    Hello I'm looking for a piece of relatively simple software to browse large C++ project. What I would like is something that is somewhere between a simple text editor and a full-blown IDE like Eclipse. I would like syntax highlighting, a way to see all classes/methods defined in a file, a way to find where a particular method is called from and where a variable is declared/defined. Any ideas?   • how can i search a lots of .js and .php files for a specific phrase?

    Windows has a go at it but only gets a few when i seach a directory. Is there an IDE or similar that allows for searching within the files of an entire directory? for example, if I need to make sure no files require to a redundant class (old_class.php) I'd like to search for 'old_class.php' or alternatively if anyone knows a way to do this in Aptana (my text editor of choice) that would be amazing...

  • Creating and Compiling a C++ project on Windows

    I need to work on C++ project on my windows machine. My project will consist of various classes(.h and .cpp) as well as the startup file to start the application. The preliminary design is simple but the application has the potential to gain complexity as time goes by. What I need here is ideas to set up the C++ project compiler/IDE/Makefile etc..etc. as well as some standard tools besides Visual C++ to compile/build/link projects such as these on a Windows OS.   • Monitor Mode on the Intel Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6205 (WEP Penetration) On Windows

    Can anyone tell me a way to do WEP hacking (legal, of course) (on my own wireless connection, for the purposes of this question) with Wireshark or similar programs on an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205? (Laptop is Acer Aspire 5750-6866.) According to the programs, I cannot accomplish this (monitor mode) but seeing as it is a fairly recent wireless card (should be able to support this) are there any cracked drivers available or does anyone have the knowledge to make one?   • Trying to make a custom Arch-based Linux distro with larch

    I'm all set up with a spiffy Arch installation in a virtual machine, and now I want to turn it into a live ISO. When I heard about larch, I thought it would be the perfect tool to turn my existing installation into something I could distribute. However, I can't get larch to install properly. I followed the installation instructions on the website, which said to download and run the larch-setup script. When I run it, though, it installs the larch profiles and libraries but doesn't install the executable programs. Here's a screenshot of the errors I get when larch-setup tries to install the executables. I'd greatly appreciate any clues to what is going wrong here, or suggestions for alternative ways to turn my customized Arch installation into an ISO! Thanks!

  • VLC without border/window decoration in Windows

    I'm trying to run VLC (2.1, 64 bit) without any chrome on Windows 7. You can achieve it by going to Preferences, and in the Interface tab, unchecking Integrate video in interface, and also in the Video tab, unchecking Window decorations. The problem lies in the fact that without Window decorations there is no apparent way to move or resize the video window - in GOM player, for example, you can move window by dragging on the video itself; is there an option for this in VLC? Ideally, I would like to move the window by the method described above (by dragging the video), and would like the Window decorations to reappear on mouseover, to allow resizing; I'm a new VLC user, but unsure how far the customisation goes. - I'd settle with just the moving of the window via dragging the video if this is possible by advanced setting. There is a similar question here, but not exactly, and no solution to that particular question.

  • Windows 7 and wallpaper folders

    I try to change my desktop wallpaper and I cannot choose a different folder from the one I chose at first... When I first installed W7 I changed the wallpaper by right-clicking in the desktop and choosing Customize (maybe it's not correct because I use the italian version) and then Change Wallpaper in the bottom and finally I browsed for a folder with some images in and chose the wallpaper. When I do the same exact things now, the folder I select in the final pass is not selected: I mean its pictures are not shown and it doesn't appear in the drop-down list. I can put a specific picture as a wallpaper by selecting it through Explorer, and some times (not always) the folder shows in the drop-down list. Is there any possible solution to this?

  • New Windows 7 Libraries created keep disappearing

    I've just got a new laptop that came pre-installed with Windows 7 Professional edition. One of the new features of Windows 7 is Libraries. I'm familiar with how this works and am trying to create my own library called 'Work' to include all my work folders on my computer. However every time I create a new custom Library, after I rename it, it disappears from my Library menu. Each time I click Libraries in the Explorer, I keep seeing the same 4 default libraries, I.e. Documents, Pictures, Music, and Video. So when I try to create a new Library called 'Work' again, I get a pop up message "Do you want to rename New library to Work (2).Library-Microsoft?" Which means that my original work library still exists but for some reason I can't see it. Can someone please help me figure out why this is happening?

    I have placed too many icons in my dock. there is by default a separator in dock between applications & trash. I want to add more separators in my dock - for grouping purpose. say for example finder, preview, itunes, system pref.,activity monitor FOR Mac osx group Mozilla, safari - for Browsing group Odesk, skype, ipmessanger, adium, team viewer for communication Means, I just want to add separator to identify them very quickly.   • Launch an arbitrary application with a specific icon

    I'm thinking about customizing my Windows 7's application icons, so that they all follow a specific theme (Token-like icons). This would involve using Resource Hacker (or similar) to patch each .exe. Not only this would be tiresome, but also it would require doing it again at each update of each application (nevermind that some could break just because it was tampered with). Instead, is there any way to launch an application with a specific icon? Ideally it would be something from the command-line (so I can make a shortcut), like this: launchwithicon.exe --app C:\myapp.exe --icon C:\myicon.ico Note that while it is possible to do something similar by setting the taskbar to "always combine, hide labels", I do not like this approach and instead am looking for something that works without combining the taskbar icons.

  • How to customize Windows Failover clustering to trigger on failure of custom window service?

    i'm a total newbie on windows failover clustering. and what i want to do now is to setup the FC (failover clustering) on two win 2008 R2 server. and right now i have my custom window service running on both machine. But they cannot run concurrently as it will mess up the DB, thus i just want one to be available at all time (high availability). so i'm wondering if there's any way to set the failover policy to include this custom window service that i've installed on these machines so that if this service goes down or die, then it will automatically trigger the failover to the second node. is this possible? or must it be done programatically? and if so what is the best way? thanks ~m

  • Is it possible to use XP visual styles (*.msstyles) or Windows Blinds in a thinapp portable applicat

    It's been a while since I made a portable (Office 2007) Thinapp application, and since then I've uninstalled VMWare from my machine to free up space, so I'd like to know if someone already knows the answer to this before I set up everything again to try it. I'm thinking of installing a visual style (*.msstyles, for XP) along with the application to thinapp before post-setup capture. Failing that, maybe I'll try with visual mods such as Windows Blinds. The purpose is to be able to run a portable application with a specific visual style. So my question is: Is it possible? (I believe it somehow is, since VirtualBox does something similar to XP Mode) If it is, will it work on a computer with the "classic" Windows style? If it's not, will it work with another virtualization software? (Xenocode?) If it's not possible with *.msstyles, will it work with visual mods such as Windows Blinds? Thanks for any input!   • Flex puts _docs_ folder into the bin. Can that be stopped?

    I started using Flex Builder 3 only recently. There is a behavior I want to change. Flex apparently looks for folders that have underscore in front of their names inside the libraries on the project path, and transfers them to the bin directory. This often results in several megabytes of junk in my bin, and I want to change this behavior. Does anyone know how to do that?

I used to work on Windows for quite a while and mostly used Far Manager and sometimes Total Commander, then I switched to Ubuntu Linux and used Krusader, now I switched to Mac OS (Snow Leopard) and I'm having a hard time trying to find a good file manager... Many of the existing applications are trying to replace the Finder with "multimedia capabilities nobody cares about in file manager - IMHO" (Path Finder, ForkLift), some of them are almost good dual-pane file managers (couldn't remember examples), but none of them worked for me mostly because of one reason: I couldn't integrate my file/folder comparison utility (Araxis Merge for Mac) with them... The way it worked for me in Windows and Linux is that I was setting the cursor on one file in the left pane, then setting the right-pane cursor on another file in right pane, then I pressed a hotkey that launched Araxis Merge with those to files/folders comparison results. It was very easy to set up in Far Manager (Windows) and Krusader (Linux, actually in Linux I used "Meld" instead of Araxis Merge...) The tool I'm looking for doesn't necessarily has to be free...     Is there a way to change the desktop wallpaper in Windows 7 Starter Edition? I wanted to do that on my new netbook, just to find out that there is no "Customize" option in the control panel. Microsoft obviously wants to keep the netbook users rather rigidly from customizing their machines. It isn't even possible to edit the picture itself in the C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows\ directory, due to lack of rights. From what I can tell only the user "Trusted Installer" would have enough rights to do so... Update: With your help I found two programs that are able to bypass Microsoft's limitations: Starter Wallpaper Changer (Thanks to Sopan and javier.   • An easily customizable linux distribution using minimal disk space?

    I'm looking for a linux distribution that can be easily used to create my own distribution that's the same system with some software installed. So basically I should be able to create an iso which, when installed, will have the linux distribution with my desired installed. More specifically, I plan on installing mysql and a bit of my own software which shouldn't be too big. However, this distribution needs to be extremely small in terms of disk space. The distribution, including mysql should not exceed 100mb. It should, of course still be able to connect to the internet and perform other standard functions. I don't need X/any sort of window manager, and would prefer not to have it since it would increase disk usage. Currently I have tried ttylinux and tiny core linux. I've found that ttylinux, while is extremely small, has almost nothing so that mysql can't even be installed. Tiny core linux, on the other hand is a bit too big. I've found openembedded and linux from scratch, but I would prefer for the install and build process to be much easier. What other distribution would you recommend for my purposes? Minimizing disk usage is the most important, followed by ease of installing and creating the custom distribution.
