  • Calling a method from another view in objective-c. (iphone sdk).

    Hello. I am currently creating a multi-view game on the iPhone platform. I have my main view start to play some background music upon loading. I then go to another view and start the game. I am trying to get the background music from the original view to stop once I start the game. I am having trouble getting the stop playing music message to my original view. Here is the relevant info: The main view where the sound is played from is just a subView of the programViewController class called *viewController. The heading is in the programAppDelegate class. The sound is done using the AVAudioPlayer class and plays fine when the program starts up and when I navigate to other subviews that are added on by going through the menu system. In the view that I want to start the game, I attempt to call the instance of the class to turn of the player but anytime I use this format of code: [viewController #######]; It gives a build error of "viewController undeclared" no matter what I put after the "viewController" in the message.I have attempted to import the programAppDelegate.h file but it still gives the same error. I realize this might be a simple misunderstanding of the objective-c language but I cannot find any info on this issue. I am a recent convert from Java so I am trying to wrap my head around everything. Thank you for your time!

    I am developing an application with a large number of elements that must be ordered alphabetically, and I'd like it to have the same look and feel as android's contact list, That is [Letter] <contact> <contact> [Letter] <contact> <contact> <contact> etc. Which is the best way to achieve this same layout? I've seen several tutorials concerning scrollable lists, but this is a bit different. I've looked a bit through android's source code, but if anyone has the answer, it would save me a lot of time.     I am attempting to implement a custom locale service in an MVC 2 webpage. I have an interface IResourceDictionary that provides a couple of methods for accessing resources by culture. This is because I want to avoid the static classes of .Net resources. The problem is accessing the chosen IResourceDictionary from the views. I have contemplated using the ViewDataDictionary given, creating a base controller from which all my controllers inherits that adds my IResourceDictionary to the ViewData before each action executes. Then I could call my resource dictionary this way: (ViewData["Resources"] as IResourceDictionary).GetEntry(params); Admittedly, this is extremely verbose and ugly, especially in inline code as we are encouraged to use in MVC. Right now I am leaning towards static class access ResourceDictionary.GetEntry(params); because it is slightly more elegant. I also thought about adding it to my typed model for each page, which seems more robust than adding it to the ViewData.. What is the preferred way to access my ResourceDictionary from the views? All my views will be using this dictionary.

My user control just has two textboxes for now, but I am not able to persist my inputs across postbacks. My ids are same everytime. I have enableViewstate ="true" in all controls all up to page level. Please adivce.

  • OOP + MVC advice on Member Controller

    Hi, I am trying to follow good practices as much as possible while I'm learning using OOP in an MVC structure, so i'm turning to you guys for a bit of advice on something which is bothering me a little here. I am writing a site where I will have a number of different forms for members to fill in (mainly data about themselves), so i've decided to set up a Member controller where all of the forms relating to the member are represented as individual methods. This includes login/logout methods, as well as editing profile data etc. In addition to these methods, i also have a method to generate the member's control panel widget, which is a constant on every page on the site while the member is logged in. The only thing is, all of the other methods in this controller all have the same dependencies and form templates, so it would be great to generate all this in the constructor, but as the control_panel method does not have the same dependencies etc, I cannot use the constructor for this purpose, and instead I have to redeclare the dependencies and same template snippets in each method. This obviously isn't ideal and doesn't follow DRY principle, but I'm wondering what I should do with the control_panel method, as it is related to the member and that's why I put it in that controller in the first place. Am I just over-complicating things here and does it make sense to just move the control_panel method into a simple helper class?   • Count number of results in a View

    I need to count how many people belong in pre-defined groups (this is easy to do in SQL using the SELECT COUNT statement). My Views query runs fine and displays the actual data in my table, but I simply need to know how many results it found. However there doesn't seem to be a COUNT option in views. I am guessing I am going to have to use some sort of views hook, and then stick the result in the table. Here's a quick example of what i'm trying to achieve: My Table ---------------------- Group A | 20 people Group B | 63 people and so on. (I've tried using the Views_Calc module, but I get errors because it is not quite stable yet.) Anybody know of an easy way to count results in Views?

  • Refetching a previously visited page

    All, I am having a field day with page refetching. Any help or pointer will be greatly appreciated!! The behavior is a bit specific to mobile browser. Problem: I have two pages and created a shortcut link to pg#1 in the home page. Through a form submit button, user is taken from pg#1 to pg#2. All that is working fine. Now once I am on pg#2. I will leave the browser and click the shortcut later. The browser will stay on pg#2 and won't go to pg#1 even though the path in URLS is different between the two views. It is almost like Django decides that since I have already visited view#1, it doesn't need to fetch it again. This problem or behavior doesn't happen if I move the same code that handle the two views and the templates to a bare bone test project. Setup: I am using django-registration, context session. I am not using any HTML caching tag. I already have DEBUG turned on in my settings.py. Are there other ways that I can tell what the server is doing.     Hi there I have a question to the following procedure: script/generate scaffold product title:string description:text db:migrate #then I generate a migration which adds a column description to the table products and migrate the db again. My question is: why is the field description not added to the project-views? Is that normal rails scaffold behaviour? I think I saw in a video tutorial that the scaffold updates as well the views, which would be very convenient. Thanks in advance for any help!

I posted the uri(content://media/extrenal/images/media) of the gallery images to the php page. I was not able to recreate images by using webView function loadUrl(). Should i need to upload the whole gallery to another directory and display the images? Or passing the bitmap itself will do? Please suggest me an idea to solve the problem.

  • Include a repetitive chunk of html with PHP?

    I basically have a div on my Web Site that always has the same stuff. However, this div is not present on all pages which is why I won't use the dynamic web template. I was wondering if it was possible for PHP to get the code from a document on the server and put in into the div? Ex: div id="section... then my text file contains (p) hello (p) basically I want PHP to put it into the div when the user sees it. If theres a smarter way of acheiving this I'd be open to it aswell.   • How do I view the parameters of currently running procs in SQL Server 2008

    I am trying to troubleshoot an issue that is popping up on our new SQL Server. While viewing the running processes (sp_who2) I can't tell what parameters a proc was started with. I can find the name of the proc using: DBCC INPUTBUFFER (spid) I can even find some additional info, but I can't see a way to show the parameters. (http://sqlserverpedia.com/blog/sql-server-bloggers/sql-server-%E2%80%93-get-last-running-query-based-on-spid/) I know I can see the parameters if I do a trace, but that doesn't help in this case.
