    Are there mouse pens that work with a Dell laptop running Vista and Word 2007 that allow direct input into Word using the Vista tablet functionality? Currently I can write with my mouse and the tablet OCR recognizes even that poor handwriting but if there is a pen-shaped mouse that I could just plug and play that would be great. Any brands/education etc would be greatly appreciated as I am woefully ignorant on this technology.

  • Server 2008 R2 How to Change Windows 7 Basic Theme Color

    We're deploying thin clients connecting to a terminal server farm. The computers have high visibility to the public and I would like them to at least look presentable and not like something out of 1995. So I installed the Desktop Experience feature and enabled the Theme service. The server will not support Aero because it has no 3D graphics, but we can enable the Windows 7 Basic theme, which has the Aero look without the 3D effects. The problem with that theme is that you can select any window color you want, as long as it's baby boy blue. Is there a way to make those windows another color? The window color controls do nothing.

    I am tired of watching fsck check my filesystem when my eeepc 901 shuts down abruptly due to a crash. I know that with a journaling filesystem, I won't have to wait for a check. However, I am well aware of the poor I/O performance of the SSD, so I can imagine using a journaling filesystem being even more frustrating, since there will be constant writes to the journal? I will buy a new laptop without such a crummy ssd someday but, is there anything I can do now, on the software side of things?

    I was wondering if there was a way in Active Directory to query a Computer object to find the last user who logged on. Poor asset tracking has left me with a couple of un-locatable machines and I would like to know who used them last.   • Software to aid using camera as a scanner

    I want to digitize some index cards with my camera. I'm looking for a program that would automatically fix geometry on the shots (as you would expect the cards come tilted on the picture). I have an app (droid scan lite) on my android phone that does exactly that, but I would prefer to do it on my pc (the phone camera has poor quality and it's slow and focuses badly while I have a decent slr). If the program is open source it's an advantage, cross platform -- even more so.

    I am currently using Dropbox. Just decided to sync my huge (about 5 GB) iTunes Library (music collection) in Dropbox. For that I must subscribe to their paid account. But before I do so, I'd like evaluate the alternatives. Is there an alternative that does this? Local LAN sync (eg: sync my huge music collection across computers in local network without uploading/downloading them to internet) The following would be nice (but not required): Native android client - so music will be made available in the Android music app / SDHC card Selective sync: sync particular folders / exclude certain folders on certain computers .. eg: excluding porn folder on work computers ;-) Just like Dropbox, it MUST work on 64-bit Windows, Linux and Mac. Know of any? (I am currently evaluating Spideroak. Boy, was it so complicated to use?)

    Can anyone recommend a good wireless (802.11g) range extender? I would like to find something that will provide reliable wireless to areas of the building that aren't covered or get poor reception. I would also like a product that won't require big changes to my current wireless setup (multiple APs with a wireless controller are out). Latency and bandwidth aren't terribly important.     I'm currently using the onboard sound on my Asus P6T6 WS Revolution motherboard (SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio) and was wondering if there was any way to make either windows or the audio drivers upscale 2-channel audio to 5-channel audio (basic duplication would suffice)? I was using a creative sound card but got fed up with the memory leaks and poor sound quality.

    Currently it's running Android 1.5 - I'd clearly prefer to be on 1.6, 2.0 or 2.1 - but there seems to be limited information on this available on the internet. If anyone can confirm whether it's been done before, what versions are compatible with the handset, and any problems, it'd be really useful. Aside - it's kind of poor that a phone sold in March 2010 only runs Android 1.5... :(

    Hi Folks, For someone with so much Java experience, boy do I feel clueless - thanks in advance for your help in my grocking the present (Feb, 2010) JSP environment. Here's what I am hoping to learn: Do I understand correctly that most people use Apache to "front-end" their Tomcat servers, such that Apache "talks" directly to web clients and "proxies" Tomcat servers? Do I understand correctly that Apache isn't capable of serving JSP directly but requires a server (like Tomcat)? Is there an RPM package for Fedora Core so I don't have to build one myself? Or, does Fedora Core's package installer do a good job on this one from source code? (Some do, some don't!) While I'm here asking questions; Does Tomcat come with a working example that one can start hacking on as a way to get started quickly? If not, got a good suggestion? Thanks folks, RT

  • How do I rename the Tfs_xxxConfiguration database for TFS 2010?

    When we installed TFS 2010, we made some poor decisions in naming our databases. I have figured out how to rename everything except for the Tfs_xxxConfiguration database. How can I get this renamed? I can only find a read-only display of the connection string to it - cannot find where to alter that connection string either directly or indirectly. I'd really prefer to not have to rebuild it from scratch... again... Thanks!

    I'm on OS X and want to have a hotkey (e.g. Cmd-Opt-P) to play/pause Pandora. I've used Butler to set one up for iTunes, but can't find a comparable solution for Pandora. I'm open to any solution (including apps, AppleScripts, etc.) that would allow me to bind a hotkey to play/pause, and I'm willing to use a paid solution as well. What can I do? Solutions I've looked into and/or tried: Pandora Boy: but the keyboard shortcuts don't seem to work for me, despite following the instructions here.     This is a crucial question to many: Searching the web, I have found several command line tools that allow you to convert a HTML-document to a PDF-document, however they all seem to use their own, and rather incomplete rendering engine, resulting in poor quality How can you print the rendered output of a modern web-browser to pdf, (and/or svg) whilst retaining as much vector graphics as possible? There is a solution called: webkit-pdf (which renders everything to bitmap graphics) I am looking for options, alternatives, suggestions perhaps even a printer-driver or webservices? Thanks

I've had a look into using pgpool II for clustering the db to relieve a little strain, and I was wondering how this should be done to minimise downtime considering I would be clustering a live database.   • Ubuntu 9.04 Cannot Connect to visible open wifi ap (reason 6)

    I'm travelling currently so the last network i connected successfully to was my home wpa-psk network. I hadn't tried anything until i got to my accommodation that is an open network (that I'm on now on the Win7 partition on my laptop). The network (and a similar archetypical 'linksys' open network, aswell as some protected local networks are correctly displayed in network-manager and upon selection, it happily spins around to its hearts content for a while before saying 'no chance boy'. /var/log/syslog spills out the usual combination of wpa_supplicant and kernel messages, the most interesting of are that the kernel deauthentication reason 6 response. 6 apparently means class2FrameFromNonAuthStation...Client attempted to transfer data before it was authenticated. Anyone seen anything like this? I've already tried going closer to the router to no avail. I don't remember seeing this any other time I've connected to a open AP, even if that AP is far away. (Signal strength for this AP is good, kismet says its around -57dBm, well above the threshold of -80dBm, and I've tried all the suggestions from the 'Related Questions'

    Hi Dudes, Installed Win 2008 server and IIS7. Enabled ASP Classic and ASP.NET on it. Can't get any ASP scripts to run e.g. desperate.asp containing following line: <% Response.Write "Hello Love, Fancy a Date?" % It just comes up with a "FILE DOWNLOAD - SECURITY WARNING" panel asking em to download. When I select anything it keeps looping. Found lots fo stuff on internet but nothing working. Also same for other ASP scripts HTML works no problem e.g. a file called reply.html containing: Get lost little boy. We only serve French Fries in Macdonalds Any ideas?

    I am using Cisco DPC3825 DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway as my modem and router right now and it works fine on a computer directly connected to Cisco DPC3825 DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway with wire but I am getting very low/poor signal strength on my wireless computer due to which I am looking to install DLink DIR-625 as my router but because when I connect Cisco DPC3825 DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway with DLink DIR-625 and connect my computer with wire to DIR-625 then I don’t get any Internet.(I get Internet when I connect my computer with wire with Cisco DPC3825 DOCSIS 3.0 and I know there is nothing wrong with DLink DIR-625).
