  • New Bluetooth API question

    I have written a small app that puts my bluetooth in discoverable mode for a long time (G1 - API 1.6). I use that along with small program on windows to lock/unlock the computer if the phone is close by. Recently i try to port this app to my nexus one but it seems like i have to pop up the message every 300s to enable device to go to discoverable mode. does anyone know how i can suppress that? I'm ok with saying ok for the first time but not every 300s :)

    I use BroadcastReceiver to intercept incoming call on Android phone as below tm = (TelephonyManager) context.getSystemService(Context.TELEPHONY_SERVICE); Bundle bundle = intent.getExtras(); String number = bundle.getString(TelephonyManager.EXTRA_INCOMING_NUMBER); In the "private number" case, I tested on two devices, it shows the number as -1 on HTC Wildfire and -2 on Galaxy S. I checked the android.telephony.PhoneNumberUtils but it could't help me. Is there a function or a generic way to detect a private number on Android phone? Thanks

    When I try to insert (lets say) 30 rows in my table. For example INSERT INTO customers(cust_name, cust_address, cust_city, cust_state, cust_zip, cust_country) VALUES( 'Pep E. LaPew', '100 Main Street', 'Los Angeles', 'CA', '90046', 'USA' ), ( 'M. Martian', '42 Galaxy Way', 'New York', 'NY', '11213', 'USA' ), ... ; And cust_name has to be unique. How can I then identify the records that failed to insert because their cust_name already exists? Is it possible to return them?

When we upgrade a library it would be useful to quickly find out which projects have a dependency on the library (and might need to use the new version) Obviously I can manually look in all the pom files or write a script to do it but this is less than ideal. Are there any tools that provide this functionality. e.g. a hudson plugin, Nexus, artifactory etc?

It's works fine in emulator and Samsung Galaxy Tab when i tested. But some bugs are reporting by the client, facebook login doesn't load. I think they tested in a device with Android2.1. What are the reasons to don't load facebook login Dialog?. How can i find the reason for this bug?.

I recently tried to push other files to my phone (in my case gpx) and my phone has rejected it automatically... is there a way to bypass or extent this filter?     We have a blog - which is current spread to 9 pages, every page has a unique title - page 1, page 2, page 3 and so on. Also, as it's a blog, every page has unique 10 listing entry on one page. Is rel="prev" and rel="next" can be safely ignored as all these are listing and not content pages of article. What I read in all through Google Search is that rel="next" and rel="prev" should be applicable on where the content is spread across multiple pages. But - as it's a blog, it has blog listings and every listing has unique content This is the blog: http://www.mycarhelpline.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=latest&Itemid=91. May recommend, if by ignoring rel="next" and rel="prev" - are we inviting Google to treat the blog listing pages as duplicate.

    I want to add 'www' in front of a subdomain e.g. www.subdomain.domain.com My blogs are hosted on Blogger and am using GoDaddy for having custom domains. I have HOST @ entries for 'domain' pointing specified by blogger. The following subsdomains are configured by adding CNAME alias as follows : subdomain -> ghs.google.com www -> ghs.google.com For domain (including www.domain) I have one blog. For subdomain, I am pointing it to seperate blog using above entries and 'subdomain.domain.com' works fine. I read articles on this issue and tried adding following CNAME entry but no luck : www.subdomain -> subdomain.domain.com How do I make 'www.subdomain.domain.com' work ?

I want to redirect this people to my new blog in a nice way, like a 5 seconds delay with some information or something. Any suggestions?   • SEO: Moving articles from one domain to another

    Currently I have articles up on a website (site A) that is not mine (but I can remove the articles.) The article's aren't faring well (not only due to the recent Google changes) but because they really could do better if I made some tweaks myself instead of relying on the domain owner's SEO skills. So I would like to set up my own website and have just my articles on it (site B.) In the past when I've moved content, I've set up redirects but this time I can't do that. What would be the best way to move the articles without having to worry about them being counted as duplicate content or any other lame stuff? Should I, A: Save the articles on my computer and remove them from Site A. Wait for Google to remove them from the index (several months.) B: Remove the articles from Site A and immediately place them on Site B.

  • Would a cut and paste coder ever get past a job interview?

    As a long time cut and paste coder I never committed much of the syntax of a language to memory. Even worse, I now use google to solve many of the coding problems which are of the type typically used in job interviews. This has greatly increased my productivity, the quality of the end result and stops me perpetuating the same bugs across all my code. However it means I don't actually remember the detail of the solution. For some reason in a job interview "I would look that up on google" does not seem to be the right answer. Am I better off in the interview to pass no comment on my coding style and simply pull out an iPad and produce the solution?
