  • Apache: set aside specific number of servers for a single "high priority" script

    I have a bunch of scripts, but some of them are higher priority than others: /var/www/normal-priority/script1.pl /var/www/normal-priority/script2.pl /var/www/normal-priority/script3.pl and /var/www/high-priority/script1.pl /var/www/high-priority/script2.pl /var/www/high-priority/script3.pl All running under mod-perl. They reside in separate directories. From time to time, the normal-priority scripts get very busy, and the httpd servers "swamp out" the less frequently called high priority ones. Is it possible to set aside n httpd servers so that they only listen for the "high priority" scripts?

As the files will change frequently I don't want to add the files directly but rather have a way of automatically including all files from within a directory and deploy them to a certain location. I am using a Visual Studio Setup Project. Anybody know how/if this is possible?

    i'm a C# developer and i have a trouble with Entity Framework 5. I have mapped my database with Entity using the default code generation strategy. In particolar there are three classes: menus, submenus and submenuitems. The relationships about three classes are: one menu - to many submenus one submenu - to many submenuitems. All classes have a boolean attribute called "Active". Now, i want to filter all the Menus with the SubMenus active, and the SubMenus with the SubMenuItems active. To get this i've tried this: var tmp = _model.Menus.Where(m => m.Active) .Select => new { Menu = x, SubMenu = x.SubMenus.Where(sb => sb.Active) .Select(y => new { SubMenu = y, SubMenuItem = y.SubMenuItems.Where(sbi => sbi.Active) }) }) .Select(x => x.Menu).ToList(); But didn't work.   • Making dynamic images have static filenames

    My website currently has various links to a php script that generates the images dynamically. For example, the link may say "img source="/dynamic_images.php?type=pie-chart&color=red" Obviously, this is not great for SEO. I'd like to somehow make the filenames of these links appear to be static, and use a solution (like Mod-Rewrite) to ensure that the images can still be dynamically created. I suppose I could have something like "img src="average-profits-in-scuba-diving-industry.png?type=pie-chart&color=red" (and use Mod-Rewrite to take care of changing the filename prefix to dynamic_images.php), but I'm afraid that the search engines would shy away from the querystring on the end of the image filename. Any solutions? Thanks in advance.

The codes in code.txt work well, but not when I use the pick line from code.txt. Instead of the full php line I get: "width" => "600", "height" => "400" ), "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnPCpCVepCg"); ?> How can I make the echo show the php code, rather than a txt version of the php code?

    I have a PHP application using an Oracle XE database. Whenever I add a date the hours minutes, and seconds seem to get left out. Is there some special format, or type I should use to be able to store this? I have tried using to_date, and specifying the format I am using.     I have some mod rewrite rules that test for the presence of a file on various NFS mounts and I would like that the tests occur randomly, as a very rudimentary way to distribute load. For example: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(.+)$ RewriteCond /mnt/mount1/%1 -f RewriteRule ^/(.+)$ /mnt/mount1/$1 [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(.+)$ RewriteCond /mnt/mount2/%1 -f RewriteRule ^/(.+)$ /mount2/$1 [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(.+)$ RewriteCond /mnt/mount3/%1 -f RewriteRule ^/(.+)$ /mnt/mount3/$1 [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(.+)$ RewriteCond /mnt/mount4/%1 -f RewriteRule ^/(.+)$ /mnt/mount4/$1 [L] As far as I understand mod_rewrite Apache will look for the file on /mnt/mount1, then mount2, mount3 and so on. Can I randomize this on each request? I understand this is an odd request but I need a creative solution to some unforeseen downtime. On a side note, do I need to redeclare RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(.+)$ each time like I have done? Thanks

    Hey, first off I point to the similar question. I spent more than an hour to set this up, but PathMatchingResourcePatternResolver still scans everything. I have one common.xml (that is imported from specific.xml) and a specific.xml bean definition file. The context is loaded from specific.xml. In common.xml there is this element: <context:component-scan base-package="cz.instance.transl"> <context:exclude-filter type="aspectj" expression="cz.instance.transl.model..* &amp;&amp; cz.instance.transl.service..* &amp;&amp; cz.instance.transl.hooks..*"/> </context:component-scan> Where classes in packages like cz.instance.transl.service.* should not be subject of scanning, but everything else in here cz.instance.transl.* should be scanned through. But PathMatchingResourcePatternResolver marks everything as matching resources. It is the same with regex. BTW: in xml style configuration, one can have many components that share a common.xml beans via "import resource" when loading context. How this is done when Annotation-based container configuration is used ?

  • How to include the right reference in C# using the "Browser" tab

    Hello: I am working on VS2010 C# and I want to add a .dll reference compiled under VS2008; this .dll exists in 2 versions: Debug and Release. The .dll is not under .NET, COM or projects tabs, so I only have the "browser" tab to add the .dll to the reference. My question is: How can I indicate to VS to take the release .dll version when I compile in the release mode and to take the debug .dll version when I compile in the debug mode? Thanks.

    Is there some way to ask Mercurial to show the revisions being diffed in the output? For example: $ hg diff -r trunk:development diff -r 08d51ecf22cf:ff5673e55b9f --git a/foo.c b/foo.c ... Or something similar? I've found that there have been a few times that I've taken a diff (eg, to review), but have later been unable to recreate it because I've forgotten which revisions it was taken against.

    I'm looking for a set of simple rules and redirects for my site. I've tried so many combinations that I'm starting to get confused. I'm not sure how to set this up. Generally, without mod-rewrite, I would use relative paths to link to files: <a href="link.php">Link</a> if it's in the same directory. Now I'd like to use this: <a href="link">Link</a> And so if you go to this page: localhost/mysite/link it will take you to the correct place, which would be: localhost/mysite/link.php But also, many directory levels deep I would like it to work as well: localhost/mysite/group/link2 would go to: localhost/mysite/group/link2.php and: localhost/mysite/group/section/link3 would go to: localhost/mysite/group/section/link3.php But then in all these cases, if someone were to type in this: localhost/mysite/group/section/link3.php in the URL bar, it would show this: localhost/mysite/group/section/link3 Thanks

    I basically have a div on my site that always has the same stuff. However, this div is not present on all pages which is why I won't use the dynamic web template. I was wondering if it was possible for PHP to get the code from a document on the server and put in into the div? Ex: <div id="section... then my text file contains <p>hello</p> Basically I want PHP to put it into the div when the user sees it. If theres a smarter way of acheiving this I'd be open to it as well.     I want to display the linklist widget only on a certain category. The current way the sidebar is fetched is: if (!function_exists('dynamic_sidebar') || !dynamic_sidebar(1)) Which doesnt give me a say in the calling of the links widget. If i put an if clause there, then the rest of the widgets dont get loaded. So i either need to customize the links widget it self or find a way to call the links widget directly? And how do i check which category i'm on?

    I am working on an enterprise level product that is designed around SQL Server Express and specifically its features (views, concurrent users, stored procedures, CASE and IF statements). Though we don't use any advanced SQL Server features, the database size limit of 4GB in the Express edition may up being a limitation. A work-around is that customers can move to more full-featured versions of SQL Server. The problem is that SQL Server Express deployment is not easy, and the installer size is huge. This is a major drawback for someone looking to try our product. You don't want end-users to not buy a product because the download is huge. Does anyone have any recommendations of a database that has a smaller footprint but all the features of Express and which can be migrated to express?
