  Yesterday in my interview I was asked this question. (At that time I was highly pressurized by so many abrupt questions). int *p; *p=23; printf('%d',*p); Is there any problem with this code? I explained him that you are trying to assign value to a pointer to whom memory is not allocated. But the way he reacted, it was like I am wrong. Although I got the job but after that he said Mohit think about this question again. I don't know what he was trying to say. Please let me know is there any problem in my answer?

  I have a Microsoft Access database file connected to VB.NET. In the database table, I have a 'No.' and a 'Status' column. Then I have a textbox where I can input an integer. I also have a button, which will change the data cell in 'Status' where 'No.' = textbox.Text(), when I click it. Let's say I want the 'Status' cell to be changed to "Low". • Google chrome, native client support and development

  Hey guys, I would like to write a small C++ app and run it on chrome using the native client API. I have a few questions though: 1) I compiled the examples on Ubuntu and ran the code on firefox but can't run it on chrome (using version 5.0.342.7 beta) Do I need to install something? An extension/plugin? 2) I can't find a single online application I could run? Links anyone, I want to see the power of this thing without having to compile the code locally.   This is maybe a follow up to question about nullable types. Where exactly are nullable value types (int?...) stored in memory? First I thought it's clear enough, as Nullable<T> is struct and those are value types. Then I found Jon Skeet's article "Memory in .NET", which says: Note that a value type variable can never have a value of null - it wouldn't make any sense, as null is a reference type concept, meaning "the value of this reference type variable isn't a reference to any object at all". I am little bit confused after reading this statement. So let's say I have int? a = null;. As int is normally a value type, is it stored somehow inside struct Nullable<T> in stack (I used "normally" because I don't know what happens with value type when it becomes nullable)? Or anything else happens here - perhaps in heap?

• Does UIActivityIndicator require manual threading on iPhone

  I am running creating an iPhone application which performs a costly operation and I wanted to create an activityIndicator to let the user know the application has not frozen. The operation is performed entirely in one event call... so there is no chance for the UI framework to receive control to actually display and animate this indicator. The sample apps which use the UIActivityIndicator (or any other similar animation) start and stop the animation in different events, triggered separately at different stages of the program. Do I need to manually create a separate thread to run my operation in, or is there already default support for this kind of behavior?

• Business Objects Web Intelligence-style reporting in a Winform app. Is this possible?

  I have a WinForm app that displays results in a Gridview control. If a user right mouse clicks on a row, he can then, from a popup menu, select a command to perform on the row much like windows File Explorer. But now I want to be able to give the user the ability to construct a filter so that he can control which rows are displayed in the grid w/o effecting the functionality of the application. I would also like the user to be able to select the columns/fields that he sees in the grid. For the basis of this question, let's assume that the data displayed in grid comes from a single table. business Objects' Web Intelligence and Desktop Intelligence applications give me very flexible and powerful reporting capabilities, but I want to integrate this capability into my WinForm application. Does Business Objects, or maybe Crystal Reports provide this sort of functionality? I can construct my own query builder but I'd rather not reinvent sliced bread.

  Given a vector X of size L, where every scalar element of X is from a binary set {0,1}, it is to find a dot product z=dot(X,Y) if vector Y of size L consists of the integer-valued elements. I suggest, there must exist a very fast way to do it. Let's say we have L=4; X[L]={1, 0, 0, 1}; Y[L]={-4, 2, 1, 0} and we have to find z=X[0]*Y[0] + X[1]*Y[1] + X[2]*Y[2] + X[3]*Y[3] (which in this case will give us -4). It is obvious that X can be represented using binary digits, e.g. an integer type int32 for L=32. Then, all what we have to do is to find a dot product of this integer with an array of 32 integers. Do you have any idea or suggestions how to do it very fast?

• Fast way to perform addition of 2 LARGE float arrays in Android. Optional JNI or Opengl ES

  I simply need to add floatArray1 to floatArray2 storing the result in floatArray2.. no third array.. all arrays are one dimensional but are very large... probibly as large as the os will let me get away with. Max i would need is two float arrays with 40,000 floats each... but i could get away with 1/10th that i suppose minimum. Would love to do this in 1/30th or 1/60th of a second but that does not seem possible? Also if the code is JNI,NDK or OpenGL ES thats fine.. does android have an assembly language or like machine code i could use somehow?

• Best way to style GWT widgets in a library

  I'm developing some widgets into a library for internal use at the company I work for. I don't know what's the recommended way to style the widgets. There are at least these ways: use Widget.setPrimaryStyleName and let the user provide an external css. We use maven archetypes to build applications so we can provide default styles. Anyway I don't like it very much. use the GWT 2.0 CssResourceBundle. So we can compile the CSS into the module and it will be optimized (and it can be browser-dependant too). provide a module with the styling. Something like the default GWT themes. But I don't know how exactly this works. I want to: make the components as cohesive as I can (don't depend on externally included css's) leave open the door to modify styles (if I want to change the way some widget looks in a concrete application). What's your experience in this subject?

• Animated gifs in QMovie

  I'm displaying an animated gif in my application by creating a QLabel, and setting the movie as a QMovie. The problem I'm having is that when the gif is displayed, any part of the image that stays a constant color throughout the animation shows up as the background color. I hope I'm explaining that clearly. • Official way to ask jQuery wait for all images to load before executing something

  In jQuery when you do this: $(function() { alert("DOM is loaded, but images not necessarily all loaded"); }); It waits for the DOM to load and executes your code. If all the images are not loaded then it still executes the code. This is obviously what we want if we're initializing any DOM stuff such as showing or hiding elements or attaching events. Let's say though that I want some animation and I don't want it running until all the images are loaded. Is there an official way in jQuery to do this? The best way I have is to use <body onload="finished()">, but I don't really want to do that unless I have to. Note: There is a bug in jQuery 1.3.1 in Internet Explorer which actually does wait for all images to load before executing code inside $function() { }. So if you're using that platform you'll get the behavior I'm looking for instead of the correct behavior described above.

I used re module but failed. m = re.search("[^\d]+(\d+)", score) TypeError: expected string or buffer function search in re.py at line 142 return _compile(pattern, flags).search(string) What's the return type of the find function? How to get the number from the score variable? Is there any easy way to let BeautifulSoup to return the value(in this case 524) itself?

• Want procmail to run a custom python script, everytime a new mail shows up

  I have a pretty usual requirement with procmail but I am unable to get the results somehow. I have procmailrc file with this content: :0 * ^To.*@myhost | /usr/bin/python /work/scripts/privilege_emails_forward.py Wherein my custom python script(privilege_emails_forward.py) will be scanning through the email currently received and do some operations on the mail content. But I am unable to get the script getting executed at the first shot(let alone scanning through the mail content). Is this a correct way of invoking an external program(python) as soon as new mail arrives? And how does my python program(privilege_emails_forward.py) will receive the mail as input? I mean as sys.argv or stdin????

  My Question: How do you get the filepath to the current wallpaper? Expansion: I'm writing an app that will let you change the wallpaper easily between different presets. I want to store the filepath of the available wallpapers in my database. What I've tried: WallpaperManger.getWallpaperInfo() or WallpaperManger.getDrawable().   Ok, firstly this is not about forms this is about consistent layout as a user explores a site. let me explain: If we imagine a (non-ajax) digital camera online store, say someone was on the DSLR section and specified to view the cameras in Gallery mode and order by price. They then click onto the Compact camera's page. It would be in the users interests if the 'views' they selected we're carried over to this new page. Now, i'd say use a session - am i wrong? are there performance issues i should be aware of for a few small session vars ( ie view=1 , orderby=price) ?

  Let's say I do this: $("#content").load(...); Within what I'm loading some javascript is included: var myCounter = 0; var myInterval = setInterval(function(){ myCounter++; $("#counter-display").html("Count: "+myCounter); }); For an unknown reason, if I reload the content with $("#content").load(...); - myInterval is now being called twice. I tried doing something like: if (myInterval !== undefined){ //dont set interval again } However, it doesn't work. Does anyone know any method so that myInterval is cleared on .load, without needing to put the javascript outside of the loaded file?

  I have a class that need to be serialized (for both persistentcy and client-server communication) for simplicity's sake let's call the classes Business a BusinessData and I prefix for their Interfaces. All the getter and setter are delegated from Business class to BusinessData class. I thought about implementing IBusinessData interface that will contain all the getter and setters and IBusiness interface that will extend it. I can either make Business extend BuisnessData so I will not need to implement all getter and setter delegates, or make some abstract class ForwardingBusinessData that will only delegate getter and setters. Any of the above option I lose my hierarchy freedom, do any of you have any creative solutions for this problem... I also reviewed DAO pattern: http://java.sun.com/blueprints/patterns/DAO.html

  Hi, I often see this idiom when reading php code: public function __construct($config) { if (array_key_exists('options', $config)) { ... } if (array_key_exists('driver_options', $config)) { ... } } Here I am concern with the way the parameter is used. If I were in lisp I would do: (defun ct (&key options driver_options) (do-something-with-option-and-driver_option)) But since I am in PHP I would rather have a constructor that take a list of parameter and let them be null if there a not require. So what do you guys think about having an array as parameter in other to do some initialization-or-whatever? In other to answer you have to take in account the point of view of the user of the function and the designer of the API. Also have you ever heard this has a code-smell? thanks

  I have a weird situation. I have three entities, Company, Employee, Plan and Participation (in retirement plan). Company PK: Company ID Plan PK: Company ID, Plan ID Employee PK: Company ID, SSN, Employee ID Participation PK: Company ID, SSN, Plan ID The problem is in linking the employee to the participation. From a DB perspective, participation should have Employee ID in the PK (it's not even in table). But it doesn't. NHibernate won't let me map the "has many" because the link expects 3 columns (since Employee PK has 3 columns), but I'd only provide 2. Any ideas on how to do this?

But i'm getting the following error: $ ant -f invoke.xml Buildfile: /home/inysi/jpegu/cdt/tmp/invoke.xml run: [sshexec] Connecting to ****** [sshexec] cmd : ant -f build.xml [sshexec] uname: not found [sshexec] basename: not found [sshexec] dirname: not found [sshexec] Error: JAVA_HOME is not defined correctly. [sshexec] We cannot execute java [sshexec] which: not found BUILD SUCCESSFUL Total time: 2 seconds But, i can invoke the remote ANT script in Linux environment using SSHEXEC from windows. Can you please let me know, what could be the issue. JAVA_HOME is set in the windows environment variables. Where to set JAVA_HOME in the windows environment. Is there something similar to .bash_profile in windows. So that ANT process can pick it up.
