  • Does MS Access 2010 have Tif image control display issue?

    We run MS Access as the front end for most of our business. When we upgraded from Access 2000 to Access 2003 the image control we used to print out Tif images failed to load Tifs anymore. A bit of Googling showed that MS did this intentionally and I'm wondering if the problem still happens in Access 2010. Can someone with a downloaded copy drop an image control on an Access 2010 form or report and try to get it to display a Tif file?

  • MySQL very slow compared to MS Access when inserting hundred of thousands of rows ! So is there a my

    I am currently adding hundred of thousands of rows of data to a table first on a MS Access Table then on a MySQL Table. I first tried with MS Access, it tooks less than 40 seconds. Then I tried exactly with the same source and with the same table structure to MySQL and it took 6 min and 40 seconds that is 1000% slower !!! So is there a myth that a database server is more performant ?

  • Can you upgrade OEM Office with an OEM Upgrade

    We have a bunch of computers at work that have OEM Office 2000. We have all the material, CDs, etc., and amazingly the computers still work well (they were top of the line when purchased in 2002). However, we'd like to upgrade to Office 2003, our corporate standard. We've found OEM Office 2003 upgrade software online for ~$60 apiece, which would save us thousands over installing retail upgrades or volume licenses. But can we do this? I haven't been able to get a clear answer from Microsoft or anyone else if OEM Upgrades can be applied by non-System Builders to OEM Office.

  • Outlook 2010 corrupts all Office attachments on a Server 2008R2 Remote Desktop Server

    I have a rather annoying problem with a clients new Remote Desktop server. The problem is that any and all Office attachments (tested with Word and Excel documents) sent to the users via email cannot be opened due to the file seemingly being corrupted/damaged. I have determined that it is a local problem on the server, as the attachments work fine on my own pc. Also I believe the problem is isolated to Outlook, as the users can open already stored Office files without any issues. What are your thoughts on this? Extra information: The server is running Microsoft Server 2008 R2. The Office is a version 2010. It is handeling the roles of AD and RDS - The client only has one server, hence the breach of best practise. There is currently no AV software on the server. I have tried running a repair as well as a reinstalling of Office, with the error still there.

    I have set up a couple of Avaya IP Office systems over the course of my current job. I have a pretty good handle on the process, but now I am faced with something I have not done before. Both the IP office systems I have set up used all Digital phones. The new system we are putting in place will actually use IP phones for the first time. After tyring to track down some general documentation on my own, I was not able to find anything that left me feeling comfortable about setting up IP phones on an Avaya IP Office 500. Does anyone know of any good how-To's for setting up IP phones on IP Office? I get the impression its pretty simple but learend enough about Avaya to know that there are some tricky aspects to setting them up

  • MacBook Pro 10.6 losing dns service, network connection still functional if you know the ip address.

    MacBook pro connected to a wireless network (not sure about wired) I lose DNS. I still have a functioning connection and as long as I know the ip address of the website, server... for example skype works, ssh name@ipaddress, .... Things can be working properly and then just quit, Once I was im via skype and lost dns skype continued to work. This has happened in multiple locations on private and public networks. What does not work/fix it: Resetting router changing dns server on computer or router connecting to another network removing the airport interface and adding it back flushing dns The only solution seems to be a restart. A solution to this would be great, but any ideas of this to try would be great. Even a sure way to reproduce this would be useful. Maybe related question: But this is most definitely not true for me. "if I refresh enough -- 3 to 4 times --, it will usually pull up the site. " Here are some tests from terminal.     i have dwnloaded microsoft offfice 2010 from the net a trial version but a double click on the.exe icon nero windowa opens and which has only one option to burn a disk .for the installation i have uninstalled the nero but it again open the window of disk burning. is the .exe file corrupt or there is some another method to download and install the microsoft office 2010? simply saying that please guide me to install the microsoft office 2010 office suit file.

  • Can font substitutions in MS Word be controlled?

    Suppose that I am typing text in MS Word (any version) and I enter a character that does not exist in the font being used. Say, I’m using Times New Roman and I type 2300 Alt X, which turns to the diameter sign “?”, which does not exist in Times New Roman. MS Word picks it up from a different font, like Arial Unicode MS. This may mess up the typographic style, or line spacing. And this happens without notice. Perhaps the most inconvenient feature here is that MS Word does not automatically return to the original font. Subsequent text appears in the replacement font, unless the user sees what is happening and realizes that he needs to change the font. The question is: Can such substitutions be controlled, e.g. by specifying the font(s) to be used as backup fonts? If not, is there any reliable documentation about it?

  • Connecting office to data center via Metro-ethernet

    I am installing a metro ethernet link from my office to my data center. The office will have a cisco 3750 with several vlans. The data center end will have a more complicated set up. The metro e from the office will connect to a 2960, which will have two other 2960s with a few vlans and a 2811 router connected to it for connectivity to our other environments and the internet. I am looking at implementing this by connecting the office 3750 and the data center 2960 with a dot1q trunk and doing all routing at the 2811. I will configure subinterfaces for gateways for each of the vlans on the 2811. I work for a small company and don't have much of a budget for an ideal architecture. I can post a simple diagram if needed for clarification. Is there anything I am missing here? I feel like I am forgetting something very basic and want to make sure I eliminate any boneheaded mistakes.

    From time to time I want to copy and paste a portion of a web document (viewed in both IE Explorer 7 and 8) into MS Word 2007. The selected text copies and pastes fine, but I am left with only place holders for the images (png). Right clicking the image and clicking copy, then pasting into MS Word doesn't work either. If I paste the image into MS Paint and copy it from there, I can paste it into the Word document. What gives?

  • Hosting company that does Linux VPS and MS SQL

    I'm looking for hosted solutions but there are so many companies that finding the right one using a Google search is a bit overwhelming. Ideally I would like a hosting company which has following options: -Linux VPSs - Individual VPSs should be fairly cheap since I plan on putting one or two services per VPS i.e web server on one (httpd and ColdFusion), an SVN server on another, etc. -Managed MS SQL databases - My company already has data in MS SQL databases and a lot of ColdFusion code written that has MS SQL specific commands in it. -Individually purchased dedicated IP addresses -Preferably located in the North America region My plan would be to setup one Linux VPS as a gateway/firewall/VPN server and have all of my traffic routed through so that my other servers would not use of bandwidth by talking to each other. The trick is also finding a company that does Linux VPS AND MS SQL databases. Does anybody know of any hosting companies offer what I'm looking for? Let me know if I need to add more details.

    Environment - MS Server 2003 AD Domain, XP computers at Branch office connected by VPN back to main office. T IP Traffic to the internet and internally is relatively stable, but the in-house application has been buggy, and dropping connections. Users report "slowness" DNS Name resolution might be the culprit or a symptom, I cannot ping workstations at the main office by name, but can ping their IP Address... Any ideas?

  • Access / Excel crossover: Should i attach spreadsheets to records

    Hi, I currently have an archaic system of client records that I am trying to improve. For each client i have a directory, in that directory i include a directory for each job. Each job has a spreadsheet that i use to store their personal details, and run calculations and costings specific to their needs. In turn I also have word documents that are linked to their spreadsheet which automatically update accordingly. The spreadsheet is also exported as a pdf as well I am trying to build a database of customer records in Access, straight forward enough. For each new customer i need to be able to add the appropriate spreadsheet to their records, update the spreadsheet accordingly with their details, use the spreadsheet to calculate their costings etc.. I do not want to enter the same information repeatedly, and would like a cohesive system, with data being passed between access and excel. Should this be easy enough to do with the two packages?     Hi! I am developing a template based addin for Word 2003 which allows the user to drag and drop elements from a listbox into the word document. Unfortunately I'm getting a really strange behaviour when trying to drop elements in the document's header. Open the template and type something in the header Close the header and insert some content on the page Add a page break. Switch to page layout mode where and set zoom level to "Two Pages" Open the header Slowly Drag and Drop an list item from the list box to the header. See multiple Page Setups dialogs occur which cause Word to crash.
