• How can I find out why a website looks different when I upload it to IIS ?

  Good day... I've been working on a website project, that requires to be on a Microsoft IIS Web Server. It is HTML, pure HTML, with really nice CSS, web-standards, etc. I open this website using in my computer, using Firefox, IE 8.0, Safari, Google Chrome and it looks fine everywhere. But as I upload it to the Microsoft IIS server, it changes a few things. for example: the main menu, which is a navigation bar that has dropdowns, seems to change it's line-height for some reason, and it is bigger. Some <h3> or <h2> Alignment seems wrong as well... And the lines that are supposed to surround the photographs in the website (like a frame - dotted line) won't appear. But all the rest of the CSS is loading perfectly fine. I don't think it's a path problem as everything is loading fine. But this is making me look bad and it is very important to have this done as soon as possible. Can someone give me good suggestions on what to look at ? The IIS permissions seem fine. I'm not a big Microsoft fan...but I have to develop the website there. Also, I uploaded the site to my apache server and it worked wonders. I wish I could change the policies in this corporation, but I can't. Thank you so much for your kind help.

• CustomValidatation control that fire on multiple control events

  I am trying to create a UserControl that is a composite control for entering Dates. It involves 2 drop down controls (one for month and one for day) and a text box for year. It also has a CustomValidation control that I would like the user of the UserControl to be able to set the ClientValidationFunction property and have it triggered whenever the value in any of the 3 date part controls changes. To hook up each of the 3 controls to the validation control, I use teh AJAX ValidatorHookupControlID method.   I'm trying to read up on asp.net mvc, I have never used asp.net before but are familiar with regular c# development. Freshly installed, fully patched Windows XP Home. Freshly installed updated to SP1 Visual Studio 2008 Pro. Started a new project, selected "ASP.NET MVC Web Application", target framework is 3.5 I hit F5 and I get: "Could not load file or assembly System.EnterpriseServices" Exact wording in swedish: [FileNotFoundException: Det går inte att hitta filen. (Undantag från HRESULT: 0x80070002)] [FileNotFoundException: Det går inte att läsa in filen eller sammansättningen System.EnterpriseServices, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a eller ett av dess beroenden. Det går inte att hitta filen.] Adding a reference to System.EnterpriseServices in my project did not work. A quick google suggested I copy this file Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727/System.EnterpriseServices.dll into %WINDOWS%/assembly but that did not work either. Any suggestions?   I've got some text which needs converting to use HTML entities, but it also contains tags. Here's a sample: <p>Ofcom issued the warning to Global-owned GWR in Bristol – which is required to operate as a "contemporary and chart music and information station" – for operating outside the music </p> The (" and -) need to be converted but the paragraph tags must remain HTML. Using something like htmlentities converts everything, how can I convert everything but the tags?

• C# compiler error CS0006: metadata file is not found

  I've built a c# compiler using the tutorial on MSDN and a few other resources including here, and I've gotten it to work until I add additional reference assemblies.   I have two scripts. One calls the other with a list of servers as parameters. The second query is designed to execute a WMI query. When I run it manually, it does this perfectly. When I try to run it as a job it hangs forever and I have to remove it.   When using PowerShell to extract information from TFS, I find that I can get at the standard fields but not "Custom" fields. I'm not sure custom is the correct term, but for example if I look at the Process Editor in VS2008 and edit the Work Item type, there are fields such as listed below, with Name, Type and RefName: Title String System.Title State String System.State Rev Integer System.Rev Changed By String System.ChangedBy I can access these with Get-TfsItemHistory: Get-TfsItemHistory "$/path" -Version "D01/12/10~" -R | Select -exp WorkItems | Format-Table Title, State, Rev, ChangedBy -Auto So far so good. However, there are also some other fields in the WorkItem type, which I'm calling "Custom" or non-System fields, e.g.: Activated By String Microsoft.VSTS.Common.ActivatedBy Resolved By String Microsoft.VSTS.Common.ResolvedBy And the following command does not retrieve the data, just spaces. Get-TfsItemHistory "$/path" -Version "D01/12/10~" -R | Select -exp WorkItems | Format-Table ActivatedBy, ResolvedBy -Auto I've also tried the names in quotes, the fully qualified refname, but no luck. How do you access these "non-System" fields? I am new to SP development, and am already bewildered by the number of different versions of SP, and the VS add-ons. This particular problem has come up, which highlights my confusion. • RSS feed generated by SharePoint has a stylesheet tag and how to remove that

  The feed which SharePoint Generates is here (I copied it to pastie because I thought it would be clear there) However, the xml file comes with a style sheet tag. How do I remove that? Does SharePoint always generate that? Due to the presence of that tag, I am unable to apply another style sheet of my own using the XML WebPart. EDIT: I don't think the issue is related to the style sheet. If I copy the xml and paste it in the "Xml Editor" of the Web Part everything works just fine. If I provide the URL, that is when I do not see any data. • What are useful functions for drawing text (MFC)?

  I'm creating a line chart control, and I need to write (or better say draw) the axis names and axis values. I found DrawText and TextOut functions, but the text they show is flickering and don't know how to set the font and text orientation (I will need vertical text orientation as well as horizontal). • How to determine if a registry key is redirected by WOW64?

  Is it possible to determine whether or not a given registry key is redirected? My problem is that I want to enumerate registry keys in both the 32-bit and 64-bit registry views in a generic manner from a 32-bit application. I could simply open each key twice, first with KEY_WOW64_64KEY and then with KEY_WOW64_32KEY. However, if the key is not redirected this gives you exactly the same key and you end up enumerating the exact same content twice; this is what I am trying to avoid. I did find some documentation on it, but it looks like the only way is to examine the hive and do a bunch of string comparisons on the key. Another possibility I thought of is to try to open Wow6432Node on each subkey; if it exists then the key must be redirected. I.e. if I am trying to open HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows I would try to open the following keys: HKCU\Wow6432Node, HKCU\Software\Wow6432Node, HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Wow6432Node, and HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Wow6432Node. Unfortunately, the documentation seems to imply that a child of a redirected key is not necessarily redirected so that route also has issues. So, what are my options here?

  Scenario: My installation of SQL Server 2008 Web Edition SP1 was working properly. Since I've recently joined Microsoft's Website Spark*, I removed SQL2008 and installed SQL 2008 again using my Website Spark edition and license from the MSDN download site. Next, I updated SQL 2008 to SP1 (this is required because I'm running Windows 2008 Server R2 Web edition). When I launch SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio), "User name" is "myhost\Administrator" and is greyed out so it can not be changed. When I installed my Website Spark version, I did not include "myhost\Administrator" when I was configuring SQL 2008 service accounts. Instead I created an administrator account "myhost\mySQLaccount". ERROR MESSAGE: Connect to Server (X) Cannot connect to (local) Additional information: Login failed for user 'myhost'Admistrator' (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18456) I tried to use the SQL Server Configuration Manager to correct this problem but could not find any useful way to fix this issue.   Hi, I am just starting on R - and have hit a bit of a deadlock with some time series data. I have a time series (date and value) in 'zoo' format, that I want to annotate with a cross when an event occurs. The events are irregular and in a csv format (just the dates, sometimes repeated). I've managed to read in the dates etc into a format that R accepts - but i cant seem to get a means to chart the main time series with the secondary events annotated on top?

  I'm developing an html editor using ComDlg32.ocx (Commom Dialog Control), using HTML and VBScript. My exact requirement was to prompt Open/Save/Color/Print/Font dialog boxes.Ive written code for prompting Save file dialog box. Also I've added a license file using LPK Tool onto my webpage.   Hi Guys, Ive got abit of a problem ive got an email web form that send the input to an email address but what I now need is a file input field were the user can also send an image as an attachment. So contact name, logo (attachment). Ive been told in order to send the attachment it needs to be saved in a folder on my hosting before it can be sent. Ive spoken to the hosting company and they dont have anything in place to make this easier such as aspupload. • LINQ to XML, a problem conceptualizing how the tree should look.

  Have you ever had one of those days when you've dug a hole but your so deep in now that the only option is to keep on digging and see where you come out? I thought just for giggles in the latest component I'm writing to use LINQ to XML because it was about time I saw what all the hooplah was about. The problem: I am making a graph component that contains series of data that get graphed and then you can apply a formula to that series and graph another series then apply a formula to that series and so on. So I figured that I would do so in 2 steps, create (and manage) an XML representaion of the series and how they relate to each other, then pass this xml to a draw engine which draws. Conceptually its a tree, with the exception of the root all child series being based upon a parent (1 parent can have many children. So I should always be adding child nodes to their parent and if I delete a node(series) then I can simply delete the series and its descendants (then draw) and voila all the messy iterating through each node finding parents and children is unneccessary. Trouble is I dont know how to represent this tree in XML i.e. the structure. My first attempt saw me programatically adding each series as siblings, which worked like a treat because I ended up with an ordered list and thus my order of rendering was maintained. I had this <Chart> <Series id="1">seriesText1</Series> <Series id="2">seriesText2</Series> <Series id="3">seriesText3</Series> <Series id="4">seriesText4</Series> </Chart> I'm in a muddle now ... how can I represent a series and a series that has children series. If some-one can give me a hint to how my tree should look (perhaps with a snippet on how to programatically add nodes to their parents) All the examples I have read usually have some container elements such as <ContactS> or <BookS> but my head says I have <series> some of them parent some of them children. Would appreciate a nudge in the right direction.
