  • Flash player stops working in Firefox

    First of all please be merciful as I am a 2 days ubuntu user. I've only used Windows OSs before. Hardware configuration -Quad Core Q6600 CPU -4 GB RAM -Geforce 8800GT 512 MB RAM -Seagate 320GB Harddisk I installed ubuntu x64 and everything went smooth. I had Adoble flash player installed from Ubuntu Software Center. The problem is that the flash videos on youtube (basically on all pages) looked pixelate. I use Firefox 3.6 that came with ubuntu by default. After reading around here I saw something about overriding hardware acceleration but that didn't work either. Or maybe I just didn't do it correctly. The problem was that if I opened 2-3 youtube tabs, when closing one of them, in 95% of the cases, the flash plugin would crash in remaining tabs and a black screen was instead of the video. After doing some more search I discovered the FlashAid extension for Firefox. I installed it and it made an update of flash plugin. Now the videos look good but now each time I watch a video, when switching to another one the flash plugin crashes and I can see insead of the vide the firefox message with Plugin has crasshed, refresh the page. Basically this is what I miss to have a complete pleasant ubuntu experience. Any ideas how to fix this? Thank you

    I am using ESS in Windows XP. I have noticed that shell.exec is much slower with ESS than with RGui (the problem occurs when I try help(ls) for example, the help is displayed much faster in RGui, I tracked it down and it is due to shell.exec). Is there any reason for this? How can I fix it? My default browser is Firefox.

  • Redirecting exec output to a buffer or file

    I'm writing a C program where I fork(), exec(), and wait(). I'd like to take the output of the program I exec'ed to write it to file or buffer. For example, if I exec ls I want to write file1 file2 etc to buffer/file. I don't think there is a way to read stdout, so does that mean I have to use a pipe? Is there a general procedure here that I haven't been able to find?

    I'm trying to create a Mozilla browser plugin for the sole purpose of detecting with javascript whether or not an application that I have written is installed. This was inspired by another stackoverflow question and answer on a similar subject. All I want really is a HelloWorld type example as what I need to write will be even simpler than that. There is a lot of information on the Mozilla website, but as a plugin noob and a C++ novice I'm experiencing information overload. I just need a step by step "this is how to create your first simple plugin". I have already written the IE equivalent by following this ATL tutorial. This is the kind of level of guide that I would ideally like to find. Please note, this is specifically about Mozilla plugins and not extensions - Googling this subject brings up a lot of information about extensions in addition to plugins.

    Of course it would mean you're plugin is not cross-platform but let's focus on the technical side... Is a browser plugin (like done in NPAPI) restricted in what it can do? Or do you get fairly free reign to access the PC and the render-window you're given? For instance can you create Win32/MFC controls in your browser this way? A side question - is your browser plugin conceptually akin to a .DLL, which is therefore just arbitrary compiled code implementing a specific interface for browser control/communication?

  • Failed Backup Job With Backup Exec 12 and AOFO

    I am backing up a Windows 2003 Small Business Server with SP2. We are running Backup Exec 12 with SP4. Recently the backup job started failing on backing up the system state with the following error: V-79-57344-34110 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "System?State". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS). Snapshot provider error (0xE000FE7D): Access is denied. To back up or restore System State, administrator privileges are required. Check the Windows Event Viewer for details. Upon review of Symantec's website the error indicates a credential problem. However when I test the credentials they come back with no failures. I have found another forum here referencing a similar error and have tried what has been indicated with no succesful results. I have created new jobs based on new selection lists with no succesful results. I suspect a new update possibly from Microsoft may be causing this but I have no idea which one. I am looking for feedback. Thanks.

  • Symantec Backup Exec 12 Tape Alert.

    Every day, I run 5 backups using 6 tapes. Each day, when I run the inventory, I get a tape alert Error. This occurs every day, on the same job. The error is: Job 'Inventory Daily ********' has reported Multiple Tape Alerts on server '******' Please refer to job log *****.xml for more information. When i look at the Job log, the Utility Job Information says: The device has reported the following TapeAlert diagnostic information Information- The library has been manually turned offline and is unavailable for use. Robotic library for device: PV132T 500 Warning - Library security has been compromised. Robotic Library for device: PV132T 500. Critical - The library has detected a inconsistency in its inventory. 1.Redo the library inventory to correct the inconsistency. 2. Restart the operation. Check the applications users manual or hardware users manual for specific instructions on redoing the library inventory. Roboric Library for Device PV132T 500. When I run the same inventory for a second time, the job completes successfully. I am using Symantec Backup Exec 12 running on Windows Server 2008. I am using a Dell Powervault 132T 500 tape drive. If anyone can help me on how to resolve this problem, it would be very much appreciated.

  • Backup Exec tape rotation guidelines

    Hi We use Backup Exec to take care of our backups for our data server, exchange server, and one more set of systems. Each of these 3 is being done on a separate "set" of tapes. Our goal is to be able to roll back a full 2 weeks, with 1 full backup each weekend and differential/incremental backups in between (the difference between the two in our case isn't very big, because the employees mostly use a very similar set of files throughout the week). While playing around with the settings on how to achieve this, we set the time for BE to keep the full backup to 14 days, but because we have too much data this would require manual intervention each time to erase a certain tape and use that. What I would like to know is what kind of guidelines, tricks, tips and general "stuff to think about" you keep in mind when designing your backup schedule. The type of backups (full/diff/incr) isn't of that much importance in our case as it's more or less set in stone. Made this community wiki as it's not a very specific question. Thanks in advance!

    Hi, created an Eclipse plugin that contributes to the UI by a new project wizard a new menu in the context menu of projects in the Package Explorer a new project nature + builder a new preference page for the plugin The plugin works fine when installed in a normal Eclipse instance with Flex/Flashbuilder as plugin. The problem now is, that the plugin never gets activated when i install it in a Flex/Flashbuilder Standalone instance. Neither of the features described above is available. (the start command is now "C:\Programme\Adobe\Flash Builder Beta\Gumbo.exe" -clean) My plugin depends on org.eclipse.ui, org.eclipse.core.runtime, org.eclipse.core.resources, com.adobe.flexbuilder.project com.adobe.flexbuilder.project.ui com.adobe.flexbuilder.ui All of these should be available, as i see it. (and an error should be generated if they were not, i hope)

  • Joomla get plugin id

    I wrote a Joomla plugin which will eventually load a library. The path to library is a plugin parameter, as such when the path is incorrect, a message pops up in the backend, together with a link to edit the plugin parameters: /administrator/index.php?option=com_plugins&view=plugin&client=site&task=edit&cid[]=36 See the 36 at the end? That's my plugin's id in the database (table jos_plugins). My issue is that this id changes on installation, ie, on different installs, it would be something else. So I need to find this id programmatically. The problem is that I couldn't find this id from the plugin object itself (as to why not, that would be joomla's arguably short-sighted design decision). So unless you know about some neat trick, (I've checked and double checked JPlugin and JPluginHelper classes), I'll be using the DB.     I have 2 maven projects set up like this: -com.wuntee.rsaAuthenticationManager (jar) -com.wuntee.taac (pom) --taac-backend-gui (jar) --taac-web (war) And 'com.wuntee.rsaAuthenticationManager' is a dep in 'taac-backend-gui'. When running a test case in taac-backend-gui, everything executes fine, but when trying to start the taac-web, I get the following ClassNotFoundException - the library that contains the class 'weblogic.security.SSL.TrustManager' is also in my local maven repository, and set as a dependency of com.wuntee.rsaAuthenticationManager. Does anyone know why I would be getting this error? I have also attempted to directly add the library containing TrustManager to the taac-web project, and still get the same Exception. Any ideas?     I've tried to build Tycho now for a couple of hours and just can't get it to work. I've followed these instructions: https://docs.sonatype.org/display/TYCHO/BuildingTycho So, I've downloaded Eclipse 3.6RC2 and Delta-packs linked from this instruction (is it for 3.5 only?): http:// (remove space) aniefer.blogspot.com/2009/06/using-deltapack-in-eclipse-35.html I've added the DeltaPack to the TargetPlatform inside of the Eclipse-installation.
