• Auto-connect Bluetooth headphones in Windows 7 64bit

  I have a pair of bluetooth headphones that I've successfully paired with my Windows 7 64bit machine and audio plays through them without a hitch. On the Device Stage under the properties of the headphones in troubleshooting it shows "last connected" as "currently connected" even if I power cycle the headphones or after a reboot of my computer. So the Windows bluetooth stack has no trouble finding them. The problem I have is that whenever the headphones reconnect to my pc they show up as disconnected in the Sound Settings and no sound is routed to them until I manually connect them. I have to go into Sound Settings, then from the Playback tab right click on the headphones and choose the Connect option. Is there a way to make the Sound Settings connect automatically whenever the headphones are available to Windows?

• Missing swf plugin in Google Chrome [Ubuntu]

  How to play .swf file in Google Chrome? Because when I open .swf files it says Missing Plug-in. though when I open chrome://plugins it shows that it has Shockwave Flash plugin installed already. My OS is Ubuntu 10 and would be happy if some linux geek could suggest me solution of my problem. Thanks and sorry for stupid question. The primary requiremen is that I need to be able to forward ports to my desktop. How would I achieve this? Is there something like "double port forwarding"? • Is there any way to use devices like mp3 players when they are charging?

  The question is simple I think. All we have encounter gagets that they don't fuction while they are in charge, like cameras or mp3 players. But, we know that cell phones or laptops can have full function, when they charge with a charger, like USB connector. Is it in the programming? Why this happens? Can we change that with some device e.g. controlling the charging? I want to use a portable USB charger for my mp3, but I can't wait 3 hours for it to charge, because I cannot listen to music. It notices the charger, and gets in charge mode. Nothing functions until I unplug it. Thanks a lot

• How do I disable microphone volume auto-adjusting?

  My coworkers started yelling at me today because apparently I started screaming in their ears during a Google hangout. And sure enough, when I go to the Microphone settings dialog, I can see the level being auto-adjusted constantly; sometimes way too high. I don't think this has happened previously; at least nobody ever complained. Can I find out who is doing that auto-adjusting, and more importantly, can I turn it off? I couldn't find any related setting in the recording device settings. I'm using Windows 7 64bit, and (I'm mentioning this because the theory has come up that it may be related) I don't have Skype running.

• wifi connection turns off oll the time

  Hello! I realy need help with one strange problem. I have a wifi network in my appartment with wireless N home router Trendnet tew-652BRP. Everething work fine for three of my laptops, but I have one PC with D-Link DWA-140 adapter. It looses connection 2-3 times in 5 minutes. There is following messages in my system log when it does so: The browser has forced an election on network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{9537A5C1-3B43-4C56-B94C-CE69A257C3AD} because a master browser was stopped. The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service was successfully sent a stop control. The reason specified was: 0x40030011 [Operating System: Network Connectivity (Planned)] Comment: None The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service entered the stopped state. in order of appearence. How can I stop it? I have the latest driver installed.

  Recently i installed GRUB2, everything is working fine. When my system is started my monitor is showing something like the following "Minimal BASH-Like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible completions of a device/filename." Press "Esc" key to enter the menu. Boot windows... and when i press the Esc key it then shows the GRUB2 menu showing list of operating systems installed on my system How the remove "Minimal BASH-Like line editing ...." text. I only need this line Press "Esc" key to enter the menu. Boot windows... Note: Both my WindowsXP and Fedora12 are working fine and loading with no problem.

• My Network adapter "D-Link DWA-547" is causing windows 7 to freeze up.

  Any audio playing, and sometimes the program i am using is constantly stuttering and freezing up. I have narrowed the offending hardware down to my: D-Link DWA-547 RangeBooster N650 Desktop Adapter If i disable it in the device manager everything runs fine and smooth. The card works, and gives me super fast internet. But the rest of the system hangs. I have tried installing the card with the drivers from the cd that came with it, i also tried the lates beta drivers from the d-link webpage, but the problem persists. What do i do? I am running windows 7 x64 on a asus p5b motherboard with 2 intel processors.

• What SATA drive should I install FreeBSD onto? i.e. ar0 vs da0 vs ad4/5

  I'm installing FreeBSD 8.0 on a server that has hardware SATA Raid. I'm just wondering. What is the difference between these devices. i.e. ar0, da0, ad4, ad5 I take it that ad4 & 5 are my two disks. Somehow the OS can see them individually even though it's one logical mirrored drive. Should I be installing it onto ar0 or one of the adX disks. What is da0? it's smaller than the others. ar0 is not some kind of software raid device is it? Just want to make sure I don't mess this up right from the get go.

  I just got Lexmark X4550 wireless printer and want to have it installed on my laptop Windows 7 Beta. I have installed using Lexmark drivers and doing a "add a printer" device search. But when I tried to print a document i got an error message: "Communication not available. The printer cannot communicate with the computer...". • Is the iPad in Europe totally unblocked?

  One fast question: if I buy an iPad 3G in Europe will it work on other places without jailbreak? I ask this because I heard that, in Europe, iPads are not blocked to any telecom but I am not sure about that. On the other hand I am afraid do buy because I know that their cousins, iphones, are blocked to a specific telecom. Another question is regarding activation. As far as I remembered, my iPhone required me to do an activation step on iTunes and I remember it was also activated (or whatever) on the store (I remembered the salesman connected it to a computer and did some stuff before giving me the device). Is the iPad in europe totally free of operator? totally unblocked? thanks.

  In a VOIP application, I have upto 3000 clients rsync audio files from there linux server in a daily, server is placed at a data center (10Mbps in/out bound), the server works as a VOIP sip server running FreeSWITCH (low ping latency should be ensured.) Therefore I would like to have server side control of rsync which controls: Limit total outbound bandwidth. Limit total number of connections. (Reject clients while at max number of connection and let it retry after a specific time frame.) OPTIONAL: list/kill individual connections. Normally I would use ssh + rsync + pem_keys with some extra options, but above requirements are not feasible by simple command lines. Can anyone point me some direction. or show some scripts/tools? I would also probably integrate them and release on github. Thanks!

  I just installed Debian Wheezy on my homeserver. I want to assign 2 ip's to it on the same network interface, 1 static ip (eth0) and 1 dynamic ip (eth0:1). I know it doesn't make much sense but I need it to test something. I edited my /etc/network/interfaces to be like this: auto lo eth0 eth0:1 iface lo inet loopback iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.178.240 network 192.168.178.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.178.255 gateway 192.168.178.1 iface eth0:1 inet dhcp when I bring up eth0:1 (ifup eth0:1) I get the following error (eth0 works fine) Bind socket to interface: No such device Failed to bring up eth0:1. is it even possible to have a dynamic and static ip on the same network adapter?

I'm trying to get a startup script requiring user input running before gdm starts (the script should allow me to choose from a list of xorg.conf's the one I'd like to use for the current session). Already tried creating a pregdm.conf in /etc/init, containing: start on filesystem stop on runlevels [06] # ... console output script # script that uses read to gather user input and replaces xorg.conf with the selected one end script and changing start on in /etc/init/gdm.conf to: start on (filesystem and started dbus and started pregdm and (drm-device-added card0 PRIMARY_DEVICE_FOR_DISPLAY=1 or stopped udevtrigger)) Echos are displayed in console but I can't make it wait for user input: gdm is started straight away. • OpenBSD Routing Problem

  I am running OpenBSD on a network appliance hardware. It has 5 NICs. I want to give different IP's in same subnet to 3 nics. Eg: em0: 192.168.1.5 em1: 192.168.1.90 em2: 192.168.1.56 I make the necessary configuration with ifconfig, all interfaces works as expected when all the ethernet ports are plugged in to switch. But there is something wrong in routing. If I connect to 192.16.1.5 via any service(http, smtp etc.), traffic goes over link#3. If I unpug the cable from em2 I can't reach any IP's binded on device. Is there any way to route traffic over different links in this IP configuration?

• Key Repeat no longer works on Windows 7 Lenovo Windows 700 laptop

  The title pretty much sums up my problem. I can type fine, but holding down the key doesn't repeat, including the arrow keys which is super-annoying. "Filter Keys" in the Ease of access center is not turned on, so that's not the problem. Any ideas? UPDATE Also, the numeric keypad on the right is not working at all -- not just that it won't repeat, but there is no response at all to the numbers, the enter key, the numlk key. The purple Fn+NumLk which usually opens the calc program doesn't work. It's like it's totally disconnected.

• Windows Server Configuration Management Best Practices

  Chef/Pupper/Ansible are cool and all, but they are second-class citizens on Windows at best. We have a bunch of "snowflake" (one of a kind) machines (baremetal and virtual) that nobody really know what's going on with. What I want is to start establishing basic configuration management for said servers, starting from installing Windows, installing and enabling various Roles and Features, setting up Services, Shares, Users and deploying webapps. PowerShell DSC looks promising, but it's not yet here and appears to be over-engineered, Puppet and the like are again not first-class. There's a bunch of tooks and TLAs like Windows ADK, DISM, OCSetup, etc. and it seems to me that the "Configuration Management" story on Windows is not precisely rainbows and unicorns. What I want is a Puppet/Chef-like, lightweight tool (no System Center Configuration Management, please) which would allow us to "version-control our server infrastructure" and bring all the benefits of CM. So, where do I look for the tool that does this kind of thing?

• Having problems with Grub2 booting Ubuntu from my External Hard Drive

  I installed Ubuntu on my external hard drive but it won't boot on my laptop. what do i do? i did some reading and traced the source of the problem to grub2. Apparently, grub2 doesn't use the device's UUID, and uses the linux directory instead (/dev/sdf2). This means that whenever i plug my E-HDD into a system that has a different number of drives connected to it, i won't be able to boot without editting the boot command. I don't understand it too well but that's what i got from what i read. Is there anyway to fix this?

• ACHI drivers for W8.1 with amd

  I hope you can help me... I just installed a SSD (Samsung EVO 840) and windows 8.1 pro in my pc with M5A99X EVO ( chipset AMD 990X/SB950 ) motherboard. The SSD is installed in sata3 socket using a sata3 wire. The AHCI mode is ON in the bios. I configured the ahci controller and now device administrator looks like this: All works, but the speed of the SDD is very slow (like a HDD). Samsung magician doesn't recognize the sata mode neither the ahci. I tried to install more drivers but the system broke and I need to reinstall windows :( I tried many things from the web, but any works: Modify windows registy Use compatibility mode Modify the amd drivers and install it unsigned Thank you for your time!! • VPS hang when one Virtual CPU usage is 100%

  We are using Xen Center to manage all of our cPanel VPS servers. The hardware has two CPUs(Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU [email protected]) and 32GB memory. Each hardware has 4 cPanel VPS and each VPS has 8GB memory and 4 Virtual CPUS. Every one or two months, one of the VPS server will hang because one Virtual CPU usage is 100% and it couldn't release the CPU unless we use force reboot. We have 10 similar hardware, and this cause our server down almost every day. We have tried to avoid the Statistics Processing and Fantastico update during the night, but the problem still happens randomly. I can not find anything in the server log when it hangs. Any clue? • Deploying a Windows 7 image, which way is the fastest?

  I captured an image of a basic Windows 7 installation with some modifications using imagex. Before the image was captured, I ran sysprep generalizing and selecting to enter OOBE after it's done. Which way would be the fastest to deploy that image again? Using imagex /apply. Or naming the image install.wim and put it in the source folder of a normal installation (on a bootable USB device), running a normal setup afterwards. Currently I have only tried the second approach. However I just found out about the imagex way and wondered if it would be faster. Or are the even more methods that would be better?

• duplicate video stream using a router (?)

  I have a viedo stream coming from one site, I want to do the following with the minimum delay possible: I want to duplicate the stream (inside the router - preferred) and send it to a few more locations one of them is local network and the rest - on other networks. I want to be able to do it to several streams simultaneously. Is it possible to do this - using network devices only ? What device is capable to do this ? (I can always record the stream and rebroadcast it - but that's a lot of delay, I'm looking for functionality that similar to port duplicating, but on higher layers). Thanks.
