Making IE "forget" information entered in form when using back button.

I have a page with a form where many of the fields are populated from variables passed in the URL. Those fields are disabled (NON-EDITABLE) and are only there for the user to view. The remaining fields require user input and are NOT disabled (EDITABLE). When the form is submitted a confirmation page comes up. It may be the case that the user needs to submit several of these forms where the NON-EDITABLE information is identical from form to form, so being able to go back to the form page from the confirmation page would save a lot of time. The way I want this to work is when a user presses the back button all the NON-EDITABLE fields are populated, but the EDITABLE fields are blank. This is what Firefox is doing, but IE8 is does not "forget" what has been entered in the EDITABLE fields. To disable the cache the following appears at the beginning of my page AND at the end of my page. <head> <meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache"/> <meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-store"/> <head/> What more must I do to make IE forget what was entered in the EDITABLE fields when the back button is pressed? All of my pages are generated with PHP if that matters. EDIT: It appears to me that this is a problem of IE caching my page even though I have told it not to. Are my meta tags correct? Do I need to do something else to prevent IE from caching my page?

Modify url in browser using javascript?

Hi, Is it possible to change the url in the user's browser without actually loading a page, using javascript? I don't think it is (could lead to unwanted behavior), I'm in a situation where this would be convenient though: I have a web app which displays reports generated by users. Layout roughly looks like: ----------------------------------------------------------- Column 1 | Column 2 ----------------------------------------------------------- Report A | Report B | Currently selected report contents here. Report C | right now the user would be looking at a url like: www.mysite.com/user123 To see the above page. When the user clicks the report names in column 1, I load the contents of that report in column 2 using ajax. This is convenient for the user, but the url in their browser remains unchanged. The users want to copy the url for a report to share with friends, so I suppose I could provide a button to generate a url for them, but it would just be more convenient for them to have it already as the url in their browser, something like: www.mysite.com/user123/reportb the alternate is to not load the contents of the report in column 2 using ajax, but rather a full page refresh. This would at least have a linkable url ready for the user in their url bar, but not as convenient as using ajax. Thanks

im trying to understand the process of creating tables in ruby-on-rails 3. i have read about migrations. so i am supposed to create tables by editing in the files in: Database Migrations/migrate/20100611214419_create_posts Database Migrations/migrate/20100611214419_create_categories but they were generated by: rails generate model Post name:string description:text rails generate model Category name:string description:text does this mean i have to use "rails generate model" command everytime i want to create a table? what if i create a migration file but want to add columns. do i create another migration file for adding those or do i edit the existing migration file directly? the guide told me to add a new one, but here is the part i dont understand. why would i add a new one? cause then the new state will be dependent of 2 migration files. in symfony i just edit a schema.yml file directly, there are no migration files with versioning and so on. im new to RoR and want to get the picture of creating tables. thanks

style ul with width to accommodate items

Sorry I could not find a similar answer on SO. What I would like would be for the width to enlarge to accommodate the full length, but if I put width: auto; it will expand to 100%. Background The ul is of course coming from jquery ui autocomplete. I am styling the results a bit using the autocomplete.html extension. Problem is that everything is working ok in firefox an chrome because the autocomplete is set to the correct width on creation. in IE this does not happen (width is too small) so the text wraps. I am hping to come to a simple css only solution, without fiddling around in jQuery.

Only first word of two strings gets added to db

When trying to add words to a database via php, only the first word of both strings gets added. Display last image taken in Media.Images

Hi I'm inserting an image from the camera (Taking a picture) into the MediaStore.Images.Media datastore. Does anyone know how I can go about displaying the last picture taken? I used Uri image = ContentUris.withAppendedId(externalContentUri, 45); to display an image from the datastore but obviously 45 is not the correct image. I try to pass the information from the previous activity (Camera) to the display activity but I'm assuming due to the photo call back being its own thread the value never gets set. Mysql dropping inserts with triggers

Using mysql 5.5. I have two tables. One has a whitelist of hashes. When I insert a new row into the other table, I want to first compare the hash in the insert statement to the whitelist. If it's in the whitelist, I don't want to do the insert (less data to plow through later). The inserts are generated from another program and are text files with sql statements. I've been playing with triggers, and almost have it working: BEGIN IF (select count(md5hash) from whitelist where md5hash=new.md5hash) 0 THEN SIGNAL SQLSTATE '45000' SET MESSAGE_TEXT = 'Already Whitelisted'; END IF; END But there's a problem. The Signal throwing up the error stops the import. I want to skip that line, not stop the whole import. Some searching didn't find any way to silently skip the import. My next idea was to create a duplicate table definition, and redirect the insert to that dup table. But the old and new don't seem to apply to table names. Other then adding an ignore column to my table then doing a mass drop based on that column after the import, is there any way to achieve my goal?

Hacking the WordPress Category Widget

The default WordPress categories widget does not allow excluding named categories. I've created a plugin which creates adds a Customized category widget to the "Available Widgets" listing which gives me some control over the items I want to exclude. I'd also like to give the user the options to specify the title of the categories listing (just as they can do in the default categories widget). btw, I'm using id 1 which is the default "uncategorized" category and assigning items to that category that I don't want to appear in the listing. Any help much appreciated! :)

Scalable way to store files on server (PHP)?

I'm creating my first web application - a really simplistic online text editor. What I need to do is find the best way to store text based files - a lot of them. These text files can be past 10,000 words in size (text words not computer words.) in essence I want the text documents to be limitless in size. I was thinking about storing the text files in my MySQL database - but thought there was a better way. Instead I'm planing on storing the text files in XML based format in a directory on my server. The rows in the database define the name of the xml based text file and the user who created the text along with basic metadata. An ID is generated using a V4 GUID generator , which gives the text an id and stores the text in the "/store" directory on my server. The text definitions in my server contain this id, and the android app I'm developing gets the contents of the text file by retrieving the text definition and then downloading the text to the local device using the GUID in the text definition. I just think this is a botch job? how can I improve this system? There has been cases of GUID colliding. I don't want this to happen. A "slim" possibility isn't good enough - I need to make sure there is absolutely no chance in a GUID collision. I was planning on checking the database for texts that have the same id before storing the text with a particular id - I however believe with over 20,000 pieces of text in my database this would take an long time and produce unneeded stress on the server. How can I make GUID safe? What happens when a GUID collides? The server backend is going to be written in PHP.

Why would gnu ld link order causes Signal 11 (SEGV) on startup?

We are building a large application in C++ that includes the use of many (static) libraries. We have a problem where the application crashes on startup with a Signal 11, before we even reach main. After much debugging, we have observed that if we explicitly reference an object file so its link order is early, the program crashes on startup. If the file is referenced later (or not referenced at all), the program does not crash. To be clear, there is NO code invoked directly from this object file. However, as it is C++, there might be static objects that do get constructed (it's a CORBA IDL generated file). We use the -Wl,--start-group ... --end-group arguments to multi-pass link the symbols since the libraries are interdependent. Here is a representation of what I mean. This is what the linker's object file order is: Order 1 Order 2 Order 3 foo.o foo.o foo.o ... ... ... main.o main.o main.o crasher.o libA.o libA.o libA.o LibB.o LibB.o LibB.o LibC.o LibC.o LibC.o crasher.o Results: NO CRASH NO CRASH CRASH Does any one have an idea why the linkage order has an effect on the crash? It would be nice if we could force the crasher.o to link later, but we're really after an explanation. Also, is there a way to force the linker to place crasher.o towards the end? Just to add to the fun, in actuality, crasher.o is part of a Library in the --start/--end-group.

I'm wanting to save a Many-to-one relationship parsed from JSON into Core Data. How to display controllers with proper aligning in iPhone screen ?

I have a issue of displaying information in iPhone screen. Case is as follows. I crated a view-based application in Xcode name as myView. Then open myViewViewController.xib interface builder, change back groung color and added label at top-let (0, 0) of the view. Then I add new file named as myView2ViewController, which is subclass of UIViewController and corresponding XIB also generated. Open myView2ViewController in IB and added a label at top-left as previous. Also changed the background color. In the "applicationDidFinishLaunching" of AppDeligate do following myView2ViewController *mView = [[myView2ViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"myView2ViewController" bundle:nil]; [window addSubview:mView.view]; When I run the application, it is shown as upper part of the Label is sheared. It seems as whole UI has been moved 20 px upper (Because, there is a horizontal space in the bottom). I guess this is due to some positioning. But still I could not found any way to fix it. Hope somebody will help me to identify this issue !!

Why are some classes created on the fly and others aren't in CakePHP 1.2.7?

I have the following model classes: class User extends AppModel { var $name= 'User'; var $belongsTo=array('SellerType' => array('className' => 'SellerType'), 'State' => array('className' => 'State'), 'Country' => array('className' => 'Country'), 'AdvertMethod' => array('className' => 'AdvertMethod'), 'UserType' => array('className' => 'UserType')); var $hasMany = array('UserQuery' => array('className' => 'UserQuery'));} And: class UserQuery extends AppModel { var $name = 'UserQuery'; var $belongsTo = array('User', 'ResidenceType', 'HomeType');} Everything works fine with the user class and all its associations, but the UserQuery class is being completely ignored by the orm (table name user_queries and the generated queries do cast it as UserQuery. Another weird thing is that if I delete the code inside the User class I get an error, but if I do the same for the UserQuery class I get no errors. So my question is why does cakephp generate a class on the fly for the UserQuery and ignores my class, and why doesn't it generate a class on the fly for the User as well ?

How can I get sessions to work if I'm using Google App Engine + Django 1.1?

Is there a way for me to get sessions working? I know Django has built in session management, and GAE has some tools for it if you're using their watered down version of Django 0.96, but is there a way to get sessions to work if you're trying to use GAE w/ Django 1.1 (i.e. use_library() call). I assume using a db-backed session doesn't work, and a file system backed one won't work b/c we don't have access to the filesystem if we deploy to the Google production servers. This kinda worked (as in didn't crap out) when I used SessionMiddleware backed by a local-memory backed cache and a non-persistent cache (i.e. setting SESSION_ENGINE to django.contrib.sessions.backends.cache). But the session never seems to persist in this case, no matter how I set the timeouts. A new session key is generated on every page reload. Maybe this is b/c the GAE assumes complete statelessness with each request and blows away my local cache? Apologies in advance, I'm pretty new to Python. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm confused about the errors generated by the following code. In Derived::doStuff, I can access Base::output directly by calling it. Why can't I create a pointer to output() in the same context that I can call output()? (I thought protected / private governed whether you could use a name in a specific context, but apparently that is incomplete?) Is there any trick to match two XML by one XSLT? I mean the way I can apply XSLT to a parameter passed. For example (I missed declarations to be short). XML1: XML to be transformed: <myData> <Collection> </Collection> </myData> XSLT need to be applied to the previous XML: <xsl:param name='items' /> <xsl:template match='Collection'>  </xsl:template> XML2: XML data passed as the parameter 'items': <newData> <Item>1</Item> <Item>2</Item> <Item>3</Item> </newData> And I need to create a set of nodes in the 'Collection' node in XML1 for each 'Item' element in XML2 using XSLT. And I do not know what XML2 contains exactly at design time. It is generated at runtime, so I can't place it inside XSLT, I know only its schema.

XML1: XML to be transformed: <myData> <Collection> </Collection> </myData> XSLT need to be applied to the previous XML: <xsl:param name='items' /> <xsl:template match='Collection'>  </xsl:template> XML2: XML data passed as the parameter 'items': <newData> <Item>1</Item> <Item>2</Item> <Item>3</Item> </newData> And I need to create a set of nodes in the 'Collection' node in XML1 for each 'Item' element in XML2 using XSLT. And I do not know what XML2 contains exactly at design time. It is generated at runtime, so I can't place it inside XSLT, I know only its schema.

Activity won't start a service

I m trying to start an IntentService from the main activity of y application and it won't start. I have the service in the manifest file. I have my application online on the Google Apps Engine. When I deploy this application, this error is generated. I am using Netbeans 6.9. My jdk is installed at : "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_23\". I have installed Google App Engine for Java. This application is getting deployed & run on localhost very well. I am also able to start Google App Engine Server. I have set Environment variables as : 1) classpath : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_23\bin; 2) path : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_23\bin; 3) JAVA_HOME : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_23\bin; 4) include : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_23\include; 5) lib : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_23\lib; However, in system32, I am not finding java.exe, javac.exe or javawc.exe. Also, while running this : 1) java.exe 2) javac.exe 3) java -version from Command Line, they give proper output. How do I make my application properly deployed ?
