  • MSDCS zone missing

    I seem to have an issue with our AD/DNS, the structure looks like: but the BPA gives me an error: Issue: The Active Directory integrated DNS zone _msdcs.<domain> was not found. Impact: DNS queries for the Active Directory integrated zone _msdcs.<domain> might fail. Resolution: Restore the Active Directory integrated DNS zone _msdcs.<domain> Now we've got 4 DC's in total: 2 running Server 2008 R2, 2 running Server 2003. The older ones will be retired sometime this year. Actually everything seems to be working ok (if something isn't then we don't know about it), we've got quite a few .NET applications authenticating against AD, no DNS issues from what I can tell and various bits on the network point to all 4 controllers. Furthermore a dcdiag /dnsall comes up with all passes. Is this something I should be worried about?

  • Expanding on requestaudit - Tracing who is doing what...and for how long

    One of the most helpful tracing sections in WebCenter Content (and one that is on by default) is the requestaudit tracing.  This tracing section summarizes the top service requests happening in the server along with how they are performing.  By default, it has 2 different rotations.  One happens every 2 minutes (listing up to 5 services) and another happens every 60 minutes (listing up to 20 services).  These traces provide the total time for all the requests against that service along with the number of requests and its average request time.  This information can provide a good start in possibly troubleshooting performance issues or tracking a particular issue.   [Read More]

  • Default file type supported by IHS web server

    Hello, We earlier used IIS web server. To redirect some URLs ending with .asp, we created a directory structure based on URL's to be redirected; wrote VB script in .asp files to redirect present page to desired page and placed these .asp files in appropriate directories. Finally copied this directory structure to the docroot of IIS webserver. Due to some reasons, we had to switch to IHS web server. As IHS does not support .asp files, we can't use same directory structure having .asp files to redirect our URLs. Please let me know the default file type that is supported by IHS webserver (as the default filetype supported in IHS is .asp). Thanks in advance! SK

  • Large concurrent user performance issues for Apache + mod_jk + GlassFish v3.1 clusters

    I am running a java ee 6 ear application on a GlassFish v3.1 ( 2 clusters with 2 instances each) load balanced by an Apache v2.2 with mod_jk - all on the same server (Windows Server 2003 R2, Intel Xeon CPU x5670 @2.93Ghz, 6GB RAM, 2 cpus). The web application is accessed by around ~100 users. When they all try to access it at the same time every morning ~8am, the response is very slow while trying to access the main jsf home page. Apart from that I have seen the CPU usage spike upto 99% by the httpd process during the day frequently and I start seeing errors in the mod_jk.log file.   • FTP issue - VSFTPd and connecting to from FileZilla

    I'm trying to connect to a CentOS Linux box that I have hosted on EC2 and I think I have everything configured correctly but when I try to connect I get this series of messages Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Response: 220 (vsFTPd 2.0.5) Command: USER tyndall Response: 331 Please specify the password. Command: PASS ********* Response: 230 Login successful. Status: Connected Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: PWD Response: 257 "/home/tyndall" Command: TYPE I Response: 200 Switching to Binary mode. Command: PASV Error: Connection timed out Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing Not sure where to start troubleshooting this issue. Any ideas? Do I need to change any permissions? I would think this ID has the ability to see my own home directory. I am able to push/pull files from the command line version of FTP client working on Windows.

  • Can I automatically login to ssh using passwords from OS X keychain?

    I need to login to an ssh server which doesn't support key based authentication. And I don't want to type the passwords every time. I am using OS X Lion (10.7.2). I have added the passwords to the OS X keychain[1]. Now I can retrieve the password automatically from the keychain using /usr/bin/security, however I can't find a way to send this password to the ssh prompt. I also tried sshpass. However when I try to run it ssh exits with the following error: ssh_askpass: exec(/usr/libexec/ssh-askpass): No such file or directory Permission denied, please try again. ssh_askpass: exec(/usr/libexec/ssh-askpass): No such file or directory Permission denied, please try again. ssh_askpass: exec(/usr/libexec/ssh-askpass): No such file or directory Permission denied (publickey,password). Is there anyway I can login to this server without having to enter the password every time?   • Google analytics - drop in traffic

    Bit of a general question here. We are in the process of converting a number of our clients from older web sites to new ones. The problem we are getting, and sorry for being so general here, is we are getting a sharp decline in traffic as reported on Google Analytics. It's not a gradual decline, it seems to hit almost as soon as the new site goes live. I've just got a few questions to see if there is something we are doing wrong: a) We are using the same analytics accounts going from old to new site. Is this a bad idea? b) The actual analytics code is integrated into the pages using a server-side include. IS this a bad idea? c) We structure our sites differently to our old site. IE. The old sites would pretty must have all the web pages in the root directory, and hyperlinks would be linked to the page files: EG. <a href="somepage.aspx">Link</a> Our new sites now have a directory structure that pretty much reflects the navigation structure, and hyper links link to the pages directory instead of the actual page: EG. <a href="/new-items/shoes/">New shoes</a> Is this a bad idea. I'm really searching for a needle in a haystack here. Would appriciate any help or advice as to why we are getting such a sharp and sudden drop in traffic. Again, so this is such a general question.   • IIS's SMTP Pickup timing

    I have IIS's SMTP server set up as a closed relay, and it's working nicely. I also have an application that writes EML files. If the EML files are written to a temporary directory, then moved to the server's Pickup directory, email is sent as expected. However, if I have the application write the EML files directly to the Pickup directory, the email will often fail to send. This seems to be a race condition: the server starts processing the EML file as soon as it detects it in Pickup, even though the application hasn't completed writing it. The result is the server considers the EML to be malformed, and it punts it to Badmail. While I very much appreciate the server's earnestness, it seems that I need to dial it back a bit for this scenario. Does anybody know if IIS's SMTP server's polling frequency can be configured? I am using IIS7, Windows Server 2008 R2. The application that writes the EML cannot be modified.

    I'm having trouble getting approved for a merchant account for my website. Basically I have expert users and users. Expert users provide a service through my website which they set their own rates. Users purchase the services, then pay me, I give 90% to the expert users. I have been told this is factoring.. Is the way around this, a system like freelancer.com does? Where users deposit money into their freelancer account, then pay for the services they won? What are the negatives to this system? What about sites like 99designs? They accept CC payments and then pay the winning designer. How are some sites doing this but I'm having so much trouble getting approved?

  • User account shows two Downloads folders

    I have my user account on my D drive and junction'd to the C:\users folder. I accidentally moved my profile Downloads folder (C:\users\me\Downloads) and then moved it back to its path on the D drive (C:\me\Downloads). After doing this, the directory tree for my user profile lists two Downloads directories, one located at C:\users\me and one at D:\me. I tried deleting the directory from the D drive, then restoring it from the Recycle Bin to the proper location on the C drive (actually the D drive, accessed through the junction), but it gave me the two Downloads directories again. Is there some way to fix this so that the only listing is for the C:\users\me\Downloads directory, like it was to begin with?

  • How can I check whether a volume is mounted where it is supposed to be using Python?

    I've got a backup script written in Python which creates the destination directory before copying the source directory to it. I've configured it to use /external-backup as the destination, which is where I mount an external hard drive. I just ran the script without the hard drive being turned on (or being mounted) and found that it was working as normal, albeit making a backup on the internal hard drive, which has nowhere near enough space to back itself up. My question is: how can I check whether the volume is mounted in the right place before writing to it? If I can detect that /external-backup isn't mounted, I can prevent writing to it. The bonus question is why was this allowed, when the OS knows that directory is supposed to live on another device, and what would happen to the data (on the internal hard drive) should I later mount that device (the external hard drive)? Clearly there can't be two copies on different devices at the same path! Thanks in advance!

  • Can I list file names (or their parent directories) that were recently deleted using rm in OS X?

    Is it possible to find out which files and directories have recently been deleted by rm in OS X? Or failing that, is it possible to find which parent directories have had files or directories within it deleted? The OS version is Snow Leopard. Background: Last night, rvm (ruby version manager) did rm -rf of the ~/ruby directory from the home directory. (This bug has since been fixed) Ideally, I'd like to know what files within the ~/ruby directory were deleted, but failing that, I'd like to know if rvm deleted anything outside of ~/ruby . In case anyone's wondering about backups...: Just about everything within ~/ruby is a git project that has a remote repo, and I have a fairly recent Time Machine backup (only 20 days old).

  • Passenger not working with SSL on Apache 2

    I have a Rails app running on Passenger; It works as expected over unencrypted connections. I also have a working Apache SSL setup; I can access any static file available via http with https. When I try to access the Rails app via https, I get a 403 error (Directory index forbidden by rule). Turning on indexes for the directory simply causes Apache to display an index. I do have +ExecCGI set for the appropriate directory in the SSL version of the VirtualHost directive. I'm sure there's something obvious I'm overlooking. I'm just not sure where I need to be looking.
