  • Expanding Rows for Unique Checkboxes

    - by Marc Morgan
    I was just recently given a project for my job to write a script that compares two mysql databases and print out information into an html table. Currently, I am trying to insert a checkbox by each individual's name and when selected, rows pertaining to that individual will expand underneath the person's name. I am combining javascript into my script to do this, although I really have no experience is it. The problem I am having is that when any checkbox is selected, all the rows for each individual is expanding instead of the rows pertaining only to the one individual selected. Here is the coding so far: <?php $link = mysql_connect ($server = "harris.lib.fit.edu", $username = "", $password = "") or die(mysql_error()); $db = mysql_select_db ("library-test") or die(mysql_error()); $ids = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `ifc_studylog`") or die(mysql_error()); //not single quotes (tilda apostrophy) $x=0; $n=0; while($row = mysql_fetch_array( $ids )) { $tracksid1[$x] = $row['fitID']; $checkin[$x] = $row['checkin']; $checkout[$x] = $row['checkout']; $n++; $x++; } $names = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `ifc_users`") or die(mysql_error()); //not single quotes (tilda apostrophy) $x=0; while($row = mysql_fetch_array( $names )) { $tracksnamefirst[$x] = $row['firstName']; $tracksnamesecond[$x] = $row['lastname']; $tracksid2[$x] = $row['fitID']; $tracksuser[$x] = $row['tracks']; $x++; } $x=0; foreach($tracksid2 as $comparename) { $chk = strval($x); ?> <script type='text/javascript' src='http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.js'></script> <script type='text/javascript'> $(window).load(function () { $('.varx').click(function () { $('.text').toggle(this.checked); });}); </script> <?php echo '<td><input id = "<?=$chk?>" type="checkbox" class="varx" /></td>'; echo '<td align="center">'.$comparename.'</td>'; echo'<td align="center">'.$tracksnamefirst[$x].'</td>'; echo'<td align="center">'.$tracksnamesecond[$x].'</td>'; $z=0; foreach($tracksid1 as $compareid) { $HH=0; $MM =0; $SS =0; if($compareid == $comparename)// && $tracks==$tracksuser[$x]) { $SS = sprintf("%02s",(($checkout[$z]-$checkin[$z])%60)); $MM = sprintf("%02s",(($checkout[$z]-$checkin[$z])/60 %60)); $HH = sprintf("%02s",(($checkout[$z]-$checkin[$z])/3600 %24)); // echo'<td align="center">'.$HH.':'.$MM.':'.$SS.'</td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '<tr>'; echo "<td id='txt' class='text' align='center' colspan='2' style='display:none'></td>"; echo "<td id='txt' class='text' align='center' style='display:none'>".$checkin[$z]."</td>"; echo '</tr>'; } echo '<tr>'; $z++; echo '</tr>'; } $x++; } } ?> Any Help is appreciated and sorry if I am too vague on the subject.   • What can cause legit MySql INSERT INTO command to fail?

    - by Makis
    I can't figure out what's causing my INSERT INTO's to fail to certain table in MySql. I can manage them to other tables. The table looks like: CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `Match` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `match_no` int(11) NOT NULL, `season` int(11) NOT NULL, `hometeam` int(11) NOT NULL, `awayteam` int(11) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`), KEY `match_no` (`match_no`), KEY `season` (`season`), KEY `hometeam` (`hometeam`), KEY `awayteam` (`awayteam`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=1 ; And the command is INSERT INTO Match (`match_no`, `season`, `hometeam`, `awaytem`) VALUES (1, 1, 2, 3) All I get is: 1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Match (match_no, season, hometeam, awaytem) VALUES (1, 1, 2, 3)' at line 1 I have checked the manual and half-a-dozen examples from the web and whatnought and tried all sorts of changes to the syntax in case there is some MySql specific oddity, but nothing seems to work.

  • What's the cause of (and treatment for) this java MySQL exception?

    - by justkevin
    I'm getting the following exception when executing the first preparedstatement after a period of inactivity: com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.CommunicationsException: Communications link failure The last packet successfully received from the server was 2,855,054 milliseconds ago. The last packet sent successfully to the server was 123 milliseconds ago. at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Unknown Source) at com.mysql.jdbc.Util.handleNewInstance(Util.java:406) at com.mysql.jdbc.SQLError.createCommunicationsException(SQLError.java:1074) at com.mysql.jdbc.MysqlIO.reuseAndReadPacket(MysqlIO.java:3052) at com.mysql.jdbc.MysqlIO.reuseAndReadPacket(MysqlIO.java:2938) at com.mysql.jdbc.MysqlIO.checkErrorPacket(MysqlIO.java:3481) at com.mysql.jdbc.MysqlIO.sendCommand(MysqlIO.java:1959) at com.mysql.jdbc.MysqlIO.sqlQueryDirect(MysqlIO.java:2109) at com.mysql.jdbc.ConnectionImpl.execSQL(ConnectionImpl.java:2648) at com.mysql.jdbc.PreparedStatement.executeInternal(PreparedStatement.java:2077) at com.mysql.jdbc.PreparedStatement.executeQuery(PreparedStatement.java:2228) This only shows up if my application hasn't communicated with MySQL recently. Subsequent queries execute normally. I suspect it's some kind of timeout issue, but the periods of inactivity are way below the 8 hour timeout for MySQL. Any suggestions?

  • MySQL: Is it faster to use inserts and updates instead of insert on duplicate key update?

    - by Nir
    I have a cron job that updates a large number of rows in a database. Some of the rows are new and therefore inserted and some are updates of existing ones and therefore update. I use insert on duplicate key update for the whole data and get it done in one call. But- I actually know which rows are new and which are updated so I can also do inserts and updates seperately. Will seperating the inserts and updates have advantage in terms of performance? What are the mechanics behind this ? Thanks!

  • Mysql replace() function, help with query (what chars do I escape?)

    - by jyoseph
    I am trying to update an old cms where images were stored in /images/editor/, they are now stored in a bucket on amazon s3. I'm trying to update the database using mysql replace. I've done this in the past with replacing simple words, but now Mysql is reporting an error, I suspect because this is more than a simple word: UPDATE contents SET desc = replace(desc, '/images/editor/', 'http://s3.amazonaws.com/my_bucket/editor/') Do I need to escape the : or slashes? I've tried escaping it with a '\' to no avail. Can someone get me pointed in the right direction? Thanks! Edit Here's the error I am getting, nothing too telling error : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'desc = replace(desc, '/images/editor', 'http://s3.amazonaws.com/app_navigator/ed' at line 1

  • mysql join with multiple values in one column

    - by CYREX
    I need to make a query that creates 3 columns that come from 2 tables which have the following relations: TABLE 1 has Column ID that relates to TABLE 2 with column ID2 In TABLE 1 there is a column called user In TABLE 2 there is a column called names There can be 1 unique user but there can be many names associated to that user. If i do the following i get all data BUT the user column repeats itself for each name it has associated. What i want is for use to appear unique but the names columns appear with all the names associated to the user column but separated by commas, like the following: select user,names from TABLE1 left join TABLE2 on TABLE1.id = TABLE2.id This will show the users repeated everytime a name appears for that user. what i want is to appear like this: USER - NAMES cyrex - pedrox, rambo, zelda homeboy - carmen, carlos, tom, sandra jerry - seinfeld, christine ninja - soloboy etc....

  • Overlap of the variable in mysql, my column are set to my query result

    - by foodil
    The question is not clear , let me clarify it: try{ $sql = ' SELECT UserID <==== (***********Used here for query ******) FROM user WHERE Rights != ?'; $stmt = $conn->prepare($sql); $stmt->execute(array('admin')); $result= $stmt->fetchAll(); } catch(PDOException $e) { die ($e->getMessage().'<a href="add.php"> Back</a>'); } foreach ($result as $set) { if ($set['UserID']==$_SESSION['username']) $rights='edit'; else {$rights=$_POST[$set['UserID']];} if (($rights != 'default' || $set['UserID']==$_SESSION['username']) && $_POST['public']==0 ) { $user=$set['UserID']; try { $query="INSERT INTO user_list(UserID <==== (***********Used here for insert ******),ListID,UserRights) VALUES ($user,$lastID,$rights)"; $stmt = $conn->prepare($query); $stmt->execute(); } catch(PDOException $e) { die ($e->getMessage().'<a href="add.php"> Back</a>'); $conn->rollBack(); } } } As you can see the UserID is a query result but it is also the column i need to insert, so when i insert into the table it will casued an error SQLSTATE[42S22]: Column not found: 1054 Unknown column 'UserA_ID' in 'field list' because the column is modify by my query result from: $query="INSERT INTO user_list(UserID,ListID,UserRights) VALUES ($user,$lastID,$rights)"; to: $query="INSERT INTO user_list(query_result_id,ListID,UserRights) VALUES ($user,$lastID,$rights)"; How to fix it ?Thank you.

  • Auto backup mysql database to dropbox [closed]

    - by Rob
    Is it possible to automatically backup my database to dropbox? If so how can I do it? The key criteria I need it to do is: Be automatic. Be Mac compliant. Be weekly. Sync with dropbox (http://www.dropbox.com) automatically. Be able to backup several databases from several websites. Be free... or relatively cheap! Have a guide on how to setup the solution. UPDATE: I've managed to setup an auto weekly backup using a cronjob: mysqldump -u username -pMyPassword Mydatabase > backup-file.sql That is saving the backup to my hosting space. It's a start but isn't ideal, how can I save that backup to a folder on my computer? Automatically of course.

  • MySQL: operation of summing and division ?

Below is a rough idea of what I'm looking for: SELECT MAX(SUM(points)/SUM(score)) FROM users I'm not interested in adding up both columns and dividing, rather I'm interested in dividing the points and score for each user and retrieve the highest value out of the lot.

  • Synchronizing Mysql Table Schema [on hold]

    - by user1122069
    I have some difficulty keeping track of my SQL changes in a text file in SVN. One solution that I am aware of is to put the SQL queries in files (1.sql, 2.sql...) and to manually load each file at the proper time. Besides missing commas, the process is too cumbersome when builds become more frequent. I have actually taken to asking a co-worker to send me his SQL changes on Skype and we just apply the changes immediately on our local, development, and production servers (using three PhpMyAdmin tabs). I have seen several GUI tools mentioned in similar questions on SO, but these are actually more work and less automated than the aforementioned methods. Is there any standardized process by which this is done in an automated way? I can only guess that large companies build their own mechanisms of keeping track of database schema changes (yet I can't find a word about it - maybe they use files?). This question was closed as off-topic on Stack Overflow, so I am re-posting it here.

  • How can I get the rank of rows relative to total number of rows based on a field?

    - by Arms
    I have a scores table that has two fields: user_id score I'm fetching specific rows that match a list of user_id's. How can I determine a rank for each row relative to the total number of rows, based on score? The rows in the result set are not necessarily sequential (the scores will vary widely from one row to the next). I'm not sure if this matters, but user_id is a unique field. Edit @Greelmo I'm already ordering the rows. If I fetch 15 rows, I don't want the rank to be 1-15. I need it to be the position of that row compared against the entire table by the score property. So if I have 200 rows, one row's rank may be 3 and another may be 179 (these are arbitrary #'s for example only). Edit 2 I'm having some luck with this query, but I actually want to avoid ties SELECT s.score , s.created_at , u.name , u.location , u.icon_id , u.photo , (SELECT COUNT(*) + 1 FROM scores WHERE score > s.score) AS rank FROM scores s LEFT JOIN users u ON u.uID = s.user_id ORDER BY s.score DESC , s.created_at DESC LIMIT 15 If two or more rows have the same score, I want the latest one (or earliest - I don't care) to be ranked higher. I tried modifying the subquery with AND id > s.id but that ended up giving me an unexpected result set and different ties.

  • How to combine two rows and calculate the time difference between two timestamp values in MySQL?

    - by Nadar
    I have a situation that I'm sure is quite common and it's really bothering me that I can't figure out how to do it or what to search for to find a relevant example/solution. I'm relatively new to MySQL (have been using MSSQL and PostgreSQL earlier) and every approach I can think of is blocked by some feature lacking in MySQL. I have a "log" table that simply lists many different events with their timestamp (stored as datetime type). There's lots of data and columns in the table not relevant to this problem, so lets say we have a simple table like this: CREATE TABLE log ( id INT NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, name VARCHAR(16), ts DATETIME NOT NULL, eventtype VARCHAR(25), PRIMARY KEY (id) ) Let's say that some rows have an eventtype = 'start' and others have an eventtype = 'stop'. What I want to do is to somehow couple each "startrow" with each "stoprow" and find the time difference between the two (and then sum the durations per each name, but that's not where the problem lies). Each "start" event should have a corresponding "stop" event occuring at some stage later then the "start" event, but because of problems/bugs/crashed with the data collector it could be that some are missing. In that case I would like to disregard the event without a "partner". That means that given the data: foo, 2010-06-10 19:45, start foo, 2010-06-10 19:47, start foo, 2010-06-10 20:13, stop ..I would like to just disregard the 19:45 start event and not just get two result rows both using the 20:13 stop event as the stop time. I've tried to join the table with itself in different ways, but the key problems for me seems to be to find a way to correctly identify the corresponding "stop" event to the "start" event for the given "name". The problem is exactly the same as you would have if you had table with employees stamping in and out of work and wanted to find out how much they actually were at work. I'm sure there must be well known solutions to this, but I can't seem to find them...

  • Use Windows/Mac MySQL GUI over SSH Tunnel

    - by Marcin
    I am working on a client's website and he has hosting through 1and1. They don't allow connecting directly to their mySQL server from anywhere. I can't for instance load up a mySQL GUI on windows and just connect and work on the databases, it says host not found. His hosting account on the other hand is given access to the mySQL server even though it is in a different location. Let's say these are the servers I'm working with: His main hosting: Address: thehost.com Username: joe His mySQL server: Address: mysqlserver.com Port: 3306 Database: thedata User: dbouser The main hosting account he has comes with SSH. So if I SSH into thehost.com on port 22 and then use the mysql command to connect to mysqlserver.com, it works. I have tried to set up SSH tunneling but the problem is that it's not the mySQL server that has SSH allowed, it's the main hosting. How do I set up SSH Tunneling on both a Mac and a Windows machine so that I can run any GUI I want and I will be able to connect to the mysqlserver.com server. All based on the information above that SSH access is to thehost.com only, and thehost.com itself can connect to mysqlserver.com.

    I created a Database, a table and inserted some data, and found this binlog.0000001 in my log folder, but when I do mysqlbinlog binlog.0000001, it only shows stuff below, seems incomplete: (There's only two files in the log dir: binlog.000001 binlog.index) /*!40019 SET @@session.max_insert_delayed_threads=0*/; /*!50003 SET @OLD_COMPLETION_TYPE=@@COMPLETION_TYPE,COMPLETION_TYPE=0*/; DELIMITER /*!*/; # at 4 #120924 21:12:56 server id 1 end_log_pos 107 Start: binlog v 4, server v 5.5.24-0ubuntu0.12.04.1-log created 120924 21:12:56 at startup # Warning: this binlog is either in use or was not closed properly. ROLLBACK/*!*/; BINLOG ' GAVhUA8BAAAAZwAAAGsAAAABAAQANS41LjI0LTB1YnVudHUwLjEyLjA0LjEtbG9nAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYBWFQEzgNAAgAEgAEBAQEEgAAVAAEGggAAAAICAgCAA== '/*!*/; DELIMITER ; # End of log file ROLLBACK /* added by mysqlbinlog */; /*!50003 SET COMPLETION_TYPE=@OLD_COMPLETION_TYPE*/; If this warning was the cause: Warning: this binlog is either in use or was not closed properly.. How do I force close the log? EDIT After flush logs command, I see "0 rows" affected, and a few new files, binlog.000001 binlog.000002 binlog.000003 binlog.000004 binlog.index, the contents are nearly the same as binlog.000001. Now I dropped the database, and try restore it with mysqlbinlog binlog.0* | mysql -u root -p, but the database wasn't recovered. EDIT 2 [mysqld] user = mysql pid-file = /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid socket = /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock port = 3306 basedir = /usr datadir = /var/lib/mysql tmpdir = /tmp lc-messages-dir = /usr/share/mysql skip-external-locking log-bin=/var/log/mysql/binlog binlog-do-db=mydb bind-address = 127.0.0.1 key_buffer = 16M max_allowed_packet = 16M thread_stack = 192K thread_cache_size = 8 myisam-recover = BACKUP query_cache_limit = 1M query_cache_size = 16M expire_logs_days = 10 max_binlog_size = 100M P.S /var/log/mysql{.err,.log} are both empty

  • jboss 5.1 mysql connection pooling

    - by boyd4715
    I am using JBOSS 5.1.0.GA, MySQL 5.5 and Hibernate 3.3.1 GA (included with JBOSS) + Spring. My question is do I need to add c3p0 as a data source in my spring/hibernate configuration for connection pooling or are the setting in the JBOSS mysql-ds.xml setting enough. My mysql-ds.xml is the following: <datasources> <local-tx-datasource> <jndi-name>MySqlDS</jndi-name> <connection-url>jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/ecotrak</connection-url> <driver-class>com.mysql.jdbc.Driver</driver-class> <user-name>ecotrak</user-name> <password>ecotrak</password> <min-pool-size>5</min-pool-size> <max-pool-size>20</max-pool-size> <idle-timeout-minutes>5</idle-timeout-minutes> <exception-sorter-class-name>org.jboss.resource.adapter.jdbc.vendor.MySQLExceptionSorter</exception-sorter-class-name> <!-- should only be used on drivers after 3.22.1 with "ping" support --> <valid-connection-checker-class-name>org.jboss.resource.adapter.jdbc.vendor.MySQLValidConnectionChecker</valid-connection-checker-class-name> <!-- sql to call when connection is created <new-connection-sql>some arbitrary sql</new-connection-sql> --> <!-- sql to call on an existing pooled connection when it is obtained from pool - MySQLValidConnectionChecker is preferred for newer drivers <check-valid-connection-sql>some arbitrary sql</check-valid-connection-sql> --> <!-- corresponding type-mapping in the standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml (optional) --> <metadata> <type-mapping>mySQL</type-mapping> </metadata> </local-tx-datasource> </datasources>

  • Updated XAMPP with MySQL, all my tables are missing

    - by user371699
    I just updated XAMPP to a newer version, which included updating MySQL from 5.5 to 5.6. Using phpMyAdmin, however, all of my tables within my databases still appear on the left navigation panel, but the main window shows that all my databases are empty (except for information_schema, and a couple other default tables.) Clicking on a table in the navigation panel gives me a "table doesn't exist" message. It does looks like information_schema.tables doesn't have my tables, either. Can anyone assist me with this? I did make a complete backup of all my databases before the upgrade, but I first want to see if I can fix this the "normal" way. Furthermore, I'm not sure if the MySQL upgrade involved making changes to the information/performance databases, so I don't know if I can restore the old ones. Thank you. EDIT: Continuing my searching, I realized that only the INNODB databases are missing. I've tried running the following with no avail: /opt/lampp/bin $ sudo ./mysql_install_db --basedir=/opt/lampp and /opt/lampp/bin $ sudo ./mysql_install_db --basedir=/opt/lampp --datadir=/opt/lampp/var/mysql The my.cnf file in /opt/lampp/etc contains the following InnoDB settings: innodb_data_home_dir = /opt/lampp/var/mysql/ innodb_data_file_path = ibdata1:10M:autoextend innodb_log_group_home_dir = /opt/lampp/var/mysql/ # You can set .._buffer_pool_size up to 50 - 80 % # of RAM but beware of setting memory usage too high innodb_buffer_pool_size = 16M # Deprecated in 5.6 #innodb_additional_mem_pool_size = 2M # Set .._log_file_size to 25 % of buffer pool size innodb_log_file_size = 5M innodb_log_buffer_size = 8M innodb_flush_log_at_trx_commit = 1 innodb_lock_wait_timeout = 50 What could possibly be wrong? Why is the information_schema not updating correctly? It looks like /opt/lampp/var/mysql has all my tables in it within the database directories, but they're still not showing up in information_schema.
