• Obfuscating Geocode results to protect privacy?

  I have an app that finds other users within a 20 mile radius on a google map and associates an icon with each of them. However, I do not want their exact points to be given but rather an approximation. I've wrestled with a few ideas on how to do this: Only Geocode the Zip Code, make graphic icons for 1-99, use the icon to represent how many results are within the zip code, and use the info window to show hyperlinks to the individual results. The only problem is, I'd like each individual icon to be shown because it just looks a lot better. Add/Subtract a random number to the lat/lng values stored with each user and add a translucent circle around the icon. What do you guys suggest?

• Java_swt in eclipse

  Can someone tell me where I can find the executeable "java_swt"? I see multiple sites that say it is embedded in eclipse, and other sites say it is shipped with Mac swt drops. I have the zip file for a mac called "swt-3.5M6-carbon-macosx.zip" and i have the eclipse IDE installed on my test mac machine and windows machine. But i cannot find this executeable which i need to run an swt app smoothly on mac os x. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

• Adding a valuetype to IDL, compile and it fails with "No factory found"

  I can't figure out why the client keeps complaining about the not finding the factory method. I've tried the IDL with and without the "factory" keyword and that didn't change the behavior. The SDMGeoVT IDL matches other objects used (which run successfully). The SDMGeoVT classes generated match other generated classes in regards to inheritance and methods. The IDL is as follows; The idlj compiler runs w/o error. I implement the function on the server and I see the server code run and serialize the object over the wire (the server code runs fine). The client bombs with the following stack trace (the first couple of lines is from the jacORB library). I've created a small app just to compile and test the code (ArrayClient & ArrayServer). The base app (from the jacORB demo) works fine. • Logging from symfony's model layer

  I'm currently working on a project with symfony 1.4 and Doctrine 1.2. I'm looking for a proper way to do logging from the model layer. In some model classes I use the record hook postSave() to create a ZIP file using exec() (since PHP zip doesn't provide for storage method 'Stored'). To be sure that everythings works fine I check the return code and log an error if something goes wrong. My first naive approach was to do it like this: if ($returnCode != 0) { sfContext::getInstance()->getLogger()->debug(...); } As you know, this doesn't work so well because sfContext belongs to the controller layer and shouldn't be used from the model layer. My next try was to use the model's constructor to pass in an sfLogger instance, but this doesn't work due to Doctrine 1.2 reserving the constructor for internal use (Doctrine 1.2 Documentation). I'm looking forward for your suggestions!

• How is the Tomcat temp directory location defined?

  I am running Tomcat bundled with Liferay5.2.3 and use Eclipse 3.5 (Galileo) as my IDE. I set up my Tomcat server in Eclipse as per this blog entry: http://www.jroller.com/holy/entry/developing_portlets_for_liferay_in. If I start Tomcat via the Eclipse server config, Liferay/Tomcat uses my C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp\ directory. However, if I start Tomcat directly using the startup.bat script, Liferay/Tomcat uses the Tomcat temp directory. I can't figure out if Eclipse, Liferay or Tomcat is deciding which temp directory to use or how to change it. I would prefer to use the Tomcat temp directory. I have this issue with both the Lifera/Tomcat bundles 5.5 and 6.0 (liferay-portal-tomcat-6.0-5.2.3.zip and liferay-portal-tomcat-5.5-5.2.3.zip). Anybody have any clues?

• Paypal IPN setup...Ship to Zipcode and auto calculation

  Hi I have successfully setup paypal IPN on my site and its working fine. From my paypal account I have set options to ass shipping and tax calculations(only if it's Iowa). But the only issue is, on the paypal checkout page it's asking me to enter the "Ship to Zipcode" manually...if I enter and update only then the net payable is getting updated with the shipping and tax charges. Is there any variable via which I could send the ship to zip code which will work directly on the cart and make it auto calculate the charges and show it? I have tried both "zip" and "address_zip" variables. None of them worked. By the way I have multiple items on my cart so I am using the "cart" transaction type. Thanks in advance for your help.

  Hi all, Right now i have an asp.net 2.0 app which allows a user to search by the following fields Location (Required if there is nothing in idnumber field) Address (Required if there is nothing in idnumber field) Zip (Required if there is nothing in idnumber field) **OR** IDNumber. (Required if there is nothing in any of the other fields) What i'd like to be able to do is validate this client side on button click and display a summary of errors. i.e. if a user leaves every criteria blank. I'd like to display "You must enter a IDNumber or "Location, Address, and Zip to continue" I've never used the Custom Validation control so here are some questions. 1) Is it able to do this? 2) Does anyone have an example of how to do this? • How can I structure my MustacheJS template to add dynamic classes based on the values from a JSON file?

  OBJECTIVE To build an app that allows the user to search for locations. CURRENT STATE At the moment the locations listed are few, so they are just all presented when landing on the "dealers" page. BACKGROUND Previously there were only about 50 showrooms carrying a product we sell, so a static HTML page was fine. And displays as But the page size grew to about 1500 lines of code after doing this. We have gotten more and need a scalable solution so that we can add many more dealers fast. In other projects, I have previously used MustacheJS and to load in values from a JSON file. I know the ideally this will be an AJAX application. Perhaps I might be better off with database here? Below is what I have in mind so far, and it "works" up to a certain point, but seems not to be anywhere near the most sustainable solution that can be efficiently scaled. • Execution Plan Optimization when where clause is removed then added back

  I have a stored procedure that uses a table valued function which executes in 9 seconds. If I alter the table valued function and remove the where clause, the stored procedure executes in 3 seconds. If I add the where clause back, the query still executes in 3 seconds. I took a look at the execution plans and it appears that after I remove the where clause, the execution plan includes parallelism and the scan count for 2 of my tables drops for 50000 and 65000 down to 5 and 3. After I add the where clause back, the optimized execution plan still runs unless I run DBCC FREEPROCCACHE. Questions 1. Why would SQL Server start using the optimized execution plan for both queries only when I first remove the where clause? Is there a way to force SQL Server to use this execution plan? Also, this is a paramaterized all-in-one query that uses the (Parameter is null or Parameter) in the where clause, which I believe is bad for performance. • What are some RCP Deployment Options?

  We have an RCP application and we are looking for a better way to do installation/updates. Currently to install, they just unzip a zip file. The zip file also contains scripts in it that are not java code. We were running into some bugs when updating if they don't first delete the old folder that was previous unzipped. The issue with deleting the folder is that the user loses the plugin preferences that were set. The installation would also need to register a COM server. The update would have to update the plugins and also replace the current script folder. What are some of the best options that could be used for installing and updating rcp apps? Thanks!

  Xcode 5 seems to have changed the way it stores the build application package (xxx.app) such that ditto no longer works. In the ../BuildProductsPath/Release/ directory, the app is actually a symlink to .../InstallationBuildProductsLocation/Applications/... MyApp.app - ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/MyApp-emwilkqhlayanxahjpexlpbbkato/Build/Intermediates/ArchiveIntermediates/MyApp/InstallationBuildProductsLocation/Applications/MyApp This breaks the ditto command I was using to create a zip file of the application to put on my Sparkle update server. Anyone have an updated script for building the Sparkle XML and ZIP files? Or know what environment variable I need to use to locate my actual binary after the Archive phase?

'dellsysteminfo.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I don't know why.

  I am looking to create a group indicator for a query using SQL (Oracle specifically). Basically, I am looking for duplicate entries for certain columns and while I can find those what I also want is some kind of indicator to say what rows the duplicates are from. Below is an example of what I am looking to do (looking for duplicates on Name, Zip, Phone). The rows with Name = aaa are all in the same group, bb are not, and c are. Is there even a way to do this?
