  • Preserving Permalinks

    One of the things that gets me on a rant is websites that break permalinks. If you have posted something somewhere and there is a public URL pointing to it, that URL should never ever return a 404. You are breaking all websites that ever linked to you and you are breaking all search engine links to your content (that others will try and follow). It is a pet peeve of mine.     If you are using Visual Studio 2010 and targeting .NET 3.5, you can still use the new T4 POCO template generation. I discovered this accidentally. (How else?)     .NET is now more than eight years old, and some of its APIs got old with more grace than others. System.IO in particular has always been a little awkward.     When we added RSS to Orchard, we wanted to make it easy for any module to expose any contents as a feed.
