  I need to parse a file line by line on given rules. Here is a requirement. file can have multiple lines with different data.. 01200344545143554145556524341232131 1120034454514355414555652434123213101200344545143554145556524341232131 2120034454514 and rules can be like this. if byte[0,1] == "0" then extract this line to /tmp/record0.dat if byte[0,1] == "1" then extract this line to /tmp/record1.dat if byte[0,1] == "2" then extract this line to /tmp/record2.dat I am looking for any language which can do this in a fast manner with a very long file size like 2 GB. • Creating Pages with unique PageMaps

  I have a wicket Application that has long lived Pages. I would like each instance of this Page to be created with a unique PageMap for reasons I won't get into here, but when I try to specify a PageMap on the constructor of my Page I end up getting OOM and StackOverflow errors. Here is the code: public <CTOR>() { super(Session.get().newPageMap("" + System.currentTimeMillis())); ... I'm using a custom BookmarkablePageLink (custom in that it does not pass on the current PageMap name to the new Page) to effectively abandon the old Page/PageMap and create a new one with a new PageMap. The errors seem to be coming from page serialization after only two or three pages have been created. Can anyone find issue with this approach?

• UIActionsSheet text shadow problem

  I have a problem with the text shadow of the UIActionSheet buttons. At iOS 4.0.2 long string were truncated automatically. No at iOS 4.2 these texts are presented with a smaller font. But now the offset of the shadow is corrupted and to big. Is there a possibility to change/remove the text shadow of the UIActionSheet. EDIT: I'm building the UIActionSheet not with initWithTitle:, but with the normal init and sets all needed properties afterwards because the number of possible buttons is dynamic and the texts cannot be change. I've tested it with initWithTitle: and got the same results.

• delete all records except the id I have in a python list

  Hi all, I want to delete all records in a mysql db except the record id's I have in a list. The length of that list can vary and could easily contain 2000+ id's, ... Currently I convert my list to a string so it fits in something like this: cursor.execute("""delete from table where id not in (%s)""",(list)) Which doesn't feel right and I have no idea how long list is allowed to be, .... What's the most efficient way of doing this from python? Altering the structure of table with an extra field to mark/unmark records for deletion would be great but not an option. Having a dedicated table storing the id's would indeed be helpful then this can just be done through a sql query... but I would really like to avoid these options if possible. Thanks,

• Is modifying a file without writing a new file possible in c++?

  Let's say I have a text file that is 100 lines long. I want to only change what is in the 50th line. One way to do it is open the file for input and open a new file for output. Use a for-loop to read in the first half of the file line by line and write to the second file line by line, then write what I want to change, and then write out the second half using a for-loop again. Finally, I rename the new file to overwrite the original file. Is there another way besides this? A way to modify the contents in the middle of a file without touching the rest of the file and without writing everything out again? If there is, then what's the code to do it?

  Hi guys. Long time viewer, first time question asker. I'm trying to have my personal website parse through my mail box for attachments from a certain subscription list, and then be able to view the PDF attachments as images, preferably jpg. With the help of this: http://www.linuxscope.net/articles/mailAttachmentsPHP.html I'm currently using imap_base64() to decode the MIME data and create the PDF. However, I hate using PDF readers in general and I thought it would be a lot more streamlined if I could just view it as an image instead. I've heard for convert with ImageMagick, but would I need to actually write the PDF to a directory before using this, or can I convert somehow directly from the MIME data in the email? Since the content looses quickly it's 'freshness' (news broadcasts...), it is crucial to be able to have new content available ASAP. • Trying to get excel 2003 into already made windows form

  good afternoon everyone :) I got sucha dilemma! (hate being new at stuff!) What my problem is is that I have a project that is in full design mode swing right now. I built it using the Windows form.. Anyways, on one of my forms..that I already started building (very painstakingly).. Minds have changed and now what needs to be on that form is either a full excel 2003 workbook..or at the very least..excel worksheet. The problem is that I have not been using studio 2008 for long..and coding experience shows the same. Can someone please tell me how the heck I can put a worksheet or a workbook on that form without starting my whole project over using office forms?   friends, I have to trouble you as I couldn't find a solution after trying for a long time. I have 3 columns of data. x, y, and the stress value (S) at every point (x, y). I want to generate a 2D color plot displaying continuous color change with the magnitude of the stress (S). The stress values increase from -3*10^4 Pa to 4*10^4 Pa.   I'm writing code using Twisted, and having trouble coming up with a sensible variable name for my twisted internet deferred's. Here are my candidates: d : Too generic, too short, violates pylint rule C0103. def : Conflicts with function defintion builtin. defer : Conflicts with module twisted.internet.defer deferred : OK but pretty long cb : Still too short, violates pylint C0103, conflicts with many callback method names. cback : Too Weird? callback : Conflicts with method Deferred.callback() I'm looking for other suggestions. It seems like most of the Twisted example code uses "d" which is fine for simple invocations, but when you're passing Deferred's around to methods and storing them as member variables, it's really far too descriptive.

• Building ffmpeg with an executable output

  I generally don't like to ask such "you figure it out for me" questions, but I suspect this one will be really simple for a C++ guru. I want to build ffmpeg for Android, and I'd like it to output an executable rather than a set of libraries. We've been using the guardian project's build: https://github.com/guardianproject/android-ffmpeg It does produce what we want, but I've found tweaking it for different architectures to be, at best, unpleasant. I've gotten this version to build: https://github.com/appunite/AndroidFFmpeg It does a nice job of slicing and dicing different architectures, but produces a jni version. There is a long story as to why I want the exe, but I'll skip it for now. Is there a flag that needs to be flipped? Some path or other setting? I am at this point fully baffled. Thanks in advance.

• C++11: thread_local or array of OpenCL 1.2 cl_kernel objects?

  I need to run several C++11 threads (GCC 4.7.1) parallely in host. Each of them needs to use a device, say a GPU. As per OpenCL 1.2 spec (p. 357): All OpenCL API calls are thread-safe75 except clSetKernelArg. clSetKernelArg is safe to call from any host thread, and is safe to call re-entrantly so long as concurrent calls operate on different cl_kernel objects. However, the behavior of the cl_kernel object is undefined if clSetKernelArg is called from multiple host threads on the same cl_kernel object at the same time. An elegant way would be to use thread_local cl_kernel objects and the other way I can think of is to use an array of these objects such that i'th thread uses i'th object. As I have not implemented these earlier I was wondering if any of the two are good or are there better ways of getting things done. TIA, S

Class A{ private B b; } Class B{ private C c; } Class C{ private Long val; } assume these are the hibernate persistence classes i am not writing all annotations of mapping with database. now my problem is i want to retrieve results of Class A according to the value of Class C's val property. i tried to fetch it using, Criteria c = Restrictions.eq("b.c.val", value); List l = c.list; it shows could not resolve property. i searched and came to know criteria wont work up to this much depth. i don't want shift to HQL. any idea??

  I would like to send a html string with a GET request like this with Apaches HttpClient: http://sample.com/?html=<html><head>... This doesnt work at the moment, i think its an encoding problem. Do you have any ideas how to do that? method.setQueryString(new NameValuePair[] {new NameValuePair("report", "<html>....")}); client.executeMethod(method) This fails with org.apache.commons.httpclient.NoHttpResponseException: The server localhost failed to respond. If i replace "<html>" by "test.." it works fine. EDIT It seams to be a problem of URL length after encoding, the server doesnt except such long URls. Sending it as POST solves the problem.

My question is: I have three huge static arrays defined inside a header file. Someone told me that It's much better to declare them as extern in the header file, and define them in a single C or C++ source file. How can I do that? We need fast (for development and running) app, which users are admins, mainteners and account managers. There is two GUI toolkit for python, which we know: wxPython and pyQT.   Using Xcode, I've written a Cocoa Touch static library, mainly in C++. It exposes a C interface for the benefit of Objective-C client code. I have a client iOS app that uses it, and everything works and runs as expected, except that I found I needed to include a minimal .cpp file in the client project to get the link to succeed. Otherwise I get C++-related unresolved symbols, e.g. operator new(unsigned long). The above hack is easy and effective, and so I guess I'm not breaking any laws, but is there a proper way to eliminate my linker errors?

• Hyperlinks in VS2008 Test Result Details

  In case when resulting string in "Test Result Details" (TRD) is very long, the Visual Studio 2008 crashes. I fixed this by sending the result data into a file. There is a problem, however, because there isn't a simple way to open such file. Of course, I can manually open folder and then the file, but it isn't very efficient. Now, to the questions part. Is there a possibility to include in the "Error Message" part of TRD a hyperlink to a file? (something similar to what we can already find in the stack trace part) If not, is there any way to add such functionality (easy opening of a file) to TRD? If not, are there any ways to expand the default reporting of VS? Thanks for any help.

• Removing groups of similar records in MySQL query

  I'm trying to wrap my head around this... (it may be simple, been a long day!) I have a database with sometimes multiple similar records... ie. Apples 2008-09-03 Apples 2012-01-01 Apples 2013-10-24 Oranges 2012-01-04 What I need to do is do a query that will show only records that haven't been updated today... So in this case, since Apples has an entry that was updated today, none of the records for the Apples should appear in the results. Oranges should be the only record it returns. I have a query similar to this... SELECT fruit FROM fruitnames where date < CURDATE() Which works to remove the record that was updated today... But it keeps the other records for Apples (obviously)... How would I remove those results as well?

• Putting li's into rows

  I have a long list of li's. <ul> <li> <img src="test.jpg"> </li> <li> <img src="test.jpg"> </li> //etc Each li has this styling: width: 10%; display: inline-block; vertical-align: middle; When I get to more than 10 li's in a row, they go on to the next row. Is this the correct way to do it? or should I wrap each 10 li's into something that breaks the line? What the best/correct method? i intialy chose this method as it would be easily to loop out data from a database.

• How do include paths work in Visual Studio?

  Visual Studio drives me crazy and I am suspecting I am doing something wrong. This is what I do: I installed Visual Studio (Pro '08) a long time ago, I installed the Windows SDK (Win 7 x64), someone emails me a project, it fails to build. Invariably, it can not find windows.h. While it is easy enough to include C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0\Include in the project settings of every single project, I feel that this may not be the proper way to do it. Is there a way to somehow make Visual Studio globally aware of these files? I also tried to include the above directory in the path variable but that didn't change anything. Also, it will randomly find windows.h but not winresrc.h in the same directory.
