"Access is denied" when copying text file to printer UNC path

We have a new server running Server 2008 R2. We also have a "DOS-based" program that prints directly to the UNC path of a print share. With the new server, we are unable to print from this program. According to support, the program's printing works in the same way as if we were to do a "copy mytextfile.txt \\myserver\myprinter". When we try to run this command in DOS, we get "Access is denied". Support is saying that this is why the DOS program is not able to print. I have tried granting all permissions on the printer to the appropriate users (under Security of the printer properties) but that did not work. Is there a policy setting that would cause this to be denied?

I recently installed pdftk using instruction provided at stack overflow I installed it, and run the commanded whereis pdftk the result was /usr/local/bin/pdftk /usr/bin/pdftk I have the powerpannel access and I saw it through it that pdftk actually exists at the location i run the command pdftk --version, it was okay but when in php i use <?php $command = "pdftk --help"; system("PATH=/usr/local/bin/ && $command",$response); if ($response===FALSE){ echo 'sorry error occured'; } else{ echo $response; } ?> the output is 127 the version i am using is 1.41 and the output '127' is something that i cant understand can somebody guide me?

The return value should be a list but doesn't return as expected?! - Python newbie

Hi this must be a very simple solution that has eluded me this last hour. I've tried to build this test function where the return value of the test_cases list should match the values in the test_case_answers list but for some reason, test case 1 and test case 2 fail. When i print the return values for the test cases they return the correct answers, but for some reason test case 1 and test case 2 return False. Class; Struct; Enum confusion, what is better?

I have 46 rows of information, 2 columns each row ("Code Number", "Description"). These codes are returned to the client dependent upon the success or failure of their initial submission request. I do not want to use a database file (csv, sqlite, etc) for the storage/access. The closest type that I can think of for how I want these codes to be shown to the client is the exception class. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I can tell enums do not allow strings, though this sort of structure seemed the better option initially based on how it works (e.g. 100 = "missing name in request"). Thinking about it, creating a class might be the best modus operandi. However I would appreciate more experienced advice or direction and input from those who might have been in a similar situation. Cannot find symbol - variable

I'm new to Java, and I'm trying to get user input, store each line of input as a variable and then return each value so that it can be passed on somewhere else. When I try and compile it is telling me that it can't find the variable magnitude. I'm assuming it won't find the others either. I'm guessing that this is because I've declare the variables inside of the "try" but don't know how to get it so that the return statement accepts them. I met some trouble with a function I have written. In fact I have an array in which I have different custom values. My question is: Does the second method (that has the Func) first call the first method to find all the controls of type T and then performs the where condition or does the "runtime" optimize the call to perform the where condition on the "whole" enumeration (if you get what I mean). secondly, are there any other optimizations that I can do to the code to perform better. Returning object from function

I am really confused now on how and which method to use to return object from a function. I want some feedback on the solutions for the given requirements. Scenario A: The returned object is to be stored in a variable which need not be modified during its lifetime. Thus, const Foo SomeClass::GetFoo() { return Foo(); } invoked as: someMethod() { const Foo& l_Foo = someClassPInstance->GetFoo(); //... } Scneraio B: The returned object is to be stored in a variable which will be modified during its lifetime. Thus, void SomeClass::GetFoo(Foo& a_Foo_ref) { a_Foo_ref = Foo(); } invoked as: someMethod() { Foo l_Foo; someClassPInstance-GetFoo(l_Foo); //... } I have one question here: Lets say that Foo cannot have a default constructor. Then how would you deal with that in this situation, since we cant write this anymore: Foo l_Foo Scenario C: Foo SomeClass::GetFoo() { return Foo(); } invoked as: someMethod() { Foo l_Foo = someClassPInstance->GetFoo(); //... } I think this is not the recommended approach since it would incur constructing extra temporaries. What do you think ? Also, do you recommend a better way to handle this instead ?

optimize output value using a class and public member

Suppose you have a function, and you call it a lot of times, every time the function return a big object. How to detect the root recursive call?

Say we're writing a simple recursive function fib(n) that calculates the nth Fibonacci number. Now, we want the function to print that nth number. As the same function is being called repeatedly, there has to be a condition that allows only the root call to print. The question is: how to write this condition without passing any additional arguments, or using global/static variables. So, we're dealing with something like this: int fib(int n) { if(n <= 0) return 0; int fn = 1; if(n > 2) fn = fib(n-2) + fib(n-1); if(???) cout << fn << endl; return fn; } int main() { fib(5); return 0; } I thought that the root call differs from all children by returning to a different caller, namely the main method in this example. I wanted to know whether it is possible to use this property to write the condition and how. Update: please note that this is a contrived example that only serves to present the idea. c# creating a database query METHOD

I'm not sure if im delluded but what I would like to do is create a method that will return the results of a query, so that i can reuse the connection code. As i understand it, a query returns an object but how do i pass that object back? I want to send the query into the method as a string argument, and have it return the results so that I can use them. Here's what i have which was a stab in the dark, it obviously doesn't work. This example is me trying to populate a listbox with the results of a query; the sheet name is Employees and the field/column is name. Java: error handling with try-catch, empty-try-catch, dummy-return

A searh uses recursively defined function that easily throws exceptions. I have tried 3 ways to handle exeptions: to ignore with an empty-try-catch() add-dummy-return stop err-propagation due to exeption throw a specific except. (this part I don't really understand. If I throw except, can I force it to continue elsewhere, not continuing the old except-thrown-path?) Some exceptions I do not realy care like during execution removed files -exception (NullPointer) but some I really do like unknown things. Possible exceptions: // 1. if a temp-file or some other file removed during execution -> except. // 2. if no permiss. -> except. // 3. ? --> except. The code is Very import for the whole program. I earlier added clittered-checks, try-catches, avoided-empty-try-catches but it really blurred the logic. Some stoned result here would make the code later much easier to maintain. It was annoying to track random exeptions due to some random temp-file removal! How would you handle exceptions for the critical part? WPF - simple relative path - FindAncestor

In the XAML below the ToolTip correctly binds to RelativeSource Self. IOException reading a large file from a UNC path into a byte array using .NET

I am using the following code to attempt to read a large file (280Mb) into a byte array from a UNC path public void ReadWholeArray(string fileName, byte[] data) { int offset = 0; int remaining = data.Length; log.Debug("ReadWholeArray"); FileStream stream = new FileStream(fileName, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read); while (remaining > 0) { int read = stream.Read(data, offset, remaining); if (read <= 0) throw new EndOfStreamException (String.Format("End of stream reached with {0} bytes left to read", remaining)); remaining -= read; offset += read; } } This is blowing up with the following error. System.IO.IOException: Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested If I run this using a local path it works fine, in my test case the UNC path is actually pointing to the local box. Any thoughts what is going on here ?

How to Animate a Gradient on a Path to visualize data flow in WPF/WCF app

I have an interesting project where several "nodes" on a cnavas are connected via a Path similiar to a mindmap tree. The path is used to visualize the connection state between two nodes. Red means the nodes are disconnected, green means they're connected. The next step would be to illustrate data flow (from A to B or B to A) using that path and an animation. Basically I would want to start the animation with the data transfer and stop it when the transfer is complete. Does anyone know how this could be done in WPF?

Normally it happens that when ever the path of the library that has to be linked dynamically is defined in LD_LIBRARY_PATH or it it will be mentioned with -L flag while creating the binary. In actual scenario if ,lets say the binary has been built and deployed at the client place. Now if there is a change in the path of one of the dynamic link library path. then we need to supply a new make file to all the clients where the binary was deployed. is there any other method where we need not tell all the clients to change their makefiles and can something can be done in the code itself? if yes...could anybody please suggest how? This was ironically an interview question that was asked to me and i didnot have the answer for it.

Copy a file to a new directory path in DOS

How can I copy a file using DOS commands into a directory structure that may not yet exist? I need to be able to force the creation of the directory path to the target file location if that location doesn't already exist. For example, there is already a file.txt in this location: C:\file.txt And I want to copy it to C:\example\new\path\to\copy\of\file\file.txt but at this time C:\example\ and all the subdirectories may or may not yet exist. Basically, I am looking for a "copy and create the target path if necessary" command. What would you recommend is the best way to achieve this?

CALayer flickers when drawing a path

I am using a CALayer to display a path via drawLayer:inContext delegate method, which resides in the view controller of the view that the layer belongs to. Each time the user moves their finger on the screen the path is updated and the layer is redrawn. However, the drawing doesn't keep up with the touches: there is always a slight lag in displaying the last two points of the path. It also flickers, but only while displaying the last two-three points again. If I just do the drawing in the view's drawRect, it works fine and the drawing is definitely fast enough. Does anyone know why it behaves like this? I suspect it is something to do with the layer buffering, but I couldn't find any documentation about it.

Assign binding path at runtime in WPF DataTemplate

I am writing a WPF program in C# in which I have a ListView for which the columns will be populated at runtime. I would like to use a custom DataTemplate for the GridViewColumn objects in the ListView. In the examples I have seen where the number of columns is fixed in advance, a custom DataTemplate is often created using something like the XAML below. <DataTemplate x:Key="someKey"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=FirstName}" /> </DataTemplate> This DataTemplate could also later be assigned to GridViewColumn.CellTemplate in the code-behind by calling FindResource("someKey"). However, this alone is of no use to me, because in this example the Path element is fixed to FirstName. Really I need something where I can set the Path in code. It is my impression that something along these lines may be possible if XamlReader is used, but I'm not sure how in practice I would do this. Any solutions are greatly appreciated.

I tried with changing src-path but no success. my htmlpages folder is located at bin folder. And i am assigning it as. FileStream source = new FileStream(@"..\HtmlPages\supportHtml.html", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read); if i open html files in browser, the images are displayed properly.. So, What is the correct path for images..?? If i set full path to src attribute of <img> tag..it works. but i think its not a proper way. :(

How to find the physical path of a GSP file in a deployed grails application

I need to find out the physical path of a grails GSP file. My requirement is that I want to create a new layout file at run-time and use that in the application. I have been able to achieve this without problem when the application runs on jetty (grails run-app), however, when I deploy the app on Jboss, the path at which the file needs to be created changes. So, ideally I would like to find out at runtime using some magical utility the path of a particular GSP (lets say main.gsp layout file) and I need to create my new layout in the same directory in which main.gsp reside. Any pointers? -Deepak

Powershell: resolve path that might not exist?

I'm trying to process a list of files that may or may not be up to date and may or may not yet exist. In doing so, I need to resolve the full path of an item, even though the item may be specified with relative paths. However, Resolve-Path prints and error when used with a non-existant file. For example, What's the simplest, cleanest way to resolve ".\newdir\newfile.txt" to "C:\Current\Working\Directory\newdir\newfile.txt" in Powershell? Note that System.IO.Path's static method use with the process's working directory - which isn't the powershell current location.
