  • Validating an Autocomplete field in Django

    - by anonymous coward
    I have models similar to the following: class Band(models.Model): name = models.CharField(unique=True) class Event(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=50, unique=True) bands = models.ManyToManyField(Band) and essentially I want to use the validation capability offered by a ModelForm that already exists for Event, but I do not want to show the default Multi-Select list (for 'bands') on the page, because the potential length of the related models is extremely long. I have the following form defined: class AddEventForm(ModelForm): class Meta: model = Event fields = ('name', ) Which does what is expected for the Model, but of course, validation could care less about the 'bands' field. I've got it working enough to add bands correctly, but there's no correct validation, and it will simply drop bad band IDs. What should I do so that I can ensure that at least one (correct) band ID has been sent along with my form? For how I'm sending the band-IDs with auto-complete, see this related question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1528059/

  • Zend_Form and Liskov Substitution Principle

    - by blockhead
    A very common pattern I see (I'm picking on Zend Framework, only because I was dealing with it at the moment of this question), is something like this: class My_Form extends Zend_Form { public function init() { $this->addElement(); } } Zend_Form is not an abstract class, but is perfectly usable on its own. This seems to be "recommended" as place to "encapsulate" your forms into a nice class. Does this violate the Liskov Substitution Principle? Each subclass of Zend_Form will have a wildy different behavior than the base class. Would it be better to use composition for this, or am I totally misunderstanding this principle?

  • What is the purpose of unit testing an interface repository

    - by ahsteele
    I am unit testing an ICustomerRepository interface used for retrieving objects of type Customer. As a unit test what value am I gaining by testing the ICustomerRepository in this manner? Under what conditions would the below test fail? For tests of this nature is it advisable to do tests that I know should fail? i.e. look for id 4 when I know I've only placed 5 in the repository I am probably missing something obvious but it seems the integration tests of the class that implements ICustomerRepository will be of more value. [TestClass] public class CustomerTests : TestClassBase { private Customer SetUpCustomerForRepository() { return new Customer() { CustId = 5, DifId = "55", CustLookupName = "The Dude", LoginList = new[] { new Login { LoginCustId = 5, LoginName = "tdude" }, new Login { LoginCustId = 5, LoginName = "tdude2" } } }; } [TestMethod] public void CanGetCustomerById() { // arrange var customer = SetUpCustomerForRepository(); var repository = Stub<ICustomerRepository>(); // act repository.Stub(rep => rep.GetById(5)).Return(customer); // assert Assert.AreEqual(customer, repository.GetById(5)); } } Test Base Class public class TestClassBase { protected T Stub<T>() where T : class { return MockRepository.GenerateStub<T>(); } } ICustomerRepository and IRepository public interface ICustomerRepository : IRepository<Customer> { IList<Customer> FindCustomers(string q); Customer GetCustomerByDifID(string difId); Customer GetCustomerByLogin(string loginName); } public interface IRepository<T> { void Save(T entity); void Save(List<T> entity); bool Save(T entity, out string message); void Delete(T entity); T GetById(int id); ICollection<T> FindAll(); }

  • Makefile to compile both C and Java programs at the same time

    - by user342745
    I have three programs that need to be compiled at the same time, 2 written in C and 1 in java. I had all three working with the Makefile when they were in C, but then switched one of them to java... is there a way to compile all 3 at once with the same makefile? Here is my current Makefile: CC=gcc JC=javac JFLAGS= -g CFLAGS= -Wall -g -std=c99 LDFLAGS= -lm .SUFFIXES: .java .class .java.class: $(JC) $(JFLAGS) $*.java CLASSES = kasiski.java kentry.java ALL= ic ftable kasiski all: $(ALL) ic: ic.o kasiski: $(CLASSES:.java=.class) ftable: ftable.o ic.o: ic.c ic.h ftable.o: ftable.c ftable.h .PHONY: clean clean: rm -rf core* *.class *.o *.gch $(ALL)

  • How do I restrict foreign keys choices to related objects only in django

    - by Jeff Mc
    I have a two way foreign relation similar to the following class Parent(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=255) favoritechild = models.ForeignKey("Child", blank=True, null=True) class Child(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=255) myparent = models.ForeignKey(Parent) How do I restrict the choices for Parent.favoritechild to only children whose parent is itself? I tried class Parent(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=255) favoritechild = models.ForeignKey("Child", blank=True, null=True, limit_choices_to = {"myparent": "self"}) but that causes the admin interface to not list any children.

  • .NET security: how to check if a method is allowed to execute under current user's perrmissions

    - by Gart
    Given an ASP.NET MVC Controller class declaration: public class ItemController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { // ... } public ActionResult Details() { // ... } [Authorize(Roles="Admin, Editor")] public ActionResult Edit() { // ... } [Authorized(Roles="Admin")] public ActionResult Delete() { // .. } } I need to reflect a list of methods in this class which may be invoked with the current user's permissions. The [Authorized] attribute is specific to ASP.NET MVC, and this is only an example. I would prefer a universal solution for this problem which works for any .NET class. Please share some ideas of what could be done in this case.

  • Help with listView in Android

    - by jul
    Hi, I'm just starting with Android and can't find how to display a list in my activity. I get some restaurant data from a web service and I'd like to show the results in a list. The activity, the restaurant class and the layout main.xml are shown below. How can I display, for instance, the list of the restaurant names in the ListView 'list' of my layout? thank you Jul public class Atable extends ListActivity { RestaurantList restaurantList; public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); //Here I set restaurantList //Now how can I display, for example, the list of the names of the restaurants } main.xml <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/search" /> <EditText android:id="@+id/search" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <ListView android:id="@+id/android:list" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/android:empty" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/noresults"/> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> Restaurant list class package org.digitalfarm.atable; import java.util.List; public class RestaurantList { private List<Restaurant> restaurants; public List<Restaurant> getRestaurants() { return restaurants; } public void setRestaurants(List<Restaurant> restaurants) { this.restaurants = restaurants; } } Restaurant class package org.digitalfarm.atable; public class Restaurant { private String name; private float latitude; private float longitude; public String getName() { return name; } public void setName(String name) { this.name = name; } public float getLatitude() { return latitude; } public void setLatitude(float latitude) { this.latitude = latitude; } public float getLongitude() { return longitude; } public void setLongitude(float longitude) { this.longitude = longitude; } }

  • Accessing data entered into multiple Django forms and generating them onto a new URL

    - by pedjk
    I have a projects page where users can start up new projects. Each project has two forms. The two forms are: class ProjectForm(forms.Form): Title = forms.CharField(max_length=100, widget=_hfill) class SsdForm(forms.Form): Status = forms.ModelChoiceField(queryset=P.ProjectStatus.objects.all()) With their respective models as follows: class Project(DeleteFlagModel): Title = models.CharField(max_length=100) class Ssd(models.Model): Status = models.ForeignKey(ProjectStatus) Now when a user fills out these two forms, the data is saved into the database. What I want to do is access this data and generate it onto a new URL. So I want to get the "Title" and the "Status" from these two forms and then show them on a new page for that one project. I don't want the "Title" and "Status" from all the projects to show up, just for one project at a time. If this makes sense, how would I do this? I'm very new to Django and Python (though I've read the Django tutorials) so I need as much help as possible. Thanks in advance Edit: The ProjectStatus code is (under models): class ProjectStatus(models.Model): Name = models.CharField(max_length=30) def __unicode__(self): return self.Name

  • How to create a generic list in this wierd case in c#

    - by Marc Bettex
    Hello, In my program, I have a class A which is extended by B, C and many more classes. I have a method GetInstance() which returns a instance of B or C (or of one of the other child), but I don't know which one, so the return type of the method is A. In the method CreateGenericList(), I have a variable v of type A, which is in fact either a B, a C or another child type and I want to create a generic list of the proper type, i.e. List<B> if v is a B or List<C> if v is a C, ... Currently I do it by using reflection, which works, but this is extremely slow. I wanted to know if there is another way to to it, which doesn't use reflection. Here is an example of the code of my problem: class A { } class B : A { } class C : A { } // More childs of A. class Program { static A GetInstance() { // returns an instance of B or C } static void CreateGenericList() { A v = Program.GetInstance(); IList genericList = // Here I want an instance of List<B> or List<C> or ... depending of the real type of v, not a List<A>. } } I tried the following hack. I call the following method, hoping the type inferencer will guess the type of model, but it doesn't work and return a List<A>. I believe that because c# is statically typed, T is resolved as A and not as the real type of model at runtime. static List<T> CreateGenericListFromModel<T>(T model) where T : A { return new List<T> (); } Does anybody have a solution to that problem that doesn't use reflection or that it is impossible to solve that problem without reflection? Thank you very much, Marc

  • C++ initializing constants and inheritance

    - by pingvinus
    I want to initialize constant in child-class, instead of base class. And use it to get rid of dynamic memory allocation (I know array sizes already, and there will be a few child-classes with different constants). So I try: class A { public: const int x; A() : x(0) {} A(int x) : x(x) {} void f() { double y[this->x]; } }; class B : A { B() : A(2) {} }; Pretty simple, but compiler says: error C2057: expected constant expression How can I say to compiler, that it is really a constant?

  • SFINAE + sizeof = detect if expression compiles

    I just found out how to check if operator<< is provided for a type. template<class T> T& lvalue_of_type(); template<class T> T rvalue_of_type(); template<class T> struct is_printable { template<class U> static char test(char(*)[sizeof( lvalue_of_type<std::ostream>() << rvalue_of_type<U>() )]); template<class U> static long test(...); enum { value = 1 == sizeof test<T>(0) }; typedef boost::integral_constant<bool, value> type; }; Is this trick well-known, or have I just won the metaprogramming Nobel prize? ;) EDIT: I made the code simpler to understand and easier to adapt with two global function template declarations lvalue_of_type and rvalue_of_type.

  • jQuery each function, getting the data out of it

  • Log information inside a JUnit Suite

    - by Alex Marinescu
    I'm currently trying to write inside a log file the total number of failed tests from a JUnite Suite. My testsuite is defined as follows: @RunWith(Suite.class) @SuiteClasses({Class1.class, Class2.class etc.}) public class SimpleTestSuite {} I tried to define a rule which would increase the total number of errors when a test fails, but apparently my rule is never called. @Rule public MethodRule logWatchRule = new TestWatchman() { public void failed(Throwable e, FrameworkMethod method) { errors += 1; } public void succeeded(FrameworkMethod method) { } }; Any ideas on what I should to do to achieve this behaviour?

  • creating new instance fails PHP

    - by as3isolib
    I am relatively new to PHP and having some decent success however I am running into this issue: If I try to create a new instance of the class GenericEntryVO, I get a 500 error with little to no helpful error information. However, if I use a generic object as the result, I get no errors. I'd like to be able to cast this object as a GenericEntryVO as I am using AMFPHP to communicate serialize data with a Flex client. I've read a few different ways to create constructors in PHP but the typical 'public function Foo()' for a class Foo was recommended for PHP 5.4.4 //in my EntryService.php class public function getEntryByID($id) { $link = mysqli_connect("localhost", "root", "root", "BabyTrackingAppDB"); if (mysqli_connect_errno()) { printf("Connect failed: %s\n", mysqli_connect_error()); exit(); } $query = "SELECT * FROM Entries WHERE id = '$id' LIMIT 1"; if ($result = mysqli_query($link, $query)) { // $entry = new GenericEntryVO(); this is where the problem lies! while ($row = mysqli_fetch_row($result)) { $entry->id = $row[0]; $entry->entryType = $row[1]; $entry->title = $row[2]; $entry->description = $row[3]; $entry->value = $row[4]; $entry->created = $row[5]; $entry->updated = $row[6]; } } mysqli_free_result($result); mysqli_close($link); return $entry; } //my GenericEntryVO.php class <?php class GenericEntryVO { public function __construct() { } public $id; public $title; public $entryType; public $description; public $value; public $created; public $updated; // public $properties; } ?>

  • Java DAO caching

    - by santiagobasulto
    I'm developing a medium Java app, and i'm facing a small problem due to my lack of experience. I've a custom DAO, which gets "Article" objects from the Database. I've the Article class, and the DAO has a method called getArticle(int id), this method returns an Article. The Article has a Category object, and I'm using lazy loading. So, when I request for an article's category (Article a = new Article(); a.getCategory();) the Article class gets the Category from the DAO and then returns it. I'm now thinking to cache it, so when I request multiple times to an article's category, the database is only queried one time. My question is: where should I put that cache? I can put it on the Article class (in the DTO), or I can put it on the DAO class. What do you say?

  • TabRenderer with no visual styles enabled?

    - by DxCK
    I want to draw a custom TabControl with custom functionality. To do this, i inherited the Panel class and overrided OnPaint method to draw with TabRenderer class. The problem is that TabRenderer working only when visual styles enabled (can be checked with TabRenderer.IsSupported), but what should i do if visual styles disabled? In this case, I thought using the ControlPaint class to draw tabs without visual styles, but it has no draw method related to Tabs. I want it basically to behave visually like the regular TabControl.

  • Code is exectuting but the view is not loading when called form a function?

    - by wolverine
    I have a viewBased application with the viewController class mainView. In it I am loading various views(different nibs) depending upon certain actions that I do. I have added a popoverController with a barbutton in the mainView. Its intialized with a tableviewController class named popClass. When I select certain row in the popover, I want the view in my mainView to load someother view(as I do when i do certain actions). For that I have written a function in mainView Controller class and is calling it from the popOver class. Function and the lines of code are executing but nothing is happening. Even the log lines are printed but no action takes place. What is the problem? OR is there anyother way to make the view change in mainView by using the popover?

  • Should Python import statements always be at the top of a module?

    - by Adam J. Forster
    PEP 08 states: Imports are always put at the top of the file, just after any module comments and docstrings, and before module globals and constants. However if the class/method/function that I am importing is only used in rare cases, surely it is more efficient to do the import when it is needed? Isn't this: class SomeClass(object): def not_often_called(self) from datetime import datetime self.datetime = datetime.now() more efficient than this? from datetime import datetime class SomeClass(object): def not_often_called(self) self.datetime = datetime.now()

  • Examine one particular call and ignore the rest

    - by lulalala
    I have a Currency class and want to update its rates. The following is the spec of an update class I plan to write: describe WebCrawlers::Currency::FeedParser do let(:gbp){ double('GBP').as_null_object } let(:usd){ double('USD').as_null_object } describe '#perform' do before do Currency.stub(:find_by_name).with('GBP').and_return( gbp ) Currency.stub(:find_by_name).with('USD').and_return( usd ) end it 'should update GBP rate' do gbp.should_receive(:update_attributes).with(rate_to_usd:0.63114) subject.perform end it 'should not update USD rate' do usd.should_not_receive(:update_attributes) subject.perform end end end and it works find if I only update GBP in my actual class: class WebCrawlers::Currency::FeedParser def perform Currency.find_by_name('GBP').update_attributes(rate_to_usd: 0.63114) end end However once I start updating other currencies like 'CAD', Rspec complains <Currency> received :find_by_name with unexpected arguments expected: ("USD") got: ("CAD") Why is this the case? Instead of NOT expecting USD, it says it is. And in the future there will be lots of currencies to update, but I don't want to test and stub each one of them. How can I resolve this issue?
