  • Exchange 2007 Backup - For a newbie

    I am trying to setup an exchange 2007 backup solution. After doing a lot of reading, Microsoft have decided in server 2008 unless you are willing to spend a great deal on a 3rd party solution you are pretty stuck! Essentially what I have been asked to do is perform an off-line file backup of our current exchange server and replicate this onto a new 2nd server. The reasoning behind this is that we need to upgrade our current installation of exchange 2007 to SP2 so that the exchange plug-in for windows server backup will be available to us. From this I can then actually take an exchange aware backup weekly and take it off site. Ideally then also we can migrate to this new server and keep the old one as a fail over. Is there a way I can copy across the files required onto a second server, although I doubt very much it is that simple. I may be barking up completely the wrong tree, however I have very limited knowledge with Exchange and any help and advice on how I would resolve this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

    I know there's a way to get a list of all tables in an Access database by using the quering the MsysObjects: "SELECT MSysObjects.Name FROM MsysObjects WHERE (Left$([Name],1)<'~') AND (Left$([Name],4)<'Msys') AND (MSysObjects.Type)=1 ORDER BY MSysObjects.Name" Does anybody know a similar (or other) way to retrieve a list of all indexes in an MS-Access database?

  • Software engineering project idea feedback [on hold]

    I'm a third year student currently undergoing my project/dissertation section of my degree. I have drafted a proposal for my final year project and would appreciate any feedback. The feedback can be anything constructive either specific to this proposal, the area that I will be working and researching in or my ideas. I will accept all input. Aims My aim is to attempt a proof of concept and prototype a runtime-as-a-service (RaaS). This cloud based runtime will allow clients to dynamically offload tasks or create cloud applications. Currently software-as-a-service (SaaS) cloud applications are purpose built and have a predefined scope in which they can assist or serve the client; this scope cannot be changed without physical alteration to the client and server software. With RaaS the client potentially could define any task it wanted at any time depending on its environment variables, the client and server would then communicate parameters and returns for that task. For the client to utilize a RaaS it must be able to conceive and then define a task using an appropriate XML vocabulary. As the scope of the cloud solution is defined by the client at its runtime, the cloud solution only has to exist for as long as the client requires it to as opposed to a client using a dedicated service. Deliverables The crux of the project will require an XML vocabulary in which the client and server will communicate. I’ll prototype the server application that will dynamically create and manage cloud solutions. The solution will be coded using an interpreted language, such as python or javascript, which can evaluate expressions in runtime or a language that can dynamically compile such as C# or Java. As a further proof of concept I will also produce a mock client that offloads tasks to the server. The report will attempt to explain the different flavours of cloud computing solutions including infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and SaaS including real world examples and where the use of a RaaS could have improved the overall example solution.     Hi there, I've been trying to create a complete system using MS Access, but i really need to use the functionality of excel spreadsheets. I wish to do the following; when I create a record, i create a directory for that record, and copy an excel spreadsheet to that directory. The spreadsheet will be able to link to the corresponding record. So for example if I have a field 'Name' In the database record, the value of this field will show up on the excel spreadsheet. Is it possible to this?

  • Dynamic DNS with Comcast

    I've just recently moved across town. Previously, I had Dynamic DNS set up so I could remotely connect to my desktop (primarily to use TightVNC). My ISP was Comcast and I'm in the Denver, Colorado area. Currently, I'm still with Comcast and still in Denver. My router connects to the internet just fine and my Dynamic DNS record over at DynDNS did get updated with my router's current external IP address. So my router, DynDNS, and public DNS records all agree what my IP address is. However, I can't actually connect to anything from the outside world. My question is, for Comcast networks (particularly in Denver), what would be the device that typically sits there? Is there anything I can do about it? That device seems to not respond to PING but does forward it along when I'm going outwards. But it looks like it eats it when the request is coming in. It's hard to prove that from these logs but I'm assuming that's the case because my router used to accept connections from the outside and I haven't changed anything on it.

  • Save Powerpoint 2007 as Powerpoint 2003 using Open Office SDK 2.0

    Is there anyway to use the Open Office SDK 2.0 to save a powerpoint presention that you created using OOXML to a Office 2003 powerpoint presentation? I know if you open a 2007 file and click Save As you have the option to save it as a Powerpoint 97 to 2003 document and I didn't know if I could do this grammatically using this SDK. The reason I am asking this question is because I need to give the user the option to save data on a website in either office 2007 or 2003 format. I much rather just use the same code to produce the document instead of having to have two code paths for powerpoint 2003 and powerpoint 2007.

    Hi, I launch Blackberry ESS in standalone mode. However I don't have Outlook Express on my computer. Instead I have Outlook 2007 on my computer. I set up an email account in Outlook 2007 which uses 'localhost' as its pop3/smtp server. The port numbers I used are the same as those in http://www.blackberryforums.com/developer-forum/5590-sending-receiving-email-device-simulator.html. However I got the following exception. 'UnknownHostException:pop3.server'. I am wondering if Outlook 2007 works with ESS.

    what could be the reason for Outlook 2007 continously losing and reestablishing the connection to exchange? I tried disabling all anti-viruses and firewalls but it did not help. I should mention that even though this seems to happen to all users, some users cannot even send emails because it happens every few seconds while others can work relatively undisturbed (it happens a few times per hour).

The problem is whenever we attempt to work with columns in a list (add or update) we get the following error: Culture ID 1164 (0x048C) is not a supported culture. Parameter name: culture This error happen on existing lists as well as newly created lists. Any assistance is appreciated.

    Hi all, I have a server with Exchange 2007 installed and I want to move over to Exchange 2010, I want to install Exchange 2010 onto a new server, what is the best way of moving all mailboxes and config over to the new Exchange 2010 server?     Are there mouse pens that work with a Dell laptop running Vista and Word 2007 that allow direct input into Word using the Vista tablet functionality? Currently I can write with my mouse and the tablet OCR recognizes even that poor handwriting but if there is a pen-shaped mouse that I could just plug and play that would be great. Any brands/education etc would be greatly appreciated as I am woefully ignorant on this technology.

(Not to say I don't have any other copy of the document) While formatting (as a try) I applied the style "Apply Style to Body to match selection".
