  • Convert large raster graphics image(bitmap, PNG, JPEG, etc) to non-vector postscript in C#

    How to convert an large image and embed it into postscript? I used to convert the bitmap into HEX codes and render with colorimage. It works for small icons but I hit a /limitcheck error in ghostscript when I try to embed little larger images. It seem there is a memory limit for bitmap in ghostscript. I am looking a solution which can run without 3rd party/pre-processing other then ghostscript itself.

    Hi, I have to manage XML documents and Strings in my app. In terms of efficiency and memory usage, will a collection like ArrayList be much more expensive than String[]? Also, I could store the content as a regular String or XML. Is working with XML also more expensive? (When I say expensive, I am referring to the use of system resources.)   • How to avoid maximum Workgroup Manager connections in Mac OS X Server 10.6

    Is there a limit on the Mac OS X Server (10.6) Workgroup Manager in respect to concurrent connections to a server? I have an OS X server up and running and Open Directory configured but I am not able to log in remotely as I get the message the maximum number of connections for Workgroup Manager is already reached and I should wait for a user to disconnect. Even after a restart I get this message remotely. However, locally on the server I can start Workgroup Manager without any issues. It always lets me connect. Any advice what I need to do to make Workgroup Manager work from a remote location? I could not find any max connection setting in Server-Admin and nothing in the slapd log files. The server license says unlimited so I am quite sure it should not be a regular error message that indicates to me I should upgrade.

  • 8GB Compact Flash Corrupted, Boot Sector Lost ?

    I have an 8GB Kingston compact Flash, and when I insert it into my mac it says that card is unredable and ask me for initialization. If i open Utilty Disk it show a card of 2,2 TB Generic Comact Flash, if I try to initialize that it give me error: POSIX reports: impossible to allocate memory. How i can format that ? There's a way with fdisk or smt to get this card work ? Thanks

    I'm developing a web application that connects to an IMAP mailbox and fetches emails as part of it's functionality. However now that I've put the app on my web hosts server I'm getting the following error: Cannot connect to Gmail: Can't connect to gmail-imap.l.google.com,993: Connection timed out After checking with my hosting provider they told me outgoing connections on port 993 are blocked. Is there anyway around this? Otherwise I need to upgrade to a dedicated server :S

    I have an Ubuntu 11.10 server that has been up for 210 days. I have been frequently doing apt-get upgrade every few weeks, and this time I noticed that my server load average just shot up. The last time this happened between upgrades, it was because the cpu scaling governor was set to ondemand. But this time when I tried to list the contents of /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor the file is missing. There isn't even a cpufreq folder anymore! How do I fix this and ensure there is no cpu scaling going on?

  • It is possible to use the Exchange 2010 web client with an Exchange 2007 mail server?

    We are evaluating our options to upgrade our Windows SBS 2003 server. We are considering Windows SBS 2008, which comes with Exchange 2007 and an extra Windows Server 2008 Standard license. If we also bought Exchange 2010, could we install it on the Windows Server 2008 Standard machine and use the web client in combination with the Exchange 2007 server (that would be hosting the mailboxes)? Is that a supported server role for Exchange 2010? I remember reading about so called front-end server configurations, but I have no experience with that. Thanks!

  • Is it possible to install Windows Server 2012 on a Dell PowerEdge with PERC S100 card?

    According to Dell's own website, the Windows Server 2012 media driver "inbox" does not contain drivers for the Perc S100 controller that is in a Dell PowerEdge T110 II server we'd like to evaluate with Server 2012. I have found drivers only for Server 2008 R2, which is what the server is currently running. Is it possible to upgrade this server? (Booting up the Server 2012 DVD image leads to the expected result that it can not locate the system's hard drives or its hard drive controller card, as the drivers for the PERC S100 are not on the installation DVD image.)

    I currently have Windows 8 32-bit installed from MSDN (I didn't realise at the time that my processor supports 64-bit). I understand that you can't upgrade within Windows 32-bit to 64-bit directly from the ISO. I have burned the ISO to a DVD, and have attempted booting from this drive. The problem I am encountering: The operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors. File: CI.dll Error code: 0xc0000221 You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.   • Installing Sharepoint 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2

    we are using in our lab a clean installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 which is running as Hyper-V instance. Today we wanted to install a clean installation of Sharepoint 2007 with SP1 on this machine and we explorer an error that we are not able to install it. The setup is comes up with an error which is described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962935 but this is not our szenario. Nobody is going be happy with this solution and I hope we find a fast way how customers can install Sharepoint direclty on 2008 R2. Anyway, thanks in advance for any further information how we should go on with this issue.   • If two separate PATH directories contain a same-named executable, how does Windows choose?

    I'm in the process of upgrading PEAR (PHP) on my system. The upgrade script is encouraging me to add "..\PHP\PEAR" to my PATH so that I can use "pear.bat". However, I already am able to use pear.bat. Looking in my PATH, I see that I don't have any PEAR directories, only my PHP directory. Opening my PHP directory, I see that there's a "pear.bat" in the base. But there's also a pear.bat in the PEAR subfolder of PHP. I'm wondering if I borked a PEAR install. I digress. So if I leave ..\PHP in my path, but also add ..\PHP\PEAR -- both of which have a "pear.bat" in them -- which one will Windows "choose"? How does Windows decide?

    I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate over my existing Windows 7 Professional. I downloaded the ISO from Microsoft and burned the install disc at the slowest speed possible (x3). I booted to the DVD, but at the second screen I am already getting an error! That screen I am choosing between "Upgrade" and "Custom". I am trying to choose "Custom" but then I get the error: Windows installation encountered an unexpected error. Verify that the installation sources are accessible, and restart the installation.     Sound in Ubuntu, it has its own special joy. I would like my external microphone to work. Symptoms: I can play sound through the speakers I can play sound through the headsets. Plugging and and plugging headphone output correctly switches. I can record from the built-in microphone, using "Sound Recorder" and others. but: I cannot record from the external microphone. My Sound Preferences/Input panel has no option for an external microphone. If the answer is upgrade the ALSA drivers, please say exactly what to type. By equivalent, I mean fast and memory efficient (Python's itertools module is written in C).

  • syntax error: unknown user 'munin' in statoverride file

    Server running Ubuntu 12.04 lts I installed munin the other day on a server. I decided later to remove it with apt-get. I noticed that not everything was removed from the installation so manually removed the munin web directory and also removed the munin user-name and group from the sever. However I have just now tried to run apt-get upgrade which is now returning an error: dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting: syntax error: unknown user 'munin' in statoverride file E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2) I am now out of my depth. What does this mean? Google results have not really been helpful. Can anyone help? Thanks, John

  • Unicorn 3 throwing tons of errors (Rails 3.0.3, Unicorn 3.0)

    I just tried to upgrade to Unicorn 3.0. I changed my Gemfile and did a bundle install. When restarting my Unicorn I got tons of errors beginning with: Unhandled listen loop exception #<Errno::ENOSYS: Function not implemented - accept>. /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/unicorn-3.0.0/lib/unicorn/http_server.rb:593:in `kgio_tryaccept' I’m on Ubuntu 10.04. And, can anyone explain to me why the heck I can’t use an older version of a Gem than the most recent installed? After getting the errors above I just changed the version number of Unicorn in my Gemfile to 1.1.4. But this didn’t solve the problem, Ruby told me that You have already activated unicorn 3.0.0, but your Gemfile requires unicorn 1.1.4. Consider using bundle exec. (Gem::LoadError) Do I really have to? Thanks in advance for your help, guys.
