  • Strip text of all formatting on paste

    I have an application that allows the user to create an article. The problem arises when the user pastes from something like Word which comes loaded with a bunch of markup. I'm using a jQuery editor called tiny_mce which allows the markup. I do a htmlencode and decode obviously but it means that i carry a huge payload of markup. Is there a way to strip (all) markup from pasted text and just keep the text? Or is there a way that tiny_mce can show the markup as text?

  • In SQL can I return a tables with a varying number of columns

    I have a somewhat more complicated scenario, but I think it should be possible. I have a large SPROC whose result is a set of characteristics for a set of persons. So the Table would look something like this: Property | Client1 Client 2 Client3 ----------------------------------------------------------- Sex | M F M Age | 67 56 67 Income | Low Mid Low It's built using cursors, iterating over different datasets. The problem I am facing is that there is a varying number of Clients and Properties, so an equally valid result over different input sets might be: Property | Client1 Client 2 ------------------------------------------- Sex | M F Age | 67 56 Weight | 122 122 The different number of properties is easy, those are just extra rows. My problem is that I need to declare a temporary table with a varying number of columns. There could be 2 clients or 100. Every client in guaranteed to have every property ultimately listed. What SQL structure would statisfy this and how can I declare it and insert things into it? I can't just flip the columns and rows either because there is a variable number of each.

    I am pulling a long timestamp from a database, but want to present it as a Date using Tags only, no embedded java in the JSP. I've created my own tag to do this because I was unable to get the parseDate and formatDate tags to work, but that's not to say they don't work. Any advice? Thanks.

  • Pre-formatting text to prevent reflowing

    I've written a fairly simple script that will take elements (in this case, <p> elements are the main concern) and type their contents out like a typewriter, one by one. The problem is that as it types, when it reaches the edge of the container mid-word, it reflows the text and jumps to the next line (like word wrap in any text editor). This is, of course, expected behavior; however, I would like to pre-format the text so that this does not happen. I figure that inserting <br> before the word that will wrap would be the best solution, but I'm not quite sure what the best way to go about doing that is that supports all font sizes and container widths, while also keeping any HTML tags intact. I figure something involving a hidden <span> element, adding text to it gradually and checking its width against the container width might be on the right track, but I'm not quite sure how to actually put this together. Any help or suggestions on better methods would be appreciated.

  • What's the most straightforward way to typeset MLA-style college essays in LaTeX?

    I've been using LaTeX for a little while now to typeset my algorithms homework, and I really like the quality of the output as well as the ease-of-use. I'd like to starting using LaTeX in other classes as well, but non–computer-science subjects have more stringent formatting requirements than I've come across in CS. Most classes that require essays want them to be formatted in MLA style, but I'm not sure what to best way to do that using LaTeX is. I've tried Googling "latex mla" and other similar things, but I've found many different MLA templates, and my LaTeX skills aren't good enough to determine which is the best. Is anyone else using LaTeX for "normal" essays, and, if so, how are you doing it?

  • OpenMP: Get total number of running threads

    I need to know the total number of threads that my application has spawned via OpenMP. Unfortunately, the omp_get_num_threads() function does not work here since it only yields the number of threads in the current team. However, my code runs recursively (divide and conquer, basically) and I want to spawn new threads as long as there are still idle processors, but no more. Is there a way to get around the limitations of omp_get_num_threads and get the total number of running threads? If more detail is required, consider the following pseudo-code that models my workflow quite closely: function divide_and_conquer(Job job, int total_num_threads): if job.is_leaf(): # Recurrence base case. job.process() return left, right = job.divide() current_num_threads = omp_get_num_threads() if current_num_threads < total_num_threads: # (1) #pragma omp parallel num_threads(2) #pragma omp section divide_and_conquer(left, total_num_threads) #pragma omp section divide_and_conquer(right, total_num_threads) else: divide_and_conquer(left, total_num_threads) divide_and_conquer(right, total_num_threads) job = merge(left, right) If I call this code with a total_num_threads value of 4, the conditional annotated with (1) will always evaluate to true (because each thread team will contain at most two threads) and thus the code will always spawn two new threads, no matter how many threads are already running at a higher level. I am searching for a platform-independent way of determining the total number of threads that are currently running in my application.

  • Vim: change formatting of variables in a script

    I am using vim to edit a shell script (did not use the right coding standard). I need to change all of my variables from camel-hum-notation startTime to caps-and-underscore-notation START_TIME. I do not want to change the way method names are represented. I was thinking one way to do this would be to write a function and map it to a key. The function could do something like generating this on the command line: s/<word under cursor>/<leave cursor here to type what to replace with> I think that this function could be applyable to other situations which would be handy. Two questions: Question 1: How would I go about creating that function. I have created functions in vim before the biggest thing I am clueless about is how to capture movement. Ie if you press dw in vim it will delete the rest of a word. How do you capture that? Also can you leave an uncompleted command on the vim command line? Question 2: Got a better solution for me? How would you approach this task?

    I am using PHP. I want to create an MVC setup from scratch to learn more about how MVC works. I want to use clean urls with slashes as delimiters for the arguments. How do people do this when it comes to GET method forms? Or do people avoid GET method forms all together? As of right now the ways I can imagine are: Don't use GET method forms (although this makes it harder to let users bookmark/link in some cases). Use AJAX instead of form submission (although what do you do for SEO and JS disablers?). Have page submit to itself with post method, then reform the post vars into an url, then rerout to that url using headers (seems like wasted resources). Any suggestions or suggested reading welcome.

Also, I would be very happy if someone could tell me how to use multiple data inputs in POSTFIELDS. Pastebin API uses paste_code as its main data input, but it can use optional things like paste_name that sets the name of the upload or paste_private that sets it private.

I have an actionlink like so Html.ActionLink( "Test", "test", new { q = "search+twitter" } ) This produces a url string as follows http://myserver/test?q=search%2Btwitter But i would like to preserve the plus sign (which i assume is being UrlPathEncoded) so that I get the following url http://myserver/test?q=search+twitter Is there an easy way to do this whilst still using Html.ActionLink ?

  • TableLayout formatting loss after device rotation

    I'm seeing a strange issue with a TableLayout after the device is rotated from either orientation. If you load the view in either portrait or landscape mode, the table loads fine. But once you rotate the device, the columns collapse to just fit their width. I would expect that after rotation, the columns would still stretch to fit the width of the screen. Any ideas on what can be done to resolve this? Screenies and layout code below.     I have a datasheet that looks like this: ID name_ 1 2 3 4 1 name1 x 0 0 0 2 name2 0 x 0 0 3 name3 0 0 x 0 4 name4 0 0 0 x I have rectangles on a report that correspond to this datasheet. When the report opens, I need the rectangles to be colored red according to the data. For example, in the name1 row where there is an x in the 1 column, I need the specific rectangle corresponding to this (name1, 1) to be colored red. Here is the result that I need: x x x x (where x is a rectangle that is red) Perhaps the best place to place this code would be in ON LOAD event of the report, but i am not sure exactly. Can you please suggest to me some code that would turn the specified rectangles red according to the data?

    I have an application which needs to open the file, then find string in it, and print a line number where is string found. For example, file example.txt contains few hashes: APLF2J51 1a79a4d60de6718e8e5b326e338ae533 EEQJE2YX 66b375b08fc869632935c9e6a9c7f8da O87IGF8R c458fb5edb84c54f4dc42804622aa0c5 APLF2J51 B7TSW1ZE 1e9eea56686511e9052e6578b56ae018 EEQJE2YX affb23b07576b88d1e9fea50719fb3b7 So, I want to PHP search for "1e9eea56686511e9052e6578b56ae018" and print out its line number, in this case 4. Please note that there are will not be multiple hashes in file. I found a few codes over Internet, but none seem to work. I tried this one: <?PHP $string = "1e9eea56686511e9052e6578b56ae018"; $data = file_get_contents("example.txt"); $data = explode("\n", $data); for ($line = 0; $line < count($data); $line++) { if (strpos($data[$line], $string) >= 0) { die("String $string found at line number: $line"); } } ?> It just says that string is found at line 0.... Which is not correct.... Final application is much more complex than that...     Hello stackers! I've got a wonderfully fun little SQL problem to solve today and thought I'd ask the community to see what solutions you come up with. We've got a really cool email to text service that we use, you just need to send an email to [email protected] and it will send a text message to the desired phone number. For example to send a text to 0790 0006006, you need to send an email to [email protected], pretty neat huh? The problem is with the phone numbers in our database. Most of the phone numbers are fine, but some of them have "rubbish" mixed in with the phone number. Take these wonderful examples of the rubbish you need to deal with (I've anonymised the phone numbers by placing zeroes in): 07800 000647(mobile) 07500 000189 USE 1ST SEE NOTES 07900 000415 HO ONLY try 1st 0770 0000694 then home 07500 000465 Cannot Requirements The solution needs to be in SQL (for MS SQL server). So the challenge is as follows, we need to get the phone number without spaces, and without any of the rubbish seen in the samples. For example: This: try 1st 0770 0000694 then home Should become this: 07700000694 Anything without a phone number in it (e.g. "SEE NOTES") should be null.

  • Error : Number of Rows In Section in UITableView in iPhone SDK

    I am getting this error while I am trying to load the data into my table view. Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Invalid update: invalid number of rows in section 0. The number of rows contained in an existing section after the update (73) must be equal to the number of rows contained in that section before the update (71), plus or minus the number of rows inserted or deleted from that section (3 inserted, 0 deleted). What could be wrong? My question is that word does not allow more that 200 characters in the prompt box wherein the user types in the questions. Is there a way I can increase its maxlength.
