  • Oracle SQLPlus: How to display the output of a sqlplus command without having to first issue the spo

    Is there a way to display the output of a sqlplus command without having to first issue the spool off command? I am spooling the results of a sqlplus session to a file while at the same time tailing the file. The reason for this is that for table with very long rows the format is easier to look at from a file. The problem is to see the output i have to issue the spool off command everytime i run a command in sqlplus. Can i configure sqlplus so that after i have issued the spool command all the output is viewable straight away on the file. (Formating the way the rows are displayed on the screen is not an option. ) THanks

    Hi All, I have the following strings in my application. /admin/stylesheets/11 /admin/javascripts/11 /contactus what I want to do is to write a regular expression to capture anything other than string starting with 'admin' basically my regex should capture only /contactus by excluding both /admin/stylesheets/11 /admin/javascripts/11 to capture all i wrote /.+/ and i wrote /(admin).+/ which captures everything starts with 'admin'. how can i do the reverse. I mean get everything not starting with 'admin' thanks in advance cheers sameera

  • Oracle java 6 on ubuntu

    The java library I need (jpcap) only works on java 6, it won't work with java 7 (and I have tried :( ), is it still possible to install java 6 on ubuntu? Only according to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Java#Choosing_the_default_Java_to_use, 'Oracle (Sun) Java 6 is no longer available to be distributed by Ubuntu, because of license issues' I've tried to use the instructions on the same site but they don't seem to work... "./jre-6u34-linux-i586.bin" doesn't seem to do anything! Thanks!

    What is a good way to prevent a table with 2 columns, a and b, from having any record where column b is equal to any value in column a? This would be used for a table of corrections like this, MR -> Mr Prf. -> Prof. MRs -> Mrs I can see how it could be done with a trigger and a subquery assuming no concurrent activity but a more declarative approach would be preferable. This is an example of what should be prevented, Wing Commdr. -> Wing Cdr. Wing Cdr. -> Wing Commander Ideally the solution would work with concurrent inserts and updates.

    I have Fedora 19 as Dom0. To create image I run # xen-create-image --hostname=debian-wheezy --memory=512Mb --dhcp --size=20Gb --swap=512Mb --dir=/xen --arch=amd64 --dist=wheezy After generation finished I start vm and see: # xl create /etc/xen/debian-wheezy.cfg Parsing config from /etc/xen/debian-wheezy.cfg libxl: error: libxl_dom.c:409:libxl__build_pv: xc_dom_ramdisk_file failed: No such file or directory libxl: error: libxl_create.c:919:domcreate_rebuild_done: cannot (re-)build domain: -3 In the /etc/xen/debian-wheezy.cfg i have # # Kernel + memory size # kernel = '/boot/vmlinuz-3.11.2-201.fc19.x86_64' ramdisk = '/boot/initrd.img-3.11.2-201.fc19.x86_64' and ls -1 /boot/*201* shows /boot/config-3.11.2-201.fc19.x86_64 /boot/initramfs-3.11.2-201.fc19.x86_64.img /boot/System.map-3.11.2-201.fc19.x86_64 /boot/vmlinuz-3.11.2-201.fc19.x86_64 Then if I fix ramdisk directive in .cfg file to /boot/initramfs-3.11.2-201.fc19.x86_64.img vm will start but os inside will not boot.     Given an Oracle Merge statement with a rejection limit, is there a shorthand way to identify how many rows were rejected, without being forced to query the rejection destination? The rejection destination has records pre-merge, so would currently have to be counted twice and the difference taken, but it seems like there should be a counter exposed, given that it has to be aware of whether it has exceeded the rejection limit.

  • Oracle: Insertion on an indexed table, avoiding duplicates. Looking for tips and advice.

    Hi everyone, Im looking for the best solution (performance wise) to achieve this. I have to insert records into a table, avoiding duplicates. For example, take table A Insert into A ( Select DISTINCT [FIELDS] from B,C,D.. WHERE (JOIN CONDITIONS ON B,C,D..) AND NOT EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM A ATMP WHERE ATMP.SOMEKEY = A.SOMEKEY ) ); I have an index over A.SOMEKEY, just to optimize the NOT EXISTS query, but i realize that inserting on an indexed table will be a performance hit. So I was thinking of duplicating Table A in a Global Temporary Table, where I would keep the index. Then, removing the index from Table A and executing the query, but modified Insert into A ( Select DISTINCT [FIELDS] from B,C,D.. WHERE (JOIN CONDITIONS ON B,C,D..) AND NOT EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM GLOBAL_TEMPORARY_TABLE_A ATMP WHERE ATMP.SOMEKEY = A.SOMEKEY ) ); This would solve the "inserting on an index table", but I would have to update the Global Temporary A with each insertion I make. I'm kind of lost here, Is there a better way to achieve this? Thanks in advance,

    Hello! we are tying to port a J2EE app from OAS 9.0.4 (working perfectly) on OAS 10.1.3.5 the reson we do that is because we need the app compiled with java 1.5 and OAS 10.1.3.5 would be the single major version supporting that binaries which has oc4j/orion kernel. The issue is that the security constraints in matter of user/group/role are not read by the app server, and instead of asking for these sets of users, i have to use the oc4jadmin instead the selected users for auth. All xml files needed for describing these sets of rules are being checked with the OAS book, and it seems they are correctly filled in... anybody has an idea about this?

    I can write: update my_table set xml = updateXML(xml, '/a/b', '1') where document_id = 123 Now what if in the same update query I also want to set /a/c to 2 (in addition /a/b to 1)? I am tempted to write: update my_table set xml = updateXML(xml, '/a/b', '1'), xml = updateXML(xml, '/a/c', '2') where document_id = 123 But this give me a "ORA-00957: duplicate column name". Any suggestion on how to do this?

I tried to drop the TEMP_TRAN and it says table doesn't exist. So there is no TEMP_TRAN table existed in system. why am I getting this error? I am using TOAD to create this stored proc. Any help would be highly appreciated.
