• (Android) Seems like my JSON query is getting double encode

  Hi, I am getting some weird errors with my Android App. It appears that this code is double encoding the JSON string. What should be sent is ?{"email":"[email protected]","password":"asdf"} or ?%7B%22email%22:%22..... what the server is seeing is %257B%2522email%2522:%2522 .... which means the server sees %7B%22email%22:%22 ..... This confuses the server. Any ideas why this is happening? • Capturing network traffic on Linux

  Question: I have one Windows laptop, one Linux laptop and a wireless router. Now I want to "investigate" the hotmail/windows live protocol. What I want to do is route network traffic from the windows laptop via ethernet to the linux laptop, capture it on the Linux computer, forward it wirelessly to the router, receive the hotmail response from the router on the linux computer and forward it to the windows computer. How do I do that? In essence, switching the Linux laptop between the Windows laptop and the router, to capture network traffic ? Which program is best for capturing/analysing ? Please note that for whatever reason, packet capturing with winpcap on the windows computer doesn't work...

• Memory optimization while downloading

  hello all i have the following piece of code, that im looking forward to optimize, since i'm consuming gobs of memory this routine is heavily used first optimization would be to move the stringbuilder construction out of the download routine and make it a field of the class, then i would clear it inside the routine can you please suggest any other optimization or point me in the direction of some resources that could help me with this (web articles, books, etc). i'm thinking about replacing the stringbuilder by a fixed (much larger) size buffer ... or perhaps create a larger sized stringbuilder thanks in advance. • C release dynamically allocated memory

  I have defined function, which returns multidimensional array. allocation for rows arr = (char **)malloc(size); allocation for columns (in loop) arr[i] = (char *)malloc(v); and returning type is char** Everything works fine, except freeing the memory. If I call free(arr[i]) and/or free(arr) on array returned by function, it crashes. • Programmatic Text Wrapping in TextView

  I'm working on a custom widget for my application to replicate the look of a Preference button for layouts. The issue is the 'summary' text wont wrap when it hits the right wall of the view. • AutoMapper : Site wide usage of IValueFormatter for given types

  It is my understanding I can configure AutoMapper in the following way and during mapping it should format all source model dates to the rules defined in the IValueFormatter and set the result to the mapped model. ForSourceType<DateTime>().AddFormatter<StandardDateFormatter>(); ForSourceType<DateTime?>().AddFormatter<StandardDateFormatter>(); I get no effect for my mapped class with this. It only works when I do the following: Mapper.CreateMap<Member, MemberForm>().ForMember(x => x.DateOfBirth, y => y.AddFormatter<StandardDateFormatter>()); I am mapping DateTime? Member.DateOfBirth to string MemberForm.DateOfBirth. The formatter basically creates a short date string from the date. Is there something I am missing when setting the default formatter for a given type? • PHP class_exists always returns true

  I have a PHP class that needs some pre-defined globals before the file is included: File: includes/Product.inc.php if (class_exists('Product')) { return; } // This class requires some predefined globals if ( !isset($gLogger) || !isset($db) || !isset($glob) ) { return; } class Product { ... } The above is included in other PHP files that need to use Product using require_once. Anyone who wants to use Product must however ensure those globals are available, at least that's the idea. I recently debugged an issue in a function within the Product class which was caused because $gLogger was null. The code requiring the above Product.inc.php had not bothered to create the $gLogger. So The question is how was this class ever included if $gLogger was null? I tried to debug the code (xdebug in NetBeans), put a breakpoint at the start of Product.inc.php to find out and every time it came to the if (class_exists('Product')) clause it would simply step in and return thus never getting to the global checks. So how was it ever included the first time? This is PHP 5.1+ running under MAMP (Apache/MySQL). I don't have any auto loaders defined.

  In mongojs, when you do: var birds = db.birds.find(searchTerm, callback); ...how do you pass arguments to the callback? I've tried bind, as in: birds = db.birds.find(searchTerm, app.get('getBirds').bind(res)); ...but to no avail. Just fyi I'm trying to pass the response object of the GET route so that the callback can render using res.send(results). The other option is to set app.set('res': res); and call app.get('res') from the callback - I'm not sure this is a good idea. It works, but it doesn't obey the events loop model too well - I think the request back to the app may be costly? Any help would be gratefully accepted. :)

  I have a ParameterView and ParameterViewModel, and I need the ParameterViewModel to have a reference to the Parameter view (more on that later). In the window I have a list of ParameterViewModels and in the ResourceDictionary I add the DataTemplate: <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type my:ParameterViewModel}" > <my:ParameterView HorizontalAlignment="Left"/> </DataTemplate> I then bind an ItemsControl.ItemSource to the List of ParameterViewModels The problem is: How can I pass the ParameterView to the ParameterViewModel in this scenario? The reason I need the ParameterView in the ParameterViewModel is the following: I have a TextBox whose Text property is binded to the PropertyModelView.Name property. But I want to display a default string when the Name is empty or Null. I've tried to set the property value to the default string I want when that happens but the TextBox.Text is not set in this scenario. I do something like this: private string _name; public string Name { get { return _name; } set { if (value == null || value.Length == 0) Name = _defaultName; else _name = value; } } I've also tried to specifically set the TextBox.Text binding mode to TwoWay without success.   Using c# and .net 3.5 I'm trying to validate an xml document against a schema that has includes. The schemas and there includes are as below Schema1.xsd - include another.xsd another.xsd - include base.xsd When i try to add the Schema1.xsd to the XmlDocument i get the following error. Type 'YesNoType' is not declared or is not a simple type. I believe i'm getting this error because the base.xsd file is not being included when i load the Schema1.xsd schema. I'm trying to use the XmlSchemaSet class and I'm setting the XmlResolver uri to the location of the schemas. • Why does fb:fan control disappear after login with requireSession on external page?

  Hi, Reqs: I want to make an external page with a 'Become a Fan'-button. I want users to login to facebook once they open the page (this is because of other features in the site) So I call FB.Connect.requireSession once the page loads, and put a <fb:fan></fb:fan> control on the page. Then when I open the page I see the 'Connect with Facebook to Continue' pop-up and a small 'Become a fan' button. This seems right. When I log in to Facebook using the pop-up the 'Become a fan button' disappears!! Can anyone explain this weird behaviour or does someone know a way to reach my requirements in a different way.   Hi all, i have a problem with some querys in php and mysql: I have 2 diferent tables with one field in common: table 1 id | hits | num_g | cats | usr_id |active 1 | 10 | 11 | 1 | 53 | 1 2 | 13 | 16 | 3 | 53 | 1 1 | 10 | 22 | 1 | 22 | 1 1 | 10 | 21 | 3 | 22 | 1 1 | 2 | 6 | 2 | 11 | 1 1 | 11 | 1 | 1 | 11 | 1 table 2 id | usr_id | points 1 | 53 | 300 Now i use this statement to sum just the total from the table 1 every id count + 1 too SELECT usr_id, COUNT( id ) + SUM( num_g + hits ) AS tot_h FROM table1 WHERE usr_id!='0' GROUP BY usr_id ASC LIMIT 0 , 15 and i get the total for each usr_id usr_id| tot_h | 53 | 50 22 | 63 11 | 20 until here all is ok, now i have a second table with extra points (table2) I try this: SELECT usr_id, COUNT( id ) + SUM( num_g + hits ) + (SELECT points FROM table2 WHERE usr_id != '0' ) AS tot_h FROM table1 WHERE usr_id != '0' GROUP BY usr_id ASC LIMIT 0 , 15 but it seems to sum the 300 extra points to all users: usr_id| tot_h | 53 | 350 22 | 363 11 | 320 Now how i can get the total like the first try but + the secon table in one statement? because now i have just one entry in the second table but i can be more there. thanks for all the help. =============================================================================== hi thomas thanks for your reply, i think is in the right direction, but im getting weirds results, like usr_id | tot_h 22 | NULL <== i think the null its because that usr_id as no value in the table2 53 | 1033 Its like the second user is getting all the the values. then i try this one: SELECT table1.usr_id, COUNT( table1.id ) + SUM( table1.num_g + table1.hits + table2.points ) AS tot_h FROM table1 LEFT JOIN table2 ON table2.usr_id = table1.usr_id WHERE table1.usr_id != '0' AND table2.usr_id = table1.usr_id GROUP BY table1.usr_id ASC Same result i just get the sum of all values and not by each user, i need something like this result: usr_id | tot_h 53 | 53 <==== plus 300 points on table1 22 | 56 <==== plus 100 points on table2 /////////the result i need //////////// usr_id | tot_h 53 | 353 <==== plus 300 points on table2 22 | 156 <==== plus 100 points on table2 I think the structure need to be something like this Pseudo statements ;) from table1 count all id to get the number of record where the usr_id are then sum hits + num_g and from table2 select the extra points where the usr_id are the same as table1 and get teh result: usr_id | tot_h 53 | 353 22 | 156

• Short file names versus long file names in Windows

  I have some code which gets the short name from a file path, using GetShortNameW(), and then later retrieves the long name view GetLongNameA(). The original file is of the form "C:/ProgramData/My Folder/File.ext" However, following conversion to short, then back to long, the filename becomes "C:/Program Files/My Folder/Filename.ext". The short name is of the form "C:/PROGRA~2/MY_FOL~1/FIL~1.EXT" The short name is being incorrectly resolved. The code compiles using VS 2005 on Windows 7 (I cannot upgrade the project to VS2008) Does anybody have any idea why this might be happening? • JPA / Hibernate checks conditions in merge()

  Working with JPA / Hibernate in an OSIV Web environment is driving me mad ;) Following scenario: I have an entity A that is loaded via JPA and has a collection of B entities. Those B entities have a required field. When the user adds a new B to A by pressing a link in the webapp, that required field is not set (since there is no sensible default value). Upon the next http request, the OSIV filter tries to merge the A entity, but this fails as Hibernate complains that the new B has a required field is not set. javax.persistence.PersistenceException: org.hibernate.PropertyValueException: not-null property references a null or transient value Reading the JPA spec, i see no sign that those checks are required in the merge phase (i have no transaction active) I can't keep the collection of B's outside of A and only add them to A when the user presses 'save' (aka entitymanager.persist()) as the place where the save button is does not know about the B's, only about A. Also A and B are only examples, i have similar stuff all over the place .. Any ideas? Do other JPA implementaions behave the same here? Thanks in advance.

• Event consumption in WPF

  I have a very simple app written in Silverlight for Windows Phone, where I try to use events. In my App.xaml.cs code behind I have implemented a GeoCoordinateWatcher which registers a gCWatche_PositionChanged method. This works ok, method is called after the position has been changed. What I want to do is fire an other event lets say DBUpdatedEvent after DB has been updated in the gCWatche_PositionChanged method. For this i delclared in the App.xaml.cs public delegate void DBUpdateEventHandler(object sender, EventArgs e); and I have in my App class: public event DBUpdateEventHandler DBUpdated; the event is fired like this in the end of gCWatche_PositionChanged method like this: OnDBUpdateEvent(new EventArgs()); and also I have declared : protected virtual void OnDBUpdateEvent(EventArgs e) { if (DBUpdated != null) { DBUpdated(this, e); } } Now I need to consume this event in my other Windows Phone app page which is a separate class PhoneApplicationPage. So I declared this method in this other Phone Page: public void DBHasBeenUpdated(object sender, EventArgs e) { Debug.WriteLine("DB UPDATE EVENT CATCHED"); } And in the constructor of this page I declared: DBUpdateEventHandler dbEH = new DBUpdateEventHandler(DBHasBeenUpdated); But when I test the application event is fired (OnDBUpdateEvent is called, but DBUpdated is null, therefore DBUpdated is not called - strange) and I have a problem that the other Phone Page is not catching the event at all... Any suggestions? How to catch that event. Thanks.

• Showing multiple models in a single ListView

  I've three models (Contacts, Notes, Reminders). I want to search all these and produce the filtered result in a single listview and depending upon the selection I've to display the corresponding view(UserControl) to its right. I want the right way of implementing the design or atleast alternatives to this method that I've tried. Now I've tried it using a IntegratedViewModel having all the properties from all the three models. public class IntegratedViewModel { ContactModel _contactModel; NoteModel _noteModel; public IntegratedViewModel(ContactModel contactModel) { _contactModel = contactModel; } // similarly for other models also public string DisplayTitle // For displaying in ListView { get; //same as set set { If(_contactModel != null) return _contactModel.Name; If(_noteModel != null) return _noteModel.Title; } } // All other properties from the three models includin the Name/Title properties for displaying them in the corresponding views(UserControl) } Now I set the itemsSource as the List<IntegratedViewModel>. I've to now bind the visibility of the views to some properties in the MainViewModel. I tried setting bool properties like IsContactViewSelected, IsNoteViewSelected using the setter of SelectedEntity property which is bound to the ListView's SelectedItem. public SelectedEntity { //get set { oldvalue = _selectedEntity; _selectedEntity = value; // now i find the Type of model selected using oldvalue.ModelType // where ModelType is a property in the IntegratedViewModel // according to the type, i set one of the above bool properties to false // and do the same for _selectedEntity but set the property to true // so that the view corresponding to the selectedEntityType is visible // and others are collapsed } } Here is the problem: For eg: let us say, I selected an item of type ContactModel, the old selection being NoteModel. I set the property IsNoteModelSelected to false according to the oldvalue, it sets the property and then Raises the propertychanged event and does not go and check the remaining if condition where i check for _selectedEntity which is used to set the IsContactModelSelected to true.
