• Ajax Rich Internet Application framework for Linux + Firefox _AND_ iPhone consumption

  For a zero-budget (e.g. University) project we need to build a rich web UI for Firefox and iPhone clients. Firm requirement: all technologies to be free and open-source. Nice-to-have: all development to be done in Java/Eclipse. I generally like the Google's AppEngine + GWT combo but this project will require much more interactivity than what's in GWT 2.0. Something along the lines of: http://www.smartclient.com/smartgwt/showcase/. I know trusty plain ol' GWT won't cut it this time. Straight question: is there something that does the sort of thing that SmartGWT does and works really well on Safari/iPhone? I would say the mobile experience is even more important for this project than the desktop one. Optional question: perhaps this is not the best route to go at all? How could we otherwise render a rich UI with such capabilities and interactivity on both screen sizes? Windows, drag-and-drop, advanced tabs, dynamic grids... We don't need to support any other mobile devices. Yet. ;-)

• How can I speed up Subversion checkins? (Using ANKH, latest, Visual Studio 2010)

  I've started working on a new web project with some friends... we are using the latest Subversion server (installed last week), the latest version of ANKH. My web project is a whapping 1.5 megabytes (that's with all images, css files, dll's after compiling, pdb files... etc). Checking in even super small changes (literally adding the letter "x" to a few files for testing)... takes FOREVER! (about 10 seconds - I almost killed myself). The ANKH client is measuring in BYTES PER SECOND ... BYTES? per second... I must be doing something wrong. Does anyone what config file has a joke totallyMessWithPeople=true so that I can turn that off or something? Oh, also, changing one "big" file of a super 10k gains speed up to nearly the speed of light (which is apparently 857 bytes per second). Help me obi wan kenobi, your my only hope! EDIT: As a note... my real work project that uses Visual Source Safe 2005 (I know, ouch) uploads files at about 200-500kbps from this very same computer/internet connection.

• Get a "sqlceqp35.dll" error when debugging but not when running deployed code.

  In our current windows mobile project a problem while debugging recently arised. When trying to debug the code it throws an exception on the open command on a connection to the local database. The message is "A SQL Server Compact DLL could not be loaded. Reinstall SQL Server Compact Edition. [ DLL Name = sqlceqp35.dll ]". Sometime it's an unknow error instead, with reference to the same file. If you execute the binary, thats deployd during the debug, on the device it runs without any problem. I've tried: Reinstall both .net and sqlce on the device. Changed the "specific version" on the reference properties in the project. The hardware I'm using is a Motorola MC70 with Windows mobile 5.0. The target platform of the project is windows mobile 5.0. Any ideas on what might cause this problem? EDIT: When I tried it on a MC75 I can debug it. The MC70 got OS Version: 05.01.0478 and the MC75 05.01.0478. My best guess now is that it's someway related to the OS version or the actual device.

• Uninterruptible Windows Process

  Hi Guys, We're starting a new custom project right now from a client and one of the requirements is the process cannot be terminated unless the system is shutting down, restarting, or logging-off. This application monitors the USB interface. We will be using WMI to query the device periodically. The client want's to run the application on Windows XP Operating System and doesn't like installing .NET. So we targeted Visual Basic 6 as our language. My main concern is this application cannot be terminated. Our Project Adviser talks about Anti-virus and yes, some of the anti virus cannot be terminated. I was thinking how to do the same in Visual Basic 6. I know there will be API involved on the project but where should I go? so API is ok with me. I saw some articles that converts the EXE to a SERVICE, create Windows Service in Visual Basic 6, etc. So please .. share your thoughts.

There was nothing in /var/log/messages or /var/log/libvirt/* all I have it the Terminal output: /etc/init.d/libvirtd start Starting libvirtd daemon: libvirtd: initialization failed [FAILED] I changed the libvirtd logging level to 1, the highest, but saw nothing in messages after another failure.

• Why are my Flex resource bundles not being loaded?

  I have an Actionscript module in the flex source folder filterModules, which is one of two additional source folders in my project (the main source folder is reports, but I'm not dealing with anything in there right now). Here's the MXML content that references the resources. ... This array is assigned to the dataProvider field of a ComboBox. It's not bound using the bindings, presumably for reasons that made sense to the original developer, and it'd be nontrivial to change the class to make that happen. I additionally have a resource property file in a folder resources/en_US and I have the source folder resources/{locale} in the project source settings. My additional compiler options are -locale en_US. The resource property file is resources/en_US/labels.properties (All paths are relative to the flash builder project root) and contains (amongst other things) these keys: metric.q3 = Overall Satisfaction metric.q5 = Personnel metric.q9a = Issue Resolution metric.q42 = Visit Duration Sat metric.q34 = Visit Duration I have written some FlexUnit tests that run in my local Flash Player that exercise these resources -- they check that every label is represented in the metrics array, for example, so I know that the resource file is loaded when run locally. However, when I copy the module .swf file over to my server, the combo box to which the array is assigned is empty. I copy the .swf like so, if it matters: rsync -rlDv --inplace -T /tmp ~/projects/flex_reports/bin-debug/rankingFilter.swf HOSTNAME:WEBROOT/flashPath/ Why is this? I am not able to debug the remote module because our surrounding site sets up a lot of context and makes some database calls to determine which module to load. I'm hoping to get some pointers on why resource bundles might not show up. I'd understand it if the array was present with wrong labels, but the array is instead completely empty, which is pretty odd.

• Correct use of Classloader (especially in Android)

  I read some documentations about classloaders, but im still not sure where and why they are needed. The Android API says: Loads classes and resources from a repository. One or more class loaders are installed at runtime. These are consulted whenever the runtime system needs a specific class that is not yet available in-memory. So if i understand this correct, there can be many classlaoders which are responsible for loading new classes. But how the system decides which to use? And in which situation should a developer instantiate a new classloader? In the Android API for Intent there is a method public void setExtrasClassLoader (ClassLoader loader) The description says: Sets the ClassLoader that will be used when unmarshalling any Parcelable values from the extras of this Intent. So can i define there a special classloader so that i can pass object with an Intent which are not defined in the receiving activity? An example: If activity A which is located in Project A (in Eclipse) defines an object which i want to send to Activity B in Project B using putExtra of the Intent object. If this object which is send over the Intent is not defined (source code in project B), then there is a NoClassDefFoundException. So can i use the method setExtraClassloader to avoid this exception? If yes, how can i decide which classloader object i have to pass? And how do I instantiate it correctly?

  How do I make the manifest available during a Maven/Surefire unittest run "mvn test" ? I have an open-source project that I am converting from Ant to Maven, including its unit tests. Here's the project source repository with the Maven project: http://github.com/znerd/logdoc My question pertains to the primary module, called "base". This module has a unit test that tests the behaviour of the static method getVersion() in the class org.znerd.logdoc.Library. This method returns: Library.class.getPackage().getImplementationVersion() The getImplementationVersion() method returns a value of a setting in the manifest file. So far, so good. I have tested this in the past and it works well, as long as the manifest is indeed available on the classpath at the path META-INF/MANIFEST.MF (either on the file system or inside a JAR file). Now my challenge is that the manifest file is not available when I run the unit tests: mvn test Surefire runs the unit tests, but my unit test fails with a mesage indicating that Library.getVersion() returned null. When I want to check the JAR, I find that it has not even been generated. Maven/Surefire runs the unit tests against the classes, before the resources are added to the classpath. So can I either run the unit tests against the JAR (implicitly requiring the JAR to be generated first) or can I make sure the resources (including the manifest file) are generated/copied under target/classes before the unit tests are run? Note that I use Maven 2.2.0, Java 1.6.0_17 on Mac OS X 10.6.2, with JUnit 4.8.1.

• NOT A DUPLICATE! VS2010 - How to automatically stop compile on first compile error

  {rant}First I'd like to say that this IS NOT A DUPLICATE. I've asked this question previously but it got closed as a duplicate when it isn't. This question is SPECIFIC to VS 2010 and the answers to the so-called duplicate work in VS 2008 but not in VS 2010 (at least not for me or anyone I know). So before you go closing something as a duplicate how about you read the question carefully and try the answer for yourself and see if it actually works. Apologies for the rant but there is no obvious way to contact the SO police that closed the issue or get it reopened. {/rant} At work we have a C# solution with over 80 projects. In VS 2008 we use a macro to stop the compile as soon as a project in the solution fails to build (see this question for several options for VS 2005 & VS 2008: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/134796/how-to-automatically-stop-visual-c-build-at-first-compile-error). Is it possible to do the same in VS 2010? What we have found is that in VS 2010 the macros don't work (at least I couldn't get them to work) as it appears that the environment events don't fire in VS 2010. The default behaviour is to continue as far as possible and display a list of errors in the error window. I'm happy for it to stop either as soon as an error is encountered (file-level) or as soon as a project fails to build (project-level). Answers for VS 2010 only please. If the macros do work then a detailed explanation of how to configure them for VS 2010 would be appreciated. Thanks.

  Hi, We have a OID which is maintaining data about various users. This OID is being accessed by many weblogic servers. Weblogic servers are getting authenticated using this LDAP, but when a particular server authentication fails it causes authentication process failure for all servers, so we want to track that specific server which is causing this error. Is there any facility to know which servers are using the OID or i would like to know that does OID maintains any LOGs of its usage for security purpose.. Thanks.

When I run my main project, the plist with my HTML code shows up, but does not scroll. • Problem in accessing Windows shared folder on Ubuntu using terminal

  Hi Guys, Description I have 2 systems with me, one running on Windows(Host) and one on Ubuntu, both on a LAN. On the Windows(Host) I develop software intended for the Linux system and because the Linux system has little external memory, my idea to overcome this is by making the project folder on the Host side a Shared Folder with full access and access it on Ubuntu over the network. To achieve this, I have installed Samba on Ubuntu, when I go to Places -> Network I can see the shared project folder and I simply mount it. A link appears on the desktop. Next, using Nautilus I open the link and I can access the contents of the shared folder. Problem Even though I mount the shared project folder, I don't see it appearing in the /media or the /mnt folder, as a result of this I don't know what path to use to access this folder, from the terminal. For example: When, I mounted my USB stick, as expected, a link for the device appears on the Desktop and I also see a folder in the media folder. So, similarly, a mounted shared folder should have appeared on the /mnt folder, too. Can anyone suggest what I should do now? There are many posts around, but no solid solution for this problem.   I've two ASAs 5515 connected in failover Active/Stand by (on Gi0/5) My two ASAs are connected to two Switch ProCurve 2920 to have HA if something happens. So I plug something like that (don't pay attention to the arrows) : So one the ASA, I created a Port-Channel like that : interface GigabitEthernet0/0 nameif outside security-level 0 ip address 192.168.1.3 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.1.4 ! interface GigabitEthernet0/1 speed 1000 duplex full channel-group 1 mode passive no nameif no security-level no ip address ! interface GigabitEthernet0/2 speed 1000 duplex full channel-group 1 mode passive no nameif no security-level no ip address ! interface Port-channel1.1 vlan 1 nameif inside security-level 100 ip address 192.168.8.1 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.8.2 ! interface Port-channel1.10 vlan 10 nameif guest security-level 50 ip address 172.16.100.2 255.255.255.224 standby 172.16.100.3 ! interface Port-channel1.16 vlan 16 nameif dmz security-level 50 ip address 192.168.16.1 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.16.2 On the switch, I created a trunk LACP capable with the port 1 and 2 on each switch, force the speed to 1000 and put the port un full duplex mode. BUT this is not working... I tried many things and I can't make it work. In this configuration, I can't ping anything between my ASA and my Switch (or any object connected). • PDCurses TUI with C++ Win32 console application

  I have downloaded pdcurses source and was able to successfully include curses.h in my project, linked the pre-compiled library and all good. After few hours of trying out the library, I saw the tuidemo.c in the demos folder, compiled it into an executable and brilliant! exactly what I needed for my project. Now the problem is that it's a C code, and I am working on a C++ project in VS c++ 2008. The files I need are tui.c and tui.h How can I include that C file in my C++ code? I saw few suggestions here but the compiler was not too happy with 100's of warnings and errors. How can I go on including/using that TUI pdcurses includes!? • Windows 2003 registry corrupt - endless reboot

  Windows 2003 will run the loading screen then it stop with "Stop c000218 registry file failure or corrupt. The registry can not load the hive \systemroot\system32\config\security" then it start a count down about dumping the physical memory to disk and reboot itself again. I found Error starting Windows SBS 2003 - STOP: c0000218 but the config is different directory than mine. Is it the same step to try for recovery console?

• Adding an ADO.NET Entity Data Model throws build errors

  I am using Visual Studio 2013 express. I create a new project and then I add a database to that project. But, when I add an ADO.NET Entity Framework model to that project and then run the program, I get the following four build errors listed below. To try to remedy this myself, I added the namespaces 'System.Data.Entity' and 'System.Data.Entity.Design', but that didn't help. Also, I uninstalled and re-installed the Nuget package. I also uninstalled and re-installed Visual Studio 2013 Express for Windows Desktop. But these measures didn't help the situation either. Please note that I used to use the Entity Data model just fine. But it was around the time that I did a system restore on my computer, and when I updated VS 2013 with an update offered on the start page, and finally, when I signed up for MS Azure, that I started running into the problem described above. Now I would think that uninstalling and reinstalling Visual Studio 2013, and then installing the 'Nuget' Package would solve all problems. What am I missing here? The errors mentioned above are: Error 1 The type or namespace name 'Infrastructure' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Data.Entity' (are you missing an assembly reference?) • Exim4 won't send message

  My exim4 don't send any message. The logs says 2011-03-09 15:59:57 1PxKrl-00038i-BT malware acl condition: clamd: ClamAV returned /var/spool/exim4/scan/1PxKrl-00038i-BT: lstat() failed: Permission denied. ERROR I supose that clamav (running clamd) does'nt have access rights on the mentioned file, but clamav is in the same group as Debian-exim (running exim4). Even changing the folder permissions to a+rwx has no effect. Any idea where to look for failure reason ?

• Django does not load internal .css files

  I have created a Django project in local which runs without any kind of problem. But, after an annoying and difficult Cherokee + uWSGI installation on Amazon AWS, my project does not show Django .css internal files. http://f.cl.ly/items/2Q2W3I3R0X1n2X3v0q2P/django_error.jpg <-- /Admin/ looks like The image is a screen of my /admin/, which should have a different style, but .css files are not loaded. I don't understand why it is looking for the .css files in that path. Cherokee should be searching the files in Django original directory so i didn't change .css files in my project. Any advice? • Team Build Reports as "Failed" Even Though All Targets Succeeded

  Hi, I've written a custom MSBuild script to be used with Team Build, as I am storing PHP in TFS and of course it isn't compiled. My custom script calls the CoreGet target to get the latest version of the files, and the copies them, ZIPs, them, and FTPs the ZIP archive to a testing server. All of that is working fine. The problem I am having is that despite the build succeeding - see the output in BuildLog.txt - Done executing task "BuildStep". Done building target "FTP" in project "TFSBuild.proj". Done executing task "CallTarget". Done building target "EndToEndIteration" in project "TFSBuild.proj". Done Building Project "C:\Documents and Settings\tfsservice\Local Settings\Temp\Code\PHP\BuildType\TFSBuild.proj" (EndToEndIteration target(s)). Build succeeded. 0 Warning(s) 0 Error(s) the build still reports as having failed. The log from Visual Studio looks like so: Anyone know how I can make it report as having succeeded? Does anybody know how to do ? :)
