  • Map caps-lock key to middle mouse click

    - by Stefano Palazzo
Since I rarely use caps-lock, I'd like to map the key to a middle mouse click instead. I would also like to map Alt+Caps Lock to the original function of the caps lock key, should I ever need it. I can map any keyboard shortcut to xdotool click 2, but the Gnome Keyboard Shortcuts dialog won't let me assign a command to the caps-lock key, even with modifiers. I know this is a bit of a strange undertaking; How would I go about doing it?

  • Logitech Performance Mouse MX (and More) Review

The glass-topped desk -- which has stymied optical and laser mice for years -- has been conquered at last by Logitech's ultimate tracking technology. The annoyance of needing separate USB receivers for your cordless mouse and keyboard is history, too.

  • mouse to Three.js world coordinates during TrackballControls

    - by PanChan
    I know there are a lot of answers how to translate the mouse coordinates to the Three.js world coordinates (I prefere this one). But I have troubles on calculating when using TrackballControls. First what I expect to do: I want to add a zoom function to my scene. Not by the mouse wheel, the user should be able to draw a rectangular and by lifting the mouse button, the camera is zooming on this rectangular. I've implemented all and it works, but only when the user didn't rotate/zoom/pan with TrackballControls! If the camera was manipulated, I get wrong coordinates for my drawn rectangular. I really can't figure out why... I only know that it's an issue with TrackballControls, because without them, it works. Does anyone see my mistake? I'm sitting here for two days now and can't find it.... :( var onZoomPlaneMouseDown = function(event){ event.preventDefault(); var plane = document.getElementById("zoomPlane"); var innerPlane = document.getElementById("innerZoomPlane"); var mouseButton = event.keyCode || event.which; mouse.x = ( event.clientX / WIDTH ) * 2 - 1; mouse.y = - ( event.clientY / HEIGHT ) * 2 + 1; if(mouseButton === 1){ var vector = new THREE.Vector3( mouse.x, mouse.y, 0.5 ); projector.unprojectVector( vector, camera ); var dir = vector.sub( camera.position ).normalize(); var distance = - camera.position.z / dir.z; zoomPlaneUpperCorner = camera.position.clone().add( dir.multiplyScalar( distance ) ); innerPlane.style.display = "block"; innerPlane.style.top = event.clientY + "px"; innerPlane.style.left = event.clientX + "px"; } if(mouseButton === 3){ plane.style.display = "none"; innerPlane.style.display = "none"; } }; var onZoomPlaneMouseUp = function(event){ event.preventDefault(); var plane = document.getElementById("zoomPlane"); var innerPlane = document.getElementById("innerZoomPlane"); var mouseButton = event.keyCode || event.which; mouse.x = ( event.clientX / WIDTH ) * 2 - 1; mouse.y = - ( event.clientY / HEIGHT ) * 2 + 1; var vector = new THREE.Vector3( mouse.x, mouse.y, 0.5 ); projector.unprojectVector( vector, camera ); var dir = vector.sub( camera.position ).normalize(); var distance = - camera.position.z / dir.z; zoomPlaneLowerCorner = camera.position.clone().add( dir.multiplyScalar( distance ) ); if(mouseButton === 1){ plane.style.display = "none"; innerPlane.style.display = "none"; var center = new THREE.Vector3(); center.subVectors(zoomPlaneLowerCorner, zoomPlaneUpperCorner); center.multiplyScalar( 0.5 ); center.add(zoomPlaneUpperCorner); var rayDir = new THREE.Vector3(); rayDir.subVectors(center, camera.position ).normalize(); controls.target = center; var height = zoomPlaneUpperCorner.y - zoomPlaneLowerCorner.y; var distanceToCenter = camera.position.distanceTo(center); var minDist = (height / 2) / (Math.tan((camera.fov/2)*Math.PI/180)); camera.translateOnAxis(rayDir, (distanceToCenter - minDist)); } };

  • fitting buttons for multiple screens

    - by user3360327
    I want to develop my own keyboard and when I put first line button as you see the buttons are not fitting with any screens size. these are my questions: 1) how can I fit them? 2) is <TableLayout> is correct view layout? if it's not, which one is correct? this is XML code: <TableLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TableRow> <Button android:id="@+id/btnQ" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/strQ" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnW" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/strW" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnE" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/strE" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnR" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/strR" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnT" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/strT" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnY" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/strY" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnU" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/strU" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnI" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/strI" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnO" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/strO" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnP" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/strP" /> </TableLayout>

  • GLOBAL loading inside each single button with Jquery in ajax calls of asp.net mvc

    - by Ricky
I have the following scenario: I have a button\link with a image inside like this: <button type="submit" id="myButton" class="button"><img src="../../Content/images/check.png" id="defaultImage" /> SaveData!!!</button> We are OK here! Now what I need to do is: I want on the click that the image change for a loading element that is previously loaded in the page like this: <img id="loadingImage" src="../../Content/images/loader.gif" style="display: none;" alt="loading"/> And then when the load complete turn back the old button image, I ended with this code: function loader() { var $button = $('#myButton'); if (btnState == '1') { $button.find('img').hide(); $button.prepend($('#loadingImage')); $('#loadingImage').css({ 'display': 'inherit' }); btnState = '0'; } else { $button.find('img').hide(); $button.prepend($('#defaultImage')); $('#defaultImage').show(); btnState = '1'; } } This does the trick for ONE SINGLE button(since I pass its ID in the function) but, when I have for example a grid with a button on each line, I found inviable when managing a screen with many buttons do this for each of then. The main question is: How can I make this method general for all buttons/links on one specific class in the page? The goal is: Click a button, get the image and change it and stop(can be manual). I just don't wanna have to Hook ALL buttons.

  • How does the momentum/inertial scroll work with the Magic Mouse on NSScrollView?

    - by jbrennan
When you scroll with the newer Apple Magic Mouse (at least on 10.6, I can't confirm any previous Mac OS) you get inertial scroll like scrolling on iPhone (that is, after a flick of the finger to scroll, it doesn't abruptly stop, but instead gradually slows down). This behaviour is "for free" with all NSScrollViews, it would appear. There are exceptional cases, such as Tweetie for Mac (I've heard Tweetie was written with a custom Table View class that works akin to how UITableView works on iPhone). My question is, how do the scroll views know how to do this inertial scrolling? My guess is the mouse [driver] repeatedly sends scroll events with a dampening scroll magnitude (or something like that) over the scroll period. But I'm not really sure how it works. I am having some scrolling problems in my scrollview class and I'm trying to figure out why (obviously we don't have the source code to Tweetie to see why it doesn't get the proper scrolling), but just trying to better understand how it works in order to fix my own problems.

  • How can I know when a Button in a Flex DataGrid itemRenderer is clicked?

    - by Eric Belair
I have a DataGrid component that displays a few columns of data. It has one additional column that displays a Button that allows the user to take an action with regard to the record. <mx:DataGrid dataProvider="{myData}"> <mx:columns> <mx:DataGridColumn dataField="firstName" headerText="First Name" width="75" /> <mx:DataGridColumn dataField="LastName" headerText=" Last Name" width="150" /> <mx:DataGridColumn dataField="phone" headerText="Phone" width="120" /> <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="" width="110"> <mx:itemRenderer> <mx:Component> <mx:Box horizontalAlign="center" width="100%"> <mx:Button label="Take Action" /> </mx:Box> </mx:Component> </mx:itemRenderer> </mx:DataGridColumn> </mx:columns> </mx:DataGrid> I need to perform an action in the parent component, using other data that is available there, but unrelated to the data in the DataGrid. What is the best way to catch the Button click in the parent component, and know what record it corresponds to? Should I use a Custom Event, or an itemEditor, or something else completely?

  • Issue on dojo onlick event on html button

    - by Cuong Le
    I am a new kid with dojo, I got weird issue which I take lots of time and have not yet found out, assume I have 4 buttons: <button id="btnMoveFirst" data-dojo-type="dijit.form.Button" iconclass="plusIcon"> &lt; &lt;</button> <button id="btnMovePrev" data-dojo-type="dijit.form.Button" iconclass="plusIcon"> &lt;</button> <button id="btnMoveNext" data-dojo-type="dijit.form.Button" iconclass="plusIcon"> &gt;</button> <button id="btnMoveLast" data-dojo-type="dijit.form.Button" iconclass="plusIcon"> &gt; &gt;</button> And use dojo with event onclick as below: dojo.connect(dijit.registry.byId('btnMoveFirst'), "onclick", function(evt){ alert('test1'); }); dojo.connect(dijit.registry.byId('btnMovePrev'), "onclick", function(evt){ alert('test2'); }); dojo.connect(dijit.registry.byId('btnMoveNext'), "onclick", function(evt){ alert('test3'); }); dojo.connect(dijit.registry.byId('btnMoveLast'), "onclick", function(evt){ alert('test4'); }); But when I click any one of 4 buttons, or even any button in form, I got 4 alerts instead of only correct one. Does anyone know this?

  • Avoid hourglass mouse cursor when calling a web-service?

    - by BigMoose
I don't know if this is a general web-services issue or just my specific scenario, which is a WPF application with a DispatcherTimer calling a web-service method. Whenever the timer is called, the mouse cursor automatically changes to an hourglass cursor. The processing of the call is very short and happens every 3 seconds, so the user experience is that every 3 seconds the mouse filckers as an hourglass for a split-second and then goes back to the normal cursor representation. How can I avoid this inconvenience? Thanks.

  • javascript - How to change a button from another function?

    - by Fernando SBS
    var ButtonFarmAtivada = new Array(); function X() { var tableCol = dom.cn("td"); //cell 0 //create start checkbox button ButtonFarmAtivada[index] = createInputButton("checkbox", index); ButtonFarmAtivada[index].name = "buttonFarmAtivada_"+index; ButtonFarmAtivada[index].checked = GM_getValue("farmAtivada_"+index, true); FM_log(3,"checkboxFarm "+(index)+" = "+GM_getValue("farmAtivada_"+index)); ButtonFarmAtivada[index].addEventListener("click", function() { rp_farmAtivada(index); }, false); tableCol.appendChild(ButtonFarmAtivada[i]); tableRow.appendChild(tableCol); // add the cell } 1) is it possible to create the button inside an array as I'm trying to do in that example? like an array of buttons? 2) I ask that because I will have to change this button later from another function, and I'm trying to do that like this (not working): function rp_marcadesmarcaFarm(valor) { var vListID = getAllVillageId().toString(); FM_log(4,"MarcaDesmarcaFarm + vListID="+vListID); var attackList = vListID.split(","); for (i = 0; i <= attackList.length; i++) { FM_log(3, "Marca/desmarca = "+i+" "+buttonFarmAtivada[i].Checked); ButtonFarmAtivada[i].Checked = valor; }; };

  • tmux -- any way to enable scrolling, but not selection?

    - by gatoatigrado
I like that when mode-mouse is on in tmux, I can scroll through the buffer, but I don't like that I can't copy stuff to my OS clipboard by selecting it (as when tmux is disabled). Question: Is there any way to enable mouse scrolling, but not selection? I'm using KDE's konsole, if it matters. I've tried setting, set -g mouse-select-pane off set -g mouse-select-window off but no luck -- the only difference seems to be whether mode-mouse is on (tmux captures scrolling and selection) or off (tmux captures neither scrolling nor selection).

  • Search Form in Responsive Design - Remove Search button on Mobile

    - by Kevin
I'm working with a search box in the header of a responsive website. On desktop/tablet widths, there's a search input field and a styled 'search' button to the right. You can type in a search term and either click 'SEARCH' button or just hit enter on the keyboard with the same result. When you scale down to mobile widths, the search input field fills the width of the screen. The submit button falls below it. On a desktop, clicking the button or hitting enter activate the search. On an actual iphone phone, you can hit the 'SEARCH' button, but the native mobile keyboard that rises from the bottom of the screen has a search button where the enter/return key would normally be. It seems to know I'm in a form and the keyboard automatically gives me the option to kick off the search by basically hitting the ENTER key location....but it says SEARCH. So far so good. I figure I don't need the button in the header on mobile since it's already in the keyboard. Therefore, I'll hide the button on mobile widths and everything will be tighter and look better. So I added this to my CSS to hide it in mobile: #search-button {display: none;} But now the search doesn't work at all. On mobile, I don't get the option in the keyboard that showed up before and if I just hit enter, it doesn't work at all. On desktop at mobile width, hitting enter also not longer works. So clearly by hiding the submit/search button, the phone no longer gave me the native option to run the search. In addition, on the desktop at mobile width, even hitting enter inside the search input box also fails to launch the the search. Here's my search box: <form id="search-form" method="get" accept-charset="UTF-8, utf-8" action="search.php"> <fieldset> <div id="search-wrapper"> <label id="search-label" for="search">Item:</label> <input id="search" class="placeholder-color" name="item" type="text" placeholder="Item Number or Description" /> <button id="search-button" title="Go" type="submit"><span class="search-icon"></span></button> </div> </fieldset> </form> Here's what my CSS looks like: #search-wrapper { float: left; display: inline-block; position: relative; white-space: nowrap; } #search-button { display: inline-block; cursor: pointer; vertical-align: top; height: 30px; width: 40px; } @media only screen and (max-width: 639px) { #search-wrapper { display: block; margin-bottom: 7px; } #search-button { /* this didn't work....it hid the button but the search failed to load */ display: none;*/ } } So.....how can I hide this submit button when I'm on a mobile screen, but still let the search run from the mobile keyboard or just run by hitting enter when in the search input box. I was sure that putting display:none on the search button at mobile width would do the trick, but apparently not. Thanks...

  • SQLAuthority News – Job Interviewing the Right Way (and for the Right Reasons) – Guest Post by Feodor Georgiev

    - by pinaldave
Feodor Georgiev is a SQL Server database specialist with extensive experience of thinking both within and outside the box. He has wide experience of different systems and solutions in the fields of architecture, scalability, performance, etc. Feodor has experience with SQL Server 2000 and later versions, and is certified in SQL Server 2008. Feodor has written excellent article on Job Interviewing the Right Way. Here is his article in his own language. A while back I was thinking to start a blog post series on interviewing and employing IT personnel. At that time I had just read the ‘Smart and gets things done’ book (http://www.joelonsoftware.com/items/2007/06/05.html) and I was hyped up on some debatable topics regarding finding and employing the best people in the branch. I have no problem with hiring the best of the best; it’s just the definition of ‘the best of the best’ that makes things a bit more complicated. One of the fundamental books one can read on the topic of interviewing is the one mentioned above. If you have not read it, then you must do so; not because it contains the ultimate truth, and not because it gives the answers to most questions on the subject, but because the book contains an extensive set of questions about interviewing and employing people. Of course, a big part of these questions have different answers, depending on location, culture, available funds and so on. (What works in the US may not necessarily work in the Nordic countries or India, or it may work in a different way). The only thing that is valid regardless of any external factor is this: curiosity. In my belief there are two kinds of people – curious and not-so-curious; regardless of profession. Think about it – professional success is directly proportional to the individual’s curiosity + time of active experience in the field. (I say ‘active experience’ because vacations and any distractions do not count as experience :)  ) So, curiosity is the factor which will distinguish a good employee from the not-so-good one. But let’s shift our attention to something else for now: a few tips and tricks for successful interviews. Tip and trick #1: get your priorities straight. Your status usually dictates your priorities; for example, if the person looking for a job has just relocated to a new country, they might tend to ignore some of their priorities and overload others. In other words, setting priorities straight means to define the personal criteria by which the interview process is lead. For example, similar to the following questions can help define the criteria for someone looking for a job: How badly do I need a (any) job? Is it more important to work in a clean and quiet environment or is it important to get paid well (or both, if possible)? And so on… Furthermore, before going to the interview, the candidate should have a list of priorities, sorted by the most importance: e.g. I want a quiet environment, x amount of money, great helping boss, a desk next to a window and so on. Also it is a good idea to be prepared and know which factors can be compromised and to what extent. Tip and trick #2: the interview is a two-way street. A job candidate should not forget that the interview process is not a one-way street. What I mean by this is that while the employer is interviewing the potential candidate, the job seeker should not miss the chance to interview the employer. Usually, the employer and the candidate will meet for an interview and talk about a variety of topics. In a quality interview the candidate will be presented to key members of the team and will have the opportunity to ask them questions. By asking the right questions both parties will define their opinion about each other. For example, if the candidate talks to one of the potential bosses during the interview process and they notice that the potential manager has a hard time formulating a question, then it is up to the candidate to decide whether working with such person is a red flag for them. There are as many interview processes out there as there are companies and each one is different. Some bigger companies and corporates can afford pre-selection processes, 3 or even 4 stages of interviews, small companies usually settle with one interview. Some companies even give cognitive tests on the interview. Why not? In his book Joel suggests that a good candidate should be pampered and spoiled beyond belief with a week-long vacation in New York, fancy hotels, food and who knows what. For all I can imagine, an interview might even take place at the top of the Eifel tower (right, Mr. Joel, right?) I doubt, however, that this is the optimal way to capture the attention of a good employee. The ‘curiosity’ topic What I have learned so far in my professional experience is that opinions can be subjective. Plus, opinions on technology subjects can also be subjective. According to Joel, only hiring the best of the best is worth it. If you ask me, there is no such thing as best of the best, simply because human nature (well, aside from some physical limitations, like putting your pants on through your head :) ) has no boundaries. And why would it have boundaries? I have seen many curious and interesting people, naturally good at technology, though uninterested in it as one  can possibly be; I have also seen plenty of people interested in technology, who (in an ideal world) should have stayed far from it. At any rate, all of this sums up at the end to the ‘supply and demand’ factor. The interview process big-bang boils down to this: If there is a mutual benefit for both the employer and the potential employee to work together, then it all sorts out nicely. If there is no benefit, then it is much harder to get to a common place. Tip and trick #3: word-of-mouth is worth a thousand words Here I would just mention that the best thing a job candidate can get during the interview process is access to future team members or other employees of the new company. Nowadays the world has become quite small and everyone knows everyone. Look at LinkedIn, look at other professional networks and you will realize how small the world really is. Knowing people is a good way to become more approachable and to approach them. Tip and trick #4: Be confident. It is true that for some people confidence is as natural as breathing and others have to work hard to express it. Confidence is, however, a key factor in convincing the other side (potential employer or employee) that there is a great chance for success by working together. But it cannot get you very far if it’s not backed up by talent, curiosity and knowledge. Tip and trick #5: The right reasons What really bothers me in Sweden (and I am sure that there are similar situations in other countries) is that there is a tendency to fill quotas and to filter out candidates by criteria different from their skill and knowledge. In job ads I see quite often the phrases ‘positive thinker’, ‘team player’ and many similar hints about personality features. So my guess here is that discrimination has evolved to a new level. Let me clear up the definition of discrimination: ‘unfair treatment of a person or group on the basis of prejudice’. And prejudice is the ‘partiality that prevents objective consideration of an issue or situation’. In other words, there is not much difference whether a job candidate is filtered out by race, gender or by personality features – it is all a bad habit. And in reality, there is no proven correlation between the technology knowledge paired with skills and the personal features (gender, race, age, optimism). It is true that a significantly greater number of Darwin awards were given to men than to women, but I am sure that somewhere there is a paper or theory explaining the genetics behind this. J This topic actually brings to mind one of my favorite work related stories. A while back I was working for a big company with many teams involved in their processes. One of the teams was occupying 2 rooms – one had the team members and was full of light, colorful posters, chit-chats and giggles, whereas the other room was dark, lighted only by a single monitor with a quiet person in front of it. Later on I realized that the ‘dark room’ person was the guru and the ultimate problem-solving-brain who did not like the chats and giggles and hence was in a separate room. In reality, all severe problems which the chatty and cheerful team members could not solve and all emergencies were directed to ‘the dark room’. And thus all worked out well. The moral of the story: Personality has nothing to do with technology knowledge and skills. End of story. Summary: I’d like to stress the fact that there is no ultimately perfect candidate for a job, and there is no such thing as ‘best-of-the-best’. From my personal experience, the main criteria by which I measure people (co-workers and bosses) is the curiosity factor; I know from experience that the more curious and inventive a person is, the better chances there are for great achievements in their field. Related stories: (for extra credit) 1) Get your priorities straight. A while back as a consultant I was working for a few days at a time at different offices and for different clients, and so I was able to compare and analyze the work environments. There were two different places which I compared and recently I asked a friend of mine the following question: “Which one would you prefer as a work environment: a noisy office full of people, or a quiet office full of faulty smells because the office is rarely cleaned?” My friend was puzzled for a while, thought about it and said: “Hmm, you are talking about two different kinds of pollution… I will probably choose the second, since I can clean the workplace myself a bit…” 2) The interview is a two-way street. One time, during a job interview, I met a potential boss that had a hard time phrasing a question. At that particular time it was clear to me that I would not have liked to work under this person. According to my work religion, the properly asked question contains at least half of the answer. And if I work with someone who cannot ask a question… then I’d be doing double or triple work. At another interview, after the technical part with the team leader of the department, I was introduced to one of the team members and we were left alone for 5 minutes. I immediately jumped on the occasion and asked the blunt question: ‘What have you learned here for the past year and how do you like your job?’ The team member looked at me and said ‘Nothing really. I like playing with my cats at home, so I am out of here at 5pm and I don’t have time for much.’ I was disappointed at the time and I did not take the job offer. I wasn’t that shocked a few months later when the company went bankrupt. 3) The right reasons to take a job: personality check. A while back I was asked to serve as a job reference for a coworker. I agreed, and after some weeks I got a phone call from the company where my colleague was applying for a job. The conversation started with the manager’s question about my colleague’s personality and about their social skills. (You can probably guess what my internal reaction was… J ) So, after 30 minutes of pouring common sense into the interviewer’s head, we finally agreed on the fact that a shy or quiet personality has nothing to do with work skills and knowledge. Some years down the road my former colleague is taking the manager’s position as the manager is demoted to a different department. • Right-click on a Listbox in a Silverlight 4 app.

    - by AngryHacker
I am trying to implement what I used to take for granted in Winforms applications. I am a Silverlight noob, so hopefully all this is elementary. I have a listbox in a Silverlight 4 app. I'd like to do the following: Right-click on the listbox Have the item under the location where I click highlight itself I'd like a context menu to popup (with my own items in the context menu) From my research so far, it appears that there is no ContextMenu construct in Silverlight, instead we have to build up a Grid/Canvas structure and attach it to a Popup object, which is what is then popped up. My questions are as follows: To accomplish #2, I need some kind of hit test on the listbox. I can't figure out how to do that and my google-fu isn't helping. Once I do identify the index under the mouse, how do I actually select the item? Is there a reusable Context menu component somewhere that I can use? Extra credit if the component allows arbitrary sub-menus.

  • How do I get the Apple Wireless Keyboard Working in 10.10?

    - by Jamie
So I've gone and bought a Magic Mouse and Apple Wireless Non-Numeric Keyboard. The magic mouse worked out-of-the-box almost perfectly, except for the forward/back gesture which still isn't functioning, whereas the keyboard didn't. It has constant trouble with the bluetooth connection. Only the 7, 8 and 9 buttons and volume media keys correspond correctly with the output. Pressing every single key on keyboard has this output: 789/=456*123-0.+ When I use Blueman the keyboard can be setup and shows up in "Devices" but I get a warning when I click "Setup"; "Device added successfully, but failed to connect" (although removing the keyboard and setting it up as a new device doesn't incur this error). Using gnome-bluetooth I have encountered no error messages but it connects properly less often than Blueman and I can still only type the aforementioned output. What am I not doing? Where is this going wrong? EDIT: I have read this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=224673 inside out several times to no avail. It seems these commands don't work for me with the apple peripherals sudo hidd --search hcitool scan Fortunately I have the luxury of a 1TB hard drive, near limitless patience and no job. I have installed a fresh Ubuntu 10.10 64bit (albeit smaller than mine) and after updating and restarting for the first time, I set up my devices in exactly the same way as I have learnt on my original install I succeeded once again with the mouse and, to my joy, with the keyboard also. Though I could not seem to find Alt+F2 and had to reconfigure that and several other keyboard shortcuts, the keyboard is working and in a spectacular fashion. Still, this leaves me with the issue of my original install. I returned to it with some new found knowledge but failed again. Perhaps I have a missing dependancy? I did uninstall bluetooth after the initial set up and reinstalled it recently for the pupose of these peripherals. Maybe it's because I'm running 64bit? This is still not solved, but easily avoided by not changing too much from the original install. Just hide stuff or turn it off, don't uninstall too much.

  • Choosing the Right JDeveloper Release for Your EBS Environment

    - by Sara Woodhull
Oracle E-Business Suite developers use a special build of Oracle JDeveloper. This build contains the correct Oracle Application Framework (OA Framework or OAF) libraries corresponding to a specific version of Oracle E-Business Suite (specifically, to an ATG patch level). For customers and developers who are building OA Framework components and extensions to Oracle E-Business Suite, one of the first questions is "How do I find the right version of JDeveloper?"Oracle makes these OA Framework/JDeveloper builds available in separate patches when a new ATG patch level is released.   A handy My Oracle Support Document shows the ATG patch levels and the corresponding patch containing the correct version of JDeveloper with the right versions of OA Framework libraries:How to find the correct version of JDeveloper to use with eBusiness Suite 11i or Release 12.x (Doc ID 416708.1)

  • Access folder right-click from inside the folder in Windows 7

    - by BrenBarn
In Windows XP, if you had a folder open in Explorer, you could access the right-click context menu of a folder by right-clicking the folder icon in the titlebar of the Explorer window. In Win7 this no longer works. Right-clicking the background of the open folder, or right-clicking the folder icon in the info pane at the bottom, does not give the same context menu; there are items that are not in these menus, but are in the menu when I right-click on a folder from outside it. Given that I have a folder open in Explorer, how can I, without navigating out of the folder, access the same right-click context menu that I would get if I navigated to the parent folder and right-clicked my target folder?

  • Fix Google Reader Lag by Blocking Google Plus Button

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
Chrome: Many Google Reader fans have noticed, since the upgrades last month, that the service is unbearably slow. Speed things up by blocking the Google Plus button. Ever since the upgrade from the old Google Reader interface to the new integrated-with-Google-Plus interface, many Google Reader users were reporting a painfully long lag between reading entries in Reader. Previously hitting a keyboard shortcut or arrow button to move you through the new stories was instant with no noticeable lag. After the upgrade a lag of 3-5 seconds per individual story became common (we experienced this annoying lag around the How-To Geek office immediately after the upgrade). One of the theories was that the addition of the Google Plus button to every article was causing memory issues. Geeks Are Sexy tested the theory by blocking this address: plusone.google.com/u/0/_/+1/fastbutton using AdBlock. While people were reporting great success with that move (and you may find it works great too) we didn’t have any luck. What did work for us was installing Chromeblock and, while visiting reader.google.com, clicking on the ChromeBlock toolbar button and blocking Google +1. After that the 3-5 second lag vanished and browsing articles was as snappy as it had been. Hit up the link below to grab a copy of Chromeblock. • Control mouse with keyboard in Ubuntu

    - by WishCow
I'm looking for a program that I can use to control the mouse from the keyboard. I think a video can explain it much better that I could, so please check out Mouser from lifehacker.com: http://lifehacker.com/212816/hack-attack-operate-your-mouse-with-your-keyboard Unfortunately, it's only for Windows, but something this would be the perfect solution. I found a lot of help on mapping keys to programs, but nothing about mapping keys to mouse control.
