  Recently when mapping a flat file from a third party source, I needed to check whether some elements had been sent with any content or not. In the source message these elements were being supplied in the form: <comment /> I though I would try using the size functoid, assuming that it would return a size of 0 for these empty elements.  What actully happens is that the Size funtoid returned a size of 1 rather than the 0 I was expecting. To get what I considered to be the correct output I needed to add a String Right Trim functoid before the Size functoid.  This then returned the "required" size of 0.

• How can I reshape and aggregate list of tuples in Python?

  I'm a newb to Python so apologies in advance if my question looks trivial. From a psycopg2 query i have a result in the form of a list of tuples looking like: [(1, 0), (1, 0), (1, 1), (2, 1), (2, 2), (2, 2), (2, 2)] Each tuple represents id of a location where event happened and hour of the day when event took place. I'd like to reshape and aggregate this list with subtotals for each hour in each location, to a form where it looks like: [(1, 0, 2), (1, 1, 1), (1, 2, 0), (2, 0, 0), (2, 1, 1), (2, 3, 3)] Where each touple will now tell me that, for example: in location 1, at hour 0 there were 2 events; in location 1, at hour 1 there was 1 event; and so on... If there were 0 events at certain hour, I still would like to see it, as for example 0 events at 0 hours in location 2: (2, 0, 0) How could I implement it in Python?

• Upgrading a dual-boot system HDD

  I dual-boot my laptop due to lousy VM performance, and have a new 500GB/7200rpm drive coming in to replace the stock 320GB/5400rpm drive. I have the drive set up in three partitions: one for the Win7 system files, one for storage, and the third as the ext4 Linux file system. The system file and storage partitions are both NTFS. What I'm planning to do is use the system image creator built in Win7, then move that over to the new drive. However, how can I migrate the Ubuntu partition, and how do I make sure that the Grub bootloader isn't overwritten by the Windows loader?

• How to automate testing of a browser-based app?

  If it were a windows program, I would use Auto it to automate testing. Is there something similar for browser-based apps? Nothing too complex, it should just allow scripting (preferable for me to macro-recording) to simulate human interaction with the browser, which means being able to identify fields of a form by name, inject text into some, simulate mouse-click on others, etc and then, after submitting a form, should be able to read text certain named controls, check the status of others (checked, radio group index, read-only, etc). While I do appreciate a full featured product, I don't appreciate a steep learning curve. so something as simple as the scripting of Auto It woudl be fine. I don't know if it makes a difference which browser is used, but I could live with MSIE 6 or higher (maybe 7 or higher at a push).

• JQuery Validation Plugin not working when used on page that includes another page via AJAX

  We have a long page that contains a bunch of different form elements. One part of the form is called remotely via AJAX and is populated in an empty div. This is the part which JQuery Validation plugin is not working correctly on. We have class="required" on the elements on this page, but they do not show up as required. I'm guessing it's because the Validation plugin is looking for class="required" on our main page, and since the content from the AJAX page is put into the empty div behind the scenes, it's not detected the required fields. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What are the primary selling points of this build technique? The ones I have so far: Eases the process of distributing and importing shared modules, especially version upgrades. Requires the dependencies of shared modules to be precisely documented. Removes shared modules from source control, speeding and simplifying checkouts/check ins (when you have applications with 20+ libraries this is a real factor). Allows more control or awareness of what third party libs are used in your organization. Are there any selling points that I'm missing? Are there any studies or articles giving improvement metrics?

• Managing several custom content types from one module(drupal)

  Is it possible to declare and manage several custom content types inside one module? I'm creating a site that needs four custom content types and I'd like to manage them from one module instead of creating module for every content type. After some testing, I found out that it seems impossible. Because, unless hook_form and content type share the same name of module, drupal doesn't call hook_form. I have a form generated here: <%= form_tag towns_path, :method => "get" do %> <%= label_tag :name, "Search for:" %> <%= text_field_tag :name, params[:name] %> <%= submit_tag "Search" %> <% end %> Then in my routes: get "towns/autocomplete_town_name" get "home/autocomplete_town_name" match 'towns' => 'towns#index' match 'towns/:name' => 'towns#index' resources :towns, :module => "town" resources :businesses, :module => "business" root :to => "home#index" So why when submitting the form do I get the URL: /towns?utf8=?&name=townname&commit=Search So the question is how do I make that url into a clean url like: /towns/townname Thanks, Andrew

  I need to create an input form that will allow a user to enter any number of values for a particular attribute. I've tried several approaches, all of which seem to have various levels of failure. The latest model bean looks something like: public class Product { private String name; private String[] tags; ...accessors... } The input fields look something like: <h:inputText id="name" value="#{product.name}"></h:inputText> <h:inputText id="tag0" value="#{product.tag[0]}"></h:inputText> My plan was to allow the user is to use javascript to add additional form fields as needed. This type of setup gives me a 'Target Unreachable' error. What am I missing? I am using JSF 1.1 on WebSphere 6.1

• Invalid Cross-Thread Operations from BackgroundWorker2_RunWorkerCompleted in C#

  Hello. I'm getting an error that does not make sense. Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'buttonOpenFile' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on. In my application, the UI thread fires off backgroundWorker1, which when almost complete fires off backgroundWorker2 and waits for it to complete. backgroundWorker1 waits for backgroundWorker2 to complete, before it completes. AutoResetEvent variables are used to flag when each of the workers complete. In backgroundWorker2_RunWorkerComplete a function is called that resets the form controls. It is in this ResetFormControls() function where the exception is thrown. I thought it was safe to modify form controls in the RunWorkerCompleted function. Both background workers are instantiated from the UI thread.   Hi all I've inherited a Joomla 1.5 site and I am trying to find a Joomla component that will let me add a signup/prizedraw page where people can also recommend the compo to a friend in the one form. Basically 1 - email to go out to our existing database asking them to recommend a friend for the chance to win x prize 2 – they are directed to the form on the website where they enter their details for the prize draw and also have the option to enter a few friends email addresses 3 – the recommender is entered into the draw (signed up), while the recommended friends get a princes square email saying ‘you have been recommended by....to receive exclusive offers etc etc.. click here to enter.   hi, i have a form with 2 fields username: password: and a submit button. the user will enter his username and password for a remote website(not my website or my domain. eg. Gmail.com). i want once he click the submit button.a jQuery script check these login info on gmail.com and return back the result.they are wrong or working logins. and notify the user if it is wrong logins but if it is good working login info the form will submit. i don't know much jQuery but i am good with php. my search find that in order to do that i need to make cross-domain scripting by using php proxy between my jQuery script and the remote domain. i found also the simple php proxy. which looks great.but i dont know how to make the jQuery thing that connects all this together.

  I am interested in how each individual smart phone is allowed to handle data transfers within a third-party app. I am interested in designing apps that allow customers to update, transfer, download, etc. data from their smart phone to their personal computer and vice-versa. (Ranging from just text, to XML, to a Relational Database) I only have experience with the Ipod Touch before and one particular app that maintained all the data on an online server, so to update the data on your pc or iphone you had to go online, are there other ways to do it? Like bluetooth, wireless LAN, USB, etc? I believe Apple has certain policies on this in order to control the App Store and individual Iphones. I suppose each company has a particular policy on how an app is allowed to transfer data to another system, does anyone have a good understanding of this? Thank you.
