  • What is the HTTP_PROFILE browser header and how is it used?

    I've just come across the HTTP_PROFILE header that seems to be used by mobile browsers to point to an .xml document describing the device's capabilities. Doing a Google search doesn't turn up any definitive resources on what this is and how it should be used, can anyone point me to something along the lines of a spec/W3C standard?

  • Why can't any browser understand this link? (exept firefox)

    Hy people. I'm working on my webapp for the iphone. On some point you have the option to get a particular document from our appserver. It works on firefox, but safari just shows an empty download window. IE also can't get the file. Below is the example link.   • Floats not staying inside div in webkit browser, but do if cached.

    Hiya All, I have a rather strange bug which i can't make sense of that is apearing in webkit based browsers (chrome and safari). When this page http://bluprintliving.mammalworld.com/turnmill-street loads for the first time the content seems to jump out of the container but only at the end of the render. on refresh it stays in and behaves. Generally the page in cache and out of cache looks different. Anyone have any ideas or clues they can shed on this issue? Much appreciated.     In this example, http://jsfiddle.net/mnXH9/, the height of the content-display element and the height of the nav-menu-container are fixed. How do I make the height of the content-display and nav-menu-container elements extend to the remaining height of the browser window as the browser height is being adjusted by a user provided the height in the browser window is greater than 400px (The height of the header plus the nav-menu-container)? I would like for the scrollbar to be inside the nav-menu-content element if the total height in the browser is greater than the sum of the height of the header (100px) and the nav-menu-container element (300px). If the browser window's height is less than 400px then a scrollbar would appear in the browser window to allow scrolling throughout the 100px header and the 300px min-height of the below elements.   • How to override browser default download behavior for files?

    Lots of times we have to download files from the net. In IE we get to see the ugly download progress bar. In firefox we get to see a pop-up window opening etc. However, I have never seen this being over ridden in any manner. Until recently on the site *thesixtyone DOT com* If we get to download a song free and click on the ok link to start the download we get a pop up to select location in the default style of windows.   • Browser extensions to re-render the page using an updated version of my CSS file, without reloading the page itself

    I want to learn Web UI design. (I know, I know. Being a programmer puts me at a disadvantage. But I want to try anyway.) Thus, I would like to "debug" my CSS files. Once of the biggest annoyances I have found is that I cannot test a change in my CSS files without reloading the whole page. Sometimes, the page is too big. Sometimes, a lot of elements were brought to the page after lots of clicks, because my pages rely too heavily on AJAX. Sometimes, I just hate hitting Command+R all the time. Is there any extension for any of the major browsers (preferably Safari and/or Chrome) that re-renders the page using an updated version of the CSS file, without reloading the whole page itself?

  • how does selenium webdriver upload files to the browser?

    I am a javascript/java developer and I have been trying to figure out how the selenium webdriver automation framework uploads files from the file system. It is impossible to set a file input via javascript because it is a security violation. Yet somehow webdriver is able to do this with the following command: driver.setFileDetector(new LocalFileDetector()); WebElement upload = driver.findElement(By.id("myfile")); upload.sendKeys("/Users/sso/the/local/path/to/darkbulb.jpg"); driver.findElement(By.id("submit")).click(); So they are setting the value by sending keys to it? I don't get it. I have looked through the source code found here: http://code.google.com/p/selenium/source/checkout I am still not able to find where they do this. Edit: My question is not how to do this with selenium, but how did the selenium developers make this possible? How did they get around the security restrictions in javascript? How are they uploading the file?

    How can i force an application to be high-dpi scaled? Or alternatively, how can an application that is not manifested as high-dpi aware, and doesn't have dpi-scaling disabled from the Properties-Compatibility tab, not be scaled? Pretend i have an application, who's developers decided to manifest it as high-dpi aware, when it really isn't. How can i force dpi-scaling? Pretend i have an applicaiton that Microsoft has applied the "HighDpiAware" compatiblity shim to, when the application really isn't. How can i force dpi-scaling? Pretend i have an application (i.e. Shareaza) that does not have a dpi-aware manifest, does not disable dpi-scaling from the application's Properties tab, but high-dpi scaling is not being applied?   • Bioshock2 installer is not running under windows 7 64bit

    When I try to install the Bioshock2 game under windows 7 64-bit i get the following error- "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher." I try to run it in compatibility mode (as XP and admin) I get the same error. I don't understand why it is giving me this error because if it is 32bit program then it should just run like other 32 bit application I have. And I am sure Bioshock2 is not a 16bit game. What can I do to run this program? It ran on Windows XP in the past.

  • Nginx Browser Caching using HTTP Headers outside server/location block

    I am having difficulty setting the HTTP expires headers for Nginx outside of specific server (and then location) blocks. What I want is to something like the following: location ~* \.(png|jpg|jpeg|gif|ico)$ { expires 1y; } But not have to repeat it in every single server block, because I am hosting a large number of sites. I can put it in every server block, but it's not very DRY. If I try to put that into an HTTP block or outside of all other blocks, I get "location directive is not allowed here." It seems I have to put it into a server block, and I have a different server block for every virtual host. Any help/clarification would be appreciated.

  • My website directories downloads instead of actually opening up from browser

I am trying to get my web service up using mac ports and I am just trying to configure all the files.   • Getting PHP to work with apache to run .php files through browser [closed]

    I have VPS running Debian 5.0 (I think) and I would like to get it to run PHP files. I was told it needed to be configured with Apache. I tried entering the command apt-get install apache2 php5 libapache2-mod-php5. But there was no change. How can I fix this?

  • Extended validation certificate not changing browser bar green in Firefox

    I'm having some problems with an Extended validation certificate on a site that isn't showing the green bar correctly in Firefox. Chrome and IE are working fine. When I load the page the bar appears for a few seconds and then disappears when the page has fully loaded. Someone mentioned it could be because of loading images over HTTPS, but I'm not sure how valid this case is. We have one image on the page that is loaded from another source over HTTPS, the rest of the images are stored in the file system on the server. FYI - its Windows Server 2008 and ASP.net UPDATE: Solved this problem - the style sheet was loading in a Google Font url using http, not https - changed it and now it's working.
