  • Javascript instanceof & typeof in GWT (JSNI)

    - by rybz
    Hi, I've encountered an curious problem while trying to use some objects through JSNI in GWT. Let's say we have javscript file with the function defined: test.js: function test(arg){ var type = typeof(arg); if (arg instanceof Array) alert('Array'); if (arg instanceof Object) alert('Object'); if (arg instanceof String) alert('String'); } And the we want to call this function user JSNI: public static native void testx()/ *-{ $wnd.test( new Array(1, 2, 3) ); $wnd.test( [ 1, 2, 3 ] ); $wnd.test( {val:1} ); $wnd.test( "Some text" ); }-*/; The questions are: why instanceof instructions will always return false? why typeof will always return "object" ? how to pass these objects so that they were recognized properly?

  • How do I get query string value from script path?

    - by TruMan1
    I am adding my Javsacript file in pages with different query strings in the script path like this: Page1: <script type="text/javascript" src="file.js?abc=123"></script> Page2: <script type="text/javascript" src="file.js?abc=456"></script> Page3: <script type="text/javascript" src="file.js?abc=789"></script> In my Javascript file, how can I get the value of the "abc" param? I tried using window.location for this, but that does not work. In case it helps, below is a function I use to find the value of a query string param: function getQuerystring(key, defaultValue) { if (defaultValue == null) defaultValue = ""; key = key.replace(/[\[]/, "\\\[").replace(/[\]]/, "\\\]"); var regex = new RegExp("[\\?&]" + key + "=([^&#]*)"); var qs = regex.exec(window.location.href); if (qs == null) return defaultValue; else return qs[1]; }

  • Using a map with set_intersection

    - by Robin Welch
    Not used set_intersection before, but I believe it will work with maps. I wrote the following example code but it doesn't give me what I'd expect: #include <map> #include <string> #include <iostream> #include <algorithm> using namespace std; struct Money { double amount; string currency; bool operator< ( const Money& rhs ) const { if ( amount != rhs.amount ) return ( amount < rhs.amount ); return ( currency < rhs.currency ); } }; int main( int argc, char* argv[] ) { Money mn[] = { { 2.32, "USD" }, { 2.76, "USD" }, { 4.30, "GBP" }, { 1.21, "GBP" }, { 1.37, "GBP" }, { 6.74, "GBP" }, { 2.55, "EUR" } }; typedef pair< int, Money > MoneyPair; typedef map< int, Money > MoneyMap; MoneyMap map1; map1.insert( MoneyPair( 1, mn[1] ) ); map1.insert( MoneyPair( 2, mn[2] ) ); map1.insert( MoneyPair( 3, mn[3] ) ); // (3) map1.insert( MoneyPair( 4, mn[4] ) ); // (4) MoneyMap map2; map1.insert( MoneyPair( 3, mn[3] ) ); // (3) map1.insert( MoneyPair( 4, mn[4] ) ); // (4) map1.insert( MoneyPair( 5, mn[5] ) ); map1.insert( MoneyPair( 6, mn[6] ) ); map1.insert( MoneyPair( 7, mn[7] ) ); MoneyMap out; MoneyMap::iterator out_itr( out.begin() ); set_intersection( map1.begin(), map1.end(), map2.begin(), map2.end(), inserter( out, out_itr ) ); cout << "intersection has " << out.size() << " elements." << endl; return 0; } Since the pair labelled (3) and (4) appear in both maps, I was expecting that I'd get 2 elements in the intersection, but no, I get: intersection has 0 elements. I'm sure this is something to do with the comparitor on the map / pair but can't figure it out.

  • deleting element objects of a std vector using erase : a) memory handling and b) better way?

    - by memC
    hi, I have a vec_A that stores instances of class A as: vec_A.push_back(A()); I want to remove some elements in the vector at a later stage and have two questions: a) The element is deleted as: vec_A.erase(iterator) Is there any additional code I need to add to make sure that there is no memory leak? . b) Assume that condition if(num <5) is if num is among a specific numberList. Given this, is there a better way to delete the elements of a vector than what I am illustrating below? #include<vector> #include<stdio.h> #include<iostream> class A { public: int getNumber(); A(int val); ~A(){}; private: int num; }; A::A(int val){ num = val; }; int A::getNumber(){ return num; }; int main(){ int i =0; int num; std::vector<A> vec_A; std::vector<A>::iterator iter; for ( i = 0; i < 10; i++){ vec_A.push_back(A(i)); } iter = vec_A.begin(); while(iter != vec_A.end()){ std::cout << "\n --------------------------"; std::cout << "\n Size before erase =" << vec_A.size(); num = iter->getNumber() ; std::cout << "\n num = "<<num; if (num < 5){ vec_A.erase(iter); } else{ iter++; } std::cout << "\n size after erase =" << vec_A.size(); } std::cout << "\nPress RETURN to continue..."; std::cin.get(); return 0; }

  • Are returned locals automatically xvalues

    - by mark
    Following on from a comment I made on this: passing std::vector to constructor and move semantics Is the std::move necessary in the following code, to ensure that the returned value is a xvalue? std::vector<string> buildVector() { std::vector<string> local; // .... build a vector return std::move(local); } It is my understanding that this is required. I have often seen this used when returning a std::unique_ptr from a function, however GManNickG made the following comment: It is my understanding that in a return statement all local variables are automatically xvalues (expiring values) and will be moved, but I'm unsure if that only applies to the returned object itself. So OP should go ahead and put that in there until I'm more confident it shouldn't have to be. :) Can anyone clarify if the std::move is necessary? Is the behaviour compiler dependent?

  • vim plugin to show current Perl subroutine

    - by Andrew
    I'm trying to make a vim plugin that will split the window on load and simulate a info bar at the top of my terminal. I've got it sorta working but I think I've either reached limits of my knowledge of vim syntax or there's a logic problem in my code. The desired effect would be to do a reverse search for any declaration of a Perl subroutine form my current location in the active buffer and display the line in the top buffer. I'm also trying to make it skip that buffer when I switch buffers with <C-R>. My attempt at that so far can be seen in the mess of nested if statements. Anyway, here's the code. I would greatly appreciate feedback from anyone. (pastebin pastebin.com/8cuMPn1Q) let s:current_function_bufname = 'Current\ Function\/Subroutine' function! s:get_current_function_name(no_echo) let lnum = line(".") let col = col(".") if a:no_echo let s:current_function_name = getline(search("^[^s]sub .$", 'bW')) else echohl ModeMsg echo getline(search("^[^s]sub .$", 'bW')) "echo getline(search("^[^ \t#/]\{2}.[^:]\s$", 'bW')) echohl None endif endfunction let s:previous_winbufnr = 1 let s:current_function_name = '' let s:current_function_buffer_created = 0 let s:current_function_bufnr = 2 function! s:show_current_function() let total_buffers = winnr('$') let current_winbufnr = winnr() if s:previous_winbufnr != current_winbufnr if bufname(current_winbufnr) == s:current_function_bufname if s:previous_winbufnr < current_winbufnr let i = current_winbufnr + 1 if i total_buffers let i = 1 endif if i == s:current_function_bufnr let i = i + 1 endif if i total buffers let i = 1 endif exec i.'wincmd w' else let i = current_winbufnr - 1 if i < 1 let i = total_buffers endif if i == s:current_function_bufnr let i = i - 1 endif if i < 1 let i = total_buffers endif try exec i.'wincmd w' finally exec total_buffers.'wincmd w' endtry endif endif let s:previous_winbufnr = current_winbufnr return 1 endif if s:current_function_buffer_created == 0 exec 'top 1 split '.s:current_function_bufname call s:set_as_scratch_buffer() let s:current_function_buffer_created = 1 let s:current_function_bufnr = winnr() endif call s:activate_buffer_by_name(s:current_function_bufname) setlocal modifiable call s:get_current_function_name(1) call setline(1, s:current_function_name) setlocal nomodifiable call s:activate_buffer_by_name(bufname(current_winbufnr)) endfunction function! s:set_as_scratch_buffer() setlocal noswapfile setlocal nomodifiable setlocal bufhidden=delete setlocal buftype=nofile setlocal nobuflisted setlocal nonumber setlocal nowrap setlocal cursorline endfunction function! s:activate_buffer_by_name(name) for i in range(1, winnr('$')) let name = bufname(winbufnr(i)) let full_name = fnamemodify(bufname(winbufnr(i)), ':p') if name == a:name || full_name == a:name exec i.'wincmd w' return 1 endif endfor return 0 endfunction set laststatus=2 autocmd! • Javascript scope problem with object and setTimeout

    - by Shabbyrobe
    I'm trying to make a jQuery plugin that executes a method on a timer. I'd like it to work on multiple elements on a page independently. I've reached a point where the timer executes for each element, but the method called in the setTimeout seems to only know about the last instance of the plugin. I know I'm doing something fundamentally stupid here, but I'm danged if I know what. I know stuff like this has been asked 8 million times on here before, but I've not managed to find an answer that relates to my specific problem. Here's a script that demonstrates the structure of what I'm doing. <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="assets/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var crap = 0; (function($) { jQuery.fn.pants = function(options) { var trousers = { id: null, current: 0, waitTimeMs: 1000, begin: function() { var d = new Date(); this.id = crap++; console.log(this.id); // do a bunch of stuff window.setTimeout(function(self) {return function() {self.next();}}(this), this.waitTimeMs); }, next: function() { this.current ++; console.log(this.id); window.setTimeout(function(self) {return function() {self.next();}}(this), this.waitTimeMs); }, }; options = options || {}; $.extend(trousers, options); this.each(function(index, element) { trousers.begin(); }); return this; }; } )(jQuery); jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery("div.wahey").pants(); }); </script> </head> <body> <div class="wahey"></div> <div class="wahey"></div> </body> </html> The output I get is this: 0 1 1 1 1 1 The output I expect to get is this: 0 1 0 1 0 1

  • help Implementing Object Oriented ansi-C approach??

    - by No Money
    Hey there, I am an Intermediate programmer in Java and know some of the basics in C++. I recently started to scam over "C language" [please note that i emphasized on C language and want to stick with C as i found it to be a perfect tool, so no need for suggestions focusing on why should i move back to C++ or Java]. Moving on, I code an Object Oriented approach in C but kindda scramble with the pointers part. Please understand that I am just a noob trying to extend my knowledge beyond what i learned in High School. Here is my code..... #include <stdio.h> typedef struct per{ int privateint; char *privateString; struct per (*New) (); void (*deleteperOBJ) (struct t_person *); void (*setperNumber) ((struct*) t_person,int); void (*setperString) ((struct*) t_person,char *); void (*dumpperState) ((struct*) t_person); }t_person; void setperNumber(t_person *const per,int num){ if(per==NULL) return; per->privateint=num; } void setperString(t_person *const per,char *string){ if(per==NULL) return; per->privateString=string; } void dumpperState(t_person *const per){ if(per==NULL) return; printf("value of private int==%d\n", per->privateint); printf("value of private string==%s\n", per->privateString); } void deleteperOBJ(struct t_person *const per){ free((void*)t_person->per); t_person ->per = NULL; } main(){ t_person *const per = (struct*) malloc(sizeof(t_person)); per = t_person -> struct per -> New(); per -> setperNumber (t_person *per, 123); per -> setperString(t_person *per, "No money"); dumpperState(t_person *per); deleteperOBJ(t_person *per); } Just to warn you, this program has several errors and since I am a beginner I couldn't help except to post this thread as a question. I am looking forward for assistance. Thanks in advance.

  • Memory Leak with Swing Drag and Drop

    - by tom
    I have a JFrame that accepts top-level drops of files. However after a drop has occurred, references to the frame are held indefinitely inside some Swing internal classes. I believe that disposing of the frame should release all of its resources, so what am I doing wrong? Example import java.awt.datatransfer.DataFlavor; import java.io.File; import java.util.List; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JLabel; import javax.swing.TransferHandler; public class DnDLeakTester extends JFrame { public static void main(String[] args) { new DnDLeakTester(); //Prevent main from returning or the jvm will exit while (true) { try { Thread.sleep(10000); } catch (InterruptedException e) { } } } public DnDLeakTester() { super("I'm leaky"); add(new JLabel("Drop stuff here")); setTransferHandler(new TransferHandler() { @Override public boolean canImport(final TransferSupport support) { return (support.isDrop() && support .isDataFlavorSupported(DataFlavor.javaFileListFlavor)); } @Override public boolean importData(final TransferSupport support) { if (!canImport(support)) { return false; } try { final List<File> files = (List<File>) support.getTransferable().getTransferData(DataFlavor.javaFileListFlavor); for (final File f : files) { System.out.println(f.getName()); } } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return true; } }); setDefaultCloseOperation(DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE); pack(); setVisible(true); } } To reproduce, run the code and drop some files on the frame. Close the frame so it's disposed of. To verify the leak I take a heap dump using JConsole and analyse it with the Eclipse Memory Analysis tool. It shows that sun.awt.AppContext is holding a reference to the frame through its hashmap. It looks like TransferSupport is at fault. What am I doing wrong? Should I be asking the DnD support code to clean itself up somehow? I'm running JDK 1.6 update 19.

  • Using MonadPlus in FRP.Reactive.FieldTrip

    - by ony
    I'm studying FRP at this moment through FieldTrip adaptor. And hit the problem with strange way of frames scheduling and integration. So now I'm trying to build own marker Event for aligning Behaviour stepping. So... flipflop :: Behavior String flipflop = stepper "none" (xflip 2) where xflip t0 = do t <- withTimeE_ (atTime t0) return "flip" `mplus` xflop (t+3) xflop t0 = do t <- withTimeE_ (atTime t0) return "flop" `mplus` xflip (t+2) txtGeom = ((uscale2 (0.5::Float) *%) . utext . show <$>) main = anim2 (txtGeom . pure flipflop) Questions is: Why this example leads to memory leak? Is there safe way to build sequence of events where each next one is scheduled depending on previous?

  • Is block style really this important?

    - by Jack Roscoe
    I just watched a video of Douglas Crockford's presentation about his 2009 book JavaScript: The Good Parts. In the video, he explains that the following block is dangerous because it produces silent errors: return { ok: false }; And that it should actually be written like this (emphasising that although seemingly identical the behavioural difference is crucial): return { ok: false }; You can see his comments around 32 minutes into the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQVTIJBZook&feature=player_embedded#!&start=1920 I have not heard this before, and was wondering if this rule still applies or if this requirement in syntax has been overcome by JavaScript developments since this statement was made. I found this very interesting as I have NOT been writing my code this way, and wanted to check that this information was not out of date.

  • Updating UISearchDisplayController with Core Data results using GCD

    - by Brian Halpin
    I'm having trouble displaying the results from Core Data in my UISearchDisplayController when I implement GCD. Without it, it works, but obviously blocks the UI. In my SearchTableViewController I have the following two methods: - (BOOL)searchDisplayController:(UISearchDisplayController *)controller shouldReloadTableForSearchString:(NSString *)searchString { // Tell the table data source to reload when text changes [self filterContentForSearchText:searchString]; // Return YES to cause the search result table view to be reloaded. return YES; } // Update the filtered array based on the search text -(void)filterContentForSearchText:(NSString*)searchText { // Remove all objects from the filtered search array [self.filteredLocationsArray removeAllObjects]; NSPredicate *predicate = [CoreDataMaster predicateForLocationUsingSearchText:@"Limerick"]; CoreDataMaster *coreDataMaster = [[CoreDataMaster alloc] init]; // Filter the array using NSPredicate self.filteredLocationsArray = [NSMutableArray arrayWithArray: [coreDataMaster fetchResultsFromCoreDataEntity:@"City" UsingPredicate:predicate]]; } You can probably guess that my problem is with returning the array from [coreDataMaster fetchResultsFromCoreDataEntity]. Below is the method: - (NSArray *)fetchResultsFromCoreDataEntity:(NSString *)entity UsingPredicate:(NSPredicate *)predicate { NSMutableArray *fetchedResults = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; dispatch_queue_t coreDataQueue = dispatch_queue_create("com.coredata.queue", DISPATCH_QUEUE_SERIAL); dispatch_async(coreDataQueue, ^{ NSFetchRequest *fetchRequest = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entityDescription = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:entity inManagedObjectContext:self.managedObjectContext]; NSSortDescriptor *nameSort = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"name" ascending:YES]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:nameSort, nil]; [fetchRequest setEntity:entityDescription]; [fetchRequest setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; // Check if predicate is set if (predicate) { [fetchRequest setPredicate:predicate]; } NSError *error = nil; NSArray *fetchedManagedObjects = [self.managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:fetchRequest error:&error]; for (City *city in fetchedManagedObjects) { [fetchedResults addObject:city]; } NSDictionary *userInfo = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:[NSArray arrayWithArray:fetchedResults] forKey:@"results"]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] postNotificationName:@"fetchResultsComplete" object:nil userInfo:userInfo]; }); return [NSArray arrayWithArray:fetchedResults]; } So the thread hasn't finished executing by the time it returns the results to self.filteredLocationsArray. I've tried added a NSNotification which passes the NSDictionary to this method: - (void)updateSearchResults:(NSNotification *)notification { NSDictionary *userInfo = notification.userInfo; NSArray *array = [userInfo objectForKey:@"results"]; self.filteredLocationsArray = [NSMutableArray arrayWithArray:array]; [self.tableView reloadData]; } I've also tried refreshing the searchViewController like [self.searchDisplayController.searchResultsTableView reloadData]; but to no avail. I'd really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction and show me where I might be going wrong. Thanks

  • SQL: without a cursor, how to select records making a unique integer id (identity like) for dups?

    - by Dr. Zim
    If you have the select statement below where the PK is the primary key: select distinct dbo.DateAsInt( dateEntered) * 100 as PK, recordDescription as Data from MyTable and the output is something like this (the first numbers are spaced for clarity): PK Data 2010 01 01 00 New Years Day 2010 01 01 00 Make Resolutions 2010 01 01 00 Return Gifts 2010 02 14 00 Valentines day 2010 02 14 00 Buy flowers and you want to output something like this: PK Data 2010 01 01 01 New Years Day 2010 01 01 02 Make Resolutions 2010 01 01 03 Return Gifts 2010 02 14 01 Valentines day 2010 02 14 02 Buy flowers Is it possible to make the "00" in the PK have an "identity" number effect within a single select? Otherwise, how could you increment the number by 1 for each found activity for that date? I am already thinking as I type to try something like Sum(case when ?? then 1 end) with a group by.

  • How to use error provider at run time along with associating any control to validate

    - by Shantanu Gupta
    I am trying to create a Validation in a reusable fashion. Purpose: Make the validation control reusable. Error Provider should associate with control passed dynamically and can be set or cleared at run time. When user press OnClick event then all the controls gets validated with their own Error Providers. public bool IsFieldEmpty(ref TextBox txtControl, Boolean SetErrorProvider,string msgToShowOnError) { ErrorProvider EP = new ErrorProvider(); if (txtControl.Text == string.Empty) { if(SetErrorProvider==true) EP.SetError(txtControl, msgToShowOnError); return true; } else { if(SetErrorProvider==true) EP.Clear(); return false; } } Issue: Every time the function is called new errorprovider object gets created which i dont want. Every control should not have more than 1 error provider and i should be able to search it just like as done in asp.net to search for some control on a Page. How can I do this

  • Jquery Delay Function Calls

    - by fizgig07
    I'm trying to find a way to delay all code that takes place after I make a service call. The reason for this delay is that my service returns code necesarry for the following functions and the result I pass is to these following functions is undefined. I have tried attaching the setTimeout() to the function that is called directly after the service call, but then it just skips the function I set the timeout on and jumps to the next function...My web method that I am calling is not that big and is not doing anything that is too intensive public bool GetSpreadsheetStatusForAdmin(string cacId) { SpreadSheetStatus result = new SpreadSheetStatus(); List<Data.Spreadsheet> spreadsheets = SpreadsheetManager.GetUserSpreadsheets(GetCurrent.Identity); if (spreadsheets.Count != 0) { foreach (Data.Spreadsheet spreadsheet in spreadsheets) { if (spreadsheet.Status == SpreadsheetStatus.Pending) { return true; } } } return false; } I had found the delay() and thought that might work, but I don't have jquery 1.4 and can't use it as of yet. is there anything that can help..?

  • require_owner code to limit controller actions not recognizing current user as owner

    - by bgadoci
    I am trying to restrict access to certain actions using a before_filter which seems easy enough. Somehow the ApplicationController is not recognizing that the current_user is the owner of the user edit action. When I take the filter off the controller correctly routes the current_user to their edit view information. Here is the code. Link to call edit action from user controller (views/questions/index.html.erb): <%= link_to "Edit Profile", edit_user_path(:current) %> ApplicationController (I am only posting the code that I think is affecting this but can post the whole thing if needed). class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base def require_owner obj = instance_variable_get("@#{controller_name.singularize.camelize.underscore}") # LineItem becomes @line_item return true if current_user_is_owner?(obj) render_error_message("You must be the #{controller_name.singularize.camelize} owner to access this page", root_url) return false end end and the before_filter class UsersController < ApplicationController before_filter :require_owner, :only => [:edit, :update, :destroy] #... end I simply get the rendering of the error message from the ApplicationController#require_owner action.

  • Two radically different queries against 4 mil records execute in the same time - one uses brute force.

    - by IanC
    I'm using SQL Server 2008. I have a table with over 3 million records, which is related to another table with a million records. I have spent a few days experimenting with different ways of querying these tables. I have it down to two radically different queries, both of which take 6s to execute on my laptop. The first query uses a brute force method of evaluating possibly likely matches, and removes incorrect matches via aggregate summation calculations. The second gets all possibly likely matches, then removes incorrect matches via an EXCEPT query that uses two dedicated indexes to find the low and high mismatches. Logically, one would expect the brute force to be slow and the indexes one to be fast. Not so. And I have experimented heavily with indexes until I got the best speed. Further, the brute force query doesn't require as many indexes, which means that technically it would yield better overall system performance. Below are the two execution plans. If you can't see them, please let me know and I'll re-post then in landscape orientation / mail them to you. Brute-force query: Index-based exception query: My question is, based on the execution plans, which one look more efficient? I realize that thing may change as my data grows.

  • Why is Varnish not caching?

    I am troubleshooting the setup of Varnish 3.x on my Ubuntu server. I'm running Drupal 7 on two sites set up on the box, via named-based vhosts. Before trying to get Varnish to play nice with Drupal I'm trying to just get Varnish to a PNG from cache. Here are the headers I get from a curl -I request of the PNG file: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: Apache/2.2.22 (Ubuntu) Last-Modified: Sun, 07 Oct 2012 21:18:59 GMT ETag: "a57c2-3850-4cb7ea73db6c0" Accept-Ranges: bytes Content-Length: 14416 Cache-Control: max-age=1209600 Expires: Thu, 25 Oct 2012 22:55:14 GMT Content-Type: image/png Accept-Ranges: bytes Date: Thu, 11 Oct 2012 22:55:14 GMT X-Varnish: 1766703058 Age: 0 Via: 1.1 varnish Connection: keep-alive X-Varnish-Cache: MISS Here is the Varnish VCL file I'm using (It's a default VCL configuration designed for Drupal): # Default backend definition. Set this to point to your content # server. # backend default { .host = "127.0.0.1"; .port = "8080"; } # Respond to incoming requests. sub vcl_recv { # Use anonymous, cached pages if all backends are down. if (!req.backend.healthy) { unset req.http.Cookie; } # Allow the backend to serve up stale content if it is responding slowly. set req.grace = 6h; # Pipe these paths directly to Apache for streaming. #if (req.url ~ "^/admin/content/backup_migrate/export") { # return (pipe); #} # Do not cache these paths. if (req.url ~ "^/status\.php$" || req.url ~ "^/update\.php$" || req.url ~ "^/admin$" || req.url ~ "^/admin/.*$" || req.url ~ "^/flag/.*$" || req.url ~ "^.*/ajax/.*$" || req.url ~ "^.*/ahah/.*$") { return (pass); } # Do not allow outside access to cron.php or install.php. #if (req.url ~ "^/(cron|install)\.php$" && !client.ip ~ internal) { # Have Varnish throw the error directly. # error 404 "Page not found."; # Use a custom error page that you've defined in Drupal at the path "404". # set req.url = "/404"; #} # Always cache the following file types for all users. This list of extensions # appears twice, once here and again in vcl_fetch so make sure you edit both # and keep them equal. if (req.url ~ "(?i)\.(pdf|asc|dat|txt|doc|xls|ppt|tgz|csv|png|gif|jpeg|jpg|ico|swf|css|js)(\?.*)?$") { unset req.http.Cookie; } # Remove all cookies that Drupal doesn't need to know about. We explicitly # list the ones that Drupal does need, the SESS and NO_CACHE. If, after # running this code we find that either of these two cookies remains, we # will pass as the page cannot be cached. if (req.http.Cookie) { # 1. Append a semi-colon to the front of the cookie string. # 2. Remove all spaces that appear after semi-colons. # 3. Match the cookies we want to keep, adding the space we removed # previously back. (\1) is first matching group in the regsuball. # 4. Remove all other cookies, identifying them by the fact that they have # no space after the preceding semi-colon. # 5. Remove all spaces and semi-colons from the beginning and end of the # cookie string. set req.http.Cookie = ";" + req.http.Cookie; set req.http.Cookie = regsuball(req.http.Cookie, "; +", ";"); set req.http.Cookie = regsuball(req.http.Cookie, ";(SESS[a-z0-9]+|SSESS[a-z0-9]+|NO_CACHE)=", "; \1="); set req.http.Cookie = regsuball(req.http.Cookie, ";[^ ][^;]*", ""); set req.http.Cookie = regsuball(req.http.Cookie, "^[; ]+|[; ]+$", ""); if (req.http.Cookie == "") { # If there are no remaining cookies, remove the cookie header. Pass it on to Apache directly. return (pass); } } } # Set a header to track a cache HIT/MISS. sub vcl_deliver { if (obj.hits > 0) { set resp.http.X-Varnish-Cache = "HIT"; } else { set resp.http.X-Varnish-Cache = "MISS"; } } # Code determining what to do when serving items from the Apache servers. # beresp == Back-end response from the web server. sub vcl_fetch { # We need this to cache 404s, 301s, 500s. Otherwise, depending on backend but # definitely in Drupal's case these responses are not cacheable by default. if (beresp.status == 404 || beresp.status == 301 || beresp.status == 500) { set beresp.ttl = 10m; } # Don't allow static files to set cookies. # (?i) denotes case insensitive in PCRE (perl compatible regular expressions). # This list of extensions appears twice, once here and again in vcl_recv so # make sure you edit both and keep them equal. if (req.url ~ "(?i)\.(pdf|asc|dat|txt|doc|xls|ppt|tgz|csv|png|gif|jpeg|jpg|ico|swf|css|js)(\?.*)?$") { unset beresp.http.set-cookie; } # Allow items to be stale if needed. set beresp.grace = 6h; } # In the event of an error, show friendlier messages. sub vcl_error { # Redirect to some other URL in the case of a homepage failure. #if (req.url ~ "^/?$") { # set obj.status = 302; # set obj.http.Location = "http://backup.example.com/"; #} # Otherwise redirect to the homepage, which will likely be in the cache. set obj.http.Content-Type = "text/html; charset=utf-8"; synthetic {" <html> <head> <title>Page Unavailable</title> <style> body { background: #303030; text-align: center; color: white; } #page { border: 1px solid #CCC; width: 500px; margin: 100px auto 0; padding: 30px; background: #323232; } a, a:link, a:visited { color: #CCC; } .error { color: #222; } </style> </head> <body onload="setTimeout(function() { window.location = '/' }, 5000)"> <div id="page"> <h1 class="title">Page Unavailable</h1> <p>The page you requested is temporarily unavailable.</p> <p>We're redirecting you to the <a href="/">homepage</a> in 5 seconds.</p> <div class="error">(Error "} + obj.status + " " + obj.response + {")</div> </div> </body> </html> "}; return (deliver); } I'm getting a MISS and age 0 every time. If I'm understanding correctly, this means the file isn't being returned from Varnish's cache. Is there a problem with my Varnish config?

  • jQuery live() and stopPropagation() issue

    - by colourandcode
    I know that the live() event handles event bubbling different than all other jQuery events. jQuery recommends using 'return false', but in my case that doesn't work. The issue is: I have a DIV which contains an anchor tag. The DIV is bound using live(). Whenever I click the anchor tag inside this DIV it bubbles and calls the DIV's event. If I bind an event to that A tag which returns false it prevents the link from opening. Neither stopPropagation() or return false work in this case. Are there any other options? Ideally I'd like to keep the live() event around.

  • An appropriate C API for inspecting attribute values

    - by uk82
    There are two obvious ways in C to provide outside access to internal attribute values (A) provide a generic interface that accepts a list of attributes that changes over time (some added / some die) or (B) a specific interface for each and every attribute. Example A: int x_get_attribute_value(ATT att) { if (a) return a_val; if (b) return b_val; } Example B: A_Enum x_get_a_type_attribute() {} B_Enum x_get_b_type_attribute() {} I recall that Eclipse's API is very much like A (I could be wrong). What I can't do is come up with a compelling argument against either. A is clean - any user will no where to go to find out a property value. It can evolve cleanly without leaving dead interfaces around. B has type checking to a degree - this is C enums! Is there a big hitter argument that pushes the balance away from opinion?

  • What if a large number of objects are passed to my SwingWorker.process() method?

    - by Trejkaz
    I just found an interesting situation. Suppose you have some SwingWorker (I've made this one vaguely reminiscent of my own): public class AddressTreeBuildingWorker extends SwingWorker<Void, NodePair> { private DefaultTreeModel model; public AddressTreeBuildingWorker(DefaultTreeModel model) { } @Override protected Void doInBackground() { // Omitted; performs variable processing to build a tree of address nodes. } @Override protected void process(List<NodePair> chunks) { for (NodePair pair : chunks) { // Actually the real thing inserts in order. model.insertNodeInto(parent, child, parent.getChildCount()); } } private static class NodePair { private final DefaultMutableTreeNode parent; private final DefaultMutableTreeNode child; private NodePair(DefaultMutableTreeNode parent, DefaultMutableTreeNode child) { this.parent = parent; this.child = child; } } } If the work done in the background is significant then things work well - process() is called with relatively small lists of objects and everything is happy. Problem is, if the work done in the background is suddenly insignificant for whatever reason, process() receives a huge list of objects (I have seen 1,000,000, for instance) and by the time you process each object, you have spent 20 seconds on the Event Dispatch Thread, exactly what SwingWorker was designed to avoid. In case it isn't clear, both of these occur on the same SwingWorker class for me - it depends on the input data, and the type of processing the caller wanted. Is there a proper way to handle this? Obviously I can intentionally delay or yield the background processing thread so that a smaller number might arrive each time, but this doesn't feel like the right solution to me.
