(UITableViewCell *)dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:(NSString *)identifier Parameters identifier A string identifying the cell object to be reused. By default, a reusable cell's identifier is its class name, but you can change it to any arbitrary value. Ok so if by default it's the class name, why should I put much brain force into thinking about an identifier? Could I provide just nil? Would it then use the class name? Or what did they try to say here? Must I make an NSString with the class name by myself and provide it as identifier?

  Hello Everyone, The following code is causing me some problems. The third line causes a program crash... it doesn't happen the first time I step through but somehow later on in the program. If I comment out that third line, the program runs smoothly. • Why are my "tel:" links not working

  I have a tableView which has cells with phone numbers. The app is not dialing the numbers though. The weird thing is, if I change the last statement to this: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"tel:171"]]; the phone dials the number 171 without any issue

• touchesEnded not being called??? or randomly being called

  If I lift my finger up off the first touch, then it will recognize the next touch just fine. It's only when I hold my first touch down continuously and then try and touch a different area with a different finger at the same time. It will then incorrectly register that second touch as being from the first touch again. Update It has something to do with touchesEnded not being called until the very LAST touch has ended (it doesn't care if you already had 5 other touches end before you finally let go of the last one... it calls them all to end once the very last touch ends) - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch* touch = [touches anyObject]; NSString* filename = [listOfStuff objectAtIndex:[touch view].tag]; // do something with the filename now } - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { ITouch* touch = [touches anyObject]; NSString* buttonPressed = [listOfStuff objectAtIndex:[touch view].tag]; // do something with this info now }

• Cast an NSDictionary value while applying an NSPredicate?

  Hi I have an Array of NSDictionary objects. These Dictionaries are parsed from a JSON file. All value objects in the NSDictionary are of type NSString, one key is called "distanceInMeters". I had planned on filtering these arrays using an NSPredicate, so I started out like this: NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"(distanceInMeters <= %f)", newValue]; NSArray *newArray = [oldArray filteredArrayUsingPredicate:predicate]; I believe this would have worked if the value for the "distanceInMeters" key was an NSNumber, but because I have it from a JSON file everything is NSStrings. The above gives this error:* -[NSCFNumber length]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3936f00** Which makes sense as I had just tried to treat an NSString as an NSNumber. Is there a way to cast the values from the dictionary while they are being filtered, or maybe a completely different way of getting around this? Hope someone can help me :)

• UITableView titleForHeaderInSection prints headers to console twice then crashes

  In the method below titleForHeaderInSection, for some reason the NSLog prints out the headers twice and then the app crashes in objc_msgSend. I can't understand why this would cause the app to crash? It would seem from research that crashes in objc_msgSend are caused by sending messages to already freed objects, but is that the case here? • iPad UIViewController loads as portrait when device is in landscape

  I have an application with 3 view controllers. They are all have shouldAutoRotateToInterfaceOrientation returning YES. The first two, my main menu and my submenu both autorotate just fine. The third viewcontroller, which programatically loads a UIImageView from a jpg file in the program's bundle, will only display in portrait. In the viewcontroller containing the image, i have this: NSString *imageName = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@-00%d.jpg",setPrefix,imageNumber]; UIImageView *pictureView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:imageName]]; pictureView.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 1024, 768); [self.view addSubview:pictureView]; and again, I have shouldAutoRotateToInterfaceOrientation returning YES for all orientations. My image shows up, but is sideways, and the 0,0,1024,768 values I used to make my rectangle start from the top right corner going down, instead of starting at the top left and going across (holding in landscape). Am I missing a parameter I need to set in order to ensure the imageview shows up in landscape instead of portrait?

  I have an issue where touchesBegan and touchesEnded are incorrectly identifying my second, third, etc touch if I continue to hold down my first touch. If I lift my finger up off the first touch, then it will recognize the next touch just fine. It's only when I hold my first touch down continuously and then try and touch a different area with a different finger at the same time.   Hi, The question is: how to add news via FBConnect?? But I can't see the new news in the facebook account!!   hi all, in a table view i have set a UISearchBar set the delegate and add the protocol. When user tap a word everything is ok exept that the search of "tennis" and "Tennis" is not the same. • I-Phone: Trying to check an Array for an item based on a string produced

  Hello! I'm writing a program that will concatenate a string based on letters, and then check an array to see if that string exists. If it does, then it will print a line in IB saying so. I've got all the ins-and-outs worked out, save for the fact that the simulator keeps crashing on me!   I am getting a strange EXC_BAD_ACCESS error when running my app on iOS4. The app has been pretty solid on OS3.x for some time - not even seeing crash logs in this area of the code (or many at all) in the wild. Any ideas? Could the NSError implementation have changed between releases or am I missing something obvious?
