• Virtual dedicated surver repetitive draining RAM, OOM constantly

  My linux (fedora red hat 7) virtual dedicated server has been experiencing OOM multiple times a day for the past several days. I thought the issue was with spamd/spamassassin but after disabling this the errors remains.   We're using Visual Studio Database Edition (DBPro) to manage our schema. This is a great tool that, among the many things it can do, can analyse our schema and T-SQL code based on rules (much like what FxCop does with C# code), and flag certain things as warnings and errors. Some example rules might be that every table must have a primary key, no underscore's in column names, every stored procedure must have comments etc. The number of rules built into DBPro is fairly small, and a bit odd. Fortunately DBPro has an API that allows the developer to create their own. I'm curious as to the types of rules you and your DB team would create (both schema rules and T-SQL rules). Looking at some of your rules might help us decide what we should consider. Thanks - Randy

• Overriding classes/functions from a .dll.

  Say I have class A and class B. B inherits from class A, and implements a few virtual functions. The only problem is that B is defined in a .dll. Right now, I have a function that returns an instance of class A, but it retrieves that from a static function in the .dll that returns an instance of class B. My plan is to call the created object, and hopefully, have the functions in the .dll executed instead of the functions defined in class A. For some reason, I keep getting restricted memory access errors. Is there something I don't understand that will keep this plan from working?

  Hi folks, long night... can't get my second Celery/RabbitMQ setup run to work. step 1 sudo rabbitmq-server runs: ok! step 2 python manage.py celeryd -l info error: [2010-12-28 03:38:24,690: ERROR/MainProcess] CarrotListener: Connection Error: Socket closed. Trying again in 28 seconds... I have definitely: added rabbitmq user and vhost updated the Django setings.py Edit: I think it might have to with installing from a .deb instead of apt-get. After uninstalling the deb and installing the apt-get version I get this: invoke-rc.d: initscript rabbitmq-server, action "start" failed. dpkg: error processing rabbitmq-server (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: rabbitmq-server E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) Any ideas on how I could debug this? :|

  Hi, Spring mvc is a framework that has been long time out there, it is well documented and proven technology. A lot of web sites are using spring. Seam is a framework based on jsf - rich faces implementation. It has a lot of ajax based components. It uses some heavy stuff like EJB, JPA. All of this is prone to errors and this framework is so slow (at my computer it is almost impossible do develop something because it is really slow, especially redeploying on jboss) But is is very good for back office applications. Does someone have a professional experience with this two frameworks? Can you recommend the better one ? Why? Regards

• Exclude a URL from rewrite in .htaccess with "last" flag

  WordPress has been installed as a blog into osCommerce. I'm trying to get the WordPress RSS feed to work. All WP core files exist, but I get all kinds of errors accessing the feed at mydomain.com/wordpress/feed/, like 404s, "the feed can't be updated because the source file is no longer available," or even raw php code in the browser from the osCommerce feed file. I think the problem is the rewrite rules for osCommerce, and I'm thinking if I can exclude the WP feed URL from rewrite, it will fix the feed or help find the real issue. Looking around SO, I found a solution to use the "last" flag on a URL to prevent it from being rewritten. Problem is, the existing .htaccess already has a rule with a "last" flag on it: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ http://www.mydomain.com/index.php?cPath=$1 [L] Is there a way to not rewrite the WP feed URL? Can another "last" rule be added? I'd like to have some definite things to try before messing with .htaccess to avoid disrupting the site.

  Afternoon all, I really need your help as this is a Nightmare! I was earlier having a problem with referencing a 3rd Party Dll (Here) but have overcome this problem and am now having a problem referencing my own classes! Everything seems fine at build with no errors at all but when I go to run the application it comes up with the following Compilation Error: Compiler Error Message: CS0234: The type or namespace name 'Secure' does not exist in the namespace 'source_extranet' (are you missing an assembly reference?) The line that the Error points to this line in the class: source_extranet.Secure.BackendCustomData newdata = new source_extranet.Secure.BackendCustomData(); This line of code points to a class in the same folder as the calling code class. I have scoured Google looking for an answer and haven't found anything that points me to an answer to my problem. Any help would be AMAZING!

  I have a HTTPService in my Flex 4 app that I call like this: getUserDetails.send(userLookup.text); In my Ruby on Rails method that this is linked to, how do I refer to the userLookup.text parameter? • Adding js to a drupal node form

  In Drupal you can create your own nodetype in a custom module. Doing this you get to create your own form which is all very nice. However if you want to add js the form things get a bit more tricky. If you add the js in the form, the js will only be added form the form when it is loaded. If the user would post the form with validation errors, the form function is not run again and thus the js is not added. Normally you would just create a menu callback and add the js there, but for the node add form, this wont be a possible solution. So what is the best solution for adding js in a node add form, to keep it persistant when the form doesn't validate?

• SQL Server Process Queue Race Condition

  I have an order queue that is accessed by multiple order processors through a stored procedure. Each processor passes in a unique ID which is used to lock the next 20 orders for its own use. The stored procedure then returns these records to the order processor to be acted upon. There are cases where multiple processors are able to retrieve the same 'OrderTable' record at which point they try to simultaneously operate on it. This ultimately results in errors being thrown later in the process. My next course of action is to allow each processor grab all available orders and just round robin the processors but I was hoping to simply make this section of code thread safe and allow the processors to grab records whenever they like. So Explicitly - Any idea why I am experiencing this race condition and how I can solve the problem. • C++ linking issue on Visual Studio 2008 when crosslinking different projects on same solution

  I'm using Google Test Framework to set some unit tests. I have got three projects in my solution: FN (my project) FN_test (my tests) gtest (Google Test Framework) I set FN_test to have FN and gtest as references (dependencies), and then I think I'm ready to set up my tests (I've already set everyone to /MTd (not doing this was leading me to linking errors before)). Particularly, I define a class called Embark in FN I would like to test using FN_test. So far, so good. Thus I write a classe called EmbarkTest using googletest, declare a member Embark* and write inside the constructor: EmbarkTest() { e = new Embark(900,2010); } Then , F7 pressed, I get the following: 1>FN_test.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: __thiscall Embark::Embark(int,int)" (??0Embark@@QAE@HH@Z) referenced in function "protected: __thiscall EmbarkTest::EmbarkTest(void)" (??0EmbarkTest@@IAE@XZ) 1>D:\Users\lg\Product\code\FN\Debug\FN_test.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals Does someone know what have I done wrong and/or what can I do to settle this?

• ExpressionEngine: Why is this {exp:query} tag producing an error?

  Hi. I have this code in place to pull some relation data from the database based on a ID of another weblog entry. The relationship custom field would not work for my situation. I have tested the SQL with MySQL and get no errors. But I get an error when I pull up the page. {exp:query sql="SELECT entry_id,field_id_16,field_id_19 FROM exp_weblog_data WHERE field_id_15='2' AND weblog_id='6'"} Also, I want to populate the “field_id_15” from the url. I have tried using the “segment_*” tag, but nothing. Maybe it is something else. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Josh

  I am running the following command on unix box. java -Xms3800m -Xmx3800m org.apache.xalan.xslt.Process -out Cust.txt -in test13l.xml -xsl CustDetails.xsl It is a java command, which calls Xalan processor to parse through the xml file (test131.xml) using the xsl stylesheet (CustDetails.xsl) and returns Cust.txt. The command works fine and the output is generated. It takes 12 minutes to process an xml file size of 1.1 GB. It takes 22 minutes to process a file size of 1.44 GB. However, when I try to process a file size of 1.66 GB, it errors out with the following message: (Location of error unknown)XSLT Error (java.lang.OutOfMemoryError): null I have increased the java heap size to 3800 not sure what I can do more. What i want to do is ignore the blank ones, I find this harder to sort through in the update controller than a non nested attribute. What i have temporarily is a hack in the after_save callback deleting the empty records. Whats the most rails way to ignore these blank objects? I dont want validation and errors, just a silent deletion/ignore.

• How can I stop sorl thumbnail from breaking with very long filenames?

  I've noticed that when working with SORL thumbnail, sometimes a user will upload an image with a very long filename, longer than the varfield in the database can hold. The name gets truncated in the database and the project gives errors whenever the image is requested. Is there a smart and safe way to have django automatically truncate long filenames in sorl uploads (prior to saving them in the database) to prevent this sort of thing? • Node.js vs PHP processing speed

  I've been looking into node.js recently and wanted to see a true comparison of processing speed for PHP vs Node.js. In most of the comparisons I had seen, Node trounced Apache/PHP set ups handily. However all of the tests were small 'hello worlds' that would not accurately reflect any webpage's markup. So I decided to create a basic HTML page with 10,000 hello world paragraph elements. In these tests Node with Cluster was beaten to a pulp by PHP on Nginx utilizing PHP-FPM. So I'm curious if I am misusing Node somehow or if Node is really just this bad at processing power. Note that my results were equivalent outputting "Hello world\n" with text/plain as the HTML, but I only included the HTML as it's closer to the use case I was investigating. I certainly think Node has a real niche that it could fit well, however with these test results (which I really hope I made a mistake with - as I like the idea of Node) lead me to believe that it is a horrible choice for even a modest processing load when compared to PHP (let alone JVM or various other fast solutions). As a final note, I also tried running an Apache Bench test against node with $ ab -n 20 -c 20 http://speedtest.dev/ and consistently received a total test time of greater than 0.900 seconds.

• Why am I getting 404 in Django?

  After installing this python Django module: http://code.google.com/p/django-compress/wiki/Installation I am getting 404's in my media static files. This Django module is supposed to "compress" the javascript/css files. That's why I'm getting 404 I guess. The problem is, I don't want this anymore. And when I installed this program, I did "python setup.py install" How do I install it? I just want to revert it back to normal so I don't get any 404 errors.

  Hello everyone! I'm trying to create annual, all-day events with VBA in outlook 2007. I use the following code, but no matter which conbination of Start, StartDate, End, etc I use, it won't create a whole-day event. Either it gives it default start/end times, or it remove the all-day attribute... Dim Birthday As Date 'Get the birthday '... Dim BDay As AppointmentItem Dim Pattern As Outlook.RecurrencePattern Set BDay = Application.CreateItem(olAppointmentItem) Set Pattern = BDay.GetRecurrencePattern Pattern.RecurrenceType = olRecursYearly Pattern.DayOfMonth = Day(Birthday) Pattern.MonthOfYear = Month(Birthday) Pattern.PatternStartDate = Birthday Pattern.NoEndDate = True BDay.AllDayEvent = True BDay.Subject = Contact.FullName BDay.Save When created directly in outlook, entries start on the birth day and end 24 hours later. Yet trying to set Start and End this way results in errors. Plus, entries created outlook have no start/end time in the recurrence pattern (well, they are all-day entries...) Ideas, anybody? Thanks!

  Hi, I am trying to create a Custom QGraphicsItem button as shown by Fred here. The code which he posted can be found here. The problem is when I try and compile the code I get the following two errors: /usr/include/qt4/QtGui/qgraphicsitem.h ‘QGraphicsItem::QGraphicsItem(const QGraphicsItem&)’ is private /usr/include/qt4/QtCore/qobject.h ‘QObject::QObject(const QObject&)’ is private Here is the code snippet which essentially is the same as that in the sample above. The error is on the class deceleration. class MyButton : public QObject, public QGraphicsItem { Q_OBJECT Q_INTERFACES(QGraphicsItem) public: MyButton(QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); MyButton(const QString normal, const QString pressed = "", QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); .... } Interestingly the other sample as shown here works fine.
