• Exchange migration to 2007 making Outlook 2003 unable to read meeting requests

  Hi, We are currently moving from Exchange 2003 to 2007 (8.2 build 176.2). We have encounted an issue with one user. In Outlook 2003 when getting a meeting request: "Can't open this item. Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are nto valid." The item cannot be previewed in the reading pane either. The item can be viewed in OWA and iPhone fine. I've tried with cache mode off and on. Different computers. Same issue. There are the following entries on the account: SMTP [email protected] [email protected] X400 C=AU;A= ;P=Company Name;O=Exchange;S=LastName;G=FirstName; I'm loathe to recreate the account. This will be an extreme last resort. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

• AutoComplete not working in Outlook 2007

  When I go to create a new message in Outlook 2007, and I start typing the first few characters of a contact's name, no suggestions appear. I've just added all my contacts from a .csv file that was exported from Yahoo! Mail. If I type the name out, then click 'send', then it will ask me which of the contact's emails to send it to if the contact has multiple addresses. I've looked in the advanced options to make sure AutoComplete is on, which it its. What is going on? Thanks!

• Wife's Email going into Junk Mail folder in Outlook despite turning off Junk Mail

  I recently started a new job. Today I tried emailing my wife from my new company email account. When she responded, her email went into the "Junk E-mail" folder. So I tried a few things: Added her to the "Safe Senders" list Added her as an Outlook contact and checked the "Also trust email from my Contacts" box in the "Safe Senders" tab Added her domain to the "Safe Senders" list Switched from "Low" to "No Automatic Filtering" in the Junk Email options No matter what I would do, her emails would still go into the Junk Email folder. Can anyone recommend additional things to try? EDIT: This is using Exchange.

• How can you add two lines of text on a single line in Word 2010?

  Odd title, wasn't sure how to word it. Basically, I have two separate fonts I want to be on the same line, for resume purposes. My name is in a large font at the top, and I want my email and website address right-aligned directly beside it, one on top of the other. However, I want the email and website to combine to the same height as my name. Is this even possible with Word? Surely it is. Here is an awesome graphic of what I'm hoping for. • Exchange 2010 Mail Enabled Public Folder Unable to Recieve External (anon) e-mail.

  Hello All, I am having issues with my "Public Folders" mail enabled folders receiving e-mails from external senders. The folder is setup with three Accepted Domains (names changed for privacy reasons): 1 - domain1.com (primary & Authoritative) 2 - domain2.com (Authoritative) 3 - domain3.com (Authoritative) When someone attempts to send an e-mail to [email protected] from inside the organization, the e-mail is received and placed in the appropriate folder. However, when someone tries to send an e-mail from outside the organization (such as a gmail account), the following error message is received: "Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 554 554 Recipient address rejected: User unknown (state 14)." When I try to send an e-mail to the same folder, using the same e-mail address above ([email protected]), but with domain2.com instead of domain3.com, it works as intended (both internal & external). I have checked, double checked, and triple checked my DNS settings comparing those from domain2 & domain3 with them both appearing identical. I have tried recreating the folders in question with the same results. I have also ran Get-PublicFolderClientPermission "\Web Programs\folder" with the following results for user anonymous: RunspaceId : 5ff99653-a8c3-4619-8eeb-abc723dc908b Identity : \Web Programs\folder User : Anonymous AccessRights : {CreateItems} Domain2.com & Domain3.com are duplicates of each other, but only domain2.com works as intended. All other exchange functions are functioning properly. If anyone out there has any suggestions, I would love to hear them. I've just hit a brick wall. Thanks for all your help in advance! --Alex

  We use a spreadsheet as our timecards. The template is stores on the server with links to it on the individual Desktops. I am trying to figgure out the VB so that wnen the cell for username (B5) is blank, the VB will place next sundays date in (B7). After the user enters thier name in B5, I need it to not change B7 again. If I use a formula in B7 "=IF(B5="",TODAY()+8-WEEKDAY(TODAY()),B7)" i need to enable the curcular calcualtions, which don't follow from the template to the spreadsheet, thus causing errors for every individual. Corporate says that they need to be in Excel, because of the import software. Otherwise I'd use Word and the "CreateDate" function. I've been trying to learn the VB to do it, but I was hoping that soem expert could whip out the code in 5 min. flat and just let me disect it.

• Is there a way to modify the default size of a new side note in OneNote 2010?

  I am a fan of OneNote, but there is one aspect of it that makes it less useful than it could be. When I make a new side note (i.e. by clicking the OneNote icon in the system tray or pressing WindowsKey + N), the size of the window of the resulting note that opens is far too large. It probably takes up 20% of my reasonably high-res screen by default. I have to click and drag to resize it, and that's a waste of my time. So, I have a two part question: Is there a way of modifying some settings somewhere (perhaps in the registry?) so that the default window size of a new side note is smaller than the default? I would prefer something more in line with the size of a new "sticky" note in OS X. If not, does anyone know of a fast way to shrink the size of a window using the keyboard? I'd appreciate any advice that anyone can give. Thanks.

  I have a user with a frustrating application crash issue without Outlook: Windows 7 x64 Outlook 2010 crashes on the splash screen with the message "loading profile." I have deleted the users .ost file in "..\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\" and this crash occurs for multiple users including those with administrator privileges. I have also tried running outlook at the command prompt as an admin with the /safe command-line switch. I tried the repair utility in "programs and features by clicking Change after selecting Microsoft Office:" ~~ Microsoft office failed to successfully repair your product . I tried to uninstall Microsoft Office ~~ Microsoft Office failed to successfully uninstall this product. I am trying to avoid reimaging the machine for obvious reasons. Is there anything else I can try or insight any one has on this issue?

• Can I get back a disabled account from Microsoft Exchange 2010?

  We had an employee leave today and I disabled their account. For clarification I right click the user in the Exchange Management Console and clicked "Disable." I got a message that said "Disabling the mailbox will remove the Exchange properties from the Windows user object and mark the mailbox in the database for removal. Are you sure you want to disable 'Users Name'? I clicked "yes" and not 60 seconds later I was asked to just change the password temporarily. Can I get this account back?

• Public Folders - Delete Public Folders from 2003 after migrating to 2010 (via Adsiedit) - safe?

  Similar Question: How do I delete a public store in Exchange 2003? We are ready to remove our Exchange 2003 server after having migrated all public folders and mailboxes to 2010. We ran for a week with the exchange 2003 server shutdown and everything seemed to work. When I try to delete the PF database from 2003 it says it contains replicas. Whilst migrating i only had one was sync working (from 2003 to 2010) so i believe that 2003 hasn't received the responses from 2010 saying replica removed. When I look in Public folders on the 2003 box none are listed, when i look in PF Instances they are all listed. I know everything has moved to the 2010 server and I know 2010 is not showing the 2003 server as a replica for any folders. I am looking to use ADSI edit to remove the Public folder database from the 2003 server, but want to ensure i am going to delete the right thing so that they do not get deleted from the 2010 database. Should i delete configuration, Services, Microsoft Exchange, Company Name, Administrative groups, First administrative group, Servers, Server name, Information store, First storage group, public folder store (Server name)? Or something else? I have checked and the only public folder with the old exchange server listed as a replica is SYSTEM CONFIGURATION. Thanks in advance.

Follow me at: twitter.com/scottgu] We are continuing to make progress on shipping Visual Studio 2010.  I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has downloaded and tried out the VS 2010 Release Candidate, and especially to those who have sent us feedback or reported issues with it. This data has been invaluable in helping us find and fix remaining bugs before we ship the final release. Last month I blogged about a patch we released for the VS 2010 RC that fixed a bad intellisense crash issue.  This past week we released two additional patches that you can download and apply to the VS 2010 RC to immediately fix two other common issues we’ve seen people run into: Patch that fixes crashes with Tooltip invocation and when hovering over identifiers The Visual Studio team recently released a second patch that fixes some crashes we’ve seen when tooltips are displayed – most commonly when hovering over an identifier to view a QuickInfo tooltip. Patch that fixes issues with the Web Forms designer not correctly adding controls to the auto-generated designer files The Visual Web Developer team recently released a patch that fixes issues where web controls are not correctly added to the .designer.cs file associated with the .aspx file – which means they can’t be programmed against in the code-behind file.  This issue is most commonly described as “controls are not being recognized in the code-behind” or “editing existing .aspx files regenerates the .aspx.designer.(vb or cs) file and controls are now missing” or “I can’t embed controls within the Ajax Control Toolkit TabContainer or the <asp:createuserwizard> control”. Common Cause of Intellisense and IDE sluggishness on Windows XP, Vista, Win Server 2003/2008 systems Over the last few months we’ve occasionally seen reports of people seeing tremendous slowness when typing and using intellisense within VS 2010 despite running on decent machines.  It took us awhile to track down the cause – but we have found that the common culprit seems to be that these machines don’t have the latest versions of the UIA (Windows Automation) component installed. UIA 3 ships with Windows 7, and is a recommended Windows Update patch on XP and Vista (which is why we didn’t see the problem in our tests – since our machines are patched with all recommended updates).  Many systems (especially on XP) don’t automatically install recommended updates, though, and are running with older versions of UIA. This can cause significant performance slow-downs within the VS 2010 editor when large lists are displayed (for example: with intellisense). If you are running on Windows XP, Vista, or Windows Server 2003 or 2008 and are seeing any performance issues with the editor or IDE, please install the free UIA 3 update that can be downloaded from this page.  If you scroll down the page you’ll find direct links to versions for each OS. Note that we are making improvements to the final release of VS 2010 so that we don’t have big perf issues when UIA 3 isn’t installed – and we are also adding a message within the IDE that will warn you if you don’t have UIA 3 installed and accessibility is activated. Improved Text Rendering with WPF 4 and VS 2010 We recently made some nice changes to WPF 4 which improve the text clarity and text crispness over what was in the VS 2010/.NET 4 Release Candidate.  In particular these changes improve scenarios where you have a dark background with light text.   When I attempt to search for an email, if I search for the email using the search toolbar within Outlook 2007, no results are found. However, if I use the Windows 7 built-in search functionality found when you click the Start button, using the same search criteria as I did in Outlook, Windows 7 finds the email immediately. Question: how can I make Outlook 2007 find the email(s) I'm searching for that Windows 7 finds that Outlook doesn't?

• Outlook 2007 - Right Click Email > Move To {Folder Name}

  I know it seems like an elementary question. What's the simplest and fastest way to move a read/completed email to a different folder in Outlook 2007 (connected to Exchange 2007)? I have a particular user that is challenged by technology. Using keyboard shortcuts is not an option. Dragging and dropping things - forget it. And too many clicks is frustrating to him. He keeps his email inbox completely clean (OCD=True) but he does that by deleting every single email as quickly as he's done with it. If an email can't be resolved in a day or two it almost drives him to insanity. As far as he's concerned, there's only one right thing to do with an email - reply to it and then delete it. He's being asked to save emails unless they are clearly trash. I'm trying to figure out what the simplest method is to move an email to a "Saved Emails" or "Archived" folder (don't confuse "folder" with .PST file, that's irrelevant for this discussion). I envisioned that I could possibly hi-jack every delete and put the email in his Saved folder. But I don't like this option because some emails are truly trash and I don't want him saving those. What I'd really like to do is something like this: Right Click Email in List > Move To {Folder Name} Is there a simple way to do this? Maybe someone has another suggestion on how to handle this situation.

• Visual studio 2010 remote debugging is very slow (across domains, over vpn)

  Overall debugging works, but each step through code takes dosens of seconds. I've already closed all additional windows like stack trace,watches,autos; deleted all breakpoints. server and dev machine are located in different domains, so i set up local user on both, with matching password. remote debugger is running as service. looking at security log, I found quite a lot of entries about remote debugging account logging in (record about every minute). Any suggestions on how i can speed up remote debugging? dev computer: quad core, 8 Gb mem, win 7 x64 , visual studio 2010 ultimate target server: asp.net website , 2xdual core xeon, 2Gb mem, remote debugger 2010 communication channel: vpn , 5 mbit , latency about 20ms. (seems that debbugging never uses more than 20 kb/s)

  For Visual Studio 2010 Web based application we have Config Transformation features by which we can maintain multiple configuration files for different environments. But the same feature is not available for App.Config files for Windows Services/WinForms or Console Application. There is a workaround available as suggested on the following link. http://vishaljoshi.blogspot.com/2010/05/applying-xdt-magic-to-appconfig.html However it is not straightforward and requires no of steps. Is there an easier way to achieve the same for App.Config files?

  The report viewer doesn't seem to work in asp.net projects in VS 2010. You get the following error: Microsoft Jscript runtime error: ‘Microsoft’ is undefined. VS also breaks on the following line of javascript code: $create(Microsoft.Reporting.WebFormsClient.ReportViewer, {"_internalViewerId":"ctl00_MainContent_ReportViewer1_ctl03","id":"ctl00_MainContent_ReportViewer1"}, null, null); Steps to recreate problem: In Visual Studio 2010 beta 2 create a new asp.net project Drag a ScriptManager control on to default.aspx Drag a ReportViewer control on to default.aspx Build and run the project You then get the problem Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
