• applet does not load

  We have a legacy program that was ported from Java 1.3 to Java 1.5. This application involves applets which worked fine before. After porting however, the applet would not load. However there are no errors or exceptions. The app would just try to load it forever. We tried to run it with Java 1.6 and poof! No problems whatsoever. Isn't Java 6 backwards compatible?   We are calling a .NET web service from our oracle database using the sys.utl_http package. We have also tested with the sys.utl_dbws package. This works fine when there is no security on the .NET web service. However, we would like to use sys.utl_http or sys.utl_dbws to call a .NET web service with Kerberos or NTLM authentication. We're currently struggling with this. Any hints on how to solve it?

  Good day gurus, I have a script that populates tables on a regular basis that crashed and gave the above error. The strange thing is that it has been running for close to 3 months on the production system with no problems and suddenly crashed last week. There has not been any changes on the tables as far as I know. Has anyone encountered something like this before?   I'm using Application Express 4.0.0.00.25 ( Apex 4.0 EA2 ). I've created a tabular form, with few fields. Each of the field are not direct entry, but rather a LOV picker is attached to these, and on selecting the LOV value, the id gets stored in the field. I have a dynamic action associated to the field, ( event - change in item, condition - always, action - Set value via SQL query ). However, on selecting the value from the LOV, the dynamic action doesn't get triggered. If I select the dynamic action to be fired on page load, then it works but not upon selection of an item from the LOV. Why is this so, is it by design or a bug ?

  Is there a way to display the output of a sqlplus command without having to first issue the spool off command? I am spooling the results of a sqlplus session to a file while at the same time tailing the file. The reason for this is that for table with very long rows the format is easier to look at from a file. The problem is to see the output i have to issue the spool off command everytime i run a command in sqlplus. Can i configure sqlplus so that after i have issued the spool command all the output is viewable straight away on the file. (Formating the way the rows are displayed on the screen is not an option. ) THanks

• vSphere ESX 5.5 hosts cannot connect to NFS Server

  Summary: My problem is I cannot use the QNAP NFS Server as an NFS datastore from my ESX hosts despite the hosts being able to ping it. I'm utilising a vDS with LACP uplinks for all my network traffic (including NFS) and a subnet for each vmkernel adapter. Setup: I'm evaluating vSphere and I've got two vSphere ESX 5.5 hosts (node1 and node2) and each one has 4x NICs. I've teamed them all up using LACP/802.3ad with my switch and then created a distributed switch between the two hosts with each host's LAG as the uplink. All my networking is going through the distributed switch, ideally, I want to take advantage of DRS and the redundancy. I have a domain controller VM ("Central") and vCenter VM ("vCenter") running on node1 (using node1's local datastore) with both hosts attached to the vCenter instance. Both hosts are in a vCenter datacenter and a cluster with HA and DRS currently disabled. Checked MTU. Set to 9000 for vmk1, dvSwitch and Cisco switch and QNAP. Moved QNAP onto VLAN 11 (VM Management, vmk0) and gave it an appropriate address, still had same issue. Changed back afterwards of course. Tried initiating the connection of NAS datastore from vSphere Client (Connected to vCenter or directly to host), vSphere Web Client and the host's ESX Shell. All resulted in the same problem. Tried a path name of "VM", "/VM" and "/share/VM" despite not even having a connection to server. I plugged in a linux system (10.1.2.123) into a switch port configured for VLAN 12 and tried mounting the NFS share 10.1.2.100:/VM, it worked successfully and I had read-write access to it I tried disabling the firewall on the ESX host esxcli network firewall set --enabled false I'm out of ideas on what to try next. The things I'm doing differently from my VMware Workstation setup is the use of LACP with a physical switch and a virtual distributed switch between the two hosts. I'm guessing the vDS is probably the source of my troubles but I don't know how to fix this problem without eliminating it.

• Public static ip for vagrant box

  I have server (Debian Squeeze) with 1 ethernet card and 2 public static IPs (188.120.245.4 and 188.120.244.5). What I want: Setup virtual box (Ubuntu) with access via static IP (188.120.244.5). What I was trying: config.vm.forward_port - good idea: setup interface "eth1:1" with 188.120.244.5 on host-machine, and add to Vagrant file "config.vm.forward_port = hmm..?" config.vm.network :hostonly, "188.120.244.5" - not working. Was created new interface on host-machine with ip "188.120.244.1". Of course 188.120.244.1 IP isn't mine and I can't access my server via this IP. config.vm.network :bridged - I'm confused how this works :) What I have now: Not working configuration. The rejection destination has records pre-merge, so would currently have to be counted twice and the difference taken, but it seems like there should be a counter exposed, given that it has to be aware of whether it has exceeded the rejection limit.

  Hi everyone, Im looking for the best solution (performance wise) to achieve this. I have to insert records into a table, avoiding duplicates. For example, take table A Insert into A ( Select DISTINCT [FIELDS] from B,C,D.. WHERE (JOIN CONDITIONS ON B,C,D..) AND NOT EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM A ATMP WHERE ATMP.SOMEKEY = A.SOMEKEY ) ); I have an index over A.SOMEKEY, just to optimize the NOT EXISTS query, but i realize that inserting on an indexed table will be a performance hit. So I was thinking of duplicating Table A in a Global Temporary Table, where I would keep the index. Then, removing the index from Table A and executing the query, but modified Insert into A ( Select DISTINCT [FIELDS] from B,C,D.. WHERE (JOIN CONDITIONS ON B,C,D..) AND NOT EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM GLOBAL_TEMPORARY_TABLE_A ATMP WHERE ATMP.SOMEKEY = A.SOMEKEY ) ); This would solve the "inserting on an index table", but I would have to update the Global Temporary A with each insertion I make. I'm kind of lost here, Is there a better way to achieve this? Thanks in advance,

  Hello! we are tying to port a J2EE app from OAS 9.0.4 (working perfectly) on OAS 10.1.3.5 the reson we do that is because we need the app compiled with java 1.5 and OAS 10.1.3.5 would be the single major version supporting that binaries which has oc4j/orion kernel. The issue is that the security constraints in matter of user/group/role are not read by the app server, and instead of asking for these sets of users, i have to use the oc4jadmin instead the selected users for auth. All xml files needed for describing these sets of rules are being checked with the OAS book, and it seems they are correctly filled in... anybody has an idea about this?

• Why is systemd not setting my system time?

  I'm running Arch Linux. Recently, when I turn on my PC, the system time is set to 1:00 1 January 1970 - presumably the 1:00 o'clock is from the timezone shift.   I am using Oracle 10g and am performing the following query: SELECT DUMP('????', 1017) FROM DUAL; This outputs: Typ=96 Len=4 CharacterSet=AL32UTF8: ?,?,?,? Why have the Chinese characters been replaced with question marks? How do I get it to return the correct characters?
