  • How to find the real problem line in my code with Application Verifier ?

    I am now trying to use this Application Verifier debugging tool, but i am stuck, first of all: it breaks the program at a line that is simple variable set line (s = 1; for example) Secondly, now when i run this program under debugger, my program seems to have changed its behaviour: i am drawing image, and now one of the colors has changed o_O, all those parts of the image that i dont draw on, has changed the color to #CDCDCD when it should be #000000, and i already set the default color to zero, still it becomes to #CDCDCD. How do i make any sense to this? Here is the output AV gave me: VERIFIER STOP 00000002: pid 0x8C0: Access violation exception. 14873000 : Invalid address causing the exception 004E422C : Code address executing the invalid access 0012EB08 : Exception record 0012EB24 : Context record AVRF: Noncontinuable verifier stop 00000002 encountered. Terminating process ... The program '[2240] test.exe: Native' has exited with code -1073741823 (0xc0000001).

  • Is the below thread pool implementation correct(C#3.0)

    Hi Experts, For the first time ever I have implemented thread pooling and I found it to be working. But I am not very sure about the way I have done is the appropriate way it is supposed to be. Would you people mind in spending some valuable time to check and let me know if my approach is correct or not? If you people find that the approach is incorrect , could you please help me out in writing the correct version.     I have a class that implements an interface. The interface is public interface IRiskFactory { void StartService(); void StopService(); } The class that implements the interface is public class RiskFactoryService : IRiskFactory { } Now I have a console application and one window service. From the console application if I write the following code static void Main(string[] args) { IRiskFactory objIRiskFactory = new RiskFactoryService(); objIRiskFactory.StartService(); Console.ReadLine(); objIRiskFactory.StopService(); } It is working fine. However, when I mwrite the same piece of code in Window service public partial class RiskFactoryService : ServiceBase { IRiskFactory objIRiskFactory = null; public RiskFactoryService() { InitializeComponent(); objIRiskFactory = new RiskFactoryService(); <- ERROR } /// <summary> /// Starts the service /// </summary> /// <param name="args"></param> protected override void OnStart(string[] args) { objIRiskFactory.StartService(); } /// <summary> /// Stops the service /// </summary> protected override void OnStop() { objIRiskFactory.StopService(); } } It throws error: Cannot implicitly convert type 'RiskFactoryService' to 'IRiskFactory'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) When I type cast to the interface type, it started working objIRiskFactory = (IRiskFactory)new RiskFactoryService(); My question is why so?

    I have written List<Attachment> lstAttachment = new List<Attachment>(); //Check if any error file is present in which case it needs to be send if (new FileInfo(Path.Combine(errorFolder, errorFileName)).Exists) { Attachment unprocessedFile = new Attachment(Path.Combine(errorFolder, errorFileName)); lstAttachment.Add(unprocessedFile); } //Check if any processed file is present in which case it needs to be send if (new FileInfo(Path.Combine(outputFolder, outputFileName)).Exists) { Attachment processedFile = new Attachment(Path.Combine(outputFolder, outputFileName)); lstAttachment.Add(processedFile); } Working fine and is giving the expected output. Basically I am attaching the file to the list based on whether the file is present or not. I am looking for any other elegant solution than the one I have written. Reason: Want to learn differnt ways of representing the same program. I am using C#3.0 Thanks.

  • Is an index required for columns in ON clause?

    Do I have to create an index on columns referenced in Joins? E.g. SELECT * FROM left_table INNER JOIN right_table ON left_table.foo = right_table.bar WHERE ... Should I create indexes on left_table(foo), right_table(bar), or both? I noticed different results when I used EXPLAIN (Postgresql) with and without indexes and switching around the order of the comparison (right_table.bar = left_table.foo) I know for sure that indexes are used for the left of the WHERE clause but I am wondering whether I need indexes for columns listed in ON clauses.

I have been asked to do so by using SET based approach.     I have a data table which has only one row. But it is having 44 columns. My task is to get the columns from the 4th row till the end. Henceforth, I have done the below program that suits my requirement. (kindly note that dt is the datatable) List<decimal> lstDr = new List<decimal>(); Enumerable.Range(0, dt.Columns.Count).ToList().ForEach(i => { if (i > 3) lstDr.Add(Convert.ToDecimal(dt.Rows[0][i])); } ); There is nothing harm in the program. Works fine. But I feel that there may be a better way of handimg the program may be with Skip ot Take or TakeWhile or anyother stuff. I am looking for a better solution that the one I implemented. Is it possible? I am using c#3.0 Thanks.

    I have the below tables. tblInput Id WordPosition Words -- ----------- ----- 1 1 Hi 1 2 How 1 3 are 1 4 you 2 1 Ok 2 2 This 2 3 is 2 4 me tblReplacement Id ReplacementWords --- ---------------- 1 Hi 2 are 3 Ok 4 This The tblInput holds the list of words while the tblReplacement hold the words that we need to search in the tblInput and if a match is found then we need to replace those. But the problem is that, we need to replace those words if any match is found at the beginning. i.e. in the tblInput, in case of ID 1, the words that will be replaced is only 'Hi' and not 'are' since before 'are', 'How' is there and it is not in the tblReplacement list. in case of Id 2, the words that will be replaced are 'Ok' & 'This'. Since these both words are present in the tblReplacement table and after the first word i.e. 'Ok' is replaced, the second word which is 'This' here comes first in the list of ID category 2 . Since it is available in the tblReplacement, and is the first word now, so this will also be replaced. So the desired output will be Id NewWordsAfterReplacement --- ------------------------ 1 How 1 are 1 you 2 is 2 me My approach so far: ;With Cte1 As( Select t1.Id ,t1.Words ,t2.ReplacementWords From tblInput t1 Cross Join tblReplacement t2) ,Cte2 As( Select Id, NewWordsAfterReplacement = REPLACE(Words,ReplacementWords,'') From Cte1) Select * from Cte2 where NewWordsAfterReplacement <> '' But I am not getting the desired output.
