• Weird problems with ruby servers on Ubuntu 9.10

  So I'm using Ubuntu 9.10, trying to setup and deploy my app, but for some reason, whenever I try and boot up thin, it tells me it can't find rails, script/console, however, works fine. Heck, even script/server works fine as long as I don't try and daemonize it, then it just fails without any errors. Any ideas on what the hell is going on? I'm using rvm with the default ubuntu ruby as my system ruby. I have set REE as the default ruby though. This was still happening back when I had only REE installed via their installer script too.

• Ctypes pro and con

  I have heard that Ctypes can cause crashes (or stop errors) in Python and windows. Should I stay away from their use? Where did I hear? It was back when I tried to control various aspects of windows, automation, that sort of thing. I hear of swig, but I see Ctypes more often than not. Any danger here? If so, what should I watch out for? I did search for ctype pro con python.

• VS2008 CR report viewer. Print and Export to PDF is not working

  I've a web project in VS2008. The problem is that from a web report viewer; report is not getting printed or exported to pdf. Report is being shown alright but when print button or export button is pressed, nothing happens. No errors or crash. Just nothing got happened. Default printer is set alright and I am able to print from that machine.. Am I missing some thing here??? Earlier when I installed the application in a new virtual directory report was not getting shown then I've copied aspnet_Client folder in my newly created web application root and the report was then made visible. However the print and export functionality is not working.

• Undefined reference to cmph functions even after installing cpmh library

  I am using gcc 4.4.3 on ubuntu. I installed cmph library tools 0.9-1 using command sudo apt-get install libcmph-tools Now, when I tried to compile example program vector_adapter_ex1.c , gcc is able to detect cmph.h library in its include file but is showing multiple errors like vector_adapter_ex1.c:(.text+0x93): undefined reference to cmph_io_vector_adapter' vector_adapter_ex1.c:(.text+0xa3): undefined reference tocmph_config_new' vector_adapter_ex1.c:(.text+0xbb): undefined reference to cmph_config_set_algo' vector_adapter_ex1.c:(.text+0xcf): undefined reference tocmph_config_set_mphf_fd' even though, these are all defined in the source code of the cmph library. Could anyone tell the error that might have occurred or suggest an alternate method to go about building minimal perfect hash functions.

• Apache ErrorDocument not working for PHP 500 error

  I have a number of ErrorDocuments setup in my .htaccess file for errors such as 404, 401, 403 etc which all redirect to my error page but the ErrorDocument set for a 500 error is never displayed when PHP reports a 500. The 500 code is sent to the browser and the output is blank. Is there something special I need to do to enable 500 error documents for use with PHP? My directives look like this: ErrorDocument 401 /errorpage.php?error=401 ErrorDocument 403 /errorpage.php?error=403 ErrorDocument 404 /errorpage.php?error=404 ErrorDocument 500 /errorpage.php?error=500 I've looked through the php.ini and can't see anything that would obviously override the Apache settings and there are no ErrorDocument directives in my httpd.conf either. Anywhere else I should be looking? Thanks in advance.

• Eclipse + Git: Can't add files to my repository

  I use Eclipse (Helios) with PDT and egit. I have a project without versioning, so I created a git repository for it by doing: Team -> Share Project When I try to add the files of my project to the repository: Team -> Add I get an exception: Failed to add resource to index Failed to add resource to index Exception caught during execution of add command When I add the files manually on the command line, everything is working fine. Any ideas?   When using mpirun, is it possible to catch signals (for example, the SIGINT generated by ^C) in the code being run? For example, I'm running a parallelized python code. I can except KeyboardInterrupt to catch those errors when running python blah.py by itself, but I can't when doing mpirun -np 1 python blah.py. Does anyone have a suggestion? Even finding how to catch signals in a C or C++ compiled program would be a helpful start. If I send a signal to the spawned Python processes, they can handle the signals properly; however, signals sent to the parent orterun process (i.e. from exceeding wall time on a cluster, or pressing control-C in a terminal) will kill everything immediately.

• Dynamic query runs directly but not through variable, what could be the reason?

  Here is my scenario, I'm creating a dynamic query using a select statement which uses functions to generate the query. I am storing it into a variable and running it using exec. i.e. declare @dsql nvarchar(max) set @dsql = '' select @dsql = @dsql + dbo.getDynmicQuery(column1, column2) from Table1 exec(@dsql) Now it produces the many errors in this scenario, like 'Incorrect syntax near ','' and 'Case expressions may only be nested to level 10.' But if i take the text from @dsql and assign it a variable manually like: declare @dsql nvarchar(max) set @dsql = '' set @dsql = N'<Dynamic query text>' exec(@dsql) it runs and generates the result, what could be the reason for that ?? • ANTLR JavaScript Target

  Hello, I have been using ANTLR to generate a parser + tree grammar for a mark up language with Java target which works fine. Now I am trying to get the target in JavaScript to use it in my web browser. However, I have not been able to locate any good documentation on how to go about doing this. I am using eclipse with ANTLR IDE, and when i specify the language as JavaScript, I get the following errors. Multiple markers at this line (10): internal error: group JavaScript does not satisfy interface ANTLRCore: mismatched arguments on these templates [treeParser(grammar, name, scopes, tokens, tokenNames, globalAction, rules, numRules, bitsets, labelType, ASTLabelType, superClass, members, filterMode)] (10): internal error: java.util.NoSuchElementException: no such attribute: filterMode in template context [treeParser] If anyone could help me out with this or point me to some material which I could read about the JavaScript target with ANTLR, it would be great. • Using a datanase class in my user class?

  In my project I have a database class that I use to handle all the MySQL stuff. It connects to a database, runs queries, catches errors and closes the connection. Now I need to create a members area on my site, and I was going to build a users class that would handle registration, logging in, password/username changes/resets and logging out. In this users class I need to use MySQL for obvious reasons... which is what my database class was made for. But I'm confused as to how I would use my database class in my users class. Would I want to create a new database object for my user class and then have it close whenever a method in that class is finished? Or do I somehow make a 'global' database class that can be used throughout my entire script (if this is the case I need help with that, no idea what to do there.) • Using reflection to change static final File.separatorChar for unit testing?

  Specifically, I'm trying to create a unit test for a method which requires uses File.separatorChar to build paths on windows and unix. The code must run on both platforms, and yet I get errors with JUnit when I attempt to change this static final field. Anyone have any idea what's going on? Field field = java.io.File.class.getDeclaredField( "separatorChar" ); field.setAccessible(true); field.setChar(java.io.File.class,'/'); When I do this, I get IllegalAccessException: Can not set static final char field java.io.File.separatorChar to java.lang.Character Thoughts?

• .NET Framework 4 RTM on Windows server 2008 R2

  I've just installed .NET 4 on Windows SErver 2008 R2 x64 and I am getting 500 Internal Server Error with an ASP.NET MVC application which was previously running fine on 3.5. The application was upgraded from targeting 3.5 to target 4 and I personally built it today on my development machine (changed in VS - Properties to .NET Framework 4). On the server I installed .NET Framework 4 Client profile and Full both automatically through the Web Platform Installer. ASP.NET MVC 2 was also installed through Platform Installer. I created a new .NET 4 application pool in IIS and placed the web app in it. Also I have custom errors turned Off in web.config but even so no detailed error is displayed - just the plain IIS 7.5 500 Internal Server Error. Any suggestions?

  I have warnings in binding xml files: No grammar constraints (DTD or XML schema) detected for the document. I have done as is written in the answer here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/982263/jibx-how-do-i-keep-using-interfaces-in-my-code (answer which is not accepted). But now I have an error in binding xml file: Referenced file contains errors (file:/C:/Amplio/LiveCliq/Work/core/src/main/resources/config/rest/ mappings/binding.dtd). For more information, right click on the message in the Problems View and select "Show Details..." And the details are: The markup in the document preceding the root element must be well-formed. line 20 I am not familiar with DTD schemas, so I don't know what is the problem. Did anybody found the solution? And - I do not want to turn off validation in XML files, I would like to have this in binding files (mainly for code assist and validation).

• Always importing too many classes... I think!

  I have a basic problem with knowing which classes to import for a given application, renderer, AS package, mxml component, etc. There seems to be hundreds of classes (both mx and flash) and I'm never sure which one(s) to import... so I just keep adding import statements until the errors go away. Is there a reference somewhere that I don't know about? Or does this just come with experience? Also... does importing a load of classes actually make the file size larger or does Flex only import the classes used nregardless of what I specify? If it only uses what is needed, why wouldn't everyone just do: import mx.*;

• Error in retrieving data from Excel File

  I have an excel file. I wanted to pull the data from excel file to SQL Server table. And the data is successfully transferred.In the excel file, I removed a text from one column named "Risk" from one row.The text was lengthy one.now the package execution fails at the source ie from the excel file. The errors are shown as "[Audit [1]] Error: There was an error with output column "Risk" (100) on output "Excel Source Output" (9). The column status returned was: "DBSTATUS_UNAVAILABLE"." and "[Audit [1]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_INDUCEDTRANSFORMFAILUREONERROR. The "output column "Risk" (100)" failed because error code 0xC0209071 occurred, and the error row disposition on "output column "Risk" (100)" specifies failure on error. An error occurred on the specified object of the specified component. There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure." the error occurs only when I remove this particular text from this row.

• cloned project from github. heroku does not work

  I cloned a project from github over to my desktop. I used to work on it form my laptop. However, on laptop heroku does not seem to work for this app eventhough i have it installed. First problem: heroku open >No app specified. >Run this command from app folder or set it adding --app <app name> I did not have to specify the --app on my laptop. Because I guess I did command heroku create initially on the lapop. Second Probelm: git push heroku master gives errors fatal: 'heroku' does not appear to be a git repository fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly and heroku list says ! This version of the heroku gem has been deprecated. ! Please update it by running: gem update heroku
