• Binding to a collection of DependencyObjects in Silverlight 4

  As of Silverlight 4 it is possible to data bind against a DependencyObject (instead of a Framework element in previous versions). So far so good, but how do I bind agains a collection of DependencyObjects. The DataContext is not passed from the ObservableCollection to the collection elements, so that the DependencyProperties of the DependencyObjects are never called (neither the changed events). Neither the DependencyObject offers SetBinding or DataContext to initialize the binding manually. Thanks for any advice here.

• Problem with StandardOutput stream in async mode.

  Hi everyone. I have a program that launches command line processes in async mode, using BeginOutputReadLine. My problem is that the .Exited event is triggered when there is still some .OutputDataReceived events being triggered. What I do in my .Exited event must happen only once all my .OutputDataReceived events are done, or I'll be missing some output. I looked in the Process class to see if anything could be useful to me, as to wait for the stream to be empty, but all I find is for sync mode only. Can any of you help? Thanx.

• Can ASP.NET MVC html helpers render an element without an ID attribute?

  Assume I want to generate an element similar to this in ASP.NET MVC 2: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(p => p.FooBar)%> Is there an overload or way I can get ASP.NET MVC 2 to only generate a name attribute and not an ID attribute? I can have it generate a blank id with <%= Html.TextBoxFor(p => p.FooBar, new { id = "" })%>, but I would like to generate the element with no ID at all, and without overriding the asp.net mvc framework.

In the pilot phase (just a few users), we are already seeing occasional errors on the server in the exporting method. • Embed resource in .NET Assembly without assembly prefix?

  Hi all, When you embed a reosurce into a .NET assembly using Visual Studio, it is prefixed with the assembly name. However, assemblies can have embedded resources that are not assembly-name-prefixed. The only way I can see to do this is to disassemble the assembly using ildasm, then re-assemble it, adding the new resource -- which works, but... do I really need to finish that sentence? • Interface Builder and Xcode integration not working

  After having installed the iPhone SDK 3.1.2, Interface Builder is not in sync with Xcode anymore. The light indicator at the bottom of the XIB window is grey. IB doesn't see any files from the Xcode project. Xcode is always open when I start IB. I tried rebooting. No luck. I tried removing the preferences files for Xcode/IB. No luck. I tried reinstalling Xcode/IB. Still no luck. This page explains how IB monitors the changes in Xcode. While it was an interesting read, it didn't provide any help about how to investigate my problem. Any help would be appreciated. EDIT Here's additional information. I enabled the debug logs for launchd, and I noticed the following line that appears every time Interface Builder is started: [0x0-0x1b01b].com.apple.InterfaceBuilder3[315]: Couldn't open shared capabilities memory GSCapabilities (No such file or directory) This really seems to be related to my issue.

• My presentation layer does not match my model layer even though I have no animations

  On iPhone I have a CALayer that I animate via Core Animation. Then at some point I change view controllers. I then return to the view controller with the CALayer and in viewWillAppear: I set the frame and position properties on my layer to move it back to its starting point. Setting these properties changes the model layer but the presentation layer still has the old values and its presentation layer does not update until the next animation I play. In the CA Programming guide it says "You can query an instance of CALayer for its corresponding presentation layer while an animation transaction is in process." Which, to me, implies that the presentation layer should only be different from the model layer during an animation. But there are no animations currently running. I even used kCATransactionDisableActions to ensure that when I set the position property an implicit animation is not started. Does anyone know why my presentation and model layers are out of sync?   In my drupal installation I can get the offset from UTC in seconds to the timezone I specified in the admin panel using variable_get('date_default_timezone', 0) However, now that we have daylight-saving-time, the time I get is always off by one hour. Is there a way to retrieve the actual timezone string from Drupal, as "Europe/Berlin" for example? The reason is, that I have to use this with Zend Framework's Zend_Date, but Drupal does not set the PHP default timezone, as echo date_default_timezone_get(); gives me System/Localtime.

Apparently the codename was NGWS: Microsoft started development on the .NET Framework in the late 1990s originally under the name of Next Generation Windows Services (NGWS). [Wikipedia] Does anyone know why they chose the name .NET?

  I have an iPhone app that makes use of the AddressBook.framework and uses Core Data to store these contacts. In order to make sure I update my own database when the Address Book is updated (whether via MobileMe or editing within my own app), I am subscribing to the notification as to when the Address Book is updating. I call this on startup: ABAddressBookRef book = ABAddressBookCreate(); ABAddressBookRegisterExternalChangeCallback(book, addressBookChanged, self); Which (supposedly) calls this on any editing.   Im using sharp architecture 1.6 framework to create a MVC2 app. I have two areas, "Business", "Content". Im using BusinessAreaRegistration.cs and ContentAreaRegistration.cs to register the areas by using AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas(). The Content area gets routed just fine, but the business area does not work at all. gooing to /business/businessObjects/ show the error Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found. How can I register both areas properly?

• Detecting a Lightweight Core Data Migration

  I'm using Core Data's automatic lightweight migration successfully. However, when a particular entity gets created during a migration, I'd like to populate it with some data. Of course I could check if the entity is empty every time the application starts, but this seems inefficient when Core Data has a migration framework. Is it possible to detect when a lightweight migration occurs (possibly using KVO or notifications), or does this require implementing standard migrations? I've tried using the NSPersistentStoreCoordinatorStoresDidChangeNotification, but it doesn't fire when migrations occur.
