  • Best method of Zend Framework caching

    I have a blog built using Zend Framework, which I realize might be a bit overkill for a blog alone, but I am planning on adding other features in the future. Nevertheless, I've noticed pages could be a little speedier. I've done a basic caching method that basically captures everything in index.php (Core frontend and File backend), which works great, but unfortunately it also prevents dynamic page contents from updating (messages like "this was posted 5 minutes ago", etc) until the cache period expires. So my question is what would be the best method of caching to improve performance? I am doing fairly basic queries which are mostly simple selects, not many joins or anything fancy (using Zend_Db_Table), and even on a small database page loads are a little sluggish. Is it worth it to cache queries or should I focus my time elsewhere?

  • Using WPFPerf to profile a WPF 4.0 application doesn't show me any information

    I am trying to use WPFPerf to profile a WPF 4.0 application (I have the latest WPFPerf that should work on WPF 4.0 aps). I start the tool Visual Profiler from WPFPerf, I start my aplication, but after that nothing happens and the element tree from the Visual Profiler is empty. No other error message is shown. Can anyone tell me what am I not doint right? As an additional information, when I try to analize my .exe assembly or any other assembly from my application, I get a BadFormatException saying that the assembly was build with a newer version of .NET. From the download page http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=191420 I see that this version of WPFPerf should be ok for my app

  • error calling c# com interop dll

    Hello, I have a python project that calls a c++ dll that calls a c# dll. I wanted all to run without installing visual studio 2008. I allready made the c++ part by installing Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) and I also installed .net framework 3.5.   • Which technology(s) / language(s) to write linux web application/service? [closed]

    I am currently playing with some open source home automation software www.domotiga.nl The software is built in Gambas2 (a graphical programming language similar to visual basic). I am considering building something similar or porting domotiga to a server based application/service. The application would need a web front end and i will likely be developing in debian (arm). But i'm not sure if php or python are suitable for server based applications which need to be always running (collecting data etc) rather than just running when accessed. Which technology(s) / language(s) would you suggest i look into? I used to do a lot of Visual Basic, then VB.NET, now C# and have played with php a few years back- but don't really want this to sway the decision too much as i should be able to pickup whatever language if i decide to proceed.

    I am attempting to design and build a website for my friends band. There is minimal content to be included such as bio,news,enbemdded Audio/Visual material. My web dev expertise is average. I'm basicaly looking for inspiration, I was edging towards embedding a silverlight deepzoom xap object to add some visual stimulation, perhaps by featuring a high res photo of the bandshardware/equipment which zooms when mouseover occurs. Does anyone have any cool ideas for a central feature for this site, and which way to approact it in terms of technique (js,css,silverlight etc) If anyone has any immediate ideas which they think would be cool then I am eager to hear them! Also if anyone can link me to any cool band sites they have come across recently I would be greatful,nothing too complicated though please I will be doing all the work myself. Im want the site to be simple but have a certain wow factor!

    I am getting an error in visual studio that appears to be flat out wrong. Here it is: The tag contains duplicate 'ID' attributes. on the following line: Rica.Yoodul.MiniSites.BaseMiniSiteUserControl ucMaster = (Rica.Yoodul.MiniSites.BaseMiniSiteUserControl)Page.LoadControl("~/MiniSites/" + templateName + "/Master.ascx"); I have checked though both the master and child pages for repeats of the id I last added (the only one added since last successful test) and the ID is used once across both files. Other than controls (e.g ), is there anything this error refers to? Or is there a workaround? I have checked I am editing the right files. On the face of it this appears to be a visual studio bug, but I want to be sure.

I right clicked the solution name and selected "Add Existing Item" and located my Microsoft Access DB file. I followed the wizard and it setup the necessary XSD files. I started coding and I got this message. I did a little google-ing and I cant figure it out. This is a WPF application created with Visual Studio 2010.

    I'm looking into Mono and .NET C#, we'll be needing to run the code on Linux Servers in the future when the project is developed. At this point I've been looking at ASP.NET MVC and Mono I run an ubuntu distro and want to do development for a web application, some of the other developers use windows and run other .NET items with Visual Studio. What does Mono not provide that Visual Studio does? If running this on Linux later shouldn't we use Mono Develop ? Is there some third party tools or addin's that might be an issue with Mono later?

    I would like to know if in general it is possible to create a C++ DLL with Visual C++ 2010 starting from C code and the header files I find in a Linux distribution. Theoretically, if I take a piece of C code (that includes different header files) from Linux and I find in the Linux file system all the header files needed for the linkage of the project, will I be able to successfully compile the project in Windows with Visual C++ 2010? Are there some examples or a tutorial for doing this? After compiling a DLL, I would like to use it in a C# application, which I will run under Linux with Mono.

  • How to Embed/Link binary data into a C++ DLL

    So I have a Visual Studio 2008 project which has a large amount of binary data that it is currently referencing. I would like to package the binary data much like you can do with C# by adding it as a "resource" and compiling it as a DLL. Lets say all my data has an extension of ".data" and is currently being read from the visual studio project. Is there a way that you can compile or link the data into the .dll which it is calling? I've looked at some of the google link for this and so far I haven't come up with anything - the only possible solution I've come up with is to use something like ResGen to create a .resources file and then link it using AssemblyLinker with /Embed or /Link flags. I dont think it'd work properly though because I dont have text files to create the .resources files, but rather binary files themselves. Any advice?

    I'm getting started with OpenGL and shaders using GLUT and PyOpenGL. I can draw a basic scene but for some reason I can't get it to update. E.g. any changes I make during idle(), display(), or reshape() are not reflected.     I'm used to doing basic password protection for Apache w/ the following method in Apache config files: AuthType Basic AuthName "By Invitation Only" AuthUserFile /path/to/.htpasswd Require valid-user However, I've been asked to put some protection on a subdirectory of a site running ColdFusion on top of IIS6, and I'm unfamiliar with how to do this. How is this done? What should I look out for? I just need to password protect an administrative subdirectory, so I don't need a full user login system - just something that limits who can access the section of the site.

  • ideas for simple objects for day to day web-dev use?

    Dang-I know this is a subjective question so will probably get booted off/locked, but I'll try anyway, because I don't know where else to ask (feel free to point me to a better place to ask this!) I'm just wrapping my head around oop with PHP, but I'm still not using frameworks or anything. I'd like to create several small simple objects that I could use in my own websites to better get a feel for them. Can anyone recommend a list or a resource that could point me to say 10 day-to-day objects that people would use in basic websites? The reason I'm asking is because I'm confusing myself a bit. For example, I was thinking of a "database connection" object, but then I'm just thinking that is just a function, and not really an "object"?? So the question is: What are some examples of objects used in basic PHP websites (not including "shopping cart" type websites) Thanks!

    Hi, This is my first time building a website and using CodeIgniter for a school project. I was wondering whether you have any tips on uploading CI to a free web host , my database, free webhosting and basic security tips. Can I just upload the entire CI folder? Or do I have to upload individual files (God no!)? What are my options? What about my MySQL database - do I just upload my mysqldump to the webhost? Also, can you recommend a good free webhost. I was thinking about 000webhost.     im using mvc framework and i have learned some techniques that help me with different parts of RAD. models: doctrine/visual paradigm controllers/libraries: various design patterns now i only need to know what technique/solution i should use for the views so that i can create views more rapidly. cause i don't think it's efficient to code css/html manually, even though i understand it. its the same principle when using visual paradigm to create both my mysql database tables and doctrine model classes. i believe in using right tools will boost up development speed. so what could i use for the views to save time and energy and don't reinvent the wheel all the time? dreamweaver? any css generation tools? 960/blueprint for layout? suggestions? thanks

    I want to use Originate API of Asterisk to place an outbound call on a FXO channel, for testing purpose I am using X100P card and, as expected, card is not able to detect if the number is busy/ringing or when it is answered. I want to know which card should I use so that I can get such basic events ... I am not really interested in detailed call progress analysis for answering machine or live voice.
