Last night I had a script go a bit crazy and create a bunch of directories between 3:00 and 3:09am. Is there a quick one liner that will hunt these down and remove them for me?
Let's assume we have a bunch of LINQ2SQL InsertOnSubmit statements against a given DataContext. If the SubmitChanges call is successful, is there any way to automatically generate a list of SQL commands (or even LINQ2SQL statements) that would automatically undo everything that was submitted? It's like executing a rollback even though everything worked as expected.
Note: The destination database will either be Oracle or SQL Server, so if there is specific functionality for both databases that will achieve this, I'm happy to use that as well.
We are a group of 3 people with computers who are inside a network that very closed and we don't have access to a bunch of ports.
It would be benefitial to have a solution where we can also access the code from home.
Is there a source control software that works well in a situation like this?
I usually run Fiddler for net traffic monitoring and now am using a Mac machine. I thought Firebug's net tab can show the traffic that is fetched through AJAX (the net tab is enabled). But if I try google.com, and type in something, its "google suggest" will show a bunch of suggestions, but the Firebug's "net" tab is not showing anything?
I need to store a bunch of variables that need to be accessed globally and I'm wondering if a singleton pattern would be applicable. From the examples I've seen, a singleton pattern is just a static class that can't be inherited. But the examples I've seen are overly complex for my needs. What would be the very simplest singleton class? Couldn't I just make a static, sealed class with some variables inside?
This problem occurs over and over. I have some complicated object, such as a Cat, which has many properties, such as age, favorite cat food, and so forth.
A bunch of Cats are stored in a Java Collection, and I need to find all the Cats that are aged 3, or those whose favorite cat food is Whiskas. Surely, I can write a custom method that finds those Cats with a specific property, but this gets cumbersome with many properties; is there some generic way of doing this?
I have a bunch of webservices that I need to write PHP clients for. Now I can manually write wrappers for each of the WSDL files but i wanted to see if there is a tool that can help me by generating the wrappers in PHP.
Any idea if there are any tools that do this?
Thanks
Will programmers one day all be redundant and we'll have a bunch of robots doing our work like was envisioned many decades ago?
I'm still waiting for my Jetsons type transport and that never arrived.
lam1 = 0.0:0.1:4.0
lam = 1.60*lam1-0.30*lam1^2 for 0<lam1<=1
lam = lam1+0.30 for 1<=lam1<=4
I have a bunch of those. What would be the 'matlab way' of writing that kinda stuff, short of simple looping by indexes and testing the values of lam1 ?
I'm writing a bunch of Linux shell scripts with complex selections. For now I use zenity for prompts. I'd rather use something where I can show more than one UI element at a time and query it in a script (e.g. a list and some checkboxed and a file picker and an entry field.
What are my options?
I don't want to make this into a "which is better... MVC or WebForms" type of question. Im sure that has been asked a bunch of times here already.
My Question: If I am building a MVC web project, why should I not use an ASP.NET datagrid control on one of my "Views" .aspx pages?
I'm curious if there's a way to search for files in the iPhone's directory ( the location is irrelevant).
I am wanting to load in addresses from text files. The thing is additional files may be added and I want to dynamically be able to find the files and load in the data without hardcoding the file names to load in.
Thanks a bunch!
I have a fairly simple MS Access Database that contains some metadata about a bunch of documents and a hyperlink field that links to the document on our network drive.
However, when I use a SQL INSERT statement to populate the hyperlink field, the value I give it only becomes the display text, not the actual link.
How can I make the value a functional hyperlink? I'd think that the hyperlink data type would actually create hyperlinks.
I'm using Access 2002 SP3.
I have a bunch of thumbnails which I am loading with a style of visibility: hidden; so that they all maintain their correct layouts. Once the page is fully loaded I have a jquery function that fades them in. This worked when their style was set to display: none; but obviously the layout screwed up then. Any suggestions?
Heres the fade line:
$('.littleme').fadeIn('slow');

If I have a static class with a static field such as:
private static myField = new myObject();
I then have a bunch of static methods that use myField.
Is myField re-instantiated for each method call? My guess is that it's instantiated the first time a method is called that uses it and it remains in memory until the GC clears it up?
Cheers for any pointers :-)
I am looking for a place where I can download a bunch of CSS stylesheets to change the appearance of my titles, links, paragraphs, etc. I am not an artist, so I am hoping to leverage other people's skills in choosing the right fonts, colors, sizes, etc.
I do not want to include layout because then it won't be as generic. Does anyone know where I can get something like this?
Three of my coworkers just told me that there's no reason to use a StringBuilder in place of concatenation using the + operator. In other words, this is fine to do with a bunch of strings: myString1 + myString2 + myString3 + myString4 + mySt...
The rationale that they used was that since .NET 2, the C# compiler will build the same IL if you use the + operator as if you used a StringBuilder.
This is news to me. Are they correct?
I'm a coding a JavaScript reporting component, that requires multiple LI's i.e. lists to be selected collectively as a bunch with visual feedback.
I'm thinking of adapting the onfocus event. Is it possible for multiple HTML elements to receive focus at the same time?
When using start /max program_name to start a bunch programs, how to focus on each program when it opens. For now, it open focus on the first program, and launch others on the back. thanks.
I feel rather foolish as this is just a short question.
I was reading about a bunch of thread management helper classes in .net, specifically one that aids the storage of threads to help a service manager object automatically invoke delegates onto the subscribing thread. I'm pretty sure it had something to do with creating dispatchers.
Totally forgotten the name, can't find it :( Anyone know what I'm talking about?
Basically, I want to get a list of all installed apps and pick one to run from an activity.
I've tried ACTION_PICK with Intents but that seems to leave out apps that were downloaded and it has a bunch of junk in it.
Thanks
Hello fellow stackoverflowers, quick question. I'm using C# 3.5 and I have a date that comes in as string in the following format:
Tue Jan 20 20:47:43 GMT 2009
First question, what is the name of that format? Second question, what's the easiest and clearest way to convert this string into a datetime? I would love to be able to use a .net API/Helper method if possible.
Thanks a bunch...
I've inherited a bunch of code that has server script inside of .htm files.
On IIS, a handler mapping pumps.Htm pages though the asp.net engine.
Unfortunately, visual studio doesn't notice that they should be treated as code.
Is there any way to make VS treat .Htm files as code/aspx files?
I have a Web Project (VS 2008) that references a bunch of DLLs. The DLLs are built separately, so the project references binaries and not DLL projects.
Some of the DLLs have their own app.config, which I want to be copied autmatically to the web project's output directory.
Is there any suitable generic way to achieve this?
