  • Is it possible to use ActiveObjects (or another ORM) with an embedded database & JWS technology ?

    I would like to embed a database in my JWS application. As a matter of fact I have to use HSQL or SQLite. Hibernate may support (HSQL or SQLite, does it ?) but the workflow is rather complex for my application but maybe it's the way to go for my needs. In ActiveObjects database shoould be "linked" to by a path because of JDBC, but is it possible to specify a database that is inside a JAR and how ?

    By default settings are stored at: C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\<Project Name> How can I change this path to application directory. I also don't want to have different files for different users. How make the settings global? I tried to change the scope of the settings to "application" but then I cannot change them at runtime.

  • WPF binding not updating until after another action

    I have an observable collection bound to a listbox in WPF. One of the options in the window is to use an OpenFileDialog to add an item to the listbox with certain properties. When I use the OpenFileDialog it immeditaely sets two of the properties of the new item in the observable collection. I am using INotifyPropertyChanged to update the listbox. These two new properties are set correctly and now the listbox should display the title contained in the new title property and the title textbox which is bound to the listbox should display the new title as well. However, neither displays the new title upon the closing of the OpenFileDialog and when I click on another item in the listbox and come back to the item I have just changed it updates the title textbox but the title displayed in the list box is not changed until i move the item in the list box that I want to change. Here is the Binding code. ItemsSource="{Binding Path=MyData, Mode=TwoWay, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" And here is the implementation of the browse button that is not working (L1 being the listbox) private void browse_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { OpenFileDialog opf = new OpenFileDialog(); opf.ShowDialog(); MyData[L1.SelectedIndex].Title = System.IO.Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(opf.FileName); MyData[L1.SelectedIndex].Command = opf.FileName; } When I simply type in the text boxes and click out of them it updates the list box immediately with the new information I have put in. I also have a create new button and upon clicking it, it immediately adds a new item to the list box and updates its' properties. The only one that is not updating correctly is this peice of code I have given you. Thanks for your help. EDIT: Here is my implementation of INotifyPropertyChanged private OCLB _MyData; public OCLB MyData { get { return _MyData; } set { _MyData= value; FirePropertyNotifyChanged("MyData"); } } OCLB is the obserable collection. Here is the function FirePropertyNotifyChanged public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; private void FirePropertyNotifyChanged(string propertyName) { if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); } } Each of these are in the partial class MainWindow for the wpf form. I also have a class for the MyData files (with 4 get/set functions) that are stored in the OCLB(observable collection). There is also a class with functions for the OCLB.

    Hi All, In WPF4.0, I have a class that contains other class types as properties (combining multiple data types for display). The "Credit" property gets displayed correctly, but the OwnerName property does not. Instead, I get a binding error: Error 40: BindingExpression path error: 'OwnerName' property not found on 'object' ''ForDisplay' (HashCode=449124874)'. BindingExpression:Path=OwnerName; DataItem='ForDisplay' (HashCode=449124874); target element is 'TextBlock' (Name=txtOwnerName'); target property is 'Text' (type 'String') I don't understand why this is attempting to look for the OwnerName property in the ForDisplay class, rather than in the Owner class from the ForDisplay OwnerData property. Edit It appears that it has something to do with using the custom control.   • Bounced email on Google App Engine

    I'm developing application for google app engine (python), witch needs not only to send emails, but also know which ones bounce back. I created special account for my domain [email protected], added it as an app admin and sending messages from it. The problem is (and it was described here http://code.google.com/p/googleappengine/issues/detail?id=1800) - GAE sets the Return-Path to some internal email address, not allowing to receive bounced email messages. Anyone aware of any possible workaround for this? Thanks.

  • Binding Silverlight UserControl custom properties to its' elements

    Hi. I'm trying to make a simple crossword puzzle game in Silverlight 2.0. I'm working on a UserControl-ish component that represents a square in the puzzle. I'm having trouble with binding up my UserControl's properties with its' elements. I've finally (sort of) got it working (may be helpful to some - it took me a few long hours), but wanted to make it more 'elegant'. I've imagined it should have a compartment for the content and a label (in the upper right corner) that optionally contains its' number. The content control probably be a TextBox, while label control could be a TextBlock. Does anyone know how that's done?

When I select a node I want to dynamically build Accordion Items based on Properties from DataContext of selected node. Selecting nodes works fine, and when I use this sample code for testing it works also.   • WPF DataTemplates with VS2010 designer support + reusable - would you do it that way?

    Ok, I am currently tidying up all my old stuff. I ran into the issue of "code only DataTemplates" - which are really a pain in the ass. You can't see anything, they are really hard to design, and I want to improve my project. So I had the idea to use the following solution. The main benefits are: You have designer support for your data template You can easily include example sample data The file naming is consistent and easy to remember The preview does not require an additional XAML wrapper (even with code only controls) I will try to explain and illustrate my solution using a few pictures. I am interested in feedback, especially if you can imagine a better way to do it. And, of course, if you see any maintenance or performance issues. Ok, lets start with a simple PreviewObject. I want to have some data in it, so I create a subclass which will automatically fill in some dummy data. Then I add a list to the control, and name this list. Afterwards I add a DataTemplate, this is the sole reason for the whole control (to be able to see and edit the DataTemplate in place): Now I use this control to get my DataTemplate, to use it in other places. To make this easier, I added some code in the code behind, see here: Now I want a control to show me a list of PreviewItems, so I created a "code-only" control which creates an instance of my service (or gets one using DI in real world) and fills its list box with it: To view the result of this work, I added this control inside the same named XAML, this is basically only to be able to see the final result: What I do not like in this solution: The need to create the last control in "code only". So I tried something different while writing this post. The following two screenshots illustrate the approach. I am creating an instance of the service inside the DataContext, and I am using bindings to supply the Itemssourc and the ItemTemplate. The reason for the strange "static property" is refactoring support. If I hardcode the path in the designer (e.g. using "Path = PreviewHistory") and I refactor the names (which happens quite often, early design phase) - I screw up my controls without realizing it.   • "ResolveAssemblyReference" task fails and System.BadImageFormatException, but assembly isn't used an

    I am getting an error about the assembly "C:\Ora10g\bin\Zip.exe". The trouble is this solution does NOT use anything in Oracle at all. I could not find a single reference to 10g anywhere in the project. I inherited this from another person who left our group. He never had this issue. Another member of my team said he got this before but reinstalling the client portion of 10g fixed it. No such luck there. I even tried using WinGrep to search the entire solution folder for "Ora10g" but it wasn't there. Any ideas? I can't build this solution until I can figure out how to get rid of this false reference to Oracle. VS 2005 solution. Contains a couple WinForm apps, a couple class libraries, and a web service. The error occurs in the main class library project. Here is the error message: Error 1 The "ResolveAssemblyReference" task failed unexpectedly.     I have app that is running Ruby 1.9.2, Rails 3, and postgreSQL 8.3. It was originally setup and working with postgreSQL 9.1, but I uninstalled 9.1 and installed and changed to 8.3 insure compatibility on a Heroku shared database setup. It was running ok, but it's not now Now, when working on this app, when I run a database upgrade I get this error: dlopen(/Users/michaeljmccoy/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.2-p290/gems/pg-0.12.2/lib/pg_ext.bundle, 9): Library not loaded: libpq.5.dylib Referenced from: /Users/michaeljmccoy/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.2-p290/gems/pg-0.12.2/lib/pg_ext.bundle Reason: no suitable image found. However, when I add the path to my .profile file and restart the terminal window, I get the same errors.
