• Loading HTML5 video on iPad via onclick event tied to a div

  I'm developing an HTML5 application (a game), that automatically preloads 5 video files. I'm able to do so correctly on Safari for PC, so there are no overlooked problems with file formats, codecs or such. The load fails on an iPad. As an official guide for video on iOS puts it: This means the JavaScript play() and load() methods are also inactive until the user initiates playback, unless the play() or load() method is triggered by user action. In other words, a user-initiated Play button works, but an onLoad="play()" event does not. Does this mean, that I have no means to initiate the loading of video after a user initiated action, if that action hasn't been tied to a video element (user clicked on a regular div — I request loading and displaying of a video, compared to the user actually clicking on a video element to load and play that particular element)? • How to speed up my websites (backoffices)

  Hello im developing some backends in ASP.NET 2.0 and i have put all the images in Cache, GZIPED my CSS, JS files and everything to speedup the load of each options. the performance its good and i have no problems with the clients but i want "MORE" fast loads and im looking for some recomendations. Is important to mention that those websites are using only in intranets so im thinking to implement my next projects using IFRAME for content that way (i think) the options will be loading faster because they not have to load the entire site. any help / recomendations? thanks in advance.

• Xcode debugger showing assembler for nested classes in a static library

  I have a project A which creates a static library. I have a project B which uses this library. When I am debugging project B, certain functions within project A will display assembler when stepped into or when a breakpoint set inside them is hit. In the debug navigator, the line containing the function is grey instead of black. The strange part is that other functions in the same source file have no problems displaying. The thing that all these functions seem to have in common is that they belong to nested classes. However, I'm not totally convinced that this is the issue since functions from other nested classes display correctly. Does anyone know the cause of this?

• how to protect an imported win32 dll into a .net application from memory issues

  I have a c# application that needs to use a legacy win32 dll. The dll is almost its own app, it has dialogs, operations with hardware, etc. When this dll is imported and used, there are a couple of problems that occur: Dragging a dialog (not a windows system dialog, but one created by the dll) across the managed code app causes the UI to not repaint. Further it generates a system out of memory exception from various ui controls. The performance is incredibly slow. There seems to be no way to unload the dll so the memory never gets cleaned up. When we close our managed app, we get another memory exception. • Wicket and a rich ajax website: easiest way to do it?

  I want to use Wicket to build an application, but I have some designers that would like to write/maintain the javascript, and they basically expect 1 JS-segment per page, and a global JS-file. I think the most natural way to add javascript in wicket is to add it per component (not per page), which would create problems for those designers (fractioned javascript, and having to write it in java-files). Is there a better way to solve this? (of course, I expect things to work after a partial refresh.) And a second (related) thing they'd like (and I'd like actually) is the possibility to request information in JSON-format through a static link , is this possible in Wicket?

What are the difficulties, if any, when one needs to adapt to a newer version of these open source projects? Can you list out the things which are generally stored/kept in memcached for fast rendering of the page?   I have a form and I must notice user with alert() on exiting page while there are data in the form that had not been send. I've read that opera has a lot of problems with this. Opera 11 that is, because I need take into account only last version. So again, the alert should display on refresh, closing a tab, or closing whole browser. It would be nice to set event directly to the <form> element that would be launched on anything that leads to destroying this element.

• Altering IFrame src content

  I dont believe this can be done, but is it possible to alter the content of an iframe that is rendered via a src. The 3rd party compiled ASP.Net control (Telerik RadEditor .Net 2 version) I use has an iframe in part of its rendered code and does not contain a doctype and it is causing problems in IE8 with certain elements. As it is compiled, I can not add it in the source. I was wondering if it is possible to add it in another way? I have tried multiple things in jquery such as: $(element).html().prepend("doc type here"); $(element).html("doctype here" + $(element).html()); and all other kinds of dodgy work.

• SQL Server Mapping a user to a login and adding roles programmatically

  In my SQL Server 2005 server I create databases and logins using Management Studio. My application requires that I give a newly created user read and write permissions to another database. To do this I right-click the newly created login, select properties and go to User Mapping. I put a check beside the database to map this login to the db and select db_datareader and db_datawriter as the roles to map. Can this be done programmatically? I've read about using Alter User and sp_change_users_login but I'm having problems getting these to work, since sp_change_users_login has been deprecated so I'd prefer to use Alter User. Please note my understanding of SQL Server database users/logins/roles is basic

  I'm looking for a few recursive function examples, preferably ones that show increase in complexity. I understand basic recursive functions, but I'm having trouble implementing them in my code. I've never used them in my code before, and I know it doesn't always call for it, but I'd like to try. Is there a good resource with examples, and maybe challenges of some sort? Or even some simple math problems (Project Euler-style?) that I could use recursion on? For examples, I prefer C#, but anything works.

  Hello, How can it be done in most simply way to write (or maybe there is something embedded in haskell) function which takse as arguments list of tuples (String, Int) and Int x and return top x tuples as list according to x value. I wonder if its possible to write a function which also takes 3 argument which is the name of (or index) of filed in tuple according to which sorting has to be done. • Can I prevent a user from using windows task manager to end a process?

  I have a c# 4.0 application that I hear grumblings and rumors about problems with. Now, this application has a global unhandled exception handler that reports back to me with errors. I also know that it works because SOME people fill it in, and submit it. It seems though; that a large number of people do NOT fill it in, but instead, use the Windows Taskmanager to end the process. Is it possible to prevent a user from using the Windows Taskmanager to end a specific process? My goal would be that if the application crashes, the form that the user is presented with prevents the process from being ended. I'll also accept steps that would prevent the Windows Taskmanager from being launched. I know I have seen some processes come up with an "Access Denied" prompt when I try to kill it in TaskManager, however I suspect that the windows team has made this very difficult, if not impossible to achieve.

• Installing sqlite on windows xp for ruby on rails?

  I've been trying to follow this guide to installing ruby and rails on my new machine. I'm having problems, however, when it comes to the sqlite gem. I installed the gem, which seemed to work perfectly. Then, however, it tells me to download a zip file from http://www.sqlite.org/sqlitedll-3_7_3.zip. When I do, the file is downloaded, but it doesn't seem to be a zip file. It has the icon of a microsoft word file, and clicking on it opens up Word but the file isn't opened, it just shows error messages. There is no option to extract the file, which is what the guide says to do. Is this a problem with sqlite or my machine? Any help would be appreciated.

• Secure to store an ID in an ASP.NET control ID?

  I'm auto-generating a form in my ASP.NET page. This is already tested and working. I want to know if: If there are any security problems with storing the database ID as part of my controls ID? I can see think of 2 issues: the id will be visible in page source (not really important in this case), and the possibility someone could change the name of the control somehow? This second possibility is more serious. Is this a potential problem and how to void it? If there would be a better preferred way to associate a unique data with any type of control? Is it possible to store a custom item in the viewstate for the control?

• Is there a way to determine gaps in try/catch coverage?

  I'm debugging a service that's experiencing some problems on start-up. To aid me in this, I'm wrapping pretty much everything in a try/catch block, and writing any errors to a file. I don't want to put them in every method, I just want to put them in the highest level methods so that they catch exceptions from other methods. Something is getting through, though, as the service does stop under some conditions. Is there a way to determine where the gaps in my try/catch coverage are, other than by sight?

  While writing a function which will perform some operation with each number in a range I ran into some problems with floating point inaccuracies. I need to add new files to download dynamically, so something that only get initialized with urls at the beginning won't help me much. Any help would be greatly appreciated. • Looking for a managed image parser library (JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF)

  I am writing a discussion board software that will have "avatar" images for the users. I want to resize any picture that gets uploaded to a reasonable size. I could easily do that with System.Drawing but that is relying on GDI+ which has hat security problems before. The problem is that the images are untrusted. So I thought of using a fully managed lib to solve that problem because managed code cannot escape the sandbox (of course it can, but only if the code is user-supplied which it is not in my case). So does anybody know of a managed image parser library for JPEG, BMP, PNG and GIF? If some format is missing than I will have to live with that. Edit: Paint.NET also relies on GDI+. You might be interested in the discussion below, too.

  In my winform app in VB.NET i want to use the localization option. But i have a few questions/problems. I'm using a menu strip to select an other language. But it seems that is doesn't change my menustip text to my selected language. It does change my labels, buttons, and textboxes but menu strips doesnt seem to change when i choose an other language. Also is it possible to get those resx files such as MyForm.fr-FR.resx compiled so it isn't an external file outside my app? Or to get those files in an Language folder at the same location of my app, so i don't have all those fr-FR, nl-Nl folders in the same location as my program.

• .NET Publishing files but allowing them to be edited?

  I had media files require in the project so i did this + set built action to content Now here are my problems I would like my app to check for .NET and to check for other installs which is fine now that i made a prerequisite I would like to copy media files when i publish One of these files is a config file i like the user to edit Problem is after doing 1 which gives me a publish folder with a setup.exe + files i have no idea where my installed files are and if i modify the file.ext.deploy i get an error about the hash of the file modified. Is there a way i can have plain non deploy files or distribute the bin/release folder as i normally do but add something to check my prerequisite?

• What was the motivation for adding the IPV6_V6ONLY flag?

  In IPv6 networking, the IPV6_V6ONLY flag is used to ensure that a socket will only use IPv6, and in particular that IPv4-to-IPv6 mapping won't be used for that socket. On many OS's, the IPV6_V6ONLY is not set by default, but on some OS's (e.g. Windows 7), it is set by default. My question is: What was the motivation for introducing this flag? Is there something about IPv4-to-IPv6 mapping that was causing problems, and thus people needed a way to disable it? It would seem to me that if someone didn't want to use IPv4-to-IPv6 mapping, they could simply not specify a IPv4-mapped IPv6 address. What am I missing here?
