  • Using database default values with Linq to SQL codewise

    I am using Dynamic Data with linq to SQL and SQL Server 2008. I have a GUID column that gets his value from the default value with newguid(). When I set IsDbGenerated to true in the designer it works like a charm. But when I renew table this property is set back to false again. So I added it to the metadata. For some reason it's not being pickup, "00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000" is being inserted in database. The displayname and readonly change are being pick up. What am I missing?   • Castle Windsor Weak Typed Factory

    In a very very limited number of scenarios, I need to go from an unknown Type (at compile time) to an instance of the object registered for that type. For the most part, I use typed factories and I know the type I want to resolve at compile time...so I inject a Func<IMyType> into a constructor ...but in these limited number of scenarios, in order to avoid a direct call to the container (and thus having to reference Windsor from the library, which is an anti-pattern I'd like to avoid), I need to inject a Func<Type,object>...which I want to internally container.Resolve(type) for the Type parameter of the Func. Does anyone have some suggestions on the easiest/most straightforward way of setting this up? I tried the following, but with this setup, I end up bypassing the regular TypedFactoryFacility altogether which is definitely not what I want: Kernel.Register(Component.For(typeof (Func<Type, object>)).LifeStyle.Singleton.UsingFactoryMethod( (kernel, componentModel, creationContext) => kernel.Resolve(/* not sure what to put here... */))); Thanks in advance for any assistance.

  • Strategy for Storing Multiple Nullable Booleans in SQL

    I have an object (happens to be C#) with about 20 properties that are nullable booleans. There will be perhaps a few million such objects persisted to a SQL database (currently SQL Server 2008 R2, but MySQL may need to be supported in the future). The instances themselves are relatively large because they contain about a paragraph of text as well as some other unrelated properties. For a given object instance, most of the properties will be null most of the time. When users search for instances of such objects, they will select perhaps 1-3 of the nullable boolean properties and search for instances where at least one of those 1-3 properties is non-null (OR search). My first thought is to persist the object to a single table with nullable BIT columns representing the nullable boolean properties. However, this strategy will require one index per BIT column to avoid performing a table scan when searching. Further, each index would not be particularly selective since there are only three possible values per index. Is there a better way to approach this problem?

  • Django template context not working with imported class

    I'm using Django's templating on appengine, and am having a problem whereby a class I'm importing from another package is not correctly being made available to the template context. Broadly speaking, this is the code. The prop1 is not available in the template in the first example below, but is in the second. MyClass is identical in both cases. This does not work: from module import MyClass context = MyClass() self.response.out.write(template.render(path, context)) This does: class MyClass(object): def __init__(self): self.prop1 = "prop1" context = MyClass() self.response.out.write(template.render(path, context)) If I log the context in the above code I get: <module.MyClass object at 0x107b1e450> when it's imported, and: <__main__.MyClass object at 0x103759390> when it's defined in the same file. Any clues as to what might cause this kind of behaviour?

For example, for the following variable list3d = [[[40.0, 1.2, 6.0, 0.3], [50.0, 4.2, 0, 0]], [[40.0, 1.2, 6.0, 0.3], [50.0, 4.2, 0, 0]], [[40.0, 1.2, 6.0, 0.3], [50.0, 4.2, 0, 0]]] I have tried the following with no luck: ([[ctypes.c_double * 4] *2]*3)(*list3d) # *** TypeError: 'list' object is not callable (ctypes.c_double * 4 *2 *3)(*list3d) # *** TypeError: expected c_double_Array_4_Array_2 instance, got list Thank you! EDIT: Just to clarify, I am trying to get one object that contains the whole multidimensional array, not a list of objects. This object's reference will be an input to a C DLL that expects a 3D array.

  • waitin closes browsers for all projects that are building.

    I'm having an issue running WatiN under CruiseControl.net, where on a .forceclose, watin is closing all open browser instances. I have multiple projects running under cruisecontrol, and its not uncommon for some of those projects to be building and testing at the same time. There has been more than one occasion where watin will close the browser window for a different project, causing it to fail. In my local tests, creating my watin instance under a new process fixes this issue. But running under cruisecontrol, when doing this, I lose my IE object: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Running CC.net as a service CC.Net server is Windows 2003 IE6 Any thoughts?

    I program a class in which I have a method which takes an callback object from an external software. At the moment Eclipse says that it does not know the type of the object I gave as argument (it is expectable since I do not specify this type, it's done by the external software). So, I think I need to write an interface for the object which I give as an argument to my method. In this respect I have two questions. Is it really so? Can I solve the mentioned problem in the mentioned way. If it is the case, where should I put this interface? In the same file where my class is? In the class? Outside of the class?

If not, what part of the code is creating the issue? I've set return types/values for eventData class methods Is there a workaround for the Gson Unit issue? Thanks!

  • Spring FactoryBean and scopes working together

    I'd like to use FactoryBeans and scopes together. Specifically, I'd like the object created and returned by a FactoryBean to be placed into a specified (perhaps custom) scope. The issue is that doing the following: <bean class="x.y.z.TestFactoryBean" scope="test" /> Results in the FactoryBean itself being scoped, and has somewhat unpredictable behaviour on the object created by the factory. I understand why this is; the factory itself is a first-class spring-managed bean, and has its own lifecycle. However, I can't find a way to specify that the object returned from the factory should itself be scoped. On the other hand, this does exactly what I want (as long as TestFactoryBean does NOT implement the FactoryBean interface): <bean class="x.y.z.TestFactoryBean" name="testFactory"> <bean class="x.y.z.TestBean" factory-bean="testFactory" factory-method="getObject" scope="test" /> So the real question is, how can I make Spring behave like it does for the 2nd example above, but using real FactoryBeans?

  • Summing of total with dynamics rows coming external datasource

    I am using Excel 2010 and retrieving data from SQL analysis service. When I refresh the data from Excel, the rows all refresh as they are bound to an external datasource. I am adding a separate column with a formula to sum the totals. With an increment or decrement of these rows, the alignment of custom columns goes out. How can I resolve this problem that summing of values become dynamic with adding and removal of rows?

    Say I have 2 subclasses from UIViewController, class A and class B. In Main nib file an object is representing class A and it is set to load file from Secondary nib file. The owner of Secondary nib is of class B. The question is - from which class an object in Main nib file will be instanciated once the nib files unarchived in the memory? The reason this question arised is that I have to take care myself if such reference to external NIB file present, to ensure that the first nib's object and second nib's owner is same.     I have some objects, that keep created DOMObjects, like here: function category(){ var domBlock; this.block = function(){ if (!domBlock){ // Here dom-object constructor $('<div></div>'); etc } return domBlock; // jquery object, // but i test and native document.createElement } } Then i clear category's area, and append old and new received(with Ajax) objects: area.html(''); for(id in category_list){ area.append( category_list[id].block() ); } where category_list is list that contain category objects. Area is jQuery object. In other browsers (except IE) i get area with all needed categories, but in IE i get only new received categories(that just create DomObject), other old objects that keeped old DomObject not show. I know it possible make with innerHTML, but i wont keep DomObject, not text. Because DomObject keep many events. And it very hard for browser attach events for each DomObject after refresh area.

    As you may or may not be aware as of jQuery 1.7 the whole event system was rewritten from the ground up. The codebase is much faster and with the new .on() method there is a lot of uniformity to wiring up event handlers. One used to be able to access the internal events data and investiate what events are registered on any given element, but recently this internal information has been hidden based on the following scenario... It seems that the "private" data is ALWAYS stored on the .data(jQuery.expando) - For "objects" where the deletion of the object should also delete its caches this makes some sense. In the realm of nodes however, I think we should store these "private" members in a separate (private) cache so that they don't pollute the object returned by $.fn.data()" Although I agree with the above change to hide the internal data, I have found having access to this information can be helpful for debugging and unit testing. What was the new way of getting the internal jquery event object in jQuery 1.7?

  • Why are there two implementations of std::sort (with and without a comparator) rather than one implementation with a default template parameter?

    In my code I'm adopting a design strategy which is similar to some standard library algorithms in that the exact behavior can be customized by a function object. The simplest example is std::sort, where a function object can control how the comparison is made between objects. I notice that the Visual C++ provides two implementations of std::sort, which naturally involves code duplication. I would have imagined that it was instead possible to have only one implementation, and provide a default comparator (using operator< ) as a default template parameter. What is the rational behind two separate versions? Would my suggestion make the interface more complex in some way? Or result in confusing error messages when the object does not provide operator Thanks, David

I use Google collections' MapMaker, like this: Map<Class<? extends Object>, Set<Foo>> map = new MapMaker().weakKeys().weakValues().makeMap(); So, for Set<Foo>, can I use a normal HashSet? Or, do I have to create a weak HashSet, like this: Collections.newSetFromMap(new WeakHashMap<Foo, Boolean>()); And why?
