    I would like to be able to model a many-to-many relationship that has extra details about the relationship. For example: Person: int id, String name Project: int id, String name ProjectPerson: Person.id, Project.id, String role Whenever I create the ProjectPerson association in the EF, I am unable to add the role attribute to the association. If I create the tables in my DB and then import it into the model, I lose the extra properties.

Is there any method to have automatically granted all permissions to this role, instead of hardcode every controller in the authorization_rules?     I am trying to create a very simple phone gap application for iOS. I am using query mobile. the problem is, that i can't get javascript event to fire on button click. When have button with # in href, it doesn't event change the color on click. When i add url, it changes color. But it never call javascript function. Another problem is, that document.addEventListener("deviceready", onDeviceReady, false); works only in the index page. If i press button in initial page which redirects to another page, OnDeviceReady function is never called. Anybody has any ideas?

  • can the web.config be changed so roles wouldn't work any more?

    I have had two instances of this problem, first on my local computer, now on the main site. Users can log in to the site, but it doesn't seem to recognize their roles. When I log in (which the database still recognizes as having the role admin), the code does not recognize it as being in the admin role. If there are other web.configs in subfolders, would that cause the problem? What could possibly cause this issue? Thanks! scojomodena

    I'm trying to get a sense of how to implement the user/role relationships for an application I'm writing. The persistence layer is Google App Engine's datastore, which places some interesting (but generally beneficial) constraints on what can be done. Any thoughts are appreciated. It might be helpful to keep things very concrete. I would like there to be organizations, users, test content and test administrations (records of tests that have been taken). A user can have the role of participant (test-taker), contributor of test material or both. A user can also be a member of zero or more organizations. In the role of participant, the user can see the previous administrations of tests he or she has taken. The user can also see a test administration of another participant if that participant has given the user authorization. The user can see test material that has been made public, and he or she can see restricted content as a participant during a specific administration of a test for which that user has been authorized by an organization. As a member of an organization, the user can see restricted content in the role of contributor, and he or she might or might not also be able to edit the content. Each organization should have one or more administrators that can determine whether a member can see and edit content and determine who has admin privileges. There should also be one or more application-wide superusers that can troubleshoot and solve problems. Members of organizations can see the administrations of tests that the participants concerned have authorized them to see, and they can see anonymous data if no authorization has been given. A user cannot see the test results of another user in any other circumstances. Since there are no joins in the App Engine datastore, it might be necessary to have things less normalized than usual for the typical SQL database in order to ensure that queries that check permissions are fast (e.g., ones that determine whether a link is to be displayed). My questions are: How do I move forward on this? Should I spend a lot of time up front in order to get the model right, or can I iterate several times and gradually roll in additional complexity? Does anyone have some general ideas about how to break things up in this instance? Are there any GAE libraries that handle roles in a way that is compatible with this arrangement?

    I work in a small department in a very large company. Our department operates largely as a independent unit within the company. Each member of the team has a different role. My role within the team is a operations/admin and no one knew of my skills in programing as I never said anything before about it. I just did my work and in the free time read up on things for my own development Our developer who used to look after our websites has left a few months ago. Now when we require edits to our websites even basic HTML changes we outsource the work. We are getting shafted big time. I could of so said something sooner to highlight my skills in this area but I guess I was just happy to do my own development projects. And one reason was they are using asp.net and I have mainly done things in php. I only hinted before that I have done things but I did not want to reveal them before I had completed anything. I was working on something for myself that the company was also trying to implement something similar(e commerce site). I used open source and they decided to go for a propriety solution. Now I have finished my project and showed it to my boss, their project is still not completed and is quite expensive. He was impressed with what I showed him and suggested I should go for courses to learn asp.net. that I may be able to do the development work for them and there are some big upcoming projects in the future. He said this would be a benefit for me that I should look to be doing a better then role then admin. My employer does have a policy if relevent to the role they may support the costs of courses. Now how do I play this what should I say to my boss. I want to get advise on which MS certified courses would be good for asp.net and how to best approach my boss to see if they will pay all the amount for the course. And how much different will asp.net be from php.

  • Turning down the sound on a switched off user

    If one switches users (i.e. user one switches off, and then another users logs in) and there is sound playing on the first user, that sound will continue to play for the second user. If the second user has admin rights, they can guess what program is causing the sound and then kill it, but that is very clumsy, and far more than what "needs" to be done. When I open the mixer, it just shows that sound is playing. How can I stop it?

  • How to prevent Vista from entering Sleep mode when certain conditions exist?

    Mainly, I would like to prevent my laptop from entering Sleep mode when I am playing music or streaming video. This is on my laptop, so another option that would work would be to prevent sleep mode whenever the laptop is plugged into my tv via HDMI (ie when HDMI port is in use). Or prevent sleep mode whenever there is audio playing.. I am soon upgrading to Windows 7, so solutions using 7 would be great also/instead. Thanks!

  • Audio queue start failed

    Hi , i'm developing a project which has both audio streaming and playing audio from file. For audio streaming i'm using AudioStreamer and for playing from file i'm using avaudioplayer. Both streaming and playing works perfectly as long as the app is not interrupted by a phone call or sms. But when a call/sms comes after dismissing the call when i try to restart streaming i'm getting the error "Audio queue start failed" . This happens only when i have used avaudioplayer at least once and after that used streaming. When the avaudioplayer obeject is not created , in this scenario the there is no problem with resuming streaming after dismissing the call. My guess is that some thing is wrong with audioqueue. Help is very much appreciated.......

  • Flash FLVPlayback states

    I'm writing my own class to manage a skin for an FLVPlayback component. It works 90% of the time, but sometimes the state get really messed up. Specifically, the video is playing, meaning I can see it play and the VideoEvent.PLAYHEAD_UPDATE event is firing, but when I poll the FLVPlayback component about its playing property, it returns false. I assume this may be because 'buffering' is kind of a subset of 'playing', but I cannot confirm this in the documentation. I guess another way to ask this question is, "Does the FLVPlayback component ever buffer while it is in a stopped state?"

  • Querying current number of touches on screen without using events on iPhone

    I have an application that starts playing a sound when user touches the uiview and changing to different tones as the user slides the finger on the screen. The sound stops when the user lifts the finger. I am using the touchesBegan, Moved and Ended Events for this. My problem is touches Ended (and/or cancelled) is sometimes not fired properly and the sound keeps playing even after the finger is lifted from screen. So as a workaround I would like to implement a timer that would check for the number of touches on the screen and if it is zero it will check and stop the audioplayer if playing. I have been searching for some code that could get me the number of touches like UITouch *touches=[self getAllTouchesonScreen]; or something :)

  • Polling versus socket servers for online Flash games

    Hi, I want to make an online flash game, it will have social features but the gameplay will be primarily single-player. For example, no two players will appear on the screen at once, the social interaction will be through asynchronous messages, there won't be real-time chat or anything. Much of the logic would happen in the client, the server would validate the client logic, but it wouldn't need to be totally synchronous, which is why I'm thinking polling might be satisfactory. I have read in many places that socket servers can be more efficient than using polling for online games, but is that mainly a consideration for games that are more multi-player with more mult-player interactions than the game I have descriebed? If many users are playing online at the same time, but each playing a relatively isolated game, and not interacting to in real-time with each players, could polling be okay, or would using sockets be advisable no matter what if you have an online game that you envision many people playing at the same time?     Hey everyone reading this, I've recently got into doing GUI development with Python. Tkinter seems like the easiest and most logical choice starting out. I did a little with wxPython but it was more sophisticated than what I needed. Anyway, I'm developing a media player. Right now it's a simple window with a button to load .wav files. The problem is I would like to implement a pause button now. But, when playing a audio file the GUI isn't accessible again (no buttons can be pushed) till the file is done playing. How can I make the GUI dynamic while an audio file is playing? I was thinking this maybe be because I'm using PyAudio, and their implementation doesn't allow this. Anyway, thanks for any advice before hand.
