com/node/##/edit or something like that. When you try to save your changes to the form, you'll wind up at domain.com/nginx-index.php?q=node/##/edit. And your changes will not be saved. There is a way around this, but only for administrative users. If you go to a form where this problem is happening, then comment or comment-out three lines in our settings.php file, the form will save properly. Those three lines are: // 'cache_form' = array( // 'engine' = 'db', // ), If they're commented, you uncomment them, them save the form. If they're uncommented, you comment them out and save the form. Obviously, this sucks. My friend who set up our server (and then left the country) told me that there are some Nginx settings that can tell it to "ignore" certain URLs or pages which could work here. How do I do this and where do I do it?

Again I need MySQL because thats what XAMPP uses and because I prefer MySQL regardless. I have a feeling it has something to do with this notest pragma error. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • View of nodes and their translations

    I'm trying to create a view of nodes and their translations. Specifically, I want each row to show the node title for each language. The way I'm doing it right now is by filtering the view by a specific language, then adding one relationship of type "Node translation: Translations" for each language on the site. I can then choose the "Node: Title" field, once for the original language and once per relationship. The problem with this approach is that the nodes that don't exist in the filtered language, but exist in other languages, are not included in the view. That's what I need help with.

  • drupal (CMS) or codeigniter (MVC) for creating a new web application?

    im going to create a new web application that is very customized. it will contain images, that are fully searchable - in a very, very customized way. when you click on the pictures you can add comments and so on. it requires users to be registered, but the registration/login process will be highly customized too. at the moment im using CodeIgniter for this. But i've read a lot of posts about CMS like Drupal and it sounds like i could let it handle basic stuff, maybe design and other front end work. i have no experience with CMS, in fact, i just started to use a MVC framework like CI and was impressed of how much easier it gets to start developing. so i wonder, if i'm going to create this kind of application, could i use drupal and then add the usual stuff, as i was going to do with CodeIgniter, like controllers, views, models, config files, my own libraries and so on? how does it work on a system like Drupal. how do you code PHP with it as with any MVC framework. it sounds like it has a lot of modules, i just wonder, if i can use it as a MVC framework but have the benefit of having all these basic stuff and design ready to use? cause then it sounds like the best "library" to provide for a web application from scratch. or is it difficult to create a customized app with it? i guess it has modules like images and users, but then how could i customize these so that every image has tags on it and country information, or have every user subscribing to changes to an image, that email will be sent to users and so on? cause i guess its easy to install a module. the question is, how do i customize it. maybe i don't need all that table columns. maybe i want to add/remove business logic. what are the pros and cons with using Drupal for this? is it even the right way to go? can you make a Stackoverflow with Drupal? Facebook? Twitter? Youtube? assuming that you know php of course. share your thoughts cause im totally new on creating a web application! thanks

  • Combine two views into one view

    I have two views that I would like to combine into one. The first view shows all items of X where company ID = Y. This is to give preferential sort to the client first, and then everyone else. So I created a second view, all items of X, where company ID != Y. I created it as an Attachment to attach to the first view, but I don't think I got the intended result. How can I combine these views so the first view results are listed first, and then the second view is too, using the same pager, filters, and arguments? Is there any way of achieving this without programming it?

    Arg! When I save my product kit, with several product selected, I land on a blank product kit node (as in no sub products). The message confirms the update, however when I return to the node edit page the products are no longer selected, hence the blank kit node page. Thoughts on debugging this, or what might lead to it?

    I'm creating a view with images, videos, audio and documents (books) and I like to shown a picture of each of them in a carousel. Everything works nicely with images and videos as far as we added a image-thumbnail (image filefield) to their CCK but we like to show a default image for audio and documents without changing the original CCK. Is it possible with imagecache (may be with imagecache_custom_code or views_custom_php) or we need to look for a different approach? Thanks for your help, m.

  • Imagecache, Views, file renaming, and output directories

    I have been trying to figure this one out for awhile and just seem to be getting myself deeper into a rabbit hole.. I think it would be best if I would just explain what I am trying to accomplish and go from there.. Essentially what I would like to happen is a user would upload a photograph from the filefield sources on a content type, and then using views, it would output that different image through different imagecache actions.. The problem seems to be that the actual directories it is making is really cluttered and I would like it to be a little bit more organized due to some file renaming. Here is how I would like the process to happen: Upload image.jpg Imagecache resize 100x100 square and save file to same directory and name the file image-100.jpg Imagecache desaturate 100x100 square and save file to same directory and name the file image-d-100.jpg Currently it seems that every imagecache action will save that file in its own directory..     I'm playing with kernel module hiding on Linux Kernel 3.x. I try to hide and recover the module from /sys/module. Everything works fine on Kernel Version 3.0 and 3.2.6, I can load and unload the module and hide and unhide it. When I'm unloading the module on kernel 3.6.6 I get the following error: rmmod: ERROR: could not open '/sys/module/xxx/holders': No such file or directory rmmod: ERROR: Module xxx is in use Has anybody an idea how I could restore of the module so that I am able to unload it without errors?     I am trying to install VirtualBox on my Ubuntu. I first tried to sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose in a terminal, but after the configuration step, it fails with an error: No suitable module for running kernel found When proceeding with starting virtualbox, I get this error: WARNING: The character device /dev/vboxdrv does not exist. Please install the virtualbox-ose-dkms package and the appropriate headers, most likely linux-headers-generic. You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed. So I tried the package from http://www.virtualbox.org/, but starting VirtualBox fails with: WARNING: The vboxdrv kernel module is not loaded. Either there is no module available for the current kernel (2.6.38-8-generic-pae) or it failed to load. Please recompile the kernel module and install it by sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed.   • VMware Kernel Module Updater hangs on Ubuntu 13.04

    VMware Player has a nice auto-detection of kernel changes, and requests the user to compile the required modules in order to load them. This happens from time to time after a regular update of your system. Usually, the dialog of VMware Kernel Module Updater pops up, asks for root access authentication, and completes the compilation. VMware Player or Workstation checks if modules for the active kernel are available. In theory this is supposed to work flawlessly but in reality there are pitfalls occassionally. With the recent upgrade to Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail and the latest kernel 3.8.0-21 the actual VMware Kernel Module Updater simply disappeared and the application wouldn't start as expected. When you launch VMware Player as super user (root) the dialog would stall like so: VMware Kernel Module Updater stalls while stopping the services Prior to version 5.x of VMware Player or version 7.x of VMware Workstation you would run a command like: $ sudo vmware-config.pl to resolve the module version conflict but this doesn't work anyway. Solution Instead, you have to execute the following line in a terminal or console window: $ sudo vmware-modconfig --console --install-all Those switches are (as of writing this article) not documented in the output of the --help switch. But VMware already documented this procedure in their knowledge base: VMware Workstation stops functioning after updating the kernel on a Linux host (1002411). Update As of today I had the first kernel upgrade to version 3.8.0-22 in Ubuntu 13.04. Don't even try it without vmware-modconfig...

Is it automatically detecting these emails written in text editor ? I haven't find any settings menu, after I installed the module. I guess there is not. thanks
