    Has anybody used the ATK Framework? It is claimed to be geared toward developing apps for business use. Manipulating data, knowledge bases, etc... This is what I primarily develop (on the side-for my own use). The site hasn't given me a great overview of why it may be better than other frameworks.     Is it possible to take a screen capture of a particular area of a web-page from the web-page's own ASP.NET code? I need to display 6 images that are stacked on top of one another using CSS, and I'd like to offer the user the ability to right-click save-as if possible by stacking the screen capture on top top of the original image stack.   • Unit tests and fixtures

    We have a bunch of unit tests which test a lot of webpages and REST API services. Currently when our tests run it pulls from these pages live but this can take ages to run sometimes, and it also feels like the tests should be testing more of our code - not just relying on them being up and responding (if that makes sense..). Is it better practice to save a valid api response and with the unit tests load this in during setup? Thoughts?

  • Hibernate Lazy Loading Proxy Incompatable w/ Other Frameworks

    I've come across several instances where frameworks that take POJOs to do some work crap-out with proxied hibernate beans. For example if I xml annotate a bean for framework X and pass it to framework X it doesn't recognise the bean because it is passed the proxied object - which has no annotations for framework X. Is there a common solution to this? I'd prefer not to define the bean as eager loaded, or turn of lazy-loading anywhere in the application. Thoughts? Thanks.

Any thoughts? Please don't answer with "Visual Studio"! I'm after something very lightweight (if it exists).

However, clients have shown their interest in migrating the developed payroll application in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (.Net 3.5) to Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 (.Net 4.0). I don't have an idea about the expected challenges in the migration or if its just going to be very smooth. Any thoughts or comments?

  • Changing image domain / path in css for production?

    Currently, for things like background images, our css files have no domain specified. This works both in our development and production environments. background-image: url(/images/bg.png); For performance reasons (cookie-less domain), we'd like to switch this: background-image: url(http://staticimagedomain.com/images/bg.png); Ideally, we don't hard code those, so our development environments can still pull locally. Any thoughts on how to best achieve this?

When the first background worker completes and the RunWorkerCompleted event is fired, on which thread will that event fire, the UI or the first background worker from which RunWorkerAsync was called?     I'm working on an API library and I'd like to add a few warnings that would appear when another developers builds the app if an optional apikey is not included. It should be buildable w/o the key (since it's optional) so I can't just add a syntax error to force a build error. I know Xcode supports TODO and FIXME but those aren't really highlighted anywhere major. Any other thoughts on how to approach this?

    Every time I start a hard problem and if can not figure out the exact solution or can not get started, I get into this never ending discussion with myself, as below: That problem solving/mathematics/algorithms skills are gifted (not that you can learn by practicing, by practice, you only master the kind of problems that you already have solved before) only those who went to good schools can do it, as they learned it early. What are your thoughts, can one achieve awesomeness in problem solving/algorithms just by hard work or you need to have that extra-gene in you?

  • SPAZ to connect to Laconica

    I installed a local version of Laconica microblogging in my env. Then I downlowaded SPAZ (an AIR client) to try and talk to the Laconica app. I get an authenitcation error. I have put in the appropriate credentials - I think :) But I think that I have to alter the API and base URL for connecting. Ayone have any thoughts on how to make these two apps talk ?
