    We have ISA 2006 and Exchange 2007 and would like to get the Exchange ActiveSync to sync with non-windows base phones eg.Sony Ericsson... We got it to sync with Windows base phone ie. smart phone or PDA... but not able to get it to syc with Sony Ericsson phone which is not a windows base phone. Does anyone come across this issue before and how to solve it?

  • iTunes Home Sharing only works one way between 2 WinXP PC's on the same LAN

    Both PC's have the latest iTunes installed. PC (A) can "see" that there is a shared library "B library" but attempts to connect to it return this error message: The shared library "{Username}'s Library" is not responding (-3259) Check that any firewall software running on either the shared computer or this computer has been set to allow communication on port 3689. however the reverse works fine. e.g. PC (B) can "see" shared library "A library" and can access all content. Notes: Both PC's have Home Sharing enabled (turned off/on several times to verify). Both PC's have Windows Firewall turned on, but in the exceptions tab, iTunes is allowed, and Port 3689 is also added as a firewall exception (just in case) Both iTunes accounts have been "authorized" on both PC's Both PC's connect via LAN via D-Link DIR-615 router. In the advanced application rules, iTunes has also been added to allow traffic on port 3689 un-hindered. Is there any other magical setting/configuration option that I should be aware of and set in order to get this to work? I could care less about sharing apps etc. I just want the music sharing to work. Update: Solved! It turns out on PC (B) there were multiple accounts set up. 1 of the accounts had the checkbox checked under the windows firewall "On" option which states "No exceptions" thus even though it was added to the exception list on the main user account, this other account was blocking access.

Any ideas?...

    I'm trying to get the graph-models to work (from django-command extensions) on Snow Leopard. It requires pygraphviz, which I installed via macports.   • How to install DBD::mysql on OS X Server 10.6?

    Trying to install DBD::mysql on OS X Server 10.6 (mac mini server). But I'm missing the mysql headers apparently. Since mysql is already part of OS X Server 10.6, I would like to NOT install anything else (no fink or darwin ports installs), just whatever's needed to get DBD::mysql installed and working. Do you know how I could do that? Do I have to install the headers somewhere? And if so, where? (again: I don't want to install another version of mysql on the box, want to use the version it came with). Is there a way to install DBD::mysql without compiling any C files?   • Puppet - Possible to use software design patterns in modules?

    As I work with puppet, I find myself wanting to automate more complex setups, for example vhosts for X number of websites. As my puppet manifests get more complex I find it difficult to apply the DRY (don't repeat yourself) principle. Below is a simplified snippet of what I am after, but doesn't work because puppet throws various errors depending up whether I use classes or defines. Any suggestions how I can implement the DRY principle and still get puppet to work? -- UPDATE -- I'm still having a problem trying to ensure that some of my vhosts, which may share a parent directory, are setup correctly. I looked into using exec, but not sure this is the correct route, surely others have had to deal with this before and any insight is appreciated as I have been grappling with this for a few weeks.     I'm migrating from libpam-ldap to libpam-ldapd. I'm having some trouble gathering the secondary groups from LDAP. On libpam-ldap, I had this on the /etc/ldap.conf file: nss_schema rfc2307bis nss_base_passwd ou=People,ou=CITIUS,dc=inv,dc=usc,dc=es nss_base_shadow ou=People,ou=CITIUS,dc=inv,dc=usc,dc=es nss_base_group ou=Groups,ou=CITIUS,dc=inv,dc=usc,dc=es nss_map_attribute uniqueMember member The mapping is there because I'm using groupOfNames instead of groupOfUniqueNames LDAP class for groups, so the attribute naming the members is named member instead of uniqueMember.   • VMware and Windows Activation

    Yesterday I installed Slysoft's Virtual CloneDrive in order to mount an iso for some software installation on my host system (XP Pro SP3) This morning I fired up VMware and made a linked clone of an existing XP vm in order to do some software testing. This is the sort of thing that I do all the time, and the base XP vm that I clone was activated a long long time ago. The surprise today was that the newly cloned vm was no longer activated and XP cited major changes in hardware as the reason. I repeated the test with a full clone of the base system and got the same message. I then started up my base vm and it seemed to be activated, yet another vm (which I fully cloned from the base vm a long time ago) now started reporting that XP was not activated. At this point I guessed that Virtual DriveClone might have been the source of my hardware differences so I uninstalled it and rebooted. After this I made a new linked clone and full clone of the base vm and XP did not complain about not being activated. So I seem to be back to where I was before installing Virtual DriveClone with the exception that that one particular XP vm continues to complain about activation (even though 4 or 5 other XP vm's are fat and happy) Now to my questions: Why would adding Virtual CloneDrive to the host system affect XP activation on the vm's? From their point of view I would have thought that the environment had not changed as I had not enabled any new hard drives in their systems. Or is adding a hard drive to the host system enough to upset XP activation? Since this event, one of my fully cloned vm's is still reporting that XP is not activated even though I have removed Virtual CloneDrive. Is there anyway to convince XP that it is on the same system as yesterday? Or are my only options to do an activation or restore the vm from a previous backup?

  • SVN check out to samba directory

    I'm trying to svn co to a directory on Ubuntu, shared via samba, to OS X, but I get the following error (in OS X). svn: In directory 'site/product/tests' svn: Can't open file 'site/product/tests/.svn/tmp/text-base/._base.py.svn-base': No such file or directory My smb.conf file includes the following changes: unix extensions = no browseable = yes public = yes writable = yes delete readonly = yes create mask = 0775 directory mask = 0775 valid users = %S read only = no The checkout works fine locally (on the Ubuntu machine). What am I missing? More detail: Later inspection showed that the svn error couldn't find the file with 3, then 2 underscores: .___init__.py.svn-base Whereas listing the directory in OS X showed 2, then 2 underscores: __init__.py.svn-base And listing the same directory in a successful checkout on Ubuntu shows nothing (because it's a temporary directory?) I've tried the mangled = no setting in share settings, to no effect.

    Trying to setup Eclispe. I am running ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick). Apache2.2.16 Subversion 1.6.12 The Eclipse help/about/installed software says: Eclipse Platform 3.5.2 Subclipse 1.0.0 Version Control with Subversion 1.1.1 The Subclips wiki I followed is here I have installed the libsvn-java app as discussed. I added the line "-Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni" to the eclipse.ini file I checked the Eclipse help/about/confirguration settings and both of these lines are listed: eclipse.vmargs=-Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni java.library.path=/usr/lib/jni I checked that those files are in those directories. Still, when I check the preferencesteamsvn an error dialog shows: Failed to load JavaHL Library. These are the errors that were encountered: no libsvnjavahl.1 in java.library.path Incompatible JavaHL library loaded 1.3.x or later required I followed the "Testing JavaHL libraries" troubleshooting section at the bottom of the wiki: I downloaded the tarbal and ran it in a folder on my desktop with no problems. Then, I followed the instructions and placed that file INSIDE the path (usr/lib/jni/testJavaHL) and ran it from there.   • In Enterprise Architect I modified an interface, how to update the realizing classes?

    I've created an interface in a class model. This interface has two methods, A and B and method A takes an argument (a) and method B does not take an argument (yet). Additionally I've created a class that implements this interface, overriding both methods. After a discussing the model method B now should also take a parameter (b), so I modified the interface to reflect this change. However the class realizing this interface is not updated automatically. For one class it's possible to add the method by re-creating the link between the interface, specify the which method should be implemented and deleting this link again. Then the OLD method signature has to be removed as well. This is a lot of work if there is more then one class implementing the modified interface, not to mention error-prone. Does anybody know how to make an entire class model update this type of dependency?

The User::Create and Firewall lines are just realizing a user and 2 firewall rules. I have verified that the /var/lib/puppet/lib/puppet/type/a2mod.rb type has the identifier parameter and it is the same MD5 as the server. I am using Puppet 3.0.1 on both agent and master. Any idea what may cause this?

    Trying to setup Eclispe. I am running ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick). Apache2.2.16 Subversion 1.6.12 The Eclipse help/about/installed software says: Eclipse Platform 3.5.2 Subclipse 1.0.0 Version Control with Subversion 1.1.1 The Subclips wiki I followed is here I have installed the libsvn-java app as discussed. I added the line "-Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni" to the eclipse.ini file I checked the Eclipse help/about/confirguration settings and both of these lines are listed: eclipse.vmargs=-Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni java.library.path=/usr/lib/jni I checked that those files are in those directories. Still, when I check the preferencesteamsvn an error dialog shows: Failed to load JavaHL Library. These are the errors that were encountered: no libsvnjavahl.1 in java.library.path Incompatible JavaHL library loaded 1.3.x or later required I followed the "Testing JavaHL libraries" troubleshooting section at the bottom of the wiki: I downloaded the tarbal and ran it in a folder on my desktop with no problems. Then, I followed the instructions and placed that file INSIDE the path (usr/lib/jni/testJavaHL) and ran it from there.   • iTunes Home Sharing only works one way between 2 Windows XP PC's on the same LAN

    Both PC's have the latest iTunes installed. PC (A) can "see" that there is a shared library "B library" but attempts to connect to it return this error message: The shared library "{Username}'s Library" is not responding (-3259) Check that any firewall software running on either the shared computer or this computer has been set to allow communication on port 3689. however the reverse works fine. e.g. PC (B) can "see" shared library "A library" and can access all content. Notes: Both PC's have Home Sharing enabled (turned off/on several times to verify). Both PC's have Windows Firewall turned on, but in the exceptions tab, iTunes is allowed, and Port 3689 is also added as a firewall exception (just in case) Both iTunes accounts have been "authorized" on both PC's Both PC's connect via LAN via D-Link DIR-615 router. In the advanced application rules, iTunes has also been added to allow traffic on port 3689 un-hindered. Is there any other magical setting/configuration option that I should be aware of and set in order to get this to work? I could care less about sharing apps etc. I just want the music sharing to work. Update: Solved! It turns out on PC (B) there were multiple accounts set up. 1 of the accounts had the checkbox checked under the Windows firewall "On" option which states "No exceptions" thus even though it was added to the exception list on the main user account, this other account was blocking access.

    Despite it's small size, this is the most difficult network design problem I've faced. There are three nodes in this network: PC running Windows XP with an internal WiFi adapter.Base station with both WiFi and a Wireless Modem (WiModem)Mobile device with both WiFi and WiModem The modem is a low-bandwidth but high-reliability connection. We'd like to use WiFi for high-bandwidth stuff like file transfers when the mobile is nearby, and the modem for control information. Here's the tricky part: we'd like the wifi traffic to go directly from the mobile to the PC, as rebroadcasting packets on the same WiFi channel takes up double the bandwidth. We can do that with a manual configuration by giving the both the PC and the base station two IP addresses for their WiFi interfaces: one on a subnet shared with the mobile, and one on their own subnet. The routes on the PC are set up so that any traffic going to the mobile via WiModem goes through the secondary IP address so that return traffic from the mobile also goes through the WiModem. Here's what that looks like: PC WiFi 1: 192.168.2.10/24 WiFi 2: 192.168.3.10/24 Default route: 192.168.2.1 Base Station WiFi 1: 192.168.2.1/24 WiFi 2: 192.168.3.1/24 WiModem: 192.168.4.1/24 Mobile WiFi: 192.168.3.20/24 WiModem: 192.168.4.20/24 We'd like to move to having the base station automatically configure the mobile and PC, as the manual setup is problematic when you start having multiple mobiles and PCs. This means that the PC can only have 1 IP address and needs to be treated as being pretty simple. Is it possible to have a setup driven by DHCP on the base station that is efficient with bandwidth?

  • Problem Implementing StructureMap in VB.Net Conversion of SharpArchitecture

    I work in a VB.Net environment and have recently been tasked with creating an MVC enviroment to use as a base to work from. I decided to convert the latest SharpArchitecture release (Q3 2009) into VB, which on the whole has gone fine after a bit of hair pulling. I came across a problem with Castle Windsor where my custom repository interface (lives in the core/domain project) that was reference in the constructor of my test controller was not getting injected with the concrete implementation (from the data project). I hit a brick wall with this so basically decided to switch out Castle Windsor for StructureMap. I think I have implemented this ok as everything compiles and runs and my controller ran ok when referencing a custom repository interface. It appears now that I have/or cannot now setup my generic interfaces up properly (I hope this makes sense so far as I am new to all this). When I use IRepository(Of T) (wanting it to be injected with a concrete implementation of Repository(Of Type)) in the controller constructor I am getting the following runtime error: "StructureMap Exception Code: 202 No Default Instance defined for PluginFamily SharpArch.Core.PersistenceSupport.IRepository`1[[DebtRemedy.Core.Page, DebtRemedy.Core, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null]], SharpArch.Core, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b5f559ae0ac4e006" Here are my code excerpts that I am using (my project is called DebtRemedy).
