  • Python + Expat: Error on &#0; entities

    - by clacke
    I have written a small function, which uses ElementTree and xpath to extract the text contents of certain elements in an xml file: #!/usr/bin/env python2.5 import doctest from xml.etree import ElementTree from StringIO import StringIO def parse_xml_etree(sin, xpath): """ Takes as input a stream containing XML and an XPath expression. Applies the XPath expression to the XML and returns a generator yielding the text contents of each element returned. >>> parse_xml_etree( ... StringIO('<test><elem1>one</elem1><elem2>two</elem2></test>'), ... '//elem1').next() 'one' >>> parse_xml_etree( ... StringIO('<test><elem1>one</elem1><elem2>two</elem2></test>'), ... '//elem2').next() 'two' >>> parse_xml_etree( ... StringIO('<test><null>&#0;</null><elem3>three</elem3></test>'), ... '//elem2').next() 'three' """ tree = ElementTree.parse(sin) for element in tree.findall(xpath): yield element.text if __name__ == '__main__': doctest.testmod(verbose=True) The third test fails with the following exception: ExpatError: reference to invalid character number: line 1, column 13 Is the entity illegal XML? Regardless whether it is or not, the files I want to parse contain it, and I need some way to parse them. Any suggestions for another parser than Expat, or settings for Expat, that would allow me to do that?

  • Event consumption in WPF

    - by webaloman
    I have a very simple app written in Silverlight for Windows Phone, where I try to use events. In my App.xaml.cs code behind I have implemented a GeoCoordinateWatcher which registers a gCWatche_PositionChanged method. This works ok, method is called after the position has been changed. What I want to do is fire an other event lets say DBUpdatedEvent after DB has been updated in the gCWatche_PositionChanged method. For this i delclared in the App.xaml.cs public delegate void DBUpdateEventHandler(object sender, EventArgs e); and I have in my App class: public event DBUpdateEventHandler DBUpdated; the event is fired like this in the end of gCWatche_PositionChanged method like this: OnDBUpdateEvent(new EventArgs()); and also I have declared : protected virtual void OnDBUpdateEvent(EventArgs e) { if (DBUpdated != null) { DBUpdated(this, e); } } Now I need to consume this event in my other Windows Phone app page which is a separate class PhoneApplicationPage. So I declared this method in this other Phone Page: public void DBHasBeenUpdated(object sender, EventArgs e) { Debug.WriteLine("DB UPDATE EVENT CATCHED"); } And in the constructor of this page I declared: DBUpdateEventHandler dbEH = new DBUpdateEventHandler(DBHasBeenUpdated); But when I test the application event is fired (OnDBUpdateEvent is called, but DBUpdated is null, therefore DBUpdated is not called - strange) and I have a problem that the other Phone Page is not catching the event at all... Any suggestions? How to catch that event. Thanks.

  • Use a jquery UI slider to control the resizing of a youtube video.

    - by HV
    Hi, I have a resizable div with the video width and height 100% of the div. I can resize it using the corners but I want to control this with a ui slider and maintain the "aspectRatio: 16/9" that .resizable() provides. This is what I have so far <script> $(function(){ var slide_int = null; function update_slider(){ var offset = $('.ui-slider-handle').offset(); var value = $('#slider-range-max').slider('option', 'value'); $('#Youtube').width(+value); } $('#slider-range-max').slider({ step: 5, min: 200, max: 950, start: function(event, ui){ $('#amount').empty(); slide_int = setInterval(update_slider, 5); }, slide: function(event, ui){ setTimeout(update_slider, 5); }, stop: function(event, ui){ clearInterval(slide_int); slide_int = null; } $('#Youtube') .resizable({aspectRatio: 16/9});}); The Slider <div id="slider-range-max"></div> Div <div id="Youtube"> <object width="100%" height="100%"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JC7aWY5chyI&hl=en_US&fs=1&"> </param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"> </param> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"> </param> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JC7aWY5chyI&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="100%" height="100%"></embed> </object> </div> Thanks

  • C#; On casting to the SAME class that came from another assembly

    - by G. Stoynev
    For complete separation/decoupling, I've implemented a DAL in an assebly that is simply being copied over via post-build event to the website BIN folder. The website then on Application Start loads that assembly via System.Reflection.Assembly.LoadFile. Again, using reflection, I construct a couple of instances from classes in that assembly. I then store a reference to these instances in the session (HttpContext.Current.Items) Later, when I try to get the object stored in the session, I am not able to cast them to their own types (was trying interfaces initially, but for debugging tried to cast to THEIR OWN TYPES), getting this error: [A]DAL_QSYSCamper.NHibernateSessionBuilder cannot be cast to [B] DAL_QSYSCamper.NHibernateSessionBuilder. Type A originates from 'DAL_QSYSCamper, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' in the context 'Default' at location 'C:\Users\dull.anomal\AppData\Local\Temp\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\ad6e8bff\70fa2384\assembly\dl3\aaf7a5b0\84f01b09_b10acb01\DAL_QSYSCamper.DLL'. Type B originates from 'DAL_QSYSCamper, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' in the context 'LoadNeither' at location 'C:\Users\dull.anomal\Documents\Projects\QSYS\Deleteme\UI\MVCClient\bin\DAL_QSYSCa mper.DLL'. This is happening while debugging in VS - VS manages to stop into the source DAL project even though I've loaded from assembly and the project is not refferenced by the website project (they're both in the solution). I do understand the error, but I don't understand how and why the assembly is being used/loaded from two locations - I only load it once from the file and there's no referrence to the project. Should mention that I also use Windsor for DI. The object that tries to extract the object from the session is A) from a class from that DAL assembly; B) is injected into a website class by Windsor. I will work on adding some sample code to this question, but wanted to put it out in case it's obvious what I do wrong.

  • Decorators vs. classes in python web development.

    - by Tristan
    I've noticed three main ways Python web frameworks deal request handing: decorators, controller classes with methods for individual requests, and request classes with methods for GET/POST. I'm curious about the virtues of these three approaches. Are there major advantages or disadvantages to any of these approaches? To fix ideas, here are three examples. Bottle uses decorators: @route('/') def index(): return 'Hello World!' Pylons uses controller classes: class HelloController(BaseController): def index(self): return 'Hello World' Tornado uses request handler classes with methods for types: class MainHandler(tornado.web.RequestHandler): def get(self): self.write("Hello, world") Which style is the best practice?

  • Android App crashing on Back Button (performResumeActivity)

Anyone has an idea why the App crashes. Any help is much appreciated. I did find out that, when I finish() the MAIN activity when I start the FriendListActivity and restart the MAIN activity when closing the FriendListActivity, that the crash does not occur. However, this basically restarts the App and that is not the intention. Thanks all, I got the problem solved. This is what I did. . When moving all gallery related actions to the onCreate, the creash didn't happen anymore. But then after returning to the MAIN activity, the activity wasn't shown. . I then moved all the onCreate (except the super), the generateGallery, and the onStart() to the onResume. Now it works fine!

  • ViewGroup{TextView,...}.getMeasuredHeight gives wrong value is smaller than real height.

    - by Dewr
    ViewGroup(the ViewGroup is containing TextViews having long text except line-feed-character).getMeasuredHeight returns wrong value... that is smaller than real height. how to get rid of this problem? here is the java code: ;public static void setListViewHeightBasedOnChildren(ListView listView) { ListAdapter listAdapter = listView.getAdapter(); if (listAdapter == null) { // pre-condition return; } int totalHeight = 0; int count = listAdapter.getCount(); for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) { View listItem = listAdapter.getView(i, null, listView); listItem.measure(View.MeasureSpec.AT_MOST, View.MeasureSpec.UNSPECIFIED); totalHeight += listItem.getMeasuredHeight(); } ViewGroup.LayoutParams params = listView.getLayoutParams(); params.height = totalHeight + (listView.getDividerHeight() * (listAdapter.getCount() - 1)); listView.setLayoutParams(params); } ; and here is the list_item_comments.xml:; {RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" } {RelativeLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_centerVertical="true" android:layout_marginLeft="8dip" android:layout_marginRight="8dip" } {TextView android:id="@+id/list_item_comments_nick" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="16sp" style="@style/WhiteText" /} {TextView android:id="@+id/list_item_comments_time" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:textSize="16sp" style="@style/WhiteText" /} {TextView android:id="@+id/list_item_comments_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_below="@id/list_item_comments_nick" android:autoLink="all" android:textSize="24sp" style="@style/WhiteText" /} {/RelativeLayout} {/RelativeLayout} ;

    Yeah right... we are forced to programm some good old C at our university... ;) So here's my problem: We got the assignment to program a little program that show a fibonacci sequence from 1 to n 1 to 18 works great. But from 19 the program does nothing at all and just exit as it's done. I can not find the error... so please give me a hint. :) #include #include #include #include int main(int argc, char **argv) { pid_t pid; int fib[argc]; int i, size; size = strtol(argv[1], NULL, 0L); fib[0] = 0; fib[1] = 1; pid = fork(); printf("size = %d \n", size); if(pid == 0){ for(i = 2; i 0){ // Parent, because pid 0 wait(NULL); printf("\n"); exit(1); } } Thanks already!

  • PHP class_exists always returns true

    - by Ali
    I have a PHP class that needs some pre-defined globals before the file is included: File: includes/Product.inc.php if (class_exists('Product')) { return; } // This class requires some predefined globals if ( !isset($gLogger) || !isset($db) || !isset($glob) ) { return; } class Product { ... } The above is included in other PHP files that need to use Product using require_once. Anyone who wants to use Product must however ensure those globals are available, at least that's the idea. I recently debugged an issue in a function within the Product class which was caused because $gLogger was null. The code requiring the above Product.inc.php had not bothered to create the $gLogger. So The question is how was this class ever included if $gLogger was null? I tried to debug the code (xdebug in NetBeans), put a breakpoint at the start of Product.inc.php to find out and every time it came to the if (class_exists('Product')) clause it would simply step in and return thus never getting to the global checks. So how was it ever included the first time? This is PHP 5.1+ running under MAMP (Apache/MySQL). I don't have any auto loaders defined.

  • recvfrom returns invalid argument when *from* is passed

    - by Aditya Sehgal
    I am currently writing a small UDP server program in linux. The UDP server will receive packets from two different peers and will perform different operations based on from which peer it received the packet. I am trying to determine the source from where I receive the packet. However, when select returns and recvfrom is called, it returns with an error of Invalid Argument. If I pass NULL as the second last arguments, recvfrom succeeds. I have tried declaring fromAddr as struct sockaddr_storage, struct sockaddr_in, struct sockaddr without any success. Is their something wrong with this code? Is this the correct way to determine the source of the packet? The code snippet follows. ` /*TODO : update for TCP. use recv */ if((pkInfo->rcvLen=recvfrom(psInfo->sockFd, pkInfo->buffer, MAX_PKTSZ, 0, /* (struct sockaddr*)&fromAddr,*/ NULL, &(addrLen) )) < 0) { perror("RecvFrom failed\n"); } else { /*Apply Filter */ #if 0 struct sockaddr_in* tmpAddr; tmpAddr = (struct sockaddr_in* )&fromAddr; printf("Received Msg From %s\n",inet_ntoa(tmpAddr->sin_addr)); #endif printf("Packet Received of len = %d\n",pkInfo->rcvLen); } `

My question is - WHY?

    Given two object arrays I need to compare the differences between the two (when converted to a string). I've reduced the code to the following and the problem still exists: public void Compare(object[] array1, object[] array2) { for (var i = 0; i < array1.Length; i++) { var value1 = GetStringValue(array1[i]); var value2 = GetStringValue(array2[i]); } } public string GetStringValue(object value) { return value != null && value.ToString() != string.Empty ? value.ToString() : ""; } The code executes fine no matter what object arrays I throw at it. However if one of the items in the array is a reference type then somehow the reference is updated. This causes issues later. It appears that this happens when calling ToString() against the object reference. I have updated the GetStringValue method to the following (which makes sure the object is either a value type or string) and the problem goes away. public string GetStringValue(object value) { return value != null && (value.GetType().IsValueType || value is string) && value.ToString() != string.Empty ? value.ToString() : ""; } However this is just a temporary hack as I'd like to be able to override the ToString() method on my reference types and compare them as well. I'd appreciate it if someone could explain why this is happening and offer a potential solution. Thanks

  • Do something else if ReadWriteSlimlock is held

    - by user43838
    Hi everyone, I have implemented ReaderWriterLockSlim, Now i don't want it to wait at the lock. I want to do something else if the lock is held. I considered using is isWriterLockHeld but it does not makes much sense to me, Since if two threads come in at the same time and enter the if statement at the same time one will still be waiting at the lock here is my code. ReaderWriterLockSlim rw = GetLoadingLock(parameters); rw = GetLoadingLock(parameters); try { rw.EnterWriteLock(); item = this.retrieveCacheItem(parameters.ToString(), false); if (item != null) { parameters.DataCameFromCache = true; // if the data was found in the cache, return it immediately return item.data; } else { try { object loaditem = null; itemsLoading[parameters.ToString()] = true; loaditem = this.retrieveDataFromStore(parameters); return loaditem; } finally { itemsLoading.Remove(parameters.ToString()); } } } finally { rw.ExitWriteLock(); } Can anyone please guide me in the right direction with this. Thanks

  • Regular non-low energy bluetooth for IOS

    - by user3712524
    Ok, so I can't get my app to connect with a peripheral using bluetooth low-energy(my app is installed on an iPhone 5s and I have LightBlue installed on an iPhone 4S, simulating a peripheral. I also have light blue installed on the 5s, simulating a central, to verify that the two can connect and they do.) I have verified that the centralManager is instantiating and the State is powered on. So, my question is, is regular bluetooth still a viable option? Can I just use the GameKit API and go that route? Thanks in advance!

  • Looking for a way to draw a line between two points on a sphere in Three.js

    - by speedwell
    My app (a flight tracker) needs to draw a line between two points (cities say) on a sphere (earth) along the surface (i.e. the great circle route) using Three.js. I can think of 2 ways - (a) creating Three.js 'Line' with a set of (enough) points that I calculate manually and (b) writing the lines into the texture I use for the sphere after it's loaded but before I apply it as a texture. I can see problems with both (not even sure if (b) is possible in Three.js yet) - anyone think of a better way or have an opinion? Thanks in advance.

  • Not getting key value from Identity column back after inserting new row with SubSonic ActiveRecord

    - by mikedevenney
    I'm sure I'm missing the obvious answer here, but could use a hand. I'm new to SubSonic and using version 3. I've got myself to the point of being able to query and insert, but I'm stuck with how I would get the value of the identity column back after my insert. I saw another post that mentioned Linq Templates. I'm not using those (at least I don't think I am...?) TIA ... UPDATE ... So I've been debugging through my code watching how the SubSonic code works and I found where the indentity column is being ignored. I use int as the datatype for my ID columns in the database and set them as identity. Since int is a non-nullable data type in c# the logical test in the Add method (public void Add(IDataProvider provider)) that checks if there is a value in the key column by doing a (key==null) could be the issue. The code that gets the new value for the identity field is in the 'true path', since an int can't be null and I use ints as my identity column data types this test will never pass. The ID field for my object has a 0 in it that I didn't put there. I assume it's set during the initialization of the object. Am I off base here? Is the answer to change my data types in the database? Another question (more a curiosity). I noticed that some of the properties in the generated classes are declared with a ? after the datatype. I'm not familiar with this declaration construct... what gives? There are some declared as an int (non key fields) and others that are declared as int? (key fields). Does this have something to do with how they're treated at initialization? Any help is appreciated! --BUMP--

  • Capabilities & Linux & Java

    - by Marek Jelen
    Hi, I am experimenting with linux capabilities for java application ... I do not want to add capabilities to interpreter (JVM), so I tried to write simple wrapper (with debugging information printed to stdout): #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <sys/capability.h> #include <unistd.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]){ cap_t cap = cap_get_proc(); if (!cap) { perror("cap_get_proc"); exit(1); } printf("%s: running with caps %s\n", argv[0], cap_to_text(cap, NULL)); return execlp("/usr/bin/java", "-server", "-jar", "project.jar", (char *)NULL); } This way, I can se that the capability is set for this execucatable: ./runner: running with caps = cap_net_bind_service+p And getcap shows runner = cap_net_bind_service+ip I have the capability set to be inheritable, so there should be no problem. However java still don't want to bind to privileged ports :-( I am getting this error: sun/nio/ch/Net.java:-2:in `bind': java.net.SocketException: Permission denied (NativeException) Can someone help me to resolve this? Thanks in advance

  • Service Broker not working after database restore

    - by roryok
    Have a working Service Broker set up on a server, we're in the process of moving to a new server but I can't seem to get Service Broker set up on the new box. Have done the obvious (to me) things like Enabling Broker on the DB, dropping the route, services, contract, queues and even message type and re adding them, setting ALTER QUEUE with STATUS ON SELECT * FROM sys.service_queues gives me a list of the queues, including my own two, which show as activation_enabled, receive_enabled etc. Needless to say the queues aren't working. When I drop messages into them nothing goes in and nothing comes out. Any ideas? I'm sure there's something really obvious I've missed...

  • RegQueryValueEx not working with a Release version but working fine with Debug

    - by Nux
    Hi. I'm trying to read some ODBC details form a registry and for that I use RegQueryValueEx. The problem is when I compile the release version it simply cannot read any registry values. The code is: CString odbcFuns::getOpenedKeyRegValue(HKEY hKey, CString valName) { CString retStr; char *strTmp = (char*)malloc(MAX_DSN_STR_LENGTH * sizeof(char)); memset(strTmp, 0, MAX_DSN_STR_LENGTH); DWORD cbData; long rret = RegQueryValueEx(hKey, valName, NULL, NULL, (LPBYTE)strTmp, &cbData); if (rret != ERROR_SUCCESS) { free(strTmp); return CString("?"); } strTmp[cbData] = '\0'; retStr.Format(_T("%s"), strTmp); free(strTmp); return retStr; } I've found a workaround for this - I disabled Optimization (/Od), but it seems strange that I needed to do that. Is there some other way? I use Visual Studio 2005. Maybe it's a bug in VS? Almost forgot - the error code is 2 (as the key wouldn't be found).

  • Short file names versus long file names in Windows

    - by normski
    I have some code which gets the short name from a file path, using GetShortNameW(), and then later retrieves the long name view GetLongNameA(). The original file is of the form "C:/ProgramData/My Folder/File.ext" However, following conversion to short, then back to long, the filename becomes "C:/Program Files/My Folder/Filename.ext". The short name is of the form "C:/PROGRA~2/MY_FOL~1/FIL~1.EXT" The short name is being incorrectly resolved. The code compiles using VS 2005 on Windows 7 (I cannot upgrade the project to VS2008) Does anybody have any idea why this might be happening? DWORD pathLengthNeeded = ::GetShortPathNameW(aRef->GetFilePath().c_str(), NULL, 0); if(pathLengthNeeded != 0) { WCHAR* shortPath = new WCHAR[pathLengthNeeded]; DWORD newPathNameLength = ::GetShortPathNameW(aRef->GetFilePath().c_str(), shortPath, pathLengthNeeded); if(newPathNameLength != 0) { UI_STRING unicodePath(shortPath); std::string asciiPath = StringFromUserString(unicodePath); pathLengthNeeded = ::GetLongPathNameA(asciiPath.c_str(),NULL, 0); if(pathLengthNeeded != 0) {// convert it back to a long path if possible. For goodness sake can't we use Unicode throughout?F char* longPath = new char[pathLengthNeeded]; DWORD newPathNameLength = ::GetLongPathNameA(asciiPath.c_str(), longPath, pathLengthNeeded); if(newPathNameLength != 0) { std::string longPathString(longPath, newPathNameLength); asciiPath = longPathString; } delete [] longPath; } SetFullPathName(asciiPath); } delete [] shortPath; }

  • LicenseChecker checkAccess leaks ServiceConnection

    - by Bill The Ape
    I am receiving this exception in LogCat every time I press the Back button in my app: Activity has leaked ServiceConnection com.android.vending.licensing.LicenseChecker@471cc039 that was originally bound here The code responsible for this leak in onCreate() is: mLicenseCheckerCallback = new MyLicenseCheckerCallback(); mChecker.checkAccess(mLicenseCheckerCallback); How do I get rid of this leak? I tried not assigning MyLicenseCheckerCallback to a member, thinking perhaps when the activity goes onPause() the reference to the callback is responsible for the leak: mChecker.checkAccess(new MyLicenseCheckerCallback()); But that didn't get rid of the leak. Update: Thanks to @zapl's comment below, I looked at Google's LicenseChecker.java: /** Unbinds service if necessary and removes reference to it. */ private void cleanupService() { if (mService != null) { try { mContext.unbindService(this); } catch (IllegalArgumentException e) { // Somehow we've already been unbound. This is a non-fatal error. Log.e(TAG, "Unable to unbind from licensing service (already unbound)"); } mService = null; } } At first I thought that I may be neglecting to call it, but I double-checked and I am calling mChecker.onDestroy(); in my activity's onDestroy(). I also checked onDestroy() in LicenseChecker.java and it is calling unbindService: /** * Inform the library that the context is about to be destroyed, so that * any open connections can be cleaned up. * <p> * Failure to call this method can result in a crash under certain * circumstances, such as during screen rotation if an Activity requests * the license check or when the user exits the application. */ public synchronized void onDestroy() { cleanupService(); mHandler.getLooper().quit(); } So, what is really going on? Is this a bug in LVL?

  • Is there a performance gain from defining routes in app.yaml versus one large mapping in a WSGIAppli

    - by jgeewax
    Scenario 1 This involves using one "gateway" route in app.yaml and then choosing the RequestHandler in the WSGIApplication. app.yaml - url: /.* script: main.py main.py from google.appengine.ext import webapp class Page1(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self): self.response.out.write("Page 1") class Page2(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self): self.response.out.write("Page 2") application = webapp.WSGIApplication([ ('/page1/', Page1), ('/page2/', Page2), ], debug=True) def main(): wsgiref.handlers.CGIHandler().run(application) if __name__ == '__main__': main() Scenario 2: This involves defining two routes in app.yaml and then two separate scripts for each (page1.py and page2.py). app.yaml - url: /page1/ script: page1.py - url: /page2/ script: page2.py page1.py from google.appengine.ext import webapp class Page1(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self): self.response.out.write("Page 1") application = webapp.WSGIApplication([ ('/page1/', Page1), ], debug=True) def main(): wsgiref.handlers.CGIHandler().run(application) if __name__ == '__main__': main() page2.py from google.appengine.ext import webapp class Page2(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self): self.response.out.write("Page 2") application = webapp.WSGIApplication([ ('/page2/', Page2), ], debug=True) def main(): wsgiref.handlers.CGIHandler().run(application) if __name__ == '__main__': main() Question What are the benefits and drawbacks of each pattern? Is one much faster than the other?
