  • Is there a way to create a SyndicationFeed from a String?

    Hi, I'm trying to recreate a SyndicationFeed object (System.ServiceModel.Syndication) from XML data that has been stored locally. If I were working with XMLDocument, this would be easy.I'd call LoadXml(string). The SyndicationFeed will only load from an XMLReader. The XMLReader will only take a Stream or another XMLReader or a TextReader. Since XMLDocument will load a string, I've tried to do this as follows (in the form of a Extension Method): public static SyndicationFeed ToSyndicationFeed(this XmlDocument document) { Stream thestream = Stream.Null; XmlWriter thewriter = XmlWriter.Create(thestream); document.WriteTo(thewriter); thewriter.Flush(); XmlReader thereader = XmlReader.Create(thestream); SyndicationFeed thefeed = SyndicationFeed.Load(thereader); return thefeed; } I can't get this to work. The Stream is always empty even though the XMLDocument is populated with the Feed to be loaded into the SyndicationFeed. Any help or pointers you can give would be most helpful. Thanks, Roberto

  • How to correctly use ABPersonViewController with ABPeoplePickerNavigationController to view Contact

    I'm attempting to add a feature to my app that allows the user to select a contact from an ABPeoplePickerNavigationController, which then displays an ABPersonViewController corresponding to the contact they picked. At that point, I want the user to be able to click on a contact's phone number and have my app respond with custom behavior. I've got the ABPeoplePickerNavigationController working fine, but I'm running into a problem displaying the ABPersonViewController. I can get the ABPersonViewController to animate onto the screen just fine, but it only displays the contact's photo, name, and company name. None of the contact's other fields are displayed. I'm using the 'displayedProperties' element in the ABPersonViewController to tell the program to display phone numbers. This creates some strange behavior; when I select a contact that has no phone numbers assigned, the contact shows up with "No Phone Numbers" written in the background (as you'd expect), but when selecting a contact that does have a phone number, all I get is a blank contact page (without the "No Phone Numbers" text).     Hi all! Do you have any idea how to covert different Unicode characters to their closest ASCII equivalents? Like Ä - A. A googled but didn't find any suitable solution. Trick Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("Ä")[0] didn't work. (Result was ?). I found that there is class Encoder that has Fallback property that is exactly for cases when char can't be converted, but implementations (EncoderReplacementFallback) are stupid and convert to ?.   • .net Listview control will only display largeIcon.

    I'm using the RC of visual Studio 2010. Writing a .net 3.5 application. When I launch the app, the listview control only shows in LargeIcon view. This is not the view I want. I've set the View property in the designer with no success. I've even tried to explicitly set the view during runtime lvAvailableItems.View = View.Tile; Has anyone else had this issue, and if so what was your workaround.

  • spring mvc 3.0 small web application not quite working

    Hi, i'm creating a very simple (hello World quality) web application using spring mvc 3.0. when deploying the application on tomcat 6.0.26 and i try to open http://localhost:8080/protoweb/helloWorld.html i get 404, resource /protoweb/WEB-INF/jsp/helloWorld.jsp is not available.     You know in MS Word, you can write text and draw&put shapes anywhere you want.. in the text when you hit enter and get to a new line, the shapes below your cursor also moves down one line? I want to implement that property in Java on a pane, using components as the shapes and text. How can I provide absolute positioning for shapes but at the same time preserve the space between them? I'll appreciate any idea, cause I'm almost out of ideas.

But when I publish and host it on IIS, it's not working properly. However, I tested the webservice method directly by typing the URL and it gave the desired output. Is their a special setting needs to be done in IIS to make it working or any property of AutoCompleteExtender need to be set?

    I'm new to Pascal and FastReport. This question can probably be answered without knowledge of FastReport. Pascal is Delphi. FastReport4. I have a text box accepting an 8 character string as input. Each character should be numeric. I'm attempting to validate each character as numeric. I've tried using the val function... Procedure Val(S : String; var R: Real; Code : Integer); begin end; procedure thisinputOnChange(Sender: TfrxComponent); var S : String; error : Integer; R : Real; begin S := thisinput.lines.text; Val (S, R, error); If error > 0 then Button2.enabled := False; end; I got this code online. The explanation says that the function will return an error with a code greater than zero if the character cannot be converted to an integer. Is that explanation correct? Am I misinterpreting? Right now I am trying to set a button's enabled property to false if the validation fails. I might change that to a message. For now, I would like to get it to work by setting the button property. I'm not sure if I should be using the onChange event or another event. I'm also not sure if I need to send the input to the val function in a loop. Like I said, I'm just learning how to use this function. I am able to validate the length.   • Switching between iScroll and standard WebView Scrolling functionality

    I'm using iScroll 4 for my rather heavy iPhone web/Phonegap app and trying to find a way to switch between iScrolls scrolling functionality and standard "native" webview scrolling, basically on click. Why I want this is described below. My app has several different subpages all in one file. Some subpages have input fields, some don't. As we all know, iScroll + input fields = you're out of luck. I've wrapped iScrolls wrapper div (and all its functionality) around the one sub page where scrolling is crucial, and where there are no input fields. The other sections, I've simply placed outside this div, which gives these no scrolling functionality at all. I've of course tried wrapping all inside the wrapper and enabling/disabling scroll (shown below) but that didn't work me at all: myScroll.disable() myScroll.enable() By placing some sub pages outside the main scrolling area / iscroll div, I've disabled both iScrolls and the standard webview scrolling (the latter - which i guess iScroll does) which leaves me with only basic basic scrolling, hence basically no scrolling at all. One can move around vertically, but once you let go of the screen with, the "scrolling" stops. Quite naturally but alas so nasty. Therefore, I'm searching for a way to enable standard webview scrolling on the sub pages placed outside of iScroll's wrapper div. I've tried different approaches such as the one above and by using: document.removeEventListener('touchmove', preventDefault, false); document.removeEventListener('touchmove', preventDefault, true); But with no success. Sorry for not providing you guys with any hard code or demos to test out for yourselves, it's simply too much code and it would be presented so out of its context, nobody would be able to debug it. So, is there a way n javascript to do this, switching between iScroll scrolling functionality and standard "native" webview scrolling? I would rather not rebuild the entire DOM framework so a solution like the one described above would be preferable.

    Hi to all, I'm loading a page containing a GMaps using the ajax() method of jQuery. The HTML page i'm loading is: <script src="http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&amp;v=2&amp;sensor=false&amp;key=MY_API_KEY" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) { var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map_canvas")); var geocoder = new GClientGeocoder(); geocoder.getLatLng("San Francisco, California",function(point) { if (point) { map.setCenter(point, 7); } }); map.setUIToDefault(); } }); </script> <div id="map_canvas"></div> After retrieving this page, I'm setting its contents to a div using the html() method. The map is not showed, while other pages containing scripts, loaded in the same way, are correctly shown. Is this a specific issue about GMaps, that doesn't allow to be loaded via an ajax request?
