  • Flex / ZendAMF / PHP app, corrupted data with some linux clients problem

    Hello, i'm buiding a survey web application, using Flex for the front-end (nice forms), and a MySQL database for the storage, linked by PHP with the help of ZendAMF. I largely borrowed from this nice tutorial by Alan Gruskoff : http://digitalshowcase.biz/wordpress/?page_id=26 (The only one tutorial i've found to work with the last version of Flex). The app seems to works nicely in my tests, except on certain linux boxes : the data is somehow corrupted : there is no error message, no glitch, but the response of the forms are not what the user selected. I tried to reproduce the error on a fresh installed ubuntu VM, but it works fine. I've asked friends for some tests, and several linux users showed the same problem, on ubuntu and suse machines, all freshly updated and functionnal. The application was targeted to be the survey tool for my doctoral thesis, so i'm quite desperate here, and before i'm dumping it to start anew with php only, i'm asking here in case someone can help, thanks :-) Please excuse my english, by the way.     Hi, I want to share files between my iPhone and Mac. I saw a tutorial - we can do it through 2 ways such as 1) WebDAV server or 2) Bonjour. I know WebDAV needs a web server, but how can I do it through Bonjour ? Any tutorial ? Can I use Bonjour protocol only, without any FTP server to transfer files between iPhone and Mac ? Example app is in App store Files Lite, it uses both WebDAV and Bonjour. In that Bonjour uses HTTP.

  • Where to find Android Development Homework Problems

    Ok so I am starting off with android development and I have found a bunch of useful tutorials so I am set there. What I am looking for is a resource that provides homework style problems to do and has the answers downloadable so I can check my solution against the "official" solution. So for example instead of the notepad tutorial it would be: "Build an application that you can create, edit, delete notes, ...etc.". Ideally the "official" solution would have some explanation as to why they built it the way they did. (so a tutorial at the tail end) Anyone know of any resources that provide their tutorials in this format? Thanks.

  • How come my South migrations doesn't work for Django?

    First, I create my database. create database mydb; I add "south" to installed Apps. Then, I go to this tutorial: http://south.aeracode.org/docs/tutorial/part1.html The tutorial tells me to do this: $ py manage.py schemamigration wall --initial >>> Created 0001_initial.py. You can now apply this migration with: ./manage.py migrate wall Great, now I migrate. $ py manage.py migrate wall But it gives me this error... django.db.utils.DatabaseError: (1146, "Table 'fable.south_migrationhistory' doesn't exist") So I use Google (which never works. hence my 870 questions asked on Stackoverflow), and I get this page: http://groups.google.com/group/south-users/browse_thread/thread/d4c83f821dd2ca1c Alright, so I follow that instructions >> Drop database mydb; >> Create database mydb; $ rm -rf ./wall/migrations $ py manage.py syncdb But when I run syncdb, Django creates a bunch of tables. Yes, it creates the south_migrationhistory table, but it also creates my app's tables. Synced: > django.contrib.admin > django.contrib.auth > django.contrib.contenttypes > django.contrib.sessions > django.contrib.sites > django.contrib.messages > south > fable.notification > pagination > timezones > fable.wall > mediasync > staticfiles > debug_toolbar Not synced (use migrations): - (use ./manage.py migrate to migrate these) Cool....now it tells me to migrate these. So, I do this: $ py manage.py migrate wall The app 'wall' does not appear to use migrations. Alright, so fine. I'll add wall to initial migrations. $ py manage.py schemamigration wall --initial Then I migrate: $ py manage.py migrate wall You know what? It gives me this BS: _mysql_exceptions.OperationalError: (1050, "Table 'wall_content' already exists") Sorry, this is really pissing me off. Can someone help ? thanks. How do I get South to work and sync correctly with everything?

    Hello, I've followed the tutorial from here: Twitter Client Tutorial to make a little twitter app. Now I need to find out how to parse the XML twitter gives you when you make a request. I've looked at tons of tutorials on phrasing xml on the iPhone but none have made much sense because Im still new to cocoa. Twitter stores the text of the tweet in something like this <text> Some tweet here </text>. From reading the tutorials I think this would involve nsxmlparser but I'm not sure. If anyone could share some code that could parse the <text> Some tweet here </text> things into an array that would be really great. Thanks in advance

  • updating batches of data

    I am using GridView in asp .net and editing data with edit command field property (as we know after updating the edited row, we automatically update the database), and I want to use transactions (with begin to commit statement - including rollback) to commit this update query in database, after clicking in some button (after some events for example), not automatically to insert or update the edited data from grid directly to the DB...so I want to save them somewhere temporary (even many edited rows - not just one row) and then to confirm the transaction - to update the real tables in database... Any suggestions are welcomed...     I have a need to wrap an existing C++ library for use in Python. After reading through this answer on choosing an appropriate method to wrap C++ for use in Python, I decided to go with Py++. I walked through the tutorial for Py++, using the tutorial files, and I got the expected output in generated.cpp, but I haven't figured out what to do in order to actually use the generated code as an extension I can import in Python. I'm sure I have to compile the code, now, but with what? Am I supposed to use bjam?

  • Django 1.2 crash course needed

    I know Python but I've never used Django. What do I need to know about Django 1.2 to port my typical PHP CRUD web application in one weekend? (Yes I've read Joel Spolsky's Netscape article :-)) I'm reading this tutorial right now and it's excellent. I'm already playing around with inspectdb to generate my models from the existing schema. I'm planning to use the following features of Django this weekend: Fragment caching Static asset versioning (for far future expires) Schema migrations (or whatever they're called in Django) Auto-admin (and customize it later) The test framework ...other stuff I probably don't know about yet I'm familiar with all these concepts in other languages/frameworks, except for the ORM which I've never used. I know SQL pretty well though. Any links, sage bits of advice, gotchas, stuff not mentioned in the (excellent) tutorial/docs, or stuff that is mentioned but warrants repeating == very welcome.     This is a very simple task in every language I have ever used, but I can't seem to figure it out in PowerShell. An example of what I'm talking about in C: abs(x + y) The expression x + y is evaluated, and the result passed to abs as the parameter... how do I do that in PowerShell? The only way I have figured out so far is to create a temporary variable to store the result of the expression, and pass that. PowerShell seems to have very strange grammar and parsing rules that are constantly catching me by surprise, just like this situation. Does anyone know of documentation or a tutorial that explains the basic underlying theory of the language? I can't believe these are all special cases, there must be some rhyme or reason that no tutorial I have yet read explains. And yes, I've read this question, and all of those tutorials are awful. I've pretty much been relegated to learning from existing code.

  • How to add "make install" target to simple Eclipse C project

    I have a simple Eclipse C project. Is there a way to add a "make install" target to the generated makefile? I can't seem to find the right search keywords to find any useful information in the doc or by googling (i.e. there is too much noise and no signal.) I tried creating a simple project using the autotools plug-in but without being able to find any useful doc or tutorial that starts from scratch with a single C source file, I couldn't even get the project to build. Edit: I'll take an answer based on using the autotools plug-in if I can get my project to build. I don't see how to add an include dir (-I) a link dir (-L) or additional link libs to a new Hello World autotools C project. Is there any simple autotools plug-in tutorial that covers this?

    I have just installed a network simulator program called ns-2 and I am trying to familiarize myself with it by going through the tutorial by Marc Greis. When I get to the stage where I'm messing around with C++ source files and related program C++ source files as stated in http://www.isi.edu/nsnam/ns/tutorial/index.html, I don't know what to do as there are enough inconsistencies between the version of ns-2 that I downloaded (which is the latest stable build) and the guide. What would your recommendations in this case, as I don't know what to do with it as a newbie? Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Having trouble with post-commit hook

    I am following this tutorial that is like the hello world for post-commit I am using unbuntu 10.04. I installed svnnotify and ran $ which svnnotify which output: /usr/bin/svnnotify so I changed the path in the turorial from /usr/local/bin/svnnotify to /usr/bin/svnnotify I also tried changing the line: #!/bin/sh to #!/bin/bash since bash is the login shell in ubuntu 10.04. I tried to run it the way the tutorial originally had it, with my changes, and combinations of the two. Everytime the commit is successful but I get Warning: post-commit hook failed (exit code 1) with no output. The original way had output not found I am very new to linux and shell scripting and have exhausted everything I can think of. What am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to get started with java development, and develop 2d games, but I can't get the project to run.     I've been hearing about WCF for a couple of years now, and I still don't get it. I understand that it's supposed to be a replacement for web services, remoting, MSMQ, and a few other things. The trouble is, every tutorial I find assumes that I've done one of those things, and it tends to follow the line of "Here are the differences; you know the rest." But I don't know the rest! So: Do you know of any tutorial articles, books, etc. that assume that the reader knows C# or VB .NET, but nothing about web services, MSMQ, remoting, and all those other technologies that WCF replaces?

Maybe you have written such a tutorial, example of open source libraries, and your final product is great for a beginner to understand it. I'm in the learning stage of OOP and I really need to learn by examples. I'll like to find some text which explains the use of some open source software/libraries and the good practices. Beign honestly I feel scared to use the open source libraries as I wish/think at this moment. I feel like as I still write procedural code and not OOP.   • XML Schema Header & Namespace Config

    Migrating from DTD to XSD and for some reason the transition is a bumpy one. I understand how to define the schema once I'm inside the <xs:schema> root tag, but getting past the header & namespace declaration stuff is proving to be especially confusing for me. I have been trying to follow the well-laid out tutorial on W3S but even that tutorial seems to assume a lot of knowledge up front. I guess what I'm looking for is a King's English explanation of which attributes do what, where they go, and why: xmlns xmlns:xs xmlns:xsi targetNamespace xsi:schemaLocation And in some cases I see different variations of these elements/attributes, such as xsi which seems to have two different notations like xsi:schemaLocation="..." and xs:import schemaLocation="...". I guess between all these slight variations I can't seem to make heads or tails of what each of these does. Thanks in advance for bringing any clarity to this confusion!
